United KingdomInterview Letter

I know someone has probably already posted this somewhere, but I'm having a hard time finding it...

My fiance and I sent in his IV-15K in the middle of December. We have still yet to receive a letter regarding his interview date. What are people's average wait times from the point where the letter is sent to the time that the appointment letter is received? I'm just concerned that we might be missing out on some deadline or some other thing.
Thanks in advance :)

The Dept of State is who you can call to see if your interview date has been assigned. They are usually quite helpful and nice to speak to.

United KingdomBrother comes to visit on Friday!

Wow time passes fast!
When we were over in Northern Ireland for Christmas he talked about booking a flight a few weeks after I got here. Give me a little time to settle in and then come over to see my new life. He's never been to the US before so this will be an experience. Really looking forward to him getting here :-)

He has a shopping list already composing of soda bread (for me), Strawberry Ribena (which C loves to mix with soda water) and Kinder eggs for Josie, which are an absolute ripoff over here. Yum!

Going to take him shopping, some theme parks, the usual. Maybe even a beach if it warms up a it.

How exciting! Have a fun time!

So I paid for my visa delivery yesterday around 12:30pm, and I tried to track it this morning and the number isn't working. So I called the helpline and they cant even find the number or my postcode in their system... And when I asked for the number for DX at the embassy, they gave me the embassy's helpline!! The £1.20 a min helpline at that....

I am not sure what to do and even though its day 1 out of 5 for the delivery I am slightly worried as to when its going to turn up as I need to have someone at home with my ID.

Anyone have any advice?

The invoice number you use to track wont work until a day before your delivery. I guess they only use it when they have recieved your passport from the embassy. About your post code, you need to call their customer services to change it to the right one before they get your passport back as the courier guy might have problem locating you. 0800 019 7847 is a free number for DX customer service. They will send you a text message between 3pm and say 4pm on day prior to delivery, so you might wait on that as well.

This is correct. Our tracking number wasn't live until the day before it was scheduled to be delivered. I would start checking it in a few working days. If it's not in the courier's system yet, it will say the tracking and post code don't match up. If they have it in-hand, it will say it's due to be delivered on a particular date (the next day). You'll get your SMS the day before the visa is delivered. My fiance had his delivered to work, so it was no problem getting it while he was there.

We received our visa in 5 working days. It wasn't long at all. smile.gif

Hello all

Im wondering if anyone can tell me, on form DS-156, question 36: "Has anyone ever filed an Immigration Visa Petition on Your Behalf" what do i put? Im assuming it is yes and do i need to put anymore than my fiance's name?

Thanks

Check out the example forms section at the top of the page here. The example forms say check no. Actually, your fiance has petitioned for a NON-immigrant visa for you.

There is one glaring difference between London and the example forms on this site. The I134 for London, they want to see "DO INTEND" to make specific contributions checked - unlike the example form which is do not.

Sorry if i sounded grumpy! I am going to take your advice, you have the visa in hand, i dont!

So if he ticks the intend box what sort of thing do we need to write, how long does he have to give money to me for and if he puts it is for room/board and living expenses while i am unable to work is that ok?

I am the USC, and for my fiance (also "visa in hand"), I wrote, "Any funds necessary for the duration of his stay".

smile.gif It will be fine.

You take the photo in with the interview. It has to be a US sized picture; the medical can be a UK sized one. Do a search on the forum; I think there's a website online you can order them from.

i sent the checklist in yesterday after setting up my medical date.. however I got confused since it says on the form not to send any documents so this is all I sent in. I take it from what I have been reading I should have included all of the DS forms with this??

Yes you should send in the DS forms, but not any supporting documentation like birth certificates, etc. It is ok if the checklist and the DS forms don't arrive together.

I would get a couple of sets atleast. My fiance has already been through 2 sets and still needs one more for the interview. He only had one left. From the medical to the police certificate to the embassy forms, he has used quite a lot.

Just a side note: UK passport photos can be used for the medical. They are less expensive.

Now hold on a second.... where would Riggs find American style passport photos? Can't he just use the picture booth in Morrisons every time??? So far that has worked... even for the I-129F, we both had pics taken in that booth, used the time and place stamp on the extra 2 pictures as evidence of being together (technically in the same place at the same time innocent.gif ) as well as the picture for the 325A or whatever... that 5 page thing was.

When you go to the interview, your photos must meet these requirements: http://www.usembassy...orts/photo.html

Ian went to Snappy Snaps. I haven't been to Morrisons, so I can't answer to that.

I've heard that special delivery to the embassy is not affected.

I've heard Royal Mail is hiring extra people to help continue mail delivery (not sure how long the strike is for)

You can find out your interview date by calling the Department of State, but you do need your hardcopy for the embassy guard checking you in.

One step at a time, right....

I hope P3 is ready to go when the police cert arrives. Normally, it's 2 weeks. He could book the medical now while he is waiting for his immunization records. Just have him make it a couple of weeks out (or however long it will take to get into the doctors).

P3 to London by special delivery. Don't forget. biggrin.gif There's tracking that way.

I believe I read somewhere that an adopted person from the UK will usually only have their adoption certificate and not their birth certificate. It would make sense, but here in Utah I think they just change the birth certificate to list the adopted parents.

That's correct.

"Adoption Certificate

The certificate must show date and place of adoption, along with the names of the adoptive parents. This certificate must be issued by a public authority and show that a public record exists of the adoption."

Because i have been waiting 4 weeks, the nice man gave me an email address and a special reference number so i can ask for a status update directly and try and get some answers on why its taking so long.

I just wanted to let others know that this is the procedure. Only after 90 days will they give you a special reference number to have your questions answered. Before then, there is no point calling them really.

I wish i had known this before!

Hope that helps a few of you and goodluck! .

So if it takes 90 days, how come you got a special ref number after 4 weeks? I am confused.

There are a lot of people who get hung up at NVC.

Someone (I think Scandal, I grabbed it from his sig) has started keeping track of how many days it takes to escape similar to Igor's list: http://apnvc.info/

It is an unknown, but at least there seems to be a maximum time - it's nearly unheard of to be stuck for more than 50 days or so. Yes, I know it's a LOOOONG time, but at least having limits, I hope makes you feel better about it. :-/

So, my fiance called the overpriced number today, and they told him that the wait for his interview might be 6 months bc London is a very busy embassy. There are a couple of concerning issues here though. First, he has had his medical done, has his police records, and all other documents are valid for a month- at most! If the embassy makes him wait for longer than a month, then we will have to reissue and re-do all of those documents. What the hell kind of service is that? Second, we have emailed the embassy and are awaiting a follow-up email about what to do in terms of extending his visa to remain in the UK. Lastly, I don't know what to do. I am tired. I am so very tired. I don't know how much more of this we can go through. Help or advise would be much appreciated.

I sympathize with your frustrations, we have been through a difficult process ourselves that is still continuing.
First of all, I don't know how much truth is in that statement: that his interview might be in 6 months?! I don't believe it is taking that long for interviews to be schedules in London. It may take a month or two at the most, but this new 6 month estimate is news to all of us here in the UK forum, I am sure.

Your fiance's medical is valid for 12 months from the date of the medical, so it is not going to expire in a month, it will expire 12 months from the date it happened.
Your fiance's UK police certificate is also valid for 12 months from the date of its issuance.
But all police certificates other than a UK police certificate are valid for 6 months from the date of their issuance. So you do not need to apply for new police certificates unless 6 months have passed from the issuance of the ones you already have.
I remember that we emailed the US Embassy in London regarding a similar question about my fiance's UK visa extension and we were told: "Unfortunately we cannot advise on this matter until the day of the interview" something to that affect. But each case is unique so I hope you get a beneficial response from London regarding your situation.
Have you called DOS and asked for their advice on what to do in your situation? I believe that if your fiance chooses not to interview in London, they can start a process to transfer his case to India. I know it is a decision based on a lot of issues, and I hope that London assists you in making this decision.

Hope you hear something helpful soon from London.

He will be interviewing in London. We have long ago let go any prospect of interviewing in India. I called the DOS and they instructed that the representative that my fiance talked to was a bit "over-reaching." She told me to call back on Friday to see if the interview date has been scheduled or not. She sounded like she understood what is going on, but as for that ####### in London... The thing is, I think my fiance is a little discouraged about all of this to begin with, and answers like the once received from London do not help.

I had sort of the same fun when I called NVC yesterday and they said, "It could be up to 90 days till you're in the computer." I know she was giving a ballpark figure, but that was still not something I wanted to hear.

I hope you have something by Friday. smile.gif

Right now she is bundled up next to a heater with wool socks on keeping warm. I got her to go out yesterday. She claimed she didn't need my winter jacket, until she stepped outside. We went shopping for a hat and gloves for her, luckily they had one pair of gloves left.

Does anyone know what "B?t nêm" is? She didn't get any when we went to the Asian grocery store and I don't know what it is, so I can't check to local store.

Congratulations! What a long journey you've had.

USCIS Service CentersThe CSC I-129F Frenzy
April is H-1B approval month. It's always slow in April.

To the frustration of many, CSC started the year with "competing agency priorities" (USCIS words, not mine) and was approving I-129F petitions at record low rates. The numbers given here are taken solely from VJ members updating their timelines.
January: 18 NOA2, 4 RFE
February: 15 NOA2, 8 RFE
March: 26 NOA2, 3 RFE

April began like the previous months of 2013:
First week of April - 4 NOA2, 0 RFE

And then the CSC frenzy began! Starting slowly at first with November/December approvals, the momentum picked up quite quickly and shifted to July-September approvals:
April 8: 6 NOA2
April 9: 5 NOA2
April 10: 0 NOA2
April 11: 6 NOA2, 1 RFE
April 12: 8 NOA2, 2 RFE
April 13: 0 NOA2, 2 RFE (Saturday)
April 15: 12 NOA2
April 16: 14 NOA2, 3 RFE
April 17: 26 NOA2, 5 RFE
April 18: 26 NOA2, 7 RFE
April 19: 31 NOA2, 4 RFE
April 20: 10 NOA2 (Saturday)

This is a breakdown of the April approvals by NOA1 month:
July: 19
August: 53
September: 32
October: 1
November: 14
December: 29

It is good to see CSC clearing out their backlog. Congratulations to all that have been approved!!!
I hope this continues until they are back to a 5 month processing timeframe.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)2nd 221g for wedding preparations from petitioner

I called USCIS today just to get their input, the operator was nice. But, said they can not do anything since its at DOS. I am going to try again tomorrow and talk to somebody else. My fiance still has not recieved his passport back. Last time we talked to them they told him his AP is over, but now its just the waiting for him to get the passport. He submitted his passport two days back. Everytime we get so close, and then something happened. God knows if this time he actually will get the visa. When he went to VFS they said they if can come back the next day and they may have it. But, we checked their website and the passport has not been recieved from the consulate yet. Please cross your fingers and pray that he will get the visa now, and we can move on and focus on other wonderful things rather then this painful process. Thank you all of your support and advice. It means a lot to me.

What does DOS have to say?

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Is there a compassionate visa so I can get back to my husband in Texas?
I agree that you will need to apply for a spouse visa of your choice, then, when you are denied because of the ban, file this: http://www.uscis.gov.../form/i-601.pdf.

Immigration is doing it's job as it should do, to be fair, regardless of the circumstances. I had to wait ages for my fiance to come over and apply for AOS so he can stay. We spent money and had to wait and it was painful, but we did it anyway, because it's the law.

People should be aware of the processes and not assume they can stay because "they don't want to leave" or whatever else the reason might be.

Google is our friend.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Unique situation - please help!

I understand. We are trying to figure out what our options are. If we apply for and receive the waiver, then we would move back to the United States. So there are no options at all for him getting a visitor's visa? How about in 3 years when he is a Canadian citizen and has a Canadian passport?

We are living in the US and already did the I-130 and were approved. But we will be moving to Canada in a few months.

I am a little lost. Who applied for whom with the i-i30? If it was you and you applied for your husband, doesn't that make him legal now?
