PhilippinesSending regular money to fiancee. Good or Bad for Interview ?
My guess is that sending money to show your support is definately either going to be a plus or have a neutral effecet...so you wouldn't lose either way.

But if you were sending your fiance very large sums of money, I would watch out. I think the consulate would have reason to grow suspicious if you're sending thousands and thousands of dollars.

PhilippinesHelp! Sending a package!
I would find someone who deals exotic pets and buy a large sea turtle. Train the turtle how to navigate the ocean to the Philippines. Strap the package to the back of the sea turtle, and make sure that the package is water proof. This would be free shipping, you wouldn't have to deal with those nasty customs, and it would still be faster than Phil Post.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a turtle with a laser beam attached to its head.

PhilippinesHow many of you here DID have your co-sponsor accepted?
This thread could be potentially helpful to those who are planning on using a co-sponsor. I've seen a few people on this forum say their co-sponsor was accepted under their circumstances.

So the question is, how many of you here had a co-sponsor and had it accepted, or that the consulate simply looked past your insufficient income anyway and let you pass? If so, what were the circumstances that you believe led the consulate to make his decision?

PhilippinesBooked tickets from CEB to MNL for St. Lukes
She's from Lapu-Lapu City. I booked the 8:20 AM flight, I believe...and she'll arrived at 9:45 AM. I'm sure she could get there earlier than 11:30 AM if she had to. I just don't want to have her have to fly back or stay an extra day...It would cost me. How long does it take to get from the airport to St. Lukes?

PhilippinesBooked tickets from CEB to MNL for St. Lukes
I booked my fiancee a morning flight to Manila from Cebu to have her medical done. It's on a Thursday. I figure she'll arrive at St. Lukes around 11 AM. Does anyone think she'll have a problem getting in and done with the examination? It's very costly after awhile to keep going to Manila and back...having to rebook and more hotels. I hope no one has had this problem. Any recommendations on the best time to go? I know someone mentioned Thursday at noon or later.

PhilippinesEvidence of support question
The requirement for K-1 is actually 100%. But anything put on the I-134 is not a necessary indicator that she will become a burden to taxpayer dollars. But it seems the consulates rule in a case by case basis which is quite unfair. Everyone should get the same treatment.

The joke of the matter is that they let Mexicans flow freely over the border...and they're a heavy burden to our country, we give them visas, amnesty and whatever else thrown their way. But God forbid the Filipina fiance of an American might become a burden to taxpayers...yeah right.

You have a lot less to worry about than I do. I only make 9 dollars an hour for 40 hours a week but I have a reliable co-sponsor.

I think they'd look at your total salary made more than anything else. You've been there a long time so I don't see how they'd view it as temporary.

PhilippinesI-134 Question regarding employment letters.
Hey GuardianOne - my fiance's interview is on Jan 19th as well! How cool. I am having a co-sponsor but I am including mine and my parent's I-134, both our employment letters(it is required), last 3 paystubs, 12 months of bank statements and 2008 income tax papers. I asked my agency about the same question you have and they just said it's only necessary to present the most recent tax return of 2008. Since the law states that W-2s dont have to go out until AFTER your interview date, there is no way they can expect you to have those 2009 tax returns.

PhilippinesDocuments presented at St. Lukes
QUOTE (GuardianOne @ Dec 20 2009, 10:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
She brought her letter from the embassy with her MNL number on it and she was able to get in fine. I haven't mailed her anything yet.

She never received a letter from the embassy for some reason though we already scheduled her interview using the NVC case number. She got an email confirmation from the embassy about her interview scheduled. Would a print out of that email be sufficient? I can also scan the nvc letter or NOA2 and email it to her.

PhilippinesDocuments presented at St. Lukes
I'm not sure if my fiance needs the original copy of the NVC letter and the original NOA2 or if it matters or not. It's gonna be a tough push to get this stuff in the mail to her on time. It would be nice if I could just scan the NVC letter and case number but I'm not sure if they accept photo copy?

PhilippinesAnyone used the fiance' visa services
I have used Filipinafianceevisa.com

Not sure if it's worth it yet...I sent my I129F and support documents to them, they found no error, and the USCIS approved it with no RFEs...so I'm not sure how good they are for catching mistakes. It's at least a good thing to have a "second eye" when you submit important documents. A lot of people here will tell you it's a waste of money and that you can do it yourself, but those same people turn around and get RFE's and other delays from personal error.

PhilippinesSt Lukes not open 29-31 of Dec?
We are talking of rescheduling her for January 11th and 12th but her interview is on the 19th. Is 7 days enough time before the interview???

PhilippinesSt Lukes not open 29-31 of Dec?
I have tried countless times to try and reach St Lukes but they never answer any of their lines. So I am still leary to rebook tickets until I find out for sure what days they're open. Such lousy customer service in the Philippines! ohmy.gif

PhilippinesSt Lukes not open 29-31 of Dec?
I already rescheduled the tickets once and Cebu Pacific Air slapped a fee on me and then I had to pay for the higher airfare for those days. If I have to rescheduled again I am screwed. Freaking holidays.

PhilippinesMost reliable carrier in sending important documents?
I know to avoid USPS and Phil Post...but what would be the more reliable choice...UPS/Delbros, FedEx/Air 21 or DHL? I don't have a DHL in the town I live in so I'd have to drive an hour and a half to go to one...so I'd probably want to choose between FedEx or UPS.

PhilippinesLaid off before the interview?
What happens if the American petitioner gets laid off of his job just a couple weeks before his fiance's interview? I already had the employer verification letter and recent pay stubs sent out to her today. Her interview is on the 19th of January. I haven't lost my job or anything but I've had a bit of a scare of losing my job lately. Should she just not say anything to the consulate, should that happen?

PhilippinesUPS-Delbros International are CROOKS
Yes, they have a 15% customs fee. 15% of 290 dollars is just above 2,000 pesos. But 5,126 pesos? Yikes.
The_Sage1MalePhilippines2009-12-11 03:59:00
PhilippinesUPS-Delbros International are CROOKS
I shipped a TV and some goodies at a value of 290 dollars VIA UPS and payed a fortune to ship it. Customs are charging a whopping 5,191 pesos for the package to be released. How can they justify this? Their customs fee is 15% of the item. That means they deemed the package to be worth over a thousan dollars. I outta be disputing this with UPS. I payed extra for guarenteed-money back service.

Everyone involved in the shipping business in the PH are crooks. No question about it.

PhilippinesTaxi ride from the airport to the USEM
I'm just wondering how much money it costs to get from the airport to the USEM area...and what people here payed. Just want to make sure my fiance has enough money. Also, isn't there a terminal fee at the airport for all flights?

PhilippinesCebu CFO
She doesn't have a TIN ID because she's not employed. Also, in October or September she applied for the SSS but the wait for that is like 8 months or so. She doesn't drive so that doesn't help. She did call the CFO Cebu a couple months ago on the phone and the employees there said they accept postal ID. I hope it's not a problem.
The_Sage1MalePhilippines2010-01-14 04:36:00
PhilippinesCebu CFO
How can they come out and say they don't accept postal ID now? That's totally ridiculous. My fiance called up the one in Cebu and they do accept postal ID! She has a passport obviously but I think the only other picture ID she has is the postal ID. It takes so long to get an SSS. If they give her problems after she gets her visa I am going to be extremely pissed off.

PhilippinesRelatives who previously petitioned K-1
My fiance's interview is quickly approaching on the morning of the 19th. I need your guy's help in preparing for a defense.

I have a cousin on my father's side of the family who carried the same last name as me. She went to the Philippines 8 or so years ago and met a Filipino from the same city as where my fiance lives right now in Cebu. After she got back her and her father sponsored him to come over on a K-1 visa. Do you think the consulate will A) know about the scenario and B) think our relationship is set-up because of it? I don't really even talk to that side of the family so it just upsets me thinking about it.

Since my fiance and I met on Filipina Heart, I was thinking of printing out our old dating pages and stapling them together. I dont know if it's necessarily proof but it helps. Any other ideas for a defense?

PhilippinesWE NEED YOUR HELP!

Seems pretty clear from what you linked that they consider anyone under age 21 a minor and require a parent at the interview.

How different is the name? Is it just a change from maiden name to married name? That should be easy enough to prove, as the middle name will now be the former last name in Spanish/ latin naming conventions, I doubt you would even need any further documentation.

Both the first and last name is different. But yeah, her mother's middle name would match up.

PhilippinesWE NEED YOUR HELP!
My fiance is 20 years old and attending the K-1 interview on Tuesday. We are trying desperately to figure out if she needs her mom with her at the interview.

The topic of this link says yes:

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwhniv1.html

Is this incorrect information? Has anyone had any experience with this?

She has her mom with her at the hotel in Manila but the very problem is that her mom's name on her ID does not match the name on my fiance's birth certificate. This is so frustrating. What do we do? I don't know how her mom can even prove she's her mother.

PhilippinesSt. Luke's 2nd day
She's feeling a lot better today (thank God) so she's off doing her NBI clearance right now. I've had her stay at the Best Western La Corona because it has free wi-fi and the reviews online were pretty good. I would have put her at the Bayview but the hotel seems like it's not as nice and they charge an arm and a leg for internet. Since we communicate on skype for hours at a time, I'd rather her have the free internet. She has told me the La Corona's help is very friendly and helpful and she's enjoyed it there so far.

I didn't want her to stay at the other hotels that are 15 dollars less a night but really lousy. The La Corona is probably the best hotel value you can get at 2,600 pesos a night. She said the breakfast is good (though not much variety) and the rooms are clean. It's also quite close to the USEM and ST. Lukes.

PhilippinesSt. Luke's 2nd day
I'll let her know about he NBI thing for her to check it out.

UPDATE: she did pass her medical but on the way to the mall she suddenly got really, really sick from the vaccinations and started throwing up. She told me that she's too sick to fly back to Cebu tonight so I had her go back to the same hotel. Since I already had a round trip booked the 17th-19th to Manila for the interview, I am just having her remain in Manila until that time. The difference is that I have to pay for an extra 5 nights of hotels and I can get a travel voucher for the CEB-MNL flight on the 17th that I'm cancelling. She will try get her NBI in the morning and at least by her staying in Manila will give her more chances to get the NBI before the interview.

Cebu Air won't even so much as give her a credit for the flight she missed today. But it doesn't surprise me being a same day cancellation.

I called her up for congrats on not getting TB. I told her not to get any infectious diseases and she listened to me and passed the medical!

She's on her way to the Robinson Mall to get her NBI. Godspeed to her. She's got only 2 1/2 hours to do it and then she's gotta head straight to the airport.

PhilippinesSt. Luke's 2nd day
I gave my fiance a fake fraud interview and I was mean as the most unruly consulate ever. She handled it pretty well. I used some of the questions that consulates have asked in the past. Since we met on Filipina Heart, I saw one consulate that somebody reported claiming that Filipina Heart is not a dating site and rather a site to just obtain a quick visa. When the fiance being interviewed corrected the consulate he got irate and said "are you calling me a liar?". My fiance came up to a remedy to this problem. We printed out the front page of our old dating profiles and stapled them together. Our last log in was Nov 2008 so you can see clearly that we met on that site at that time with proof. She's not planning on presenting this unless it's necessary. It's also necessary if they claim we *didn't* meet on there and our relationship was set up. Proof, proof, proof.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

GuardianAngel - Yes I heard from a previous thread a couple weeks ago that you are scheduled for the 19th, that's very cool...you should meet my fiance and perhaps you can give each other support. She posts as "Jakriss" here and I already told her about this topic so she'll get back to you soon on here. She's still in Manila doing her 2nd day of her medical right now and flying back in the evening. Hope she passes!!!

PhilippinesSt. Luke's 2nd day
My fiance is in Manila and she's getting ready to do her 2nd day for the exam. She's scheduled for 7:30 AM but how long approx does it take to get outta there?

The reason being is that her plane leaves at 7:45 PM...but the problem is she's from Cebu and doesn't have her NBI clearance yet. Her interview is fastly approaching on Jan 19th. She's been told she can get the NBI very quickly in Manila so I want her to go get it after the medical and then go straight to the airport. It seems that it takes 3 days to get the NBI in Cebu City. She'll be back in Cebu on Tuesday night and could get the NBI Wednesday in Cebu if she had to...but I don't know if she can get it by Friday if all possible.

PhilippinesCheapest "One Way" ticket
Guys, the virus on http://www.santraphael.com/home.php nearly destroyed my computer. I opened the page up last night, my computer totally locked up and some ridiculous anti-virus spyware blocked me from doing anything and made my operating system fail. Luckily I have a restoration software on my computer to restore it back to the way it was. I'm fortunate to not have lost all my files because of it. What gives?

PhilippinesCheapest "One Way" ticket
It seems like when I check Philippine Airline's website for Cebu to LAX, SFO or LAS that they are charging an arm and a leg (approx 1,000 dollars) for a one way flight. That's ridiculous considering I can manage to fly from Omaha to Cebu and back for 300 dollars more then that.
Where is the best place to look for one way flights from Cebu to the USA? She needs to be able to fly into Omaha as well.
