National Visa Center (Dept of State)emailing DS3032
I send my choice of agent by email (gmail-account) on the 27th of November. Right away I got the automatic response. On the December 5 they replied accepting my choice of agent and 3 days later I recieved DS-3032 in the mail. This way I saved about a week or maybe even 10 days!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-230 - Now required 2 Passport size pictures?!?!
I'm very sorry for you, but I'm glad you had this RFE too!! We got an RFE on the 29th!!!!!!! for the same reason. I really can't believe this, since I'm 100% sure it's not in the general instructions, so how can they just change something like this.....
Today I send two passport photo's to my husband so he can send them out as soon as he gets the checklist.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)rfe DS230
I just talked to an operator myself and the RFE is a for a missing photograph(s?). She mentioned something about passphoto(s?) and it should be mentioned in the instruction page of the DS-230. I looked at the instruction and can't find anything about it. Just a copy of the biographic page of my passport, civil documents and copies and the DS-230 itself.
Does anyone know how many photographs I need and if they are suppose to be the American passport style (measurements?!)???

National Visa Center (Dept of State)rfe DS230
Well, my husband just managed to get through at the NVC and talked to an operator. She said that we got an rfe because we needed to send in photographs?! I can't find that back anywhere and apparently she said it was something new. I summited with all the original civil document a photocopy of them so I doubt that's what is missing.
Not much we can do than just wait for the checklist I guess......

When you have a rfe for the DS-230 can you get information from an operator? I really don't know what the rfe would be and would like to go ahead and send whatever they want/need to my husband so he could send it out as soon as he recieves the DS-230 back.

karla5001, don't be to worried that they lost your case (although they are stupid enough there). When I called to find out where I got an RFE for they assured me that everything was checked and good, just needed to sent in the pictures. Since you had to chance the DS-230 itselfs it probably takes longer to get completed. They still need to check the whole document. I don't know how long that can take though, hopefully soon......

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Has someone got an RFE last month and the case got completed
karla5001 hopefully you will hear pretty soon that your case is completed!
I talked to an operator at the NVC and interviews are scheduled in the second week of March, so you still might get an April interview date (depends on the waiting time of your consulate or embassy). Only a few embassies/consulates plan their own appointments.

For people who got their case completed it's kind of funny to track it down on de DHL-site. Somebody posted this before and it really works! You go to the DHL-site and choose tracking by references. My case was completed on the 25th of Februari so I searched for EXP 26 FEB 2008A (don't ask me where it all stands for) and you get a whole list with packages mailed out that day and one of them is on it's way to Amsterdam (must be mine!!).

Just heard my case was completed on Februari 25!!!!!
The RFE (passport pictures) was entered into their system on the 20th so it took only 5 days to complete : )

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Has someone got an RFE last month and the case got completed
I got an RFE for the DS-230 on Januari 30th for the two passport pictures. They recieved them on Februari 20 and since then we're waiting. When I talked to the operator to find out where the RFE was for they told me that everything was good, just needed to sent the pictures. I heard different stories about the time it takes to get the case completed, it varies between 5 to 21 days (everage).
The time till your interview depends on the embassy it's sent to. Sometimes there is quite a waiting line..........

I'm a little confused about your question regarding the USCIS, since I assumed the first few questions has to do with the NVC (maybe I misunderstood your questions than). The dates given on the USCIS site deal with the approval/disapproval of the visa application (probably in your case the I-129 or I-130). The dates day nothing about a date on which it is completed, just the date on which they started your application. (please correct me if this isn't true)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)how does NVC keep you updated?
Zoals YuandDan al schreven komt de K1 informatie niet op het automatisch systeem aangezien de doorloop tijd kort is! Je zult dus met iemand moeten spreken.

Like YuandDan already wrote, the K1 information is not added to the automatic message system because they pass the NVC quick. So you have to talk to an operator.

Hi Eresh,

I was told the same story when I called yesterday. Done with the scheduling for March and to call back in April. This was around 4 pm in Europe. About 12 hours later my husband called me that we got an interviewdate set for May 6th! I really don't know what to believe now, but if it's true I hope this will happen to you too!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPretty sure he doesn't need a transit visa, but....
It all depends on the company you fly with. Some do transfer your bags, others don't. But like you said, you chance companies so for sure you have to recollect your bags and check in again in Amsterdam. And I might be wrong but I think at the moment all transfers to the USA have to recheck their bags due to the security checks.

But I don't really understand your question. There are huge signs where to pick up your lugguage and where to check them in again. Also at the transfer counters which you pass on your way to the baggage belts they can help you explain where to go and what to do.

I might be wrong but I doubt your fiance has to stay in the transfer area. Pretty much all countries are issued a tourist visa whenever you pass the passportcheck and you're allowed to go where ever for 3 months.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHelp, Medical Denied
[quote name='grapeeyes' date='Jun 22 2009, 05:16 PM' post='3050875']
Ok, my husband had his medical in London today. The doctor told him he failed due to high blood pressure. She said that he would have to see his regular doctor, get his blood pressure down, then take the medical over again (paying their fee again). In reading the statute, blood pressure is not a valid reason to deny the medical. I have no idea what to do next. This really really is heart breaking. I need my husband. Its been so long already. Any suggestions please, I don't know what we can do next. Below is a copy of the statute.

I'm a little surprised about this. I have very high blood pressure (180/105), went for my medical, was told that it is very high and have to do something about it, they forwarded my medical test to the embassy for my interview and never heard back from it. I never heard that a doctor can deny the medical, just give their advise to the embassy if you might become a burden to the state based on your health.

Good luck, wish I could give you any advise.....

When I went through the immigration process you couldn't request the police certificate yourself. Whenever the US embassy in Amsterdam receives the completed file they will request the police certificate. Unless this has been changed recently, you cannot request the police certificate.

US Citizenship General Discussionclasses for civics test?
QUOTE (Collie @ Jul 10 2009, 09:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Has anyone taken a class to help with the civics questions? I am considering doing this as history has never been my strongest subject (give me Biology or Biochemistry any day!).

I don't know though if there is one held near where I live (Fort Worth, Texas) and would have to start checking the schools and colleges.

Not sure if they give classes for the civics test, but if you like to learn US history through classes you can get enrolled at a (community) college and follow the two US history classes they offer. I took them online, but it takes a whole semester. You could purchase just the books and read it, there is a lot more covered in the classes offered than asked at the civic test.

Just want to share my interview experience in case other people go throught the San Antonio, TX office and are curious.

Appointment was 05/20/2011 at 1.15 pm but we were 30 minutes early. Only waited about 10 minutes until I was called in. The officer went through the N-400 application and only asked if we were renting or owning the house we're living in. Never asked for any documentation, no passport (was requested to bring in the yellow letter I received), no IRS tax returns, nothing. It only took 15 minutes total. I can't remember all the questions I had but for the writing test I had to write: "California has the most people", and a few of the civic's test questions were: "which ocean is on the west coast", "what is one of the states bordering Canada", "how many senators are there". All very easy and quick. Hopefully I receive my oath letter soon and good luck to others still waiting for their interview letter!

Saterday I received a yellow colored letter from the USCIS. It states:

USCIS recommends you bring the following documents to your interview:
"Bring all passports and travel documents (including expired and current) issued to you by any government".

I'm not worried because I haven't been out of the country anything close to the 180 days, but I was wondering if there are more February filers who received a yellow letter.

ChinaAny Chinese citizen living abroad applying K-1 in a foreign country?

???????????K-1 visa??

Hi VJ ers,

I am born and raised in China, been living in the Netherlands since 7 years ago, first came here for college then later on got a good job so I stayed. Met my fiancee at work, he is an US consultant working here in the Netherlands. We are waiting for NOA2.

Is there anyone who shares similar story with me? Being a Chinese citizen but applying your K-1 /K-3 in a different country. :star:

Hello,
I'm in a similar situation like you but i'm not chinese. I'm African and studying here since 2010, met my Fiancee online in October and we met physically in Amsterdam in February. I'm also waiting for my NOA2.

Yes, your fiance can come with you to your interview.

Some questions they asked:

How did you meet?

Have you met his mother and do you get along with her?

How did he propose?

Are you planning a church wedding or a civil service?

US Citizenship General DiscussionA few short N400 questions
Thanks all for answering, I appreciate!

So it's not that, even if you're older than 26, they kind of expect you to sign up for Selective Service as some kind of 'unwritten condition' to become a USC? My interview letter said that I should bring 'Any evidence of Selective Service Registration'. Just wondering why they ask this if they can see on file that I'm already 32 and I would assume that the YOU MUST BRING items in the interview letter are specific for just that applicant. Anyways, just don't want to get the question; "You want to become a USC but didn't want to sign up for Selective Service? Wondering if this has ever been brought up in other interviews and if they have a valid point here or not. Thanks!

US Citizenship General DiscussionA few short N400 questions
I'm having my naturalization interview next month and have just a few questions;

-For naturalization, does every male has to sign up for selective service? (I became a LPR 3 years ago when I was 29 years old)
-Neither my wife or I have ever been married before, do I need to bring proof of this to the interview to show that neither of us have ever been married? If so, where would I get this document?

That's all! Thanks for answering.

US Citizenship General Discussion2 Naturalization interview letters
Hi all,

Last Friday, March 19, I've had my Naturalization interview and passed. The officer couldn't give me an answer yet since my 3 year anniversary won't be until another week from now. But, he said, there are no problems with your case so after your 3 year anniversary you will receive a letter for the oath.
On the same day as my interview, March 19, an RFE was sent out to me which I received today. It turned out that it's the same invite for the Naturalization interview, but now for the date of April 30 2010. It was exact the same letter that I received for my March 19 interview.
Can I assume this was sent out as an error? Anyone else have experienced this?

US Citizenship General DiscussionHouston, Tx Interview

So, Ihad the interview last Wednesday. She asked stuff like where I met my wife, where she works, when her birthday is, and some other related questions. Wanted to see tax returns and bank statements and nothing else. Was kind of wondering about this, but dosen't really matter I guess. Then she said she will recommend it for approval. I had the interview 2 days before the 3 year period was up. We are on vacation right now and the oath ceremony would have been this Wednesday. DIdn't know it might take only a week. But now it's on June 16th. I guess I can wait that one month. It still says online that it is in "testing and interview". Takes some time to update?
Also, what am I supposed to wear to the ceremony? I saw it on TV once and they all were wearing normal clothes. But that was a huge ceremony in a stadium. The letter says NO jeans. Some people I saw were wearing just regular clothes. Guess it depends on where it is... So a suit would be ok?

My status still says "testing and interview" and I had my oath on April 30 2010, It'll probably never change since that system is messed up.
I don't think it really matters what you'll wear, whatever you think looks nice so a suit would be perfect. Tschüss.

US Citizenship General DiscussionAnybody else has/had problems with..

I am an atheist and anti religion. Just in January the ruling was reverse and this phrase was deemed acceptable...again.
Honestly, I don't give a ####### if "Our forefathers have used this God thing in the Declaration of Independence, US Constitution, Bill of Rights, on the money we earn and pay taxes with, so you may look upon God as being the spirit that formed this once great country". It's clear what they want to say. It's not really about any "Spirit". But as long as I don't have to say it myself and can say " I do", I'm alright with it. It's too bad that it is that way. lol once great country?

Haven't gotten the letter yet. Can't say. I thought someone could tell me what they wore. But I'll just wear a suit then.

Thanks

You can wear nice pants (khaki, dockers or colored pants) together with a button down shirt or a polo shirt, I thinks that's what most men wear but it's actually not something you should be worried about. Just wear something you like and feel comfortable in.

Dont say everything is stupid and bad in the USA! Most ppl i've met from america have been really nice! Most ppl are also very helpfull! This is just government you are dealing with, thats in all countries the same and im sure in Poland too.
Poland isnt always the best either otherwise ppl wouldnt come to other countries to work. I know 4 polish ppl that are working in NL, then why don't they work in Poland if everything is better there?

Just relax...you approval will come. But not if you are going to get all into public, then it might end up that you never will get the K1 visa...

Judith,

You're good to go to start the K1-process! Be sure you keep the Notice of Action. They asked for mine when I went for my interview in Amsterdam. It was kind of weird since the whole application process took so long that I had already fulfilled the 2-year residency requirement. I was glad I brought it with me, because I didn't think they would need it for something anymore. Not sure if I had to, but I included a copy of the J1 and waiver when I started my application process.

United KingdomAmsterdam Airport Customs/Immigration
QUOTE (Shari @ Jul 9 2009, 03:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
goofy.gif My step-daughter is leaving the US on Sunday to return to England after a trip here to visit. I just realized she only has a 1-1/2 hour layover in Amsterdam before flying on to Manchester. She flies out of Memphis, TN to Amsterdam so I believe she will have to go through Customs/Immigration when she arrives in Amsterdam. I am now worried 1-1/2 hours is not sufficient time for her flight from the US to arrive in Amsterdam, go through Customs/Immigration, and catch her flight out to Manchester. Anyone go through Customs/Immigration in Amsterdam that knows how long it might take? Thanks! goofy.gif

As long as her plane is not delayed she should have enough time. Immigration is much faster in the Netherlands than in most places in the US. Most my husband has stood in line is 10 minutes, and it took 2 minutes to go through. They sometimes ask nothing, sometimes just what your purpose is of travelling. A little different than my wait at Houston airport for 2 hours and than have to answer stupid questions for another 20 minutes (eg "do you have parents?", no I fell out if the sky one day....)

What usually takes the longest is obtaining your lugguage, but maybe they are connected through in her case. It can take up to 30/40 minutes till they have your lugguage out, if it is around lunch time or whenever they decided to take a coffee break......

Don't worry, 1 hour is enough time change planes in Amsterdam, if you don't stroll along.
