US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAfter final interview approved
QUOTE (dylan.evans @ Oct 16 2007, 09:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If K-1 visa is approved at final interview,do they keep youre passport to send with visa or is passport
returned before the visa(on the day of interview) ????????????Thanks

I think it depends whether they have your medical information or not. I had my medical the day before therefore the info wasn't available to them. I was asked if they could keep my passport and send it to me along with my visa a week later which they did.

I'm from Scotland and had my medical the day before my interview. There is a delay of about 4-7 days in getting your visa but it's much better than having to travel twice as it can be expensive. The other thing that happenend when I had my medical which was unexpected I was given the option of having MMR and tetnus vaccinations as my childhood vaccinations had ran out. I chose to have it done as it avoids having to get it done in the U.S but it is an added expense I can't remember how much, something in the region of another 100. Good Luck

USCIS Service CentersVideo is complete! - Start Sharing!!!

I think it's better to leave Obama out of it, to be honest. Just invoking him is going to make the video very divisive and alienate many who would otherwise be supportive. I'd say keep it with DHS w/o congressional approval. Besides that, I think the changes make it brisker and more digestible.

I really liked the piece. All the suggestions of shortening the text I agree with but I too would leave out Obama. I think it would distract from the problem.

USCIS Service CentersOctober
I'm tired of wondering so I made an appointment with my local office. Even if I only hear that its being processed and not in a wet pile of other applications I will be pleased. SOMETHING is better then 188 days of nothing. :bonk:

USCIS Service CentersUnfair random approvals. What is wrong with you CSC people?

I wholeheartedly recommend contacting your Congress person. I had been waiting over 193 days and after writing a letter to my Congressman I had an approval after 4 days. This is not to say that you will instantly get approved but it helped in my situation.

United KingdomPrevious drug use and Medical

Hi all,

My fiancee has in the past used drugs during her younger teenage years, which is in her medical records apparently.  She had her Medical today and they gave her a drug test which she'll easily pass.  I've read elsewhere that any previous drug use causes a 1 year delay, so we're hoping this won't be the case here.  She hasn't used anything in at least the last 12 years.

Anyone with any expertise on this to weigh in?

I'm no expert but my Fiance' medical was June 11, 2013. He admitted to previous drug use in his youth and they had him pee in a cup. It did not effect our process. rolleyes.gif

United KingdomI need a repeat X-ray - how long to delay my interview?

Pleased to see I'm not the only one! I travelled from Wales to London on August 7th for my medical, I thought I'd sailed through until I reveived a call 2 days later saying that a shadow had come up on my xray. They suggested I arrange a visit to my own GP and ask for a course of antibiotics for a chest infection. Again, I feel perfectly well! My doctor insisted on an xray first, so am due back in their tomorrow to check out the results, if its a chest infection, I will be having another xray to check it's clear before making my second appointment in London. We had planned for an October Wedding, this will set Mark and I back over 7 weeks sad.png

We thought the same thing - but if you have sent all your paper work through to the embassy the will schedule your interview WITHOUT your medical being complete even though it states that you will be sent away on the website. Hang in there. Ross was able to return for his interview on August 8th and then go back for his chest films that day and they sent them through to the embassy the next day. We thought we would be held up for another 8+ weeks but we are looking at the same timeline now. smile.png

United KingdomI need a repeat X-ray - how long to delay my interview?

When did you have your repeat medical? Might just be coincidence, but we saw a guy who looked a lot like your fiance in the waiting room when we went on August 8th.

My fiance's sat next to me and when I was scrolling through this topic, he saw your fiance in the avatar and was like "Isn't that guy we saw in the waiting room?". Ours was booked for 10.50am.

He was there August 8 at 11am! He's hard to miss with the beard and the height! :)

United KingdomI need a repeat X-ray - how long to delay my interview?

Finally!! I've been looking all over the forums for someone else with our problem.

My Fiance' has to repeat his chest X-ray as well. They told him he had a "shadow" on his lung and sent him to his GP to get a round of antibiotics to clear up what they think is a lung infection. Totally frustrating because he also had no symptoms!

I told my Fiance' to schedule a chest X-ray with his GP just before his medical to make sure he was cleared there. I would hate for him to travel back to London just to be told that it still hadn't cleared up.

This has totally messed up our timeline and wedding plans unsure.png

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVaccinations

http://london.usemba...xamination.html

Here is a link to to London Embassy's site that shows all necessary vaccinations. As far as I know your fiance' has to get a list from his Primary Care Physician before going to his medical so if he can get his vaccinations beforehand it would save him a step. Hope this helps!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFebruary 2012 filers with NOA2
I have a question about the W2's and 1040's. So we have decided we are not ordering his tax return from IRC, because he already has his 1040s and W2s. My question.
1. will copies do? Or do I need to show the originals?
2. is this all I need for his tax forms? is there anything we are leaving out?
We are also including recent paystubs and a letter from employer. Will this be enough?

P.S. I am sorry if my questions sound naive, I am just really concerned about these tax forms :)))
Thank you everyone :)

I have a question about submitting relationship proof. From where do we start? When we first started talking until this day? Or from when we filed I-129 ?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFebruary 2012 filers with NOA2
Dear February filers.
If you are on this page, then you probably got your NOA2
If you did, you probably have many questions.
Here are the questions that Aaron(my beloved :) and I have.
1. This is what my embassy requirement is about tax forms
"Petitioner’s prior year 1040 tax form and W2s: If tax returns are not available,
provide transcripts from the IRS." I want to make sure I understand this right.
So Aaron can just call the IRS, request his tax transcripts, they arrive and we're good?
Do we need to also get them notarized?
2. Do his paystubs need to be signed by his boss?
Please help me with this, and let's start discussing whatever questions we have about our upcoming
interviews. I bet most of us have the same questions! Good luck and thanks ahead for the help.

Africa: Sub-SaharanIR3 Visa Interview
My husband and I are in the US and have adopted his nephew who's mother passed away. It has been a long 2 years and now he is scheduled for an IR-3 interview in Lagos in November. We received an email from Lagos with his interview date and they wanted an address to send the packet to. I informed them that they are sending this to a minor child. All I have is his interview date which my husband and I are flying over for. Does anyone know what we should be expecting that day also info about the medical exam. Do you have to wait for the packet before seeing a doctor. Do I need to schedule him a appoiment to see the doctor or can he just go over there. Thanks for all of your help.

Africa: Sub-SaharanINTERVIEW AT US CONSULATE LAGOS
I can tell you what she should not take. Normal things in a handbag, make-up, powder, lotion, anything with a mirror. Also mobil phones, anything that has to do with electronics. No where in the packets does it say anything about it. If she should happen to get there and that those things she can either throw them anyway or pay people that are on the side that will hold it for you for a fee. Also they have a table there with chairs that they will charge you to sit on. Otherwise you stand in on dirt inside a square with alot of other people. Good luck star_smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long the Medical Exam is Good For?
We are still trying to adopt our nephew who is still in Nigeria, after we traveled there for the interview which we had to. Before we left we were told that everything was in order. Different story at the Embassy in Lagos. Long story short, he got his medical done last October 07, and we waiting for our next step Still. Does anyone know how long the Medical Exams are good for before he would have to get them repeated. Before his second interview. I don't want to fly all the way over there again and they tell us that his exam is too old. Thanks
