Well another approved K-1 visa interview for you guys! They didnt even ask her any questions and the "interview" took less than a whole minute. The officer just asked "hows your fiance" thats it. He said that he looked at everything and he didnt have any questions. It was super easy.

When we got to Kiev on Friday we had to go for the medical exam which was uneventful, however we did not show up until 11am and we were done about an hour later. You go in and there is just a hall with seats on one side and doors on another. First you have to go into a USA Regristration room and then they give you all the documents and other room numbers you have to go into before you are done. Its first come first serve for each room and the people waiting have a order made of who goes first. It seems like there were more people getting other visas than K-1 or K-3. We decided to wait until 3pm for the results and they even have a nice little cafe in the medical center to sit and wait. The medical center is nice for Ukrainian standards.

As for the interview it again was uneventful. We arrived at the embassy at 8:45am and there was a line to enter. The line consisted of all boys and men though, no women. So i took Tanya and walked right to the front of the line and just walked into the security area, ya know since im a US citizen i can do that. Then we went to the immigration area and there was about 3-4 women sitting already. It kinda reminded me of a DMV but with glass windows. There was a man being trained in that took our documents and organized them into a little folder. It was not rushed and we all took our time. He called both of us up to the window to hand in our documents. Then we had to go and pay and come back with the receipt. Then we waited about an hour, in that time a few other k-1 and k-3 visa applicants came with their men. Tanya was called basically first and like i said she was done about 1 minute later!

We submitted in a VERY organized little 3 ring binder; (2) DS-156K, (1) DS-156, pregnancy letter that was signed and UN-notarized, My I-134 signed and UN-notarized, My 2006 1040's and schedules, My 2006 and 2007 bank statements, My warranty deed and evaluation of my home, My fathers I-134 and his 2006 1040's that were both scanned and emailed(NOT ORIGINALS) and notarized, Proof of our relationships, my passport, color copy of my registration to stay in the Ukraine and passport control stamps, plane tickets to the Ukraine, proof of both of our travels to Egypt, over 100 photos of us and my emails and phone records. From the pregnancy letter i stated i was living with her since Jan 5th 2007 and they can verify that by my passport stamps and Ukraine Regristration. I could tell that all was fine when the officer called her name and had a big smile, im sure our case was over documented and very easy for them. We were kinda nervous because we didnt have my fathers original I-134 or a notarization for my I-134 or the pregnancy letter. But since i was there i can verify the signatures. Plus we included her birth certificate and criminal record and her medical exam, plus translations and copys which are a must of course.

At the embassy there was a ton of men and boys that were Ukrainian that were there for something, it was weird. They were not in the immigration area though. Oh the officer told Tanya that they would issue her visa either today (same day as interview) or tomorrow and she should receive it in a week. Just for the record i would not have had to use a co-sponsor but as i stated above i have been living in Sevastopol with Tanya since Jan 5th 2007 and its September 25th right now!! So just to be safe since i obviously cannot work in the US when im not there, however i do have assets and am self employed so i can do that. Plus we are expecting a child in Jan. 2008.

My personal recommendations are to not show up for the medical exam until 10:30 or 11am as there are tons of people at earlier time i hear, and we started her exam within 5 min. They will get to everyone for the medical exam so dont worry. Plus there is a cafe in the medical center to wait for your results. At the embassy do not wait in line, go right to the front and walk in the security door. All US citizens and K visa applicant get in first. The security at the US Embassy will treat the US citizens like gods, just so you know! Do the DS-156 AND DS-156K online and DO NOT sign them until instructed by the officer. We filled ours online and it saved about 30 min. at the embassy. Some people had to go up to the window 2 or 3 times because of mistakes on their 156 applications. Be very organized in your documents, it does help. Be calm and take your time, nobody at the embassy rushes you in any way. If you can, attend the interview with your fiance(e). It is easy if you are prepared! My finace says that for all the girls DO NOT worry about the interview at all, it is easier than you are expecting!!!!!! For us waiting was the hardest thing, we mean waiting from the time the petition was filed to the visa interview. If anybody reading this wants to know more we will help in any way. My fiance can speak perfect english and is a translator. We can help anybody find apartments or help you get around in Kiev. DONT use a lawyer unless it is a unusual case! We can help and im sure many others like us on this site can and are willing to help for free. You can email us at tsloula@gmail.com. We would like everyones experience to be like ours, no questions asked at the interview right???

Congratulations! kicking.gif

Can anyone tell me, please, how can i find out if kiev got my case from NVC?
and when does it happen?
thanks
Natasha

It took about two weeks for me from the time I got my case # from NVC until the embassy received it. I found out by emailing them at kyivIV@state.gov. They did end up sending me an unsolicited email a couple days later saying the same thing with all the documents attached. They usually respond within a day to email.

Another tactic is to just call the call center, buy your pin, and try to make an appointment. The pin is good for 8 minutes which will let you call about 4 times if they don't have your case yet. It took me three pins but I know I got the best possible appointment as a result, and for that I have no regrets. Good luck!

FYI...they are running about 40 days out right now for appointments.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)The Kyiv Beat......

I want Anna to receive her Visa as soon as possible, of course to get to the USA quickly. But also so that I can return to work ASAP as well. So I am trying to determine if we should stay in Kyiv and hope for the best or if it is not going to make a difference to go ahead and go to Mariupol.
So I am waiting for some recent experience to see how long it is currently taking folks to receive their Visa.
So I am interested in hearing from SkyMas as yours is July 3 so it is going to be some recent info.

I have never been on a train, but I have read some stories, had my own to share on a bus from Kyiv to Mariupol. So we will see what happens.
T.

I have read, and it seems to be confirmed by many Ukraine timelines, that the visa must be sent by FedEx but that you can go pick it up typically the same day from FedEx, rather than waiting for them to ship it to you. It seems like this was quite possible in the past, can anyone confirm that this is still a possibility?

Hi guys..just wanna know your experiences with calling USCIS and doing the RFE trick... does it hurt your case especially if you call often or a lot? Thanks..I am still waiting for my NOA2.. I do pray that I get it this week..

I literally just called. I have no touches so all I got was, "We're working on cases from December so you'll have to wait 6 months." I politely thanked them for the canned response, the same I got two weeks ago. The only downside to calling is about 15 minutes out of your life...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsConfused??
I've heard this scenario before and there is some truth to it, but not for a K-1. Before the Adam Walsh act about 6 months ago, going DCF was the quickest route to a visa. If everything was assembled, a 1-2 month wait to visa was doable. Unfortunately I no longer believe this is the case due to Adam Walsh, and the new process is not nearly as quick. I'm not an expert on DCF, but the posts I've read on VJ about it seem to be inline with what you have heard.

Ok I have seen some approved NOA2's recently..... What I want to know is my NOA1 was received April 9th. Now it says on here Aug 2 as adjucation date and it takes 113 days (USCIS time) for processing. Why has some people got there NOA2 and I am still waitinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg!!!!!!

Please let me know your thoughts.

CSC has finally started processing again, at least last week they were. You should be due soon if your NOA2 is April 9th. I suggest checking out:

http://www.visajourn...showtopic=61986

This is a very good thread that will help shed some light on our common plight.

And don't worry about VJ predictions, it's better to scan the immigration timelines section. Sort by NOA1 date, CSC, go to about page 15 and you will see what people with similiar timelines are experiencing.

Good luck to you and us all.

Are you sure it's an NOA2? If you just received your NOA1 yesterday there is no chance unless you had your case expedited somehow. If you did, then kudos as most of us are waiting 3-6+ months to get our NOA2. My best advice is to go to the US embassy in Cuba's website, they should have the forms and all the info you need for the final phase. Good luck.

Is it just me or has anyone of us have noticed that April 12 NOA1 are stuck!? I mean before the 12th and after 12th they are all gettting assigne, touched, and approved... what's up?

There are still many 9th, 10th, and 11th filers yet to be processed. The 12th hasn't come up yet probably because the dates before it aren't complete, including many on the 9th. The 10th has 2 of 7 CSC/TSC/NSC approved and and the 11th has 1 of 6, the same ratio as the 12th. There is no justified reason to think you are 'stuck' at this time, we will be approved soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMARCH FILERS!!!

I thought I would start a fresh thread for the March filers. I'm a March 1 NOA1!!!! Good luck all!!!

Well I sent my info in on March 27, 2007. I got my receipt notice, but how long is this going to take I hope my finace' is over her by Christmas.....and also how does the processing steps work for the I-129f....I think that has me confused the most.
Thanks....and Good luck everyone!!!

After you get your first receipt notice (NOA1), you get to wait for around 3 months until you get your first approval (NOA2) or RFE (Request for more evidence). Even with an RFE, you will submit the required missing evidence and then get your NOA2 from CSC. After you get your NOA2, which should be soon for you, the case is sent to the NVC (National Visa Center) for additional screening. After this process the application is then forwarded off to the embassy in the beneficiaries country. The time from NOA2 to the consulate receiving the package, is usually 3-4 weeks. One they receive it, you can make an appointment for your interview. In this time, the beneficiary will need to get a medical exam and procure all the paperwork the embassy requires, a list of which which I am sure can be found on their website. This final process take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, and it looks like the Bahamas is very fast. In all likelihood, your fiance will be here for Christmas, probably long before Thanksgiving. Good luck and I would suggest filling in your timeline, it helps all of us here to be able to follow it.

How long on average does NVC take?

The NVC is taking a while for some right now, but in general it takes about a week to get from the service center, after the NOA2, to the NVC. They process it for a couple of days typically, and then they send it to the appropriate embassy which can take from a few days to a few weeks. It's best to look at the NVC time as from the day you get the NOA2 until the embassy actually receives the package so you can set an interview appointment. This total time is usually 3-4 weeks or so. The final stage, the interview, depends on how quick you can get the paperwork (police cert, translated docs, financials, 156 forms, and medical exam) done, and how fast your embassy is. You can check here: http://travel.state....sitors_wait.php You can usually get everything together, except the medical, while you are waiting for your paperwork to get to the embassy, thereby cutting down the total time to visa.

Ritas,

You do not need the certificate to my knowledge, but my fiance had the 'free to marry' certificate for her interview just in case. I think it's only going to be an issue if you were married to prove that you are now not only divorced, but haven't remarried.

Check out the Kyiv forum as well, it may help you out a bit.

Hi everyone!
Has anyone who is waiting that long to reach NVC tried to contact your congressmen regarding that ridiculous wait. It just insane. No verification, no decision that needs to be made, just simply sitting in a mail room and waits to be shipped. May be congressional inquiry on each personal case can move it finally out?

I've tried, they allegedly got it 'expedited' out after about two weeks in the mailroom, but it still didn't get sent for another week or two despite the congressional inquiry. I wasn't able to set my appointment until about 7 weeks after my NOA2. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your situation is likely only to be better than mine and before you know it your SO will be here....good luck!

Congratulations, that's fantastic!!!

A quick update on my deal, I tried to get my interview moved up via my congressman, unfortunately we were denied yesterday. Nonetheless, it is exactly four weeks from today until her interview. She received the interview materials from me today via DHL, so everything is set. Now if I can just make it a few more weeks...

I haven't posted in awhile with any updates on on where my fiancee and I stand, so I'll give a brief update for those of you still reading. I first should say congrats to all of you who have arrived at NVC and made it out to the Embassy. For those of you with interview dates set, I can honestly say that Lena and I wish you god's speed and hope you get approved, get the Visa quickly and without delay, and that you're reunited as soon as you both desire.

Tomorrow wll be exactly 5 weeks since we arrived at NVC. I have not contacted them since the 12th of September, and only yesterday took a stab in the dark ad sent an email to th Embassy to see if they may have received it since then. I received my reply today and it is not there. So, tomorrow evenin I'll call NVC and inquire once again about where we are at. In a call on September 7th to NVC I did ask specific questions regarding the file, and was told we were NOT in Admin Review, NOT stuck in Name Checks, and was told we were waiting to be sent out. That was nearly 3 weeks ago, and I have to believe that even though the CSR seemed sincere and polite on the phone, something is going on. I have a packet of information ready and waiting for Thursday morning to send off to one of my State Senators, and hope that if they are sitting on it, that my Senator can render some aid in getting some clarification.

I can't begin to tell all of you how difficult it is after the 119 day wait for the NOA2, the 17 day wait to be sent to NVC, and now the 5 weeks of not knowing when or how the file will be sent out. October 7th will leave 60 days validity to the petition, although I guess I can request an extension from Kyiv, and will have to do so if needed. My finacee and her daughter completed their Medicals today, we have our case number, everything is in place, just not the file at the Embassy.

We will wait as long as needed. I never dreamed that I would be going through this mess at this phase. Neither of us has ever applied before, have any record of any type, are both working college educated professionals, and have provided a ton of evidence of the relationship including my 3 trips to visit in the past 13 months. From my perspective I just have no idea of what sort of delay we are experiencing and am clueless as to why this is happening.

I will update everyone when we finally are sent out. I wish everyone luck in the mean time, and welcome prayers, or crossing of fingers from anyone.

Did you make the call today? Any news? Here's wishing you the best....

I finally got an interview date this morning. It's on the 2nd of November which is almost exactly 3 months from my NOA2 even though it's only 40 days from today. Nonetheless I'm relieved that it's finally set.

NOA2 for K1 on Aug. 21 and still no NVC notification. tried to use automated system with my WACxxxxx number and it comes up, unknow number. sent email but no response. trying to get through to operator but no success yet. thoughts / suggestions ?
thanks,

Gullyracer, you need to call NVC at 603-334-0700, press 1 then 5 to get an operator. It may take a few times to get through, but you will. Give them you WAC# and ask if they have your case. If they do, they will give you a new case number and tell you when/if they have sent it to the embassy. Good luck!
