Middle East and North Africainterview next tuesday in casa
QUOTE (morocco4ever @ Dec 29 2009, 11:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Don't take the picture with the rings, and have him take off the ring for the interview. As long as you aren't married and trying to do a fiance visa then why add any stress?

I guess that's the problem, that photo was sent with the original package. After being so careful, I can't believe we made such a stupid mistake. I was feeling so good about this interview, but today, I am thinking the worst. Also, I have been reading alot from the pinned section for returned petitions on this forum. I have a question that I did not see answered, or may have missed. Is it possible if we get denied, to let the petition expire, and get married instead? I am afraid of making a wrong decision.

We are feeling very good about the interview. We have been very organized and prepared throughout this whole process. There is just one thing that is making me so worried. When ouadia bought me my engagement ring, he bought the wedding band to go with it, which I figure is normal. But, we took a picture at his aunt's house, with me with both rings on, and he already wears a band since he likes to wear one because he isn't single. So there is a picture of us showing our rings on. I feel this is going to cause a huge problem. We can only explain the truth, which is what he is gonna do of course, but will this hurt our chances no matter what? Just wanted some advice. Thank you in advance.

Do they look down on a long email, or should I just be short. Being too organized and detailed is what got us in trouble. But I don't feel this is the time to hide how I feel, and how I hope they can give us another chance. Any advice on this? Thanks in advance

Middle East and North AfricaInterview today in casa...
I thank everyone so very much for the information. It is alot to absorb, but we will get through what we need to get through. I would move there, but I have a son here to think about, so that is out of the question. I am glad I am not alone in this.

You know, the man wasn't nice, but he was doing his job. I am glad that not just anybody can immigrate. Ouadia and I knew that denial was easy to get in casa. Bottom line, we will work smarter, and we will be together when the time is right. This has no effect on our feelings for eachother. We feel this is what God wanted for now, and that we will continue to fight to be together.

Middle East and North AfricaInterview today in casa...
sorry guys. When we met, we both had become members on a website for dating and friendship. When you sign up, the first page that showed up was a page of people who were "currently online". My fiance saw a pic of me, and decided to email me. That is how my fiance and I met. This question about the web site came as one of the last questions in the interview. I don't know if the CO googled the web site, or what, but there are thousands of dating web sites, and we both happened to be on this one. My fiance was initially looking for friendship, but found me, so that is the end of that story. The CO said if he was looking for friends, why on dating sight. this is a legitimate question. But many many people go onto dating sights to try it out, and dont know what they will find. Anyways, they hated us and our package before they even met him.

Middle East and North AfricaInterview today in casa...
It was a denial. The first thing the CO said to my fiance was "I don't care for your package, really I don't like it" That was it, but he continued with the interview for 1 1/2 hours. They gave him a piece of paper, and asked him to write down every place I have worked for the past 5 years, and all of my supervisors names. He also asked more about my sisters and their families than about our relationship. they wanted him to write down where my nieces and nephews went to school, all of thier birthdates, exact dates, and wanted to know why my younger sister had a baby out of wedlock. My fiance only knew about my last 3 jobs over the last 4 years, and only knew my current supervisor, not the others. Noone in my family could ever answer that. Anyways, he also didn't like that we met on a web site, I think he didn't like my fiances answer, which was he googled, and found this site, and after signing up, he saw the people that were online now, and saw my face. He didn't even know I was in america, he just emailed, and we started talking. Anyways, the CO had his mind made up from the beginning. He said we were rehearsed, bla bl bla. He also said that he will send the petition back to USCIS, and if they reapprove us, then he will get the visa. First, I am going to call the consulate in the morning, and try try try to get him another interview. I have contacted my senator today, and hopefully they can try to get another interview. If he gets another one, I will go to be with him at the interview, even though I can't go in. If that fails, we have plans to get married there. Just wanted to let you guys know how it went, and GOD is with us. We agree that nothing will keep us apart. He said if we have to fight another year or two, we will be together. Thanks for the well wishes....let the REAL fighting begin!!!

Middle East and North AfricaMy Fiance Denied Visa Today in Casa

We are both just sick to our stomachs about this. He had his interview this morning with an awful, nasty man. The interviewer asked everything about me, my name, where I live, where I work, what I do, my age (there is 15 years difference), he then asked why my fiance does not marry a Moroccan woman. My fiance answered everything correctly and to the last question he answered "I did not find a Moroccan woman and all in love, I met and fell in love with my fiance from USA". All the interviewer did was laugh at everything. After 2 hours of talking, the interviewer told my fiance you are refused a visa and gave him the paper which states the usual box checked for reason 221(g) with something written that it is being sent back to the State Department and another letter will follow. I am looking at the paper now and there is no specific reason given. I did go to my Congressman's office today and they are looking into it. The Congressman's office said they received 3 denials from Casa Embassy just yesterday. We are just sick about this and to top things off we may not hear anything for 4 weeks and by then the Fiance Applications expires (the 2nd paper states valid October 6, 2009 to February 25, 2010)! I am making an appointment with my local immigration office. In the meantime, can anyone tell me since it will expire by the time we receive final refusal papers, should we refile under Fiance Visa again or should I go to Morocco, get married and do the marriage (K-3 I think it's called) Visa? If I have to I will retire from my job (I have enough years to retire and I am 50), go to Morocco and live there and do the immigration papers from Morocco? I apologize if some of this doesn't make sense, I am nervous, sick to my stomach and so very sad.. Why is it that men can marry younger women, but when a woman wants to do it, the marriage is considered taboo? FYI, all the papers were correct. Do people get approved if they file again after being denied? Should I do a Fiance again or do the marriage visa, should I do a marriage visa from USA or Morocco? Any help is appreciated and thank you all for taking the time to listen and help.

We were also denied from a very nasty man on Jan. 5. The first thing he told my fiance was that he did not like our package. It was big, with tons of evidence. Anyways, there is a pinned thread at the top of the MENA page for denials. You already contacted your elected officials. That's good. There are a few options for you. I have decided to travel to Morocco, get married, and come back and file the CR1. This is one option. You could also wait for the petition to come back to the states, and wait for USCIS to reaffirm it. I would suggest you check out KIYAH's profile, she has some very important and helpful information for you. Morocco4ever and mena4life have valuable info as well, they all went through denials. I am very sure they will be along for you to help in more detail. God bless you, and don't let them break your spirit. My fiance and I went through alot when we got denied, but we feel so much stronger now, and we are getting married in March. Take care and good luck

Middle East and North Africak1 interview question

salam alaikum & hello every1 ,

I want you guys to answer this question....WHY U PUT YR PROFINE ON A MARRIAGE WEBSITE ?

I am not sure I am understanding what you are looking for. It sounds like you want to know why we create a profile on a marriage website...This is not a marriage web site, this is an Immigration website. People come here to seek advice to their immigration questions.

Middle East and North AfricaNVC recieved our returned K-1 yesterday
NVC recieved our returned K-1 yesterday...is there anything I should do now? Like let my senator's and congresswoman know, or start calling USCIS? We are getting married next month, but just wanted to make sure our K-1 is dealt with. I know it will be first in, first out at USCIS, but didn't know if there was anything I could do. I consulted a lawyer who was referred to me by one of my senator's office, and he told me that there is no problem to cancel my K-1, but I have heard not to do this. I have heard many different things regarding how to proceed with our case... Really, sometimes I wish I could get a straight answer from people about this process...

call DOS, then have all the info in their computers. The number is 202-663-1225. Speak to a real person, and they will tell you if your case is at NVC yet. Our petition was sent back on January 7, and DOS told me last friday that NVC had recieved it on Feb. 11 and were sending it back to our service center which is in Vermont. I am going to Morocco in March to get married. I know it's hard, and I know what you are going through, but hang in there!

Thanks everyone. I forwarded the email to my senators and congresswoman. NVC does not have the case yet, but when they do, they will scan the package and send it to casa. Also, I know what you mean about case status. I did call USCIS before I knew it was even at the NVC, and it said it was approved back in October. I wasn't even checking the USCIS website anymore, because I know I would be getting letters about our case further. I just got this email today. Then I went to USCIS website to see, and it says same thing, case was sent back to DOS on feb 19, 2010....

Also, was leaving for Morocco this sunday to get married, OBVIOIUSLY we will not get married if this really did get sent back to casa. We will use the 3 weeks as a vacation!! The man who interviewed him was nasty, but did say that if the petition gets reapproved and is sent back to casa, they will give him a visa with no question. I thougth he was full of baloney, now I'm not sure!

I hate to be a downer, but I have never heard of it happening this fast....EVER. So I have a couple of questions. Did you receive a notice from the service center that they had received it back from the consulate? Did you call them asking the status on your case? The reason I ask is because once they have done the first approval that will be their response up until they have actually received it back and entered it into their computer system. So if you ask them for a status update before it is received back then their response will be that it is approved. I really hope I am wrong however.

But did it actually say it was reaffirmed? Because that wording would not be used for the initial approval. I am certainly hoping it did. And this gives credence to my opinion that you should always wait until you know if they decide to expire the petition before you get married. If this is indeed a reaffirmation, and you had gotten married, you would have no choice but to wait through the process again because marriage would void the petition.

I will cut and paste the email, removing persoanl info of course...

Middle East and North AfricaDOS phone number

Hi,

I'v seen posts where people have said they have called DOS. Can anyone tell me where I would find the number for DOS? When you say DOS do you mean the embassy? Because our embassy refuses to give any information over the phone. So I'm just confused where to go for more info.

Currently, our case was reaffirmed by USCIS on 02/02/10 and sent back to the embassy. So any ideas who I should be calling to check on where it is? Or to find out any additional information?

Thanks everyone.

Samer

Middle East and North Africaupdating our crazy case...
Thanks for the encouragement. Really, I just have to laugh. Supposedly the officer at USCIS was going to make an exception for us, and let us resubmit the I129 without having to pay or wait normal processing times because of the consulates mistake. It is void anyways because we got married, but I can't believe the consulate did this. After the way they treated my fiance, I feel they didn't care enough to do the right thing. They initially said they sent the package back on Jan. 7, but found a few days later that they never sent the proofs. They called my fiance to tell him to pick them up, otherwise they would throw them in the trash. After my senator's office told them they needed to send our proofs back to the US, and not throw them in the trash, they said they would send them back. But they said it was only our pictures and evidence that they forgot to put in. They obviously forgot everything. I hope they handle our I130 better than they handled our I129....

Middle East and North Africaupdating our crazy case...

Tany,

First, I am sorry for you that you went through this whole Casa ordeal. It sounds like a mess for you. My K-1 was also returned to NVC but I am on the endless waiting list for a review.

Can you tell me how you got married in Morocco and how long it took and what steps you went through? My fiancee is in Fez and I am going there next month. I am considering a temporary to permanent move at least until I can bring him to the USA with me. But next month I will only be there a few weeks and then back until I get a few details sorted out here (job, house, family, pets) so I can make my move in a couple months. I am wondering if I will have time to possibly get married on this trip. Anything you can offer is much appreciated.

By the grace of God, we got married in 5 days. It usually takes 2 weeks to a month. This is what you will need to get married. I attached a file. Good luck in your journey.

Middle East and North Africaupdating our crazy case...
After calling DOS and USCIS constantly for a week, we were reassured again and again that our K-1 was in fact reaffirmed. Two days after arriving in Morocco,(which was 9 days after getting the reaffirmed email) we found out it was actually a mistake. This was confirmed by our senators and congresswoman. We go ahead and marry in Morocco on March 12. I had let my senator's office know, and she said that was great, and to let her know when we file our I-130.

Today I received an email from my congresswoman's office that stated this:

I have a final response for you from the National Visa Center (NVC) and the Eastern Adjudication Center (EAC) in Vermont. Your file came to NVC from the U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca. NVC forwarded the file to EAC where it was discovered that the petition was not inside the file. Because of several congressional inquiries, you were advised to submit a duplicate I-129F form and were provided instructions from Senator Gregg?s office.

The adjudication officer is holding the file an is waiting for the information that you were advised to submit. It would be best if you continue working with Senator Gregg?s office and follow the instructions that they provide. Having multiple Congressional offices involved at this point can slow down the process and cause confusion.

Respectfully,

First of all, I had to laugh that after all this, our petition was NOT EVEN IN THE FILE the consulate sent back to the US. Secondly, I have been working closer with Senator Gregg's office, and they never informed me that they were told I needed to file another I-129 and all the other stuff they claim to this congresswoman's office they told my senator's office. (because my senator's office was never informed of this)

Now they say the officer is holding our file and waiting for the new petition?!?! IDK, but I really can't believe this actually happened. My file, with my case number and all our information, was sent, but with no K-1 petition....this has us wondering where the heck is our petition?!?!  :bonk:

P.S. We know our K-1 is void because we got married, but just can't believe how our package has been so mishandled...

Middle East and North AfricaPolice Record from U.S. to get married in Morocco

I married in Morocco and I had my local police record and it took a couple of days.........make sure you take a babtism record or something to show your religion and to prove you are of the book. We had to have this document before he could marry someone other than a Muslim. Also you will go to the Embassy in casablanca and you will need to pay for an Affidavit of nationality (them showing you are American) and also an affidavit to marry (showing you are able to marry and show prove of any divorces).........take divorce certificate with you.birth certificate.....you will need passport.....and I think employment records or paystubs is a MUST!! They will also ask for your primary, second and high school educataion and parents info......also you must have been divorced by 90 days!!...I waited 4 years to get my divorce in writing from my estranged (American) ex- husband and it was 60 days by time my first visit so we had to wait and finish marriage on our second trip. Im putting this here incase someone reads it and may be in similar situation so they will have the knowledge.

I agree with all the advice, although I had nothing to prove my religion, and it wasn't a problem?? I was certainly asked about my religion, and if I would convert to Muslim in the future, but had no baptismal evidence. I guess it all depends on the local judge?? Who knows in Morocco!!

FBI says it takes 14 weeks to process an identification record. Is it possible to get just a local police record from my hometown quicker? Would that be enough to satisfy the Moroccan government, in order to get married there?

I just got married there in march. I only got a police record from my state police file. It took 15 min. That was all I needed to get married. Good luck!

Middle East and North AfricaEvidence of Bonafide marriage

It certainly can't hurt. Morocco is tough. I included 14 affidavits from family and friends as additional proof for my K-1 and .....still waiting since it was returned. I would send as much as you can on the front end. The Consulate didn't even look at the proof he took with him for the interview.

Oh we know about morocco LOL We were denied our K1 in january....one of their complaints was that our package was TOO GOOD... complained we sent so much evidence, and complained that he brought MORE evidence to the interview...#######!! It is so aggrevating...there is no rhyme or reason to the process....

Middle East and North AfricaEvidence of Bonafide marriage

Tanya...Hi, we did not do sworn affidavits and there was no problems at USCIS.......but we did get an RFE asking for the original and Arabic marriage certificate! make sure to send it and a copy and the English translation and request the originals back and they will mail them back. I think I had a current police report and so I went ahead and included a COPY just because I had it. I also sent lots of e-mails just like he would be taking to his interview all in a binder by months and dats with chat records. Not sure if they even looked at it, but I did send it and photos of marriage and his family at the family party. Just do not forget the ARABIC certificate of marriage and the Deed of Marriage in English translation! It cost us a week of waiting to see what the RFE was and another 3 1/2-4 on international mail getting the Document here. Hopefully you were wise, and you brought back the original? Some may have sent affidavits, but we were approved without them..Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. As soon as our marriage cert was finished, my husband had it translated, and I received it last week. I have changed my name, and am getting the package ready. Just wanted to know if I really should have affidavits for morocco or not.

I am getting our package together, and was wondering, do I need to change the name on my passport to show the changed name before I can mail in my package? I will be putting a copy of my passport, and was just wondering if having my old name on there will cause a problem. Thanks in advance!

Middle East and North AfricaUPDATE on Casa Interview
Our K-1 was returned to USCIS on January 7, 2010. Got 2 senators and congresswoman on the case, in the end they could not do anything. We married in march. I did not send out our I130 until we knew what happened with our K-1 because you don't want to send out a petition when there is one still floating around....turns out the USCIS opened the diplomatic pouch and there was no petition lmao!!! Because of this, they were going to make an exception and let us send in a new package, and they would review it right away. Our senator told them we had already gotten married, so they sent out the official letter that our K-1 had expired. I sent our I130 a week later. So we got the official expiration letter from the USCIS 4 months after the denial. Am sorry to hear of your news, but unfortunately it is very common. Good luck to you both!
