Middle East and North Africa	I have a question for you gals	A few observations/reminders (that I can use myself)... While we are all going through the same process with fiances/spouses from the same region, we are still a very diverse group. We don't normally choose friends or seek support from people based on such a limited criteria - in this case a visa and a MENA spouse. Some people are much more sensitive than others, others have thicker skins. Some of us are blessed to have strong support systems in our families/friends, others have none. Some have busy social lives, and some have little more at this time than waiting for their spouse. For some, this may be the only major headache you are dealing with in life, and others are struggling with many other issues in their personal lives. All this affects how we react to things and our strength in this process. Some people have felt genuine bonds on this board, for others it is a transition. For those who really use this board as a support system, perceived slights can be VERY painful - especially if that is a person who you like/respect through this forum. I remember a time when Henia posted something and got a reaction she didn't expect. In the heat of it, she named names of people whose posts she enjoyed. This also was not well received. If I recall JP, you were one of the people who responded. Likewise, when you posted yesterday and named names of the people whose posts you take seriously, I think some feelings may have been hurt. My point is not at all to call you out on that post, but to shed some light on why Jean may have felt as she did. If we say things like "I like/respect/take seriously only these people's posts", there will be people that feeled snubbed or hurt. We may not realize that other people actually care what we think of them or their opinions (and we may think they shouldn't care), but there are people who do care. Let's face it, there is some bonding that goes on here (which is one reason I think I have not left even though we have GC in hand). Not sure of my point.... I hate to see someone in our forum hurting whether or not the reaction seems justified from our perspective. I did once respond to one of Heina's posts, it was the Happy Friday post she did quite some time ago. I have voiced my opinion several times over threads that I thought were inappropriate, however I don't take the stance of "if its not my way , I'm not going to play anymore." I didn't say that I didn't take others posts seriously, I said take those posts by SZSZ and Lostinlove the most serious. I have been snubbed by many people many times, but thats a part of being on a public forum. I don't like to see people hurting either and I know some people do use this forum as a form of support which is fine, but that doesn't mean the entire forum is thiers to get sympathy from. I am not going to walk on eggshells around people. If you can dish it out, then you have to be willing to take it.I have also been waiting for a very long time through this process along with everyone else. I still have 6 months to go before even having an intervew, but I don't complain at all. There is a theme here of constant drama and sympathy. The second someone threatens to stop posting bcz they don't like someone else's post, eveyone pours pity in the threads about it. Well we are all adults and that doesn't need to happen. I obviously don't like 60% of our threads being about Islam, but thats my opinion. I have long accepted the fact that people can post what they like, and at the same time, we can choose to ignore the threads we don't care for. That's Amman for you JP I can relate to that! Now, having said that, sometimes I do take some things too seriously and may have said things in a hateful way but all in all...I love you all ! YOU??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Say it isn't so Amal. Middle East and North Africa	I have a question for you gals	The Prophet wasn't the first man she was promised to. He was actually the second. The first was a Christian man named Jubair Ibn al Mut'am inb 'Adi, the son of a Muslim supporter. It was common for children, male and female, Muslim and non-Muslim, to have arranged marriages set up for them at a very early age. Still is in some places. I knew I forgot something, the Arabic thing. Islam - submission to God - has existed since the beginning of man. The Prophets before Muhammad, of which there are many, prayed and delievered the Message in many languages, so to say that it is not clear or concise in any language other than Arabic is incorrect. Arabic is the baby language of Islam; Hebrew, Aramaic, and other eariler languages transmitted the faith before it. All languages belong to God and there is nothing He cannot express in any of them. Reminds me of the Tower of Babel story where there was only one language at the time so the story goes.. Anyways I am glad to see you posting always enjoyed your posts and iinformation. If you want to fight, fight to win, not to alienate. I am not trying to insult anyone. It gets frustrating when the same questions keep being asked. Did he say anything wrong? I can only guess...no. He said he loves his wife and wants to be with her. He was hoping the bus he was on would just crash and kill him when he was on his way home from the consulate. My husband feels he is in exile. For what? Because there is an age difference. I am just looking for laws to help them. I know they exist because I have read them. I was hoping someone had done some research lately and my have had the links handy. I think a lot of the questions being asked are purely innocent. I know I am not knowledgeable in this matter and maybe some others are not also. I think a lot of brainstorming as to why some people get denied their visas goes on here. I am pretty sure it's because they only want to help. We can only speculated as to what happen. I sincerely hope you find the information you are seeking. I am a Palestinian daughter, and who the children of Palestinian families marry is a huge deal, especially to fathers, and especially for their daughters. It is a matter of honor, for what men can do is very different from what women can do. Men tend to get more like this as they age, not less. I agree with your statement. My husband already told me if we have a daughter she would marry a jordanian or a palestinian and more than likely it will be someone who is actually from jordan or palestine versus a jordanian born in the usa or a palestinian born in the usa. I on the other side when My Husband was in his way here to Egypt for the first time he heard lots of warning from coming like how may end up getting kidnapped ..lol I kidnapped him lol Good one Salwa!! If I could I would have kidnapped my husband and brought him back to the usa with me In Jordan they see a lot of american tv because most have satellites. The movies they watch are about crime in america. His family was scared because of what they hear from other people that immigrated here also. They thought anyone who works in a convenient store will get robbed and shot and killed which is true in some places. We really don't have too much information on how Tunis processes. From what I read you and veiledprincesslayla are the only ones giving any kind of information on Tunis which will be vaulable to other people who may process through there in the future.. Good Luck!
