You know, I DID buy some chocolate "for Halloween" hehe...but ya, i'm a wreck right now, i'm really glad every day is over just to get to the next, like squares in a board game. I dont want to even think about if we get denied, I really dont know what we'll do. Sell the house, the car, move to England, whatever it takes, but I dont want to think like that right now, I'm just going round and round in my head with stuff right now, Lisa tells me just to BREATHE but its easy for her to say right now. So, i'm really trying to think positive and to keep the thoughts swayed to the approval not a denial...4 more sleeps....lol.

Oh, and breathing is not the only thing I've suggested (breathing hopefully gets you out of anxiety for a moment, though).

My tips for the interview: Listen to the questions carefully, answer them honestly. You know they are not going to care about his juvenile offense. They may discuss it, but it's not going to be a show-stopper. You know that from reading the manual. It's just that it's stressful and you don't want your interview to fail. It's not going to!

Star - Hang in there... At least you're making progress! Having an interview date is a good thing. Knowing they're approving people, also good! Smooth sailing from here. smile.gif

EOTR - I really hope things work out quickly for you. It stinks that their computer was stolen. sad.gif

Have a good rest of the weekend everyone!

LOL... Ok, eat some chocolate, then. biggrin.gif You have to breathe sometime. smile.gif

Ian's sitting on his plane right now, about to take off from Heathrow. He said he panicked on the way to the airport, when he went to check his jean pocket for his passport and it wasn't there. I guess he changed jeans this morning, and forgot to move the passport, too. Whew!

I could imagine what Allie is going through.

But, I have a VERY good feeling that Nigel will get approved and both of you will be together really soon.

The time before the interview is pretty stressful. I haven't seen one thing with any of our cases which would cause a denial. No way. star_smile.gif

Just a question.... What would be the down-side of letting it all go (legal issues in China) so you can take care of the visa part and just be together? Just curious

Well, when the father died he left his house and all his savings (tens of thousands) to his daughter. So the mother is fighting for the daughter's future and that is something that she will never let go. The father's family (who he grew to dislike very much) got nothing which is why they are fighting this so much. That would be fine except the way they are doing it. They are slandering and smearing the mother and daughter horribly. They convinced the company that held the father's savings to give the family access to the money (which she thinks they are using to pay off the judge). The family emptied the house of everything and when the mother changed the locks on the door, they broke the door down. It is just a crazy situation and causing us so much pain. My girls just want to put the money in the bank, sell the house, and get the hell out of the country.

*sigh*

Nothing heard from Chris and Tanya yet??

As for the Riggs donations, lol I will pass. I have enough to worry about myself, and could easily start up an account asking for my own money... that is for sure... Sorry you didn't know about the AOS fee... that's an unfortunate surprise, if you weren't expecting it sad.gif

Do you have any family or friends that might be able to pitch in, if you threw a fun fundraising sort of party? Ya never know.

Mav... for the SSN what state are you in? The requirements vary from state to state. I personally am not going to get mine ahead of time, cause I heard it can be a pain in the butt with the name change and everything. But I dunno... I've heard stories on both sides. huh.gif

I live in Ohio.

I'm not sure the requirements for ID for an SSN would vary by state. It's a government agency. I know there are varying levels of office staff's understanding of the rules, but that's just because they don't understand the rules correctly, right?

Thanks, but I am sure when you and Chaz get the interview it will be in November. I was the last one on this thread to get an approval, and probably going to be the last one to have a visa approval.

You are so sweet! But basic facts are while Chaz may zoom out and get a Nov. interview, I will be lucky to get one by Feb. the way things are going. We are so cool with that, knowing that our love is most important and we will be together soon enough. I am happy to see the rest of you finishing this step! I am trying now to go to China in November because it will look good on our visa app. It'll cost me a couple thousand but it will be sooooo good to hold my girls again. Wish me luck!

That is a good idea at least you will be able to see them and support them just by being there. Just a question once they do get their visa they have six months before they can come to US. So, why are you requesting a mid- January interview when they can possibility get it sooner. Once they get everything resolved and have their visa they can come when they want within 6 months. Unless, there is something I don't know about the interview wait at your consulate.

Good point, Star! I hope that changes something for them. It would be nice for them to be able to come over asap after all they've been through.

Hope they are ok about him just telling them about the tire thing as a teen...JEEZZZZZ....11 days...............

Did you breathe at all during that paragraph? biggrin.gif It will all be ok. 11 days will come and go quicker than you think.

I feel like it's been a month since our approval, but it's only been 2 days. Hopefully, visa in hand by Tuesday. Next week is Ian's last week of work. We expect the embassy to react like clockwork at this point.

Just keep telling yourself it will all be fine. As long as Nigel brings the forms on the checklist, it's pretty much CAKE. smile.gif

Orange... wedding dress.... hmmm..... I just can't imagine.

Is Attaya getting married this weekend?

In other news: I have our ceremony venue booked (the courthouse... tough one, eh?) and the dinner after the wedding booked, and my parents have bought their flight tickets from Virginia. We are getting married on November 29th. biggrin.gif

I wouldn't worry too much about the police report thingie. I'm sure it will be fine. It's not like there was a list of offenses, for example, which might make it more difficult, depending on the charge.

What's this about the child support not being counted? I never really checked into that part of it, but I did mark that my daughter was only partially supported by me.

Oh my gosh! All these things these girls have to endure. I am sure their is going to be something positive coming at the end. This is only temporary and all that they have had to suffer will just seem like a bad dream.

Anyways, just putting N/A I really don't think K-1 applicanct should be required to fill that form. Or they need to change the verbage.

Don't know what to say about the "spouse" thing, maybe attach a note that says there is no spouse? Maybe PM pushbrk?

As for our situation, yeah their family is really crazy and the judge told them off in court. We did get the house paper though so that is good. The money is more for my girl's education later. ####### that they try to pretend they care so much about her but they want her money now. The judge saw right through them and said so.

*sigh*

Of course this all had to happen in the same month we got the P3. But we are not feeling the punches now, we have weathered so much. They hit and hit at us, and we just stand back. Time is on our side.

Star - Look at the example forms. If you've never been married, then they are a perfect resource.

EOTR - What an insane situation. I hope it will all be over soon and the drama will be over.

Some days, I love the time difference between Omaha and London. This is one of those days. I was awakened at 4:30 am by a very happy fiance who says the embassy has blessed his arrival in America! We were very confident (thanks to endless reading of VisaJourney!), by the end of yesterday, that all the paperwork was in order. Ian said he was asked 4 questions... the "how did you meet", "when were you engaged", etc. sort of things. The man interviewing him at the embassy said his sister met her husband online and they'd been married 10 years. smile.gif They said he should have his paper visa within 5 days and he will be ready to fly at that point. We're both very excited! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsLondon Embassy Interview and Medical Experience
QUOTE (Alex&Brittany @ Nov 20 2009, 05:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all

Yesterday I had my interview and Medical experience in London at the US Embassy and Knightsbridge doctors (Basil Street)

I travelled down to the London the night before, and stayed in a hotel so I could be up early and raring to go

I didn't get much sleep as I was really nervous about the day coming up, but had my fiance on the laptop with me all night to keep me sane, and she's my alarm clock too, so woke me up right on time.

I got up to find I had forgotten my hairdryer, disaster, as the hotel didn't have one, which meant I couldn't wash my hair (its quite long) so that left me feeling a little unorganized for the day... but nevertheless, I left the hotel....

Getting to the embassy was reasonably easy, considering how busy the tubes were in the morning, I arrived approx 1 hour before my 10am appointment, and spoke to the gentlemen by the information stand outside the embassy who directed me toward Gould Pharmacy, where I could store all my electronic items. It was only 2 mins walk (if that) from the front of the embassy.

I had my laptop, mp3 player, phone etc... they charged me £3 for the electronic items, and a further £3 for the bag. Strange cos I'd heard they charge £10 ? Must have been brought down. The guys inside were very good at making sure you didnt have anything left on you that wasn't allowed by the embassy, and made you feel safe your items would be well looked after. They have a tabled section in the pharmacy where they have information on what the service offers, and they sit down with you there and talk through it all with you, it's more than just giving it to them over the counter and they hand you back a ticket, I was quite impressed.

Anyways... off to the embassy I go, cigarette shakingly in hand ! lol

There is a queue, but it's very short, firstly I was asked at the very front of the embassy to show my passport and appointment letter, then asked to transfer any jewelry, change and belts into my bag that I had with me (if you dont have a bag they provide you with a clear plastic bag), I was then asked if I had any electronic items, which I didnt)

You then move up to the next part of the entrance, where someone checks your passport again, and your appointment letter, then directs you through the small booth outside the embassy where I went through a security check (very much like airport security, put all ur stuff in a tray, then walk through a metal detector)

Once through security, you walk around the side of the embassy following the signs for 'Visas' , I passed a small smoking shelter on the way round so stopped off for another quick one, knowing I wouldn't get any nicotine for a while...

Once inside the visa department, I queued at a welcome desk where an embassy employee checked my passport and appointment letter, printed my 'number' sticker and attached it to my letter. They then ask you to go take a seat upstairs and wait for your number to be called.

When you get into the waiting room, it's bustling with people, and the noise only dampens to hear the automated announcements of numbers and window allocations. (" I567 to Window 8 please " ) etc...

Note: At this point you realise that theres a two letter system, Nxxx and Ixxx, my number was I868. The N numbers move faster as I presume they are for non immigrant visas, and the I numbers for immigrant visas (not much sense needed to figure that one out lol... )

As I was saying, my number was I868, as I sat down, they called I859, so I felt good there wasn't too many ahead of me.

So I sat......... and sat............. and sat some more............. and then sat some more................ (about 2 hours all in all waiting) and finally, I was called to window 13 (EEEK UNLUCKY NUMBER! WHY ME!) Where a young british chap was waiting, he asked me about the type of visa I was applying for, gave me a payment form and then asked me to go to window 12 to make payment for it and come straight back to window 13...

several $'s later...

The guy then asked me had I had the medical, to which I replied, I have it booked for this afternoon, which he said was fine and asked for the following:

Passport
My Birth Certificate & Copy
Police Certificate & Copy
Visa Photos
Affidavit of Support & Evidence

For the affidavit of support, we used a joint sponsor.

The documents I submitted for the Affidavit of support are as follows

i134 from fiance
fiances letter of employment
fiances bank statement
i134 from co sponsor (not a family member, and does not live in same state)
letter of employment from co sponsor
letter from bank from co sponsor

So I was then told that I had the required documents, but I had to go through an interview with a consular officer (which I knew was going to happen, but I didn't want to play the know it all, so I listened VERY intently to any instructions I was given)

I had to go sit back in the waiting room, and wait for my number to be called again...

So I sat...........and I sat.......... oh you know where this going...

Almost 2 hours later, I was called back up to window 15, where a very pleasant US lady was waiting for me, I greeted her with a smile but she could tell I was nervous, but I guess thats what they expect...

I was asked a number of questions about my application, and my relationship...

A good tip is to keep a copy of your original application to UCSIS and remember every peice of information you wrote on it, as you will be asked about it at the embassy, I nearly struggled remembering the month I met my fiance lol....

From what I can remember, I was asked at least the following

How did you and your fiance meet?
When did you meet in person for the first time?
What happened with your relationship after you met in person for the first time?
How much time have you been spending in the US this year ?
Did you propose to your fiance?
Did you get her a ring?
Has your fiance ever been to the UK to visit you?
When are you traveling to the US ?
When is the wedding?
Where is the wedding ?
Where do you plan to live ?
What does fiance do for work ?
What do you do for work ?
Have you handed your notice in at work?
Have either of you been married before ?
Do you either of you have any children ?

After answering that barrage of questions, some of which I wasn't prepared for but just told the truth and kept my answers short and simple, the lady said as I haven't had the medical yet, they will hold on to my passport until they get the results, and courier the passport with the visa in it, and a big brown envelope full of my application documents that must remain sealed and present it to the Immigration Officer at the port of entry in the united states.

APPROVED !!

A sigh of relief ran through my body, and I could only have been happier if my fiance was sat next to me... throughout the whole embassy experience, even if you KNOW for a fact that you have all the requirements, you still get extremely nervous, but it all works out

Part II
Medical Examination

I had my medical as basil street in London, not the knightsbridge practice

I found the building ok, no problem there, is down the side of harrods, and then along the road a little bit

I was greeted by a cheerful secretary who took my passport photocopy, my vaccination records, and then my medical questionnaire

I was then told to wait in the waiting room. A short while after the secretary brought me a questionnaire to fill in which I returned to her having filled it out.

I was then taken through to have my chest xray, a very scary lady who was very demanding of me took it, I had to take my shirt off and put on one of those hospital gowns.

After the xray, I was shown to another waiting room where I waited around an hour to be told I needed two vaccinations... well, the NHS are going to give me them for free so I didn't bother paying for them... i was told confirmation from my GP was enough for the adjustment of status process.

So I went in to see the doctor, Dr Sayeed, a very pleasant young lady who made the medical experience a little more relaxing.

I was asked questions about my medical history such as, had I ever been hospitalized etc...

Then I took an eye chart exam (reading the big to small letters)

Then I had my blood pressure taken

Then a throat and ear examination, followed by checking I was a guy (yup, the only way how) and then I had my blood taken.

That was it, that was all I had to do for the medical, I paid £190 and was sent on my way knowing the results will be with the embassy by tuesday next week

So All in all, a good experience, but it was a nerve wrecking one all the same... But nothing to worry about.

The coolest part of my trip (apart from getting the approval) was seeing the armed gaurds with MP5s outside the embassy (sorry, I'm a guy... lol)

If anyone has any questions please post up, otherwise I hope you have enjoyed reading, and I hope this helps a few of you prepare for your interview and medical experience.

Woodger

Congratulations! It's exciting to be done with it, isn't it?! smile.gif Good luck with your move!

A big thank you to all fellow Visa Journey members This site has been the most accurate site for information. Thanks to everyone for sharing experciences it does help with some of the anxiety of the processes. Good luck to everyone. The following is how the interview process went for me I hope passing this along helps you get through the process.

The interview was easy
I got there an hour and 15 minutes early the queue only had about 7 other ppl in it by that point, so i decided to queue up in there with them They let me in. I sat there for about 50 mins before i got called up to the window, where i gave the lovely lady my birth certificate, passport, police certificate & support documents
then she sent me over to pay the bill while she sorted through them. I came back and she gave me a form to fill out for the courier service, and she told me that, mines been the easiest she's had to deal with. I then waited for another 40+ mins to be called to the interview booth further on in the buidling, where i spoke to a kind american man. He asked very few questions, he asked where i was going, what my fiancee did for a living, where Burleson, Texas is then he handed me my x-rays and told me I was approved.

My port of entry will be on December 10th at Dallas International Airport. Thanks again for all the help Visa Journey has given us. kicking.gif kicking.gif biggrin.gif

Congratulations! My fiance lived in Letchworth growing up. smile.gif Texas is a nice place to move to. Good luck with the rest of your journey. smile.gif

I just received my NOA2. How will I know when my petition reaches the NVC and then the embassy? Do I have to call them or will the USCIS let me know when I log in to their website?

I want to thank everyone in advance. I have been looking at this site for the past year trying to figure it all out and it has been so helpful. I finally decided to register today. So yeah, thank you!!!

Give it about 10 days to arrive, then you can call NVC for status.

I was just wondering, our congressman checked into our case because it is past processing time frame.
The following is the response our congressman's office received from their inquiry about our I129F application... Is this just a generic answer given to all inquiries?

A review of the computer system shows that the petition is currently with an adjudicating officer for processing and the petitioner should be hearing shortly from this office. You are welcome to check status periodically.

Congressional Unit

Thanks,

Kathy

Well, you got your NOA1 7 months ago (that's a long time). They say it's with an adjudicating officer, but do you have any touches on your petition? I'm assuming you're reviewing status on the website. If it's in the hands of an officer, you should see a touch, because they're required to scan it when they are working on it. If you don't see any activity since your NOA1, then I would suggest a different congressman, if you have one, or a senator, to see if they can find out additional information.

We did write to our congressman, but not until the NVC stage. They actually called the NVC to get status. A week later, it moved, but it could have been coincidence. After the packet went to London, they emailed London to ask them for the expected turn-around time and got back to us with the information they received.

Our congressman seemed relatively helpful.

Hey everyone,

My I-129f was received on August 17th and ive still not heard back regarding my NOA2. Im starting to get really paranoid.

It seems some people who applied around this same date have heard back and we still havent.

Any advice? Or is it just sit back and wait??

Many thanks

Rhys

I have been waiting since May 28....and its driving me crazy.....Hopefully we will soon get our NOA2(s)

You've had no touches since you sent back your RFE response in September? I'd be writing a congressman, if you haven't already.

I agree! We were stuck at NVC for a random check for 30-some-odd days. We got some movement after contacting our senator for assistance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2010 - CSC Filing

Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself - I'm Alan from Westlake, Ohio.

I returned from Costa Rica on December 28 and just got done assembling all the papers for our I-129F (K-1) visa. I'm excited because I see that CSC is processing K-1's pretty quick - It would be awesome for Vanessa (my Fiancee) to be here sometime in July or August of 2010.

Hope all goes smooth for the new year and that USCIS folks are ready to process applications quickly for the new year!

Al

Good luck with your petition! Welcome aboard!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCalling all those who FINALLY succeeded in their journey

I think we are all in the same boat. It took us a month to get the documents they requested and it was submitted January 9th, 2010. Yeah, I am still waiting to hear something. I am glad that your interview went well, that is always a good sign :) . His interview did not got so well, a total of 6 officers grilled him and finally since they could not find anything wrong with his answers they just asked for a religious divorce decree from me, and additional evidence. The pictures we submitted of our engagement ceremony was not enough, so we just submitted tons of additional pictures, additional emails, and more phone records. Also affidavits from both of our parents and friends.

I also sent a letter to the consulate via UPS global express clarifying some of the issues they had along with a letter to extend the petition. They did extend the petition until Dec 6, 2010 of next year. I had asked for extention just in case I did not want them to use our extention expiring as an excuse to deny us.

I had not been able to get through DOS to find out the case status, and I email the consulate weekly but have not heard anything back from them regarding our case the last I heard it was in administrative review. But, hopefully next week I will get some news as far as what is going on and I will let you know.

Hang in there, and I am sure all of us waiting will hear some good news soon.

Star

So they have your religious divorce decree in hand, then. That's good news. :) I hope they make a speedy approval from that. It will happen, and we'll be cheering for you when it does. :)

Hang in there!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsk-1 VISA, went to found out if any changes on our petition

Still! is there any light at the end of the tunnel soon!

On November 27, 2009, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at .

How much longer does it take from here, we have been waiting patiently for any new news, I am just so depressed and need some advice here.

You can see who's getting NOA2's among VJ'ers here: http://cse.ssl.berke...vjdata/vsc.aspx (Vermont) or here (California). I referred to this a lot while we were waiting (ours was sent on 4/1/09, NOA2 7/20/09)

After approval of the petition, there is still paperwork to be submitted to the embassy, interview, medical appt, etc.

Waiting is difficult, but there's a lot of wait time, unfortunately. You could both be working on your packet 3 paperwork, which takes more time than it seems like it should. You can shorten your waiting time after NOA2 by being ready to go to the next step.

Thank you Menina! Yes, today the caseworker will contact the embassy and I just spoke with them. The consulate probably will not recieve it until our Sunday night. Since, right now its Friday night in India, and they are in a different time zone then us. Lets see what next week brings. DOS keeps telling me administrative processing and the last update was end of February.
