K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS Embassy in Bangkok
I have just read about the new visa procedures just put into effect at the Bangkok US Embassy. I have filed my 129F and have received my NOA1 from VSC. I do not know how these procedures will change the process that I was ready to follow at the embassy.
Some help please?

I think i just got my NOA2 ....I just received this email:

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status:

This case has been approved. On February 2, 2006, an approval notice was mailed.

I am excited but i am not sure what this means. Put this together with the new procedures at the US Embassy in Bangkok and i am not sure what to do next.
What information do I need and have to supply so I can I buy my PIN on the Embassy web site and set up my fiances appointment in Bangkok?
I only mailed out this I129F on 01/11/2006 WOW

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI am now panicking about the number of medical forms
I just read this post and i am panicking:

"Hello all,
Wi went to get her medical today. She was turned away for only having the three forms we downloaded from the Bangkok Embassy Site. She was told to return when she has all six forms that are provided for her in packet 3.

We still have not recieved packet 3 from the Embassy. The three forms she has is DS3024, DS3025 and DS3026 along with BKK-MEI (Instructions)

What 3 forms is she missing?

Thanks!
Brent"

I have downloaded the same forms and i am flying my fiance to BKK tomorrow for her medical at Bumrungrad with her required # of photos. But i thought that was all she needed!

Please someone answer this question about the Bangkok medical!
Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCase Tracking from NVC to Embassy

HI all

Just wondering is there a way to track your case from NVC to the Embassy or is it a case of emailing or calling your Embassy?

Thanks

Adele (F)

The best way to track your case from NVC to Embassy is thru calling DOS # 1-202-663-1225 then 100 this is the operator. You can ask them if the NVC had already forwarded your case to the Embassy and if Embassy had receive. This is what I did rather than tracking DHL as everyone says which is confusing and not accurate.

:) JR

Thanks for posting that number. I have been trying to find out if my package has arrived at Bangkok but the "tracking DHL" method has not worked for me. I see them shipping all over the world but not on the day NVC told me they sent it out. I will call this number and ask if it has been received.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support supporting evidence

Unless he is self employed you do NOT need tax returns going through London. If he makes over 125% (I think the I-134 actually only asks for 100%, the 125% is for AOS, someone correct me if I'm wrong) based on his income alone then you don't need things like life insurace policies, etc. All you need to do is prove he makes enough money, you don't have to go above and beyond that. Simply provide the evidence they ask for (bank letter, employer letter). I'm assuming Dan is the USC? If so, and he qualifies based on his income, then don't worry about any of your stuff.

Oh, and good luck! :)

Have Dan call the IRS. They will send him a transcript of the last 3 years tax's for free. Having a document from the United States Treasury verifying your income like these transcripts will certainly not hurt your case.
Good Luck

In 'My Controls' at the top right of the page. When the page opens you will see a list on the left hand side. Go to edit signature. This is where you paste the code in for tickers. Paste it wherever in your signature that you wish it to appear.

As for pictures.....go to www.photobucket.com an open a free account. You can then upload all your pictures to there. Then using the [ IMG ] tagged link below the picture you wish to use, copy it and then you can either paste it into your signature if you want it there.....Or if you want to use pics in your posts.....just paste the link into your reply wherever you want it to appear. Good plan with posts is to always click on 'preview post' first to make sure the link to the pic has been pasted correctly....then 'add reply'....To use one as your avatar, copy the [ URL ] tag under the pic you wish to use, go to edit avitar in the list in 'My Controls' and paste the link there to upload......

To add photos to your gallery go to 'my photos' in your profile. At the top click on my gallery. You can then either browse your comp or paste the links from your photobucket account to upload your photos.

Lorelle

Which code do you past in so far i have tried the HTML and now the BB. Neither has worked for me

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWait Time for Montreal

Montreal is back up 5 to 7 months. I call montreal today and was so bummed to hear that. I have been married for 3 yrs and have hardly been able to see my hubby. That is why I call up to the consulate.

I'm assuming you're waiting on an interview? If you check out this spreadsheet it will give you a good idea for how the the wait is.

My husband and I finished our NVC process in early August and I'm not expecting notification for an interview until sometime in January.

It stinks, but stay positive. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations...Inputs please!

I have read all the posts about the translation of documents and also using the format below. What I am looking for is feedback from those who have translated their own documents using this format and whether anybody has encountered any problems with this (if you have positive feedback that would be great to hear also.) Your input would be much appreciated...I don't want an RFE!!!

"Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________
Date Typed Name
Address"

You might want to see if there are any official translators in your area. My husband needed his documents translated from French. Quebec actually has an official organization of translators that have official seals and expertise with different languages. I believe he used the above format and then sealed a copy of the birth certificate along with his certifying letter into an envelope and the stamped his seal over the envelope seal. Doing it this way worked perfect fine for us.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhy is the 2nd NOA taking so long
My NOA2 took about 6 months. When I called after the 5 month wait time, they told me I needed to be a month over the minimum wait time before I could officially file anything to find out what the heck was going on.

I didn't know how to check touches, so we just sat and waited. We got the NOA2 in 6 months, with no extra requests. I have no idea what held it up so long.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations

http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

Take a look at the link and click on the age appropriate for your husband

Also, a trip to the US is not necessary, obviously the socialized medicine he'll get in Canada will cover these vaccines, the record you have is a good place to start, he'll need to bring that for his medical. Also, a titre test (also covered by socialized medicine) will show what vaccines he has and what he needs

Good luck

Oh I realize a trip to the US isn't necessary, but he let his Canada Care Card (or whatever it's called) expire. The excuse I got was that it's "too much of a pain to renew it." Coming to the States isn't an issue to get the shots as he only lives 4 hours away, and he's covered by my insurance. The co-pay to get his immunizations updated is only $20.

For Cr-1 visas, there isn't an option to get vaccines done while in the US. They must be done before the visa can be issued

Good luck

I'm referring to getting them done in the States before his medical and before the visa is issued. He's covered on my insurance and it shouldn't be a problem.

You can get your shots ahead of time. Nothing else from your "pre-medical" will count towards the immigration medical, as that can only be preformed by a few select doctors.

Look at this:

http://panelphysicia...munizations.htm

This is perfect. Thank you!

And yes, I realize that the actual physical has to be done by select doctors in Canada.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations
Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to get ahead of the game a little bit, but before I do, I wanted to get a feel on if I should go ahead with what I was thinking about.

First off, we're going through the Montreal Consulate which is WAY back logged. I don't expect our interview for another 3 months or so. However, I wanted to try and get a jump on any vaccinations that my husband needed.

My first question would be, I've seen different postings for where to get the vaccination list needed. I was curious which one I should pull from for the list?

Second, what I'm looking to do is to have my husband come to the doctor down here in the States (he's covered by my insurance) and get whatever vaccinations he needs updated. I'm not familiar with the medical part of the visa/interview process, so I want to be sure about having him basically get a "pre-physical" done to update vaccinations and what not before the actual immigration physical. I want to make sure I'm not wasting anyone's time (mine, his, doctor) having him see a doctor before the medical interview.

His mom has a shot record of all the vaccinations he had when he was younger, although they're in French, most of them are obvious.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA couple of questions regarding assembling of I-130 package and affidavits
I organized my I - 130 packet in the same order of the documents needed that was listed on the application website. I put everything in order and then added a cover page. that was sort of a "road map" for what I had enclosed. I attached it all with a small binder clip and popped it in the mail. The paper size should not matter.

The cover letter looks like this:

I can't upload the actual word document, so the formatting is a little off (the indents espeically), but if you wanted a copy feel free to send me a message and I can email you one. My address and phone numbers are taken out obviously, but I included them in the original cover sheet.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan Canadian marry in US before application process?

My wife and I did pretty much the same thing that you have in mind (well, except that we didn't know anything about the immigration requirements). I'm a USC and my wife is a Canadian citizen but she was working in US w/ H1B visa. We got engaged and planned the wedding for over a year (got married in July, 2010, in Southern California). About a couple of months before the wedding, she quit her job and moved back to Canada to finish preparing for the wedding. When she was trying to come back to US for the wedding (just a few days before, no less), she told the CBP officer that (1) she was getting married in US to a USC, (2) she didn't have a job anymore, and (3) she intended to live in US. Three strikes.
But, in the end, the CBP officer took pity on her and let her in for the wedding BUT she had to buy a return ticket and promise/certify that she'll return to Canada after the wedding. She left US after the wedding and we're going through the I-130 and K-3 process right now.

Knowing what I know now, I think you should either (1) get the K-1 visa and get married in US, or (2) get married in Canada and do I-130. That said, I would've done K-1 because being separated after your wedding will be quite difficult (as I am finding out the hard way). Hope it helps.

This is basically what my husband and I did. We had no idea how strict border guards can be when you tell them that you're getting married. My husband got to the border a couple days before our wedding and was all excited about telling him he was coming down to get married. He got pulled over and given the fifth degree along with a "baby-sitting" card that he had to check back in to make sure he cross back into Canada. That being said, it is risky to get married down here as they may not let you into the country.

I can also agree with wanting a K-1 first. My husband and I got married in August of 2009 and then filed the I-130 to start the CR-1 process. It is now October 2010 and we probably won't have an interview until January 2011. The separation is hard, but thankfully we only live about 4.5 hours away and I'm able to visit each weekend. Although I have to say, the drive each weekend really wears on me.

Good luck to you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT - Advice about Divorce Certificate for I-130
I was divorced twice when my husband and I sent in our I-130. I sent in photocopies of both of my divorce degrees. One of them was just a half slip of paper from Illinois that didn't even have a document number on it with only signatures. The other was from South Carolina and didn't have a certified stamp, just the entirety of the legal document with the judge's signature on the end. We were approved just fine with no RFE's.

You should be fine with what you have.

My bad....the 141 was for K1's...IR1 average is 70 days according to data in VJ.

I really hope that's the case. Although I've gotten my hopes up when something seemed to go great (digital NVC processing) thinking that it will speed up the process and then find out that we're stuck waiting ages for the interview. We waited almost 6 months for our I-130 approval.

I drive to Montreal each weekend, but I was hoping we could avoid another Quebec winter.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Wait Times
Hi Everyone,

I haven't had a chance to enter in my visa dates as of yet, but I had one quick question. How long are the wait times between getting everything finished at the NVC and actually getting the interview appointment and date from the Montreal Consular?

My husband and I were luckily able to do everything digitally through e-mail/pdf with the NVC and on August 4th we received notification through e-mail that all of our documents were received and in order and now we're just waiting on the interview date.

How long is the wait for that, and also, do they notify you by email, regular mail or both?

Sorry if these questions have been answered somewhere else, I've poked around and not quite found what I was looking for.

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOctober Intreview dates...
My wifes interview date was Oct 16, my brothers wife was Oct 9, both of them had a easy time and maybe only 5 questions were asked maxed.

Though on my wife, she did state that the interviewer who was a punjabi fellow did try to confuse her/trick her about him not receiving her original birth certificate or some original paper, in which she stated that everything they wanted she sent to me and which I sent to the NVC. Then he states that shes right and told her she got her visa.

Since they were females, no AP or any of that which was good.

Best of luck to all

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAny Lawyer + NVC experiences?
I used an attorney, and for me it was a HUGE mistake. I'm sure there are good attorneys out there that do this right. But it is almost impossible to know beforehand whether you are dealing with a good one or not. In my situation, the lawyer only added much expense and very much time to the completion of our case. First, it's another layer to process things through, and they hardly do anything anyway. My lawyer filled out the forms initially (or rather had his assistant fill them out), then emailed them to me. I corrected the numerous errors, printed and signed the forms and physically mailed them back to him, before he (his assistant again), sent the forms to the NVC. He did not tell us anything about obtaining the police certificate which should be ready before the I-130 is approved, otherwise you will have to wait another month potentially to get it. Now that I understand the process, I know that this was handled terribly and was just a silly waste of money. The people on this website are far better informed about every step of this process and far more concerned about helping you get through it quickly than any lawyer.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy Wife skipped the Immigration Hall at Port of Entry
Thanks for the suggestions all. We were able to schedule a really quick INFOPASS appointment for this morning and the office is quite close to our house. They said basically the same thing.. they cannot take the paperwork there, but we can go to the nearest Customs and Border Patrol station, which is at Boston Logan airport, rather than at JFK where we entered. I'm still a bit worried about it.. They did take her fingerprints and photos at the Passport control station, but the woman we met at the USCIS office said she could not see the biometrics in the system. Maybe they will need to do it again and my wife just cut her thumb badly the other day.. I guess will just have to see when we go.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy Wife skipped the Immigration Hall at Port of Entry
My Wife entered at JFK on Aug 31 on her CR1 visa with the sealed brown envelope. She showed the envelope to the passport control officer there who opened the envelope and stamped her passport and wrote the A-number there as well as on the white paper that was on top of the brown envelope. He then returned the contents of the envelope. The officer asked her about the cat which she had brought with her and said that she needed to go into the room to the right.. She thought that she needed to go there for the cat to be checked. When in the room, she was asked why she was there, and she said that she had a cat. They told her she didn't need to be there and she left for customs. At customs, they told her she needed to go back to that room and have her customs form signed there, which they did. Then she was allowed to leave through customs. We are worried now that she was supposed to give her papers to someone in that room which we now think must have been the Immigration Hall and that they should have processed these papers in order for her to get her Green Card to be sent. The question is, now what? How can we fix this? What can we do to get her Green Card? Is the stamp and the A-number that the officer put there the "endorsement" that is supposed to be done for the I-551 temporary green card on her visa in her passport?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAny more feb. filers approved?
It's weird. The longer I've gone on through this process, the less I've started caring about it. Well, maybe not stopped caring about it, per se, but I've begun to take a longer view of it.

Yes, of course I want our petition to be approved. Of course it would be wonderful if it were approved tomorrow. BUT...I don't care so much about it because once it's approved, I just start playing the waiting game again. This time I just wait for the NVC to generate whatever it generates so I can send in whatever I send in there, so I can wait some more...
This whole process is hurry up and wait. I'm sick of it.

It'd be great if I would be approved in the next 5 minutes. But since the only thing I have to do after that 5 minutes is wait some more, it makes very little difference.

Damn, I've become quite pessimistic :(
