ashenflowers, you're going to have soooo much fun! I can't wait to go over wedding planning with my fiance. Sorry to hear that you're going to miss your brother leaving, though. A beach side ceremony sounds lovely, though smile.gif Good luck getting all that stuff lined up while you're there.

Ian and Lisa, I'll hang out with you here waiting for NOA2's....

Nill-keep us updated on work drama!

wedding planning... if it was up to me we would just do JP and be done with it. We plan to go back after a bit, and do a full ceremony with her family, So her grandmother and her are in charge of all of that. I just hang out with her dad and try not to get in trouble. ha ha whistling.gif

Well guys now I really am a cheater in the worst way blush.gif . I am not deploying. Just got the official word today that my billet in Iraq was cancelled due to the draw down, and I am set to depart for Hawaii in late September. My commander said I need to talk to you about your deployment, and then left the office for about 3 hours. wacko.gif I was dying to know about what, most of the time it is to say "you will be getting extended." When he told me I almost kissed the fool. I am so sick of that place! So now I will be in the middle of moving when I go see Nan. Good news for us, but our reason for expedite is kinda null and void at this point. So I feel like a super cheater. But I am so stoked right now I can't contain myself! Man we went from waiting another year and me sitting in the desert again, to seeing each other and being able to be together again sooner than we imagined. Nan and Hawaii here I come! kicking.gif

WHOOOO!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

I'm soooo happy for you! Look! Everything's falling into place for you, and hopefully we'll all be close behind. Good for you!

Well for me and Nigel, we cant have any kids for some reason...its funny cause i thought i'd never find anyone like me or would be ok with me cause I cant have anymore kids ( i have a 15 yr old). We basically want to work and travel and fix up this house of mine and so forth and actually have money in the bank for when his family comes here or us to go there!! I told everyone and Nigel included that he is like I wrote EVERYTHING down on paper what I wanted in a husband and ripped it up and threw it in the wind and there he came to me!! He is so strangely like what I always wanted I truly shake my head every day thinking this is just a dream and I'm gonna wake up soon!! Even his family is perfect for me!! He says that he's not perfect but I say he's PERFECT FOR ME!!! and i actually found a valentines card that said that, i was so surprised! So on his wedding band i'm gonna have engraved "perfect for me" on the inside...ok enough soppy-ness here! LOL. Nigel's on holidays for a week so i am gonna be a bored crabby miserable person cause i cant see or talk to him for a week...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........so lets just say you guys may be listening to me b*&tch for a week! I love your wedding ring idea. smile.gif

For me the hardest part now is that the weather is so nice now. There are sooooooooooooooooooo many things I can think of that my SO and I could be doing together...it seems like wasted time. Anybody else feel the same way? I also think that if her visa is approved in November or December....which is when I realistically expect it...she will be arriving in the winter here. Quite a shock to her I am sure, and personally I HATE winter.

My girl is sitting in 90+ temp and I sit in 70+

I like seasonal changes, so does she. Hot 3 months, cold three months, in between 6 months. Perfect.

It is opposite here. 800F here and 60F there. ugh.

I also think it's because there's some cool events happening in Santa Barbara (where he is), and London, Ontario (where I am), this coming weekend, so we'll both be off doing 'fun' things, but without each other. sad.gif I hate that.

I feel exactly the same way. Leidys and I keep skipping fun things to do alone, because we would prefer to do them together. Plus, going alone just isn't much fun. For instance, next weekend, I want to see the Electric Daisy Carnival, but going alone is the pits. I still might go, because it is painful having to always do things alone - if I get out to do them at all. My friends have outgrown this sort of thing, but I still love the music, and listen to it everyday. Leidys would go with me, so I still have the option of waiting until next year. We would just avoid the scarry rides! wacko.gif

Today, Ian went to the Waterside Festival, where he was performing poetry, and also listening to his friend's band play. I happened to call him mid-band performance and he couldn't hear a word I was saying, but left the phone on so I could hear the band. I set my phone to speaker. It was so cool! I felt like I was there. smile.gif

I'm glad for Skype and the almost-free sort of way we have it working for us.

Her mother is the only thing standing in the way. She is an evil women who only wants money. She would rather have money than her own daughter. She told me she wanted 500,000.00 baht from me to give Nan the papers she needs. That is roughly $15,750.00 US Dollars.

Major red flag sir.

Just say no. If Nan does not come then you know she is complicit in this ripoff. Don't be played like that. It is a common play from that part of the world. Sorry to say. That is why they are considered a high fraud area. Don't do it.

Nill said that she wasn't in on this with her mother. What I am explaining is that he can stall the Mother until Nan can be with Nill, and then stop making his $25/month payments. kicking.gif

Can Nan call wherever passports come from and tell them her passport was stolen (essentially it was) or lost and get a new one? Just a thought. It might be less than $15K. smile.gif

Well today Nigel went and sent in for his police report whatever they wanted for the package 3 that we're doing ahead of time...I think there was also something that they had to do so that they had to get the boss at work to sign something as well, same thing you do in Canada and Uk for a passport. So i'm riding his #### to get that stuff done....there is a form that you have to print off as you type online your stuff and it makes a barcode. His printer's messed up so who knows how he's gonna do that without little ol' me! hehehe....My birthday is on Sunday so he sent me a nice gift and money from his parents! Nice!! Love that family!!
Hope all is well with everyone and happy mailbox checking! Hehehehehe!

Agreed. I apologize. My plans are to return to Barranquilla next month, and check my status on-line while I'm there.

Question: Do on-line notices arrive before written NOA2s? Leidys is going to prepare by getting her Passport in advance so that we can Fax the biological info to the Consulate when the NOA2 arrives. We have some additional papers to file with Packet 3 that we will begin signing as well.

kicking.gif Mid July through Mid August looks to be the time for NOA2s for a majority of this thread, though. kicking.gif

I've read that sometimes the website or the email notifications arrive after the physical NOA2, but sometimes they don't. Some people get their email and then the NOA2 physically arrives within a few days.

Have you seen this for packet 4? http://bogota.usemba...ntment_temp.pdf

It's always interesting to me to see the actual letters that arrive. good.gif

$3K-$5K per trip? On HotWire.Com, I just found a fare for $922 r/t - you are overspending on your plane tickets, unless if you are going First class or something. I hear China is a very inexpensive place to visit. $5K?? What are you doing while you are there??

You must be looking at something else because I just went to Hotwire.com and cheapest was $2010 for one stop RT flight, $1587 for 2 stops. I have no idea what you see but I leave mid-July and come back mid-August. Unfortunately that is not a cheap time to fly to China.

If you are departing on a weekend and returning on a Sunday, your airfare is typically higher. Demand drives prices, and not many travelers are vacationing in ColOmbia. Reservations for hotels are not necessary unless you are traveling during NYE or February (during Carnivales).

Oh, and you keep spelling the name of the country incorrectly.

I bet it would be quite expensive if you had to stay in a hotel. We spent around $2,500 for 3 flights, fortunately. Both of us are currently out of vacation time, and think our cash should be saved for living on and a very small wedding when Ian comes over. No travelling till the visa is done. Bleh. As Ian always says, "It'll be fine!" biggrin.gif

Well, if they're approving February now, then it hopefully should be August timeframe. I'm hoping anyway. Am I reading that wrong?

part of the reason so many of us check everyday is because for many, the day we get the visa, is the day we can plan to see our fiances again. if, like me, your fiance can't get a visitor visa because of where they're from, you might be more inclined to check more frequently. every case and every person is different and we can't critisize each other's way of coping with this.

I'm with you... Can't see my SO till the visa's gone through. With the expense of moving, AOS and a wedding, it seems like too much to pay for another flight ticket at this point. My only advantage is that we "could" (go into severe debt and) buy a ticket, if we wanted. I envy those people who at least get something of a break from the waiting. smile.gif Ah well... soon enough!

If this doesn't help you feel better, nothing will.

SO in Morocco
Filed in late January
Just got NOA2
No update on the USCIS website... what-so-ever (in fact, website still says it's pending)
NOA2 just showed up in the mail a few days ago
Oh, and filing to the VSC, which seems to be a tad slower than CSC. smile.gif

just thought I would drop a note...
Checked my Case Status online today, and still shows as pending... Guess they do not update the "Status" too often. So I would only look at your last update for a hint of anything to come...
I noticed that if you do the lookup from the front page of USCIS it is not as specific as when you log in and look.

Really? Do you see touches on one and not the other?

Oh well, I checked online today....no notice for me...no touches....aaaaargh.....lol...

I feel like the black sheep now.... We had planned on waiting until August alone to get our NOA 2. Now I do feel like a cheater... Sorry guys, I know seeing me get approved so quickly must suck. I will still be here for morale support if that counts for anything. unsure.gif

Congrats to you both! smile.gif This is the goal... get NOA2 and move on! It's good when things move faster than we anticipate. Good for you! good.gif

Just smack me next time I get all sentimental headbonk.gif Just going a little crazy waiting blink.gif Is anyone else checking their mailbox and online status every day?

Only a couple of times, and calling just in case it has something different to say (which it hasn't so far). No biggie. smile.gif lol

I've definitely been checking my mail and e-mail and on-line status everday. you can call? is it just an automated phone system or do you get to talk w/an actual person? what's the number?! one more thing for me to check religously.....

oh-and i like that you have your goal poa for september! mine is for late september/early october-i can't stand the thought of november.....

The number's on your NOA1. You'll need your WAC #, too. It's all automated, so no real people are being bothered. smile.gif

We kinda expect the NOA2 to come in July-August which will be cool because I will be there in China.
Wow, I just looked at the timeline data for CSC K1 filers and Feb. ones ran about a month from NOA1 to NOA2! There were hardly any K1s filed there in March so I think we all are in progress (fingers crossed). kicking.gif

Actually there are about 74 K1 filers in March @ CSC which is more than any other month this year so far. I am still hoping to receive my NOA2 by end of July 09. Good Luck.

Has anyone ever seen this: http://www.uscis.gov...fe_of_uscis.pdf I found it interesting. It looks like USCIS is keeping busy. smile.gif

Happy news can be found in the February 2009 Filers topic. It's exciting to look at their thread (and timelines) now and again to remember this IS gonna happen (for all of us!)! smile.gif
