I'm sure you'll get your letter within the next week.

Ok so I got the letter today dated August 20th, why would they lie to us saying we're gonna be forwarded in a week?
Why do they have to bloody lie then????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I JUST WANT TO SCREEEMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a form letter, unfortunately. They don't bother configuring it to match your case. Someone just pushes some "application in" button and off it goes.

You'll get a letter later saying "We have sent your stuff to the embassy".

It'll happen.

Sometimes I feel like I am never going to here the, "We have sent your case to the London embassy" bit. But I know that's silly. It'll happen. Eventually.

As of 7:30pm today, still in AP.

The weekends are kind of a break, since NVC isn't open over the weekend. smile.gif

Well here i am....stuck on AP they received our stuff Aug 14th, called today and they said we're in bloody AP!! #######!

Just keep calling and talking to a person. Hang in there.

Yep thats what I did... 25 days strong and I kept being persistent!!!

It's nice to see all of the encouragement from people who have been there.

I called the NVC twice today. The first lady freaked me out when she put me on hold for 5 minutes and then asked me what sort of visa we'd applied for.

The second person was very nice and said that it was definitely marked as a K1 visa and K1's are "expedited" (as opposed to others they actually do loads of processing on) and usually fly right out of there.

I asked if there were any questions I could answer because we'd been hanging around for 3 weeks... and, as I expected, he said they don't provide them with information concerning the reason for the AP, only that I'll be notified if they have questions/need anything further.

"One day closer", as Ian says. smile.gif This too shall pass.

Tell me what is the difference of a K1 and a K3 for expedited, both have a shelf life of 4 months. Do they do extra processing on K3's ??., cause K'3 are filed on a I-129F. Please advise.

yes I called every day, sometimes twice once in am and then again late pm right before they close. Em I the only K3 here in AP????

I just checked the flowchart for K3 and yours is supposed to go through NVC in 1-4 weeks, just like K1's.

Welll hey that is a bit of good news. biggrin.gif Guess it could be worse? Thank you all for your replys, 8 days down.

Hey fellow APer's I got in the mail yesterday a letter from NVC sayng they received our I-129F and will be sent to embassy within a week, does that mean I will be out of AP within a week, or is that a standard letter the NVC sends??

That is a standard form letter to let you know your case is there. I received mine about 14 days ago. I am still in AP.

Sorry... I personally don't know much about K3 filings. I just know some visas are processed for awhile at the NVC... maybe they are AOS.

Hopefully someone will come along who knows the answer, or look at other K3 timelines to see how fast they move through NVC.

The person I spoke with said that K files are never put into the automated system because they move through NVC so quickly. Then she said we have already sent yours to the CDJ embassy as of yesterday. So, after 15 days we are out of AP and our application is on the way to Juarez. Every step has been frustrating so far but it does feel great when the process moves forward.

Congratulations on making it to the next step! smile.gif

Thanks.

If you call the NVC, they will tell you if you're in additional processing. I would suggest speaking to a real person there (instead of using the automated system).

Our NOA2 was July 27th and on Aug 3rd we got a notice saying our case had arrived at NVC and should be forwarded to the consulate in a week. I called NVC hoping to make sure it had been sent along (because it is so expensive to call the consulate). I was really bummed to hear the news. I hope it gets out of NVC soon. It looks like from reading this thread that times vary vastly.

Does the NVC actually notify you when your case completes AP? I was told I would be notified via email. blink.gif

So were we, but it never came. We found out by ringing them, every day.

Yeah, we were also promised email notification. Never happened. NVC was able to send out four (4) letters at the start of our AP saying our file would be forwarded to the Embassy within a week (which clearly it was not). And they promised an email to tell us when our AP would end (which was never sent).

In short: communication from NVC cannot be taken at face value. You can be certain your file is actually at the Consulate when you get a Packet 3 or are otherwise contacted by the Consulate. Even when NVC told us by phone that we were released I was still waiting to get the Packet3 before I felt certain we had cleared that hurdle.

I call every day. I did send an email on July 29th for an address change. They just responded to it today (August 10).

I called NVC this morning and they got our case (yay!) but... They said it's undergoing "additional processing" and they "don't have timeline" for it. Convenient wording aside, I asked what that means and they said "we don't know" but I then asked "do other cases all undergo this additional processing?" and they very confidently said "some do, some don't". So, local experts, - what is it? and how long of a delay am I looking at here?
Thanks in advance!

I assume you mean wait until NVC starts. (received and case # assigned) Seems to be about 2 weeks but could be longer. Up to 4 weeks and occasionally longer. We will be 3 weeks tomorrow, and nothing yet. Needless to say, the frustration and stress has returned after the brief high of getting the NOA2!

You're not alone. Really. It's annoying to think you're making headway.. everything is happening finally, and ... nothing. Hang in there. I call daily and watch the DHL site to see if anything's shipped out to the embassy. Somehow this keeps me reasonably sane.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAP at NVC
Just wondering if there is something constructive we can be doing while we languish in our lovely extended stay at the NVC.

We already have all our necessary evidence gathered and forms ready for packet 3.

We do have an LON case number assigned. Would it be a waste of time to schedule the medical at this point, or should we just wait for packet 3?

I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but there are some possible issues with car/housing that might be lessened or avoided if we can keep the ball rolling in some way.

Thanks,

United KingdomLondon Medical Experience - September 2009
QUOTE (n1dom @ Sep 15 2009, 12:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,

I had my K1 medical at Knightsbridge Doctors yesterday and I just thought that I'd share my experience.

Location

The doctors office is located about a 5-10 minute wander from Bond Street tube station. Exiting the station, I crossed to the north side of Oxford Street and headed west (towards Selfridges) turning right into Gees Court and heading all the way through the pedestrian area to Wigmore Street. Across Wigmore and then into Jason Court and onto Marylebone Lane. Bentinck Street, where the the office is, is a few yards on to the right.

As you turn right in to Bentinck Street, the office is located in the first building on your right (Bentinck Mansions). The building appears to be an apartment block and the office is on the ground floor to the right (Flat 4). You will need to buzz the intercom to get in.

Check-in

Spoke to the receptionist, who was very polite, and handed over the questionnaire (from the information contained in Packet 3), my passport and a photo. I was asked to go through to the waiting room. The receptionist appeared a few minutes later in the room and handed me an Embassy medical form which I was asked to complete along with an HIV screening authorisation form.

I filled everything out and the receptionist came and collected the forms and told me the nurse would be along shortly. And she wasn't wrong!

Nurse!

After a couple of minutes the nurse came along and took me off to her office. We spoke about vaccinations and she explained about the K1 requirements. I didn't have any records and she told me that I would be able to get the required shots done at my GP for free. I opted to have the shots done there and then as my GP had nicely taken me off their books as I hadn't been for so long!!!

The nurse and I chatted about things and before I knew it first shot was in my arm and done, a blink at the realisation that it had been done and the second was in there and done! This nurse was a first-class professional! It was all administered is a very cheerful and pleasant way.

I was given record of the batch numbers of the shots and the nurse checked to see if the radiographer was free. Bing! Oh yes he was!

X-Ray

This bit was a little odd as it happened so quick and I didn't see anything happen! The radiographer was very cheery and he asked me to strip off my top. He then asked me to turn around and place my chest against a large square plate, place my chin on the top bar. He put my arms behind my back and gave me a, what I guess was a lead sheet to hold in both hands. And we were done before I knew it!

The chap asked me to get dressed again and off I went back to the waiting room where I waited for about ten minutes.

Doctor, Doctor

My name was called and the Doctor introduced herself and led me off to her office. She was very polite and chatty, asking me about my day, my job, where I live etc. She asked me basic health questions about a previous operation and the she was ready for the physical exam.

I popped my shoes off and she checked my weight and height, then she checked my eyesight (with glasses on). She then asked me to sit on the bed and she checked my breathing with her stethoscope, checked my glands and took my blood pressure. Then she took a blood sample which was very painless and asked me lie down on the bed. The doctor then proceeded to prod various organs while chatting away and finally asked to have a quick peek down below.

A couple more questions, one of which was have I ever been in trouble with the police and have I ever been caught for drink driving. I thought they were a bit odd for a medical but then I guess they may reveal underlying problems.

And we were done! 10-15 minutes top with the doctor.

Conclusion

So around 45 minutes after arriving it was back to reception and pay the bill. I feel that I was treated well and everyone I came into contact with was very friendly, but then I should hope so for such an expensive (but necessary) escapade!

If anyone is worried or nervous, I found from my experience that it was quick, painless and not unpleasant at all.

Hope this is helpful!

Dom

Can I ask what the total is with the two shots you needed? And which ones were they?

Yay! Good to know how this works. Congratulations and have a good flight out!

Mark got here with no problems, and we were married on Saturday! Now for the AOS...~sigh~...seems like the paperwork will never end! wink.gif

Congratulations! Just think, though. This is your last monetary layout for paperwork for awhile. The AOS paperwork isn't very hard. You can use your 129F copy for reference.

Good luck!

United KingdomPhotos for DS-156
QUOTE (inhopeofglory @ Oct 25 2009, 01:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,

Are the 5 x 5 photos that are required for the visa interview in addition to the two needed for the DS-156 and its duplicate? i.e. do I send in the two DS-156s with photos attached? Does it matter if they're not 5 x 5 (i.e. US-size)?

Thanks.

Sorry, I meant to say that I'm applying for the K-1 visa - I'm filling in the forms for the IV-15 and checklist...

You need 2 US-sized passport photos. We did not attach photos to the DS-156. Ian just took his two photos to the interview.

QUOTE (jellyfish @ Oct 25 2009, 05:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
For a Singapore police certificate I supplied copies of an old passport. Showing I had entered legally, and stayed for a legal amount of time. (In this case 18 months.) There was no problem at all. I was told that any evidence to show I was in the country legally from X-Y would do.

I'm confused, though. Did you get the certificate from Singapore or did you take that info to the interview?

Ours was approved on the 22nd, so hopefully ours will be a similar date! How did you find out? Text message?

The UKC should have gotten a receipt from the courier. Go to http://thedx.co.uk/ and input your tracking number (mine was 10 numbers starting with 144...). Once you submit the number, you get a page where it requests the postal code the visa is being sent to. Input that, and submit it. Either it will say the codes don't match, meaning the courier doesn't have your visa yet, or it will tell you when it will be delivered.

Information will only show up the day before delivery.

I found out on the website before Ian got his SMS message (25 minutes later).

Happy tracking! star_smile.gif

Congrats Ian and Lisa. Start planning your AoS packet now before the whirl and rush of the wedding. That way, when you get a copy of your marriage certificate, you're ready to file! smile.gif

Thank you! I've started the packet, except for the biometrics page. smile.gif

Do NOT be tempted to even see if the seal might not be tight.

The first thing the CBP officer did when I handed my envelope over was carefully check all around it to make sure it hadn't been touched. tongue_ss.gif

No worries about that. It's funny that after all the reading, there is still one tiny thing a person doesn't know at the end of the process. smile.gif
