Ok I have a question for you all...I don't want to start anything so don't see it as that please...just genuine wonder and curiosity.

How do you all feel about your JA man having kids back in JA? Did it bother you/affect your relationship that he had kids? I didn't have to deal with that situation but I was thinking about it and thought it would have been hard for me personally to be with someone who had prior kids they would have to leave behind. So how do you all feel?

it didn't nor does it bother me....I knew of them before we got back together although nah tell no lie..I was like kids u do wacko.gif I love his kids..but di question is how u deal wid the mumma dem...well mi affi put she inna fi har place cause when she call my phone she a act like she no respect mi...so kindle tell her fi call back when she learn respect fi mi. so now she mek the girls call..mi no care and mi no mind eida. This is what i hear about it too! I hear its A LOT more than a strip club and some quite disturbing things go on there. Not sexy at all. But thats just what I hear. Some of the stories made me sick to the stomach. I used to waitress at a strip club in SanFran it was much more decent.

I just read this in 'off topic' and thought I'd share; very touching...

I believe –

each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe -

every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe -

I believe -

that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe -

and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays
you've celebrated.

I believe -
. . . that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you
have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe -

for your grief.

I believe -
. . . that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we
are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe -

I believe -

totally different.

I believe -
. . . that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who
don't even know you.

I believe -

cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I believe -

I believe -

Nope...you still need 3 years even though they probably will only look at the latest but they did ask for all three at my interview last month.

HELP!!!! HELP!!!! HELP!!!! :help: :help: :help:

Okay....we went to get Duane's ID card from DMV today and they told him they can't issue it!!! HELLO???? Why not....???? They said the I-94 expires on October 17, 2006 so we need an extention??? Has anyone ever heard of that before?? October is whne the 90 days are up but we got married before then and we are filing the AOS/EAD this week. Help guys!!!!
I have heard of someone having a problem like that, that the DMV won't issue a card because the I-94 is about to expire. Try and get just the photo id fo rnow and then when you get the approvl fo ryour AOS you go back and get teh permit itself.

Just wanted to say hi quick, I just got home from the hospital. Elias is still there, he's having some blood issues - his and mine didn't mix. As soon as Michael gets home we're going to go sit with him.

He's so precious, and we're so in love. I will definitely post pictures once we get him home and get settled.

Congrats to all the approvals I missed - my prayers are with you Jax and Popcorn.

Take care everyone, and thanks for posting about Elias Mindy!

Julie glad you are holding up- I was out for 6 months after my baby, he was a big man. Little Elias will be just fine and will be home and doing what babies do best before you even know it.

Subject: K3 Petition for KNG2006######

Good Morning Sir/Madam:

I am emailing you in regards to my husband's petition for a K3 visa.

· I would like to know if the petition was received and also when would packet 3 be issued?

· If it is possible I would also like to be informed of how far along the interviews for K3 visas are being given out for?

· While waiting for packet 3 to arrive my husband get his police report or is getting the police report contingent upon packet 3?

In regards to me (my name) do

1. I require also a birth certificate if I am a Jamaican national with US citizenship?

2. Does a copy of the original marriage certificate stamped by a notary constitute ( stand for) a certified copy for the interview?

The case number is KNG2006######

and this is there reply a few minutes later-:Wed 8/23/2006 11:35 AM

Hello:

Our records show that on August 15, 2006, the Embassy received an approved I-129F petition filed by you on behalf of your husband, Paul Phillips. On August 23, we sent the necessary forms and instructions concerning the requirements for a "K3" visa to Mr. Phillips at 123 Timbuktoo Lane, Bull Bay, St. Andrew, Jamaica. As soon as your fiance  has the required documents in his possession, he should complete and return the Form DS-230 Part 1 to the Embassy. When the date is determined, we will mail an appointment letter to him at the above address. After receiving the appointment letter, he should contact one of the Embassy's panel physicians (listed on the back of the medical form) and schedule his medical exam for at least ten days before the visa interview. He can apply for his police certificate any time now because it does not expire for one year.

While we do not need to see your birth certificate, we will need an original marriage certificate if the marriage took place in Jamaica, (issued by the Registrar General's Department), or a notarized copy of the marriage licence or certificate if the marriage took place in the U.S.

The documents that you will need to send for his to submit at the visa interview are as follows:

i) an original signed and notarized Affidavit of Support (I-134),

ii) copies of your 2005 recent federal income tax returns and W-2 form, and

iii) a current employment letter and/or pay stubs.

The fee for a "K3" visa is US$100 which is payable at any branch of Paymaster (Jamaica) Limited prior to the visa interview.

If the visa is approved at the time of the interview, it will be issued for collection in four to five working days

Good morning everyone!

No news yet from the new mother?
The wait is just as bad as waiting for an NOA...

I received my notice that my packet has been forwarded to Kingston but yet when I called the NVS it tells me they do not have a record of receiving my packet yet. Oh well I have a case number for Kingston. Is there anyway I can track that number to see if they have received it yet? There was no DHL number on the letter.

Question...Did your fiance have a difficult with adjusting to the rules here in the states? My guy is being so pig headed and the arguments have been more frequent. I try to explain that is how it is done here and that is the rule or the law. He is having a hard time getting past that. And it is not like he has never left Jamaica before, he has been working for the cruise industry for the last 10 years and has been all over the world.
Thick headed Jamaican!!!!

Good Morning Ladies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Darlene- Congrats onyour KNG 2006-##-### WELCOME TO THE CLUB :whistle:do this to track you wont get specifics the best specific info you could get is to call the embassy. Do this tracking once the NVC tells you they sent the package.

Hello everyone!

We just got back from Jamaica last night. We had a lot of fun but the time flew by. 4 nights is just too short, especially when we have so many people to visit. We had a blast at Margaritaville the night of Tony's birthday. I got so drunk I did the Dutty Wine  :D  And I actually did a pretty good job of it! Although I did pull a muscle in my neck that hurt for 2 days :o

I'm here at work now and not happy about it  I'm on 3rd shift (midnights) as of today :ranting: I'm convinced that my boss hates me. No one else here gets moved around all the time like I do.

Going back to catch up now. Looks like I have about 9 pages to read :reading:

Topic for today:

Now that you're living together what is the one quality that stands out that your spouse/fiance has that makes you say 'I am the most fortunate/lucky/blessed woman/man in the world'?

His sense of humor. He always makes me laugh  I love that about him.

Rhonda and Tony have a great trip! Will you be able to bring everything with the airline restrictions in place?

Thanks. Yes we took everything we needed to take. We just had to check most of our luggage instead of just carrying it on like we had planned. We even managed to bring 3 bottles of Rum back  we just checked it with the luggage!!

Welcome back Rhonda. Glad you enjoyed you time

Thank all of you for the congrats. I can't wait I am hoping my hubby will be here by October, I am planning a trip for a week in Jamaica for the first week of October so I am hoping that the interveiw falls around there if not I am a$$ out.

Ladies a quick question- I am getting ready for the interveiw ( well, not really- I just know we are gonna be denied :crying: :crying: ) My question is when you guys go to Jamaica do you get all-inclusive or just the flight and hotel ( I normally go to family but I am not feeling that this year).
I have found a great deal with Sunset Beach Resort & Spa AI-All Inlcusive-I know it is MOntego Bay- far yes but I am not trying to stay in Kingston ($$$$$$$$)- or should I just give in and stay there to be close to the embassy?

Hi there. My fiancee and I just made it through the process and arrived in NC on Friday the 18th. The advice you are getting is right on. I can't tell you how well the advice served us. Please stay positive. I posted my interview story yesterday. But I posted it in the wrong place. I think this is the link. Hope it helps. http://www.visajourn...h...=96&t=27953 :D

I had a lot of trouble completing my final paperwork too. One minute I was head over heels in love - ready to do anything for my man to get here. The next minute I was wondering if I should have my head examined. When I got to the I-134 and saw all the personal financial information I was going to have to disclose, I freaked. But after some prayer (and some wine), I relaxed and decided that I'd rather live with a mistake than a regret. So I took a few deep breaths and pulled it together. I'm so happy I did.

I-134: I attached the last 3 years of my 1040 and W2 forms, a letter from my employer saying I was a regular full time employee in good standing making $xyz annually. I got a letter on bank letterhead with my balances. And I also attached a copy of my mortgage statement and my 401k. I probably didn't need the mortgage or 401k stuff - but I didn't want to take any chances.

They did not ask for a certified copy of my marriage certificate. In fact, since I am divorced, they actually gave me back my marriage certificate. They did take my divorce certificate. I had a certified copy with me but since they didn't ask for it specifically, I didn't provide it. It seemed to be fine.

My fiancee was dead set against overnighting in Kingston. He wanted to leave Negril at 2:30 am and drive. But advice from this forum convinced him otherwise. It was a wise move. The drive to Kingston from Negril was LOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG and tiring. My fiancee drives like a madman. I spent half the trip in prayer, and the other half thinking "gee, I really ought to be praying" :) And all this on a Jamaican holiday! I can't imagine traveling in "rush hour". The stress would have been overwhelming.

We stayed at the Hilton. It was really expensive but very worth it to be so close to the embassy. Just get there early. And apply lots of bug spray before you go.

I liked both Decameron Bay and Sunset Beach. The food at Sunset Beach was better and the set up was pretty decent...but there were lots of kids and it is a more isolated location than Decameron which is right on the Hip Strip. If you go to Sunset, don't stay in the tower above the night club. Its soundproof from the outside but not from within the buidling. The drinks at Decameron were better and I liked the vibe a bit more. But either are nice.

Maybe you get a package deal in Montego Bay and spend the first night there relaxing. Then drive to Kingston the next day, spend the night, and drive back after your interview. You will lose a night at the all-inclusive - but you will get the package deal and have a nice place to come back to.

Well, I tend to write really long emails or not at all. I hope this one helps you. Take care. And again, please stay positive!

thanks Tali, I understand what you say about "One minute I was head over heels in love - ready to do anything for my man to get here. The next minute I was wondering if I should have my head examined. " I feel the same, yesterday I was sure I wanted to get him here today not so much. . . I finally got the things I have together and the way things look if they ask for much evidence then I am gonna go :thumbs down:
I am looking into the Knutsford Hotel. I was thinking of usinf the villa Elizabeth gave me.
Fly down on Air Jamaica and then have them pick me up stay there and then just use the taxi service to the embassy that morning.
I have a question I asked fo rand recieve the veriifcation from my employer bu tI think they did it wrong. They listed everything, shouldn't it be written in letter form? The infomration asked is all there bu tI think it should be in letter form, what you all think?
nigthie-night

Good Morning Ladies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay Close To The Embassy....please!!! Stay Close. I don't find Kingston that expensive. When Henry and I stayed at the Knutsford - it was $95 US per night (probably less if a JA citizen books the room). We got a studio suite - it had a kitchenette and we bought groceries at Superplus and the vegetable/fruit standby by this new mall near Constant Spring Rd and we cooked a few days. Breakfast is free - so we just had to make dinner - lunch was usually fresh fruit and coconut water. Yum! But if you want a nice vacation feeling resorty place - then yeah MoBay makes total sense. Just drive to Kingston crack of dawn the day before the interview - arrive in Kingston in the afternoon and then relax and get ready. Still, check out this chalet in the blue mountains in kingston; its not that expensive and very relaxing. But you need a 4 wheel drive to get up the mountains. http://www.starlightchalet.com/

YOU WILL NOT GET DENIED!!! Don't even put that energy out there.
Thanks Elizabeth- I am gonna check this out. Right knw the Knutsford is running 120 a night. I am trying to find a flight+hotel but for some reason I keep getting Negril or Montego Bay
This is beautiful- my only thing is the driving ( I don't - and I figure I wont  just kidding) wow it is far, I am going to keep this in my favorite file I will need it for my late-honemoon-

I just have this deep feeling, not trying to be negative and bring bad vibes but I just feel it I guess it is the fact that I am geting so closetoteh interveiw.
Things are moving so fast I can't keep up anymore-
my police report is not done
my I134 is nto completed yet.
I have not gotten the certified copy of marrige certificate.
I haven't even filled out the forms ( DS-156, DS 157 DS-2030) how well I am slacking too bad.

GO to DHL Worlwide Express website
Select USA
A new page will open
At the top highlight tracking and click on TRACK BY REFERENCE
In the Reference field type CORRESPONDENCE
For the Shipment date you should select a day before and after the date NVC said they sent your file.

Thank you all fo rthe well wishes.
I am a little bit happier than i was yesterda- our K3 was approved since last week and Ihad not gotten anything but the approval yesterday prompt me to call the NVC-well they said last weks approval should be sent out on Thursday. So Paul's interveiw might be late September or October- which is better than a Decemebr January CR1 interveiw.

Savanphil -I am in the same boat has you, I too am hoping I have enough evidence. I just requested teh letter of verification today and will do the I134 tomorrow and get it notorized.

I have a question for you ladies who have gone through Kng: Should I have Paul get his police certificate now or should I wait until he gets packet 3?

I could try (I am a born Jamaican) to get it but the last time I checked they said i need to have the certificate number for it.

They only one I have is teh one from the state, seeing I got married there at the court house. I was just trying to eliminate speanding and other $30 to get another one from them.

Hummmmmmm......I <believe> the reason why they want a certified birth certificate is to prove that "you" are an American citizen who was born in America. I don't even know what to say in your case....I completely forgot you were born in Jamaica....sorry. I am clueless on that one.

I always go with "better safe than sorry" when it comes to what they are asking you for. Personally, I would spend the $30 and get the certified copy. If you don't give them what they want they will just RFE you and tell you what you need to provide. It's not the end of the world....if you are willing to take that chance and get "held up" in the process for a while.....

Hi Marsha,

Mindy is correct you won't need your birth cert since you wasn't born here unless you are a citizen through your parents. In your case you will need a copy (front & back) of your Certificate of Naturalization.

Hope that helps.

Thanks nysness, no I got my citizenship through my mom's marriage but not from my mom.

Hi ,

You can obtain your B/Certificate from the Register General .All you need to do is provide information on the following :
1.Date of Birth
2.Your name
3. Mother and Father names
4.Place of Birth
This is the procedure when there is no entry number, ask some to visit the Register General in Spanish Town and apply for your B/C and this will take about atmost 2-6 weeks.

Shar

Thanks Shar I was just a little worried about tryingto get the B/C because they said I needd the number but thanks for this little info.

OK TIME TO LAUGH!

These quotes are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters that had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.

I am in a little bind because my mom misplaced my birth paper and i do not have the numbers for it. Is it possible to go to the intereveiw without it?
Also I was reading from the aove post the embassy requires a certified copy of your marriage certificate- can't they just take acopy or use the original? Certified does that mean I can just take it to the notary and have them stamp it?

I don't know about the K3 but I know when they ask for something they usually want it. Can you get another copy of your Birth Certificate from the State?

The "Certified Marriage Certificate" is the one you get from the State after you filed and got married -- not the one the pastor or judge gives you at the ceremony. The certified certificate is an official record of the marriage with the state.

I could try (I am a born Jamaican) to get it but the last time I checked they said i need to have the certificate number for it.

(F) Hello Ladies! It has been a long time since I have written but I have been creeping the forum watching all of your beautiful moments unfold. So much has happened in the past year for all of us, it's so amazing! I am writing now because I need some immediate support.

We have had on and off again discussions about our families and their support (or lack of) in the past. Now it is time for my confessions if you will. I have done all of this immigration and marriage stuff without any of my family members being aware of it. I am close to my family but so distant from them at the same time. My parents and sisters (one of them is starting to understand) have never approved of mine and Henry's relationship for more reasons than racial...over the years it has almost completely vanished from our conversations. When I made the decision to go through with the K1 I made that decision on my own and with the support of my very best friends who knew that I was doing what I had to do. I got married to Henry under the same pretense. For the past year I have had the most wonderful life. I speak with my family every week or so and chit chat about this and that, they never ask me about him and I constantly try to drop his name or talk about things that we have done..etc. My parents live in TX and I have a sister in Boston and Vermont. I have actually only seen them once in the past year so "lying" has been easy but the haunting of this has not.

Yesterday was our one year anniverary and while it was such a rewarding day for us and so accomplishing there was this lingering feeling of major anxiety. I am telling my family today that we eloped yesterday. The idea of telling them that we have been lying for the past year is too excruciating..especially as my mother recently got diagnosed with breast cancer. I don't want them to be too hurt. We have decided that this is the best immediate solution in order to get the truth on the table and keep everyone's feelings in check. Now I am struggling with how to go about this confession. I am making the phone calls tonight. First I will call my parents, then my most opposing sister and finally my happy sister. I'm not even thinking about the immediate family and family friends yet as this is the main priority.

I am so excited to get everything off my chest but also terrified to hear the reactions. I have made a few jokes that I'm going to sit with my bottle of Jack Daniels and just bite the bullet...

If anyone has any advice to offer or is in a similar situation...please share your thoughts. I am waiting for 7PM to come for the first of the three dreaded phone calls. (F)

Good Morning Ladies,

Welcome back sjb1221,
Welcome to the yard Tali,
Doodle, I am sorry I do not have any direct advice except to say keep strong and hold your head up. Hppy be-lated anniversary, and I am so sorry to hear about your mom, {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{doodle}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
