Hello all.

I just received NOA2 approvals 2 weeks ago. How does one track the progress now? To NVC and to embassy? I tried calling but only get automated responses, impossible to speak to human there.
Thanks in advance, you all make this long process much more bearable.

Thank you for the input. I just tried calling again and the computer does not accept receipt numbers that start with "MSC" as mine does. So it then transfers me to automated responses again. Any input is greatly appreciated.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 in hand, entered in USA, now what?

:help: My wife has now been granted her K3 visa and is here in the USA with me, thank GOD! I am not sure what to file now that she is here. In our form 230 it asks if we would like the sharing of our info for a Social Security number, does this mean they are going to send that to us in the mail now? I am thinking i need to file form I485 for adjustment of status, but the form asks for social numbers and I9 numbers, which of course we do not have. So do we need to go to our local Social office to get a number? I am confused again, thanks in advance for your help once again.

Ok, thank you for the input. I have everything filled out for the AOS now, but still hung up on the I-94. I do not know what the I-94 is. Is it the pink sticker with numbers on the very back of the passport put there by the embassy? Or is it some paper that the customs still has at the airport? Please tell me what the I-94 is and looks like with what info on it. Thanks a million again. We appreciate all the input very much.

Thanks again, we never recieved an I-94, hope we can get one before the price of the AOS goes up in July. Is it absolutely necessary to send an I-94 copy with the AOS application for a K-3 visa? We have everything else ready to send. Can we perhaps send in a form asking for replacement of the I-94 with the AOS app? Sorry, I ask too many questions. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

We never recieved the I-94 paper in her passport. The customs did ask a couple questions and stamp her visa page with an admission date and expiration date into the U.S. The only other little card we have is immigration exit card stamped from Peru. I read in the I-485 instructions that we can submit other evidence of her "status here". Would a copy of the Peru exit card and the stamp of entry into the U.S. be good enough? Or what else could we use instead? Also, will we absolutely need an I-94 for anything if we do not plan on leaving the U.S. until she is permanent resident? Thanks Vjers, you guys are the best, you all know more than uncle sam sometimes!

I say that if their exclusion would show a large gap in the period since you've been married, include them with a note attached that states that while there shows less activity during your husband's period of unemployment, you maintained a joint account.
[/quote]

Thanks!
that's more like an answer i've been looking for. I was thinking that explanaition should be in the cover letter but note attached to our "bank part" of evidence is probably a better idea.

Is it a requirement to submit every bank statement from beginning to end?

Health insurance is not a factor except as one form of evidence that you are in a bona fide marriage. One recent bank statement in both names should be more than enough to provide further evidence.

No, it's not a requierment to provide every single bank statements. In my undrestanding, it is important to make sure, that the evidence covers whole two years though. Our 2007 evidence just looks worse. Thats why i'm concerned and i think that maybe i should let them know why.

Thanks for responding guys!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioncover letter with explanation?
Hi everyone!

We're gathering our paperwork to lift the condition off my greencard and i have a question about the gap we have in our bank statements and health insurance. My husband lost his job at the beginin of 2007 and didn't start working again till October 2007. Because of that we lost health insurance for over a year and our checking and savings accounts activity is visibly smaller on the statements from 2007.

Should i explain that in the cover letter? I don't want it to look suspcious for them but on the other hand i don't know if explaining it isn't to much....?

besides that we have taxes, lease agreement, some bills, private corespondence, affidavits from friends, new health insurance and our bank accounts show more activity now

Hey everyone, I'm so excited that I found this site. We're just starting the process and it's a little overwhelming to say the least. My fiance is in Auckland finishing up law school, he won't be done until November. Does anyone know if there is a time limit on getting approved for a K1 and then getting over here to the US?

I'm filling out the G-325a form and it asks for a File #. What is this and do I have one? lol. Then at the bottom it has a box for Applicant and asks for an Alien Registration #. Sorry for the questions but I don't want to do anything wrong that is going to hold this process up. Thanks

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed Advice
Hey everyone, I'm a little confused at which path we should take. My husband and I got married in NZ in June. I was there a month then had to return to the US to be with my daughter. My husband is finishing up school in Oct. and then it will just be a waiting game for his visa. Is the K3 the best bet or should we just focus on the C1. We would have filed already but it's been a waiting game with money. Any help would be much appreciated, I have looked over everything numerous times but it still makes my head spin!

Russia, Ukraine and Belarusairfare to Russia
I've flown many times back and forth from the ukraine the last several months and have found a couple of good sites that search the other travel engines and typically provide consolidator tickets which can be far cheaper. Check bt-store.com and mobissimo.com. Between the two you should find the best prices available on the net. You can also try Primefares.com which is really just a front for a travel agency. However, Gary at Primefares (877) 687-3273 x102 was able to get me the best price and best flight for this journey. I would recommend him to anyone traveling internationally.

Visa Approved!!

I just now got off the phone with Lena. She had a longer than anticipated wait at the embassy. Her appointment was at 09.30 and she called me at 12.52 Kyiv time so all in all she was in the Embassy for over 4 hours.

She said that she waited for over 2 hours for the interview itself, and they DID take fingerprints from her which I suspected was going to happen given we were stuck at NVC for a solid 5 weeks. I think that she most likely had a near hit on name checks while there and they had to do it.

She said like everyone else has said that the interview itself was pretty short, and non-eventful. She said the consulate officer was American and complimented her on her English specifically saying she had a "nice accent" which she took to mean her speech is very clear and understandable. He then seemed to engage more in small talk with her asking her if she was going to live here in Madison, and then telling her that it is a great place to live and that he has been here. He commented about the University of Wisconsin being here and their large Slavic Studies department (maybe he's alumni?) and then give her the slips to pay for the return of the passports etc.

She said he didn't look at anything she brought in, and that he briefly looked at the I-134, but returned everything. She was asked if she had ever had a name change from her previous marriage (which she had not, always maintaining her maiden name) but nothing else.

So, I'll keep everyone up to date on her arrival. Right now we are looking at Monday November 5th for her and Sasha (her daughter) to arrive.

I really would like to thank all of you for the support, and FWAGUY for starting this thread. It really did help us prepare and certainly helped me keep my sanity during the wait.

E.

Congrats my friend!!! I wish you and Lena the best!

The Embassy will NOT schedule an interview until they have the hard copy of the petition in their system. Once you have the KEV number from NVC get the medical out of the way, and make certain your other needed documents are sent soon.

The lead times for interviews have dropped a bit since this past summer. I think 8 weeks is a stretch, more like 35-45 days right now. I looked through timelines from last fall, and they seem to drop around this time of year, and as some of the announced interview dates have come in over the past several weeks, I think you can expect them to be closer to the range I quoted above.

As you pointed out the mailrooms are bogged down and NVC will see your petition in about a month. Start calling NVC in a couple of weeks to see if they have received it and when they have get the KEV number over the phone.

The NVC rep told me as soon as I had a KEV# I could contact the embassy in Kiev. I did as soon as I got one and it worked.

I recall an official wait-time being listed somewhere on the State Dept. website somwhere for the embassies. Anyone remember where it is?

You never received any notification from NVC and I would guess the Embassy had your hard copy of the petition when you called. Trust me, they won't do it unless it is there. The Embassy used to have a statement on the Fiance/ee visa page that would say something like "now scheduling interviews for the week of.." but they stopped doing that some around the end of May/early June.

State Department dates do not show the "Immigrant Visa" types. Just the others, or at least that is what I saw last time I looked. Although the K-1 is classified as a non-immigrant it does go to the IV unit in Kyiv.

Etripke is right, about 35-45 days from the time you call and it will take them about 10-15 days or so from the time it is sent from NVC to the embassy before they can put it in their system. Then you can call the call center and make an appointment. Believe me, I tried from the moment I got the KEV# from NVC, they will not have it in their computer system until the embassy enters it. You may always get lucky though like Etripke and get an appointment a couple weeks out wink.gif Speaking of Etripke, good luck to you on Monday my friend, I can't wait to hear of your approval.

Have a nice weekend all...

From my travel experience to the Ukraine, there are two great sites out there for USA / Ukraine travel:

1. mobissimo.com - it searches nearly all other engines and many the other foreign airlines / engines / consolidators your expedias and orbits don't. Plus there are no issues buying tickets that don't originate in the US. You will usually get the best price here compared to anywhere on the net.

2. bt-store.com - it is consolidator and standard flight search engine, and occasionally the consolidator prices are quite low. I went roundtrip with one layover from SFO to KBP for just over $600 this year. They have a special thing with KLM/NWA where they buy in bulk and then resell them to the public, which is almost always below what you'd find in a regular search engine, even the airlines search engine. I've booked two trips here on KLM/NWA.

There may be others, but I've been about five times in the last year and these have consistenly worked out the best for me.

Good luck and happy flying.
