I am home alone, husband is at work.
I mentioned in off topic my husband was in a wreck yesterday. There were a lot of car accidents due to a freak rain storm which instantly turn to ice. the sidewalks were so icy you could barely stand up. They had to close the viaducts that go over the railroad tracks because cars and trucks couldn't make it over them. One of our vehicles was damaged about 1300 dollars to fix. Thank goodness we have full coverage on it, but most of all I am very thankful my husband didn't get hurt. After work all i wanted to do was hug and kiss him and was very very grateful nothing happen to him.

I am so sick of winter and can't wait for spring!!!!!

awwww the poor yallah middle east thread. :(

I finally got my living room the way I want it decorated.. I couldn't find curtains or drapes to go with my furniture, but yesterday at Target I found some..took long enough. Now I have to tackle the downstairs.

Snow Snow Snow . It's snowing again. I am so tired of the snow!!!!

I've got Bamia simmering on the stove... your recipe :luv: Smelling deLISH....

I love Target -- low on expense, high on style. (I got my curtains & sheers there, too !)

Everytime we go to Target my husband finds shirts for like 3 or 4 dollars and buys them and later complains he had too much clothes. hahaha. We made bamia 2 weeks ago helps when you fry the okra beforehand gets rid of most of the gooey-ness.

I often wonder how people can deal with living in areas where it snows in the winter. Too much work for me and waaaay too cold. :P However, California is full, so please don't come here. :D

Yes, I'm just kidding. I love the diversity here and though it is overcrowded, I guess there's always room for more right? :)

hehehehe with the cost of living no way!! Would like to visit someday though.

anyone can still post here! i made it so anyone can express their thoughts or opinions, but lately nobody has been posting in it.
It was just like a venting thread especially if you are going through a long immigration process. it's still ok to use if you have something you want to get off your shoulders during the process and don't feel comfortable during it in another thread. I know us people going through Jordan can empatize because we wait over a year before our husbands can finally come over. so it's like a venting thread nobody used. Anyone with a SO from any ME/NA country can use it because most of use ME (jordan) use to use to to say damn it my immigration process is taking a long time. etc......

When did this get unpinned?

I was just wondering the same thing. Thought I was at the wrong forum with seeing only one pinned thread...

Happy New Years Everyone from me and Anmar!

Been busy with the new house taking all my time and don't really have time to log in and post. Congrats to everyone who's been reunited and recently married.
Welcome to all the new people who join!

Congrats on your new house!

Thanks LuLu, hope everything is well with you!!

We are all moved into our home now. Although we have boxes downstairs everywhere :) Most of the upstairs is unpacked. It has been keeping me really busy. I have no internet until Wednesday. That sucks oh well I can keep up with the news on VJ at work.

I spent last night alone I was totally creeped out. I am not use to being in a big house all by myself. Anyways I couldn't sleep I tossed and turned all night. Anmar was at work until 3:30am. Finally when he came home I was able to sleep a few winks. Now I am thinking maybe I got too big of a house..sigh! I guess I was just use to living with people next door I just have to get use to it.

Hope everyone is well!

Angel

Congratulations, on the new house. It is a great feeling isnt it? We are enjoying our new house too. We got everything put away and in it's place, inside. The storage room outside is a different story. Hachemi and I will tackle that after New Years. Got the yard raked front and back. His parents are making plans to come visit next year.

Meriem (F)

thanks meriem! it is a great feeling. It has been keeping us very busy plus we both work, so we hardly have time to put things away yet.
We finally got our internet hooked up. We had one phone jack which we never noticed, and the line was disconnected from the phone box outside. My husband had to rewire the phone line and put in new phone jacks it saved us money from having the phone company install a new line and jacks which would have cost a lot of money. I am just glad we have the internet again. I was getting bored there for a while. :)

We have all these trees surrounding our property and we had an ice storm and the surrounding neighbors tree branches were breaking off. All I could think about was oh no if ours start breaking and falling into other people's yards and damaging their property we are responsible :o ah well ours didn't break off thank god!!

Hope everyone is well. Happy Holidays!!

 I wish I could just dump the drawers with all kinds of papers in them in a trash bag!

btw I would recommend watching the movie YES with Joan Allen and Simon Abkarian. That was a good movie!!!! In the movie Joan Allen is an Irish woman who grew up in America and Simon Abkarian was an immigrant from Lebanon living in England.

My husband went to work at 2:30pm to 3:00am he's now working three 12 hour days saturday thru monday was weird to say to him see ya tomorrow. So today I'll be watching movies. I just watched La Mujer de mi Hermano (the wife of my brother) It was ok. The actress Barbara Mori is a beautiful woman. Next on the list Novo with Eduardo Noriega. I just got that one cuz he's cute and a good actor I liked him in Burnt Money.

Amal did the trip get any better? Hope you had a safe trip home.

Do you get the Spanish channels free, or are you watching DVDs? We have to pay extra for the Spanish channels here, which sucks because it would be a great way for me to practice listening to Spanish for class. Do you speak Spanish too?

I rent dvds and yes I speak spanish I also took two years in college to speak formal spanish had a teacher who grew up in Argentina and she spoke spanish like they do in Argentina it almost sounded Italian. The only bad thing is if you don't practice and use it all the time you forget a lot.

Thanks everyone!

Rahma when I get to go back inside and look around I'll snap some pictures and post them. There is one on the net but it shows the address and you can't right click and save the picture. it's a two level house top and basement. I had to have a basement because we live in tornado alley

Middle East and North AfricaNew Information for the Embassy in Amman Jordan

Is there anyone currently at the NVC level who's petition is headed to Amman Jordan or is there anyone who is currently filing a petition for a SO and will be going through Amman?

I just read in the Immigration News forum that petitions heading to Amman will be going to Athens Greece

"On a separate note, but for those who may be interested, I was also told at the beginning of this week that cases designated for the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan are currently being deferred to Athens, Greece. If your case is currently designated for Amman, you will want to stay in touch with the NVC throughout your processing to see which Embassy/Consulate will be taking your case."

I really doubt this. I only know that Lebanease petitions were at some point in the pat were handeled in Greece but this is when there was no american embassy. As for Amman, it is highly unlikely. Safety is not an issue.

I keep hearing people talk about the Iraq flow to Jordan and backlog they are creatring.....Question: does the ammerican embassy process visas in Iraq?!

Note: At the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, we only accept applications for three types of nonimmigrant visas (Diplomatic and Government Officials, Representatives to International Organizations, and USG-funded exchange visitors). All other nonimmigrant and immigrant visa applications must be filed at another U.S. Embassy or Consulate outside of Iraq.

If nobody looked in the immigration news forum the answer I receieved was this

"I would assume due to the conflict in the Israel and Jordan region that the cases are being sent to Athens for the safety of the applicants and consular officers. I am not aware of the exact reason though.
This information was provided to be by an NVC operator. I apologize for not having a solid basis to substantiate my information; my lack of evidence is the reason I suggested to call the NVC to double check."

Angel, thank you for the heads up as I sent out my I130 and jsut got the reciept and I am mailing off my I-129f tomorrow. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. I guess if they process much faster then it will be a good thing. I guess I better start saving money incase he needs to travel to Greece. Well I guess I can start putting the money in the HBSC account that we are getting as a joint account so he has quick access.

Thanks again not sure if things will change before our file gets anywhere but it is always best to be prepared.

I left a question for the visa parnter asking why cases are being deferred to Athens, Greece. Most likely because of the overflow from Iraq, but we'll see what he has to say.
