USAGroom: That is a very cool dress. Perfect for winter weather.

Are you Scottish, or do you like the clothing? I like traditional dress for guys.

Yes, my heritage is pure Scottish and the name/tartan is the most famous in the country. That's our family tartan on the kilt I posted.

I did the monkey suit routine my first marriage so I don't want to jinx myself by doing it again.

You're as bad as I am... I don't want anything remotely resemblant to my first marriage. smile.gif

I mentioned your kilt idea to Ian, and he said he might be interested in that, as well. His mother's maiden name is Williams. Coincidentally, the tartan color is red, which is the color I picked out for the wedding anyway. smile.gif

I think a guy brought the subject up.

How about this for a guy:

It was my first choice and still might win out.

That is cool! Are you Scottish, or do you like the clothing? I like traditional dress for guys. If Ian were in the military, I think a uniform would be cool. As for him, he is going to wear a really nice suit, probably without a tie (as opposed to a tux), because we are not being formal at all.

Although MensWarehouse.com does rent suits these days. I have not been hanging out on the Internet at all. smile.gif

Ashenflowers, have you tried anything on yet or made a decision? We want pictures biggrin.gif

laughing.gif

No, I haven't yet. I need to lose weight first, and probably won't try anything on for a couple of months. For some reason, 'the' dress isn't as big a deal to me as it probably should be! LOL However, that doesn't stop me from looking tongue.gif

I'm kinda going non-traditional. Our ceremony is small/private and on the beach, as I mentioned... and our reception is basically a 'fancy' bbq. laughing.gif
Anyway...
Even though this one is technically a bridesmaid's dress, I like it... the one on the far right... but the sash is a bit too wide and distracting... it's more like something I'd wear to our reception back in Canada.

I also like this one, but I don't like the fit... it has potential to make a girl look preggers when she's not. LOL

I also like this one the most I think, except in more of a white colour (i.e. off white, much less 'cream' coloured, or whatever). It's the one on the right hand side, w/o the flowers... although I don't like the flowery thing on the side of the dress and would probably take it off.

So yeah, they're all different, and essentially I have no idea. tongue.gif
LOL!
I haven't even looked at David's Bridal yet... Those are just from Sears. LOL

My apologies to the guys in the thread for all the dress talk... whistling.gif

Those are really pretty! I like the last one the best. smile.gif Beware of David's Bridal. If you put things in your cart (online) and leave without buying them, they call you the next day, asking you if you need an appointment. "No", I say. "Are you sure? Your wedding is only xxx days away..." lol (they are somewhat pushy, IMO)

I do have my dress, attaya. It is hanging in my closet, waiting for me to find a suitable garment bag for it. smile.gif

Good night, everyone! Thanks for helping me get through the day. biggrin.gif

Looks like we are nearing the start of April approvals finally ... the good thing is there really aren't that many April filers so they should sail through the April ones at a good pace ... still quite a few March to go it looks like though sad.gif

Leidys was sent some $$ to obtain her Colombian Passport and DAS - Police background check. The Colombian Passport will be utilized along with a Visa inserted inside of it that will serve as the one-way ticket into the USA at LAX - her POE. In Bogota, she will obtain her medical examinations - just like she did when applying for the Fuerzas Aereas Colombianas in 2007 - Colombian Air Force. I will be obtaining all related Packet 3 Paperwork, and taking necessary paperwork to her as well.

On the Academic front, I plan on visiting some School sites where Developmentally Disabled students and Disadvantaged youths are educated. At the top of my list is Shakira's Pies Dezcalsos school. There, students who are displaced due to floods/natural events, and warfare are given a place to receive an education. Also, La Cruz Roja (Red Cross) has a facility in Southern Barranquilla where students who are Mentally Disabled are taught Functional Skills - just like the work that I do full-time here in Southern CA. 100% of my students are primarily Spanish-speaking during my summer program, so it is fun practicing my academic vocabulary with them. These observations will be made in order to gain a wider perspective with regards to special services made to those with disabilities. Don't worry, there will be tons of photographs posted, then linked from my website to show everyone what it is like there.

We're all expecting souvinirs. smile.gif Hope you have a fun trip! Won't be long now!

Have fun!

It's about twenty hours of flying time and about 36 hours of traveling, but it will be worth it smile.gif Lamine has to drive 2 hours to get to the airport as well. Oh well. I'm going to be there for one week and will have about 4 days of traveling. At least labor day weekend is in there, so that's one day of vacation that I can save. It doesn't seem real that I'm really going to see him again.

Ken got the letter about stuff being shipped to the embassy. I'm sure he'd share the text of it with us..

Dear Petitioner:

The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week (8/17) the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place. Our records show that you filed the I-129F petition for: Leidys......Your fiance will soon receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for the K1 visa at that post and what documents will be required. In the meantime, you should visit the Department of State's website at:....to determine if the processing post has any information of which you should be immediately aware.

Sincerely,

Bureau of Consular Affairs

Hope this helps everyone...

-Ken

Same letter, then, only normally they really mean it when they say it'll be sent off within 7 days.

Who knows...................Ian and Lisa said they got the same letter and they're still waiting for it to be sent out to London. Sooo, i donno. I'm also thinking cause there's a case number now, maybe with the case number we can book a medical with it. I wonder if thats what everyone else is doing....i'm so confused and part of me says this is a normal process, they would have told me by paper if they are doing "additional processing", i also read on VJ that the term "additional processing" is normal and "Administrative processing" is the more in depth thing they do and takes a bit longer, I have NO idea. Another part of me is to just go with it like what it says "within a week" sent off to London and whatever after that is whatever....I dont want to think that i'm gonna wait weeks and weeks like Ian and Lisa....i really dont. Soooo, still the waiting....and watching....

Lisa and Ian don't want to wait weeks and weeks, either, but so far, what we want hasn't counted for much. tongue_ss.gif

You know, by now, how bad the immigration offices are at communicating. People get updates or no updates on websites, emails or no emails about approval... lost NOA2's... lost applications on the way to NVC.

I have the same letter you have. I asked the same question about the medical in the London thread, but they said to wait for packet 3. If your medical info gets to London before London has your case, then what?

I've seen people try to send their packet 3 paperwork to London even without getting out of NVC, and London sends it back. So don't do that, either.

-We have been told all along that we are in additional processing.

Ken got the letter about stuff being shipped to the embassy. I'm sure he'd share the text of it with us..

Lisa, I've done this immigration thing years ago and was on the other end of the coin (the beneficiary) and the interview is just a recapping of all the info, going over the money (of course) and them just looking you over....if you have your ducks in a row as most of us does, its no biggie, in and out pretty much. I called the NVC today and the lady said nothing to me about AP like the other guy...funny how they may just be throwing the word around maybe...oh well....

well we can make plans but everything is still up in the air

I stopped making any plans. I just want to focus on getting the visa. I tried making wedding plans, picking a date, etc., but you know... it was just too much stress when our visa stalled at the NVC.

Still in AP. Tomorrow is my ex-husband's birthday. I think it should go then. devil.gif

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend ...

Just a update on our RFE situation ... I received it in the mail today ..

They are asking for a photo copy of my passport ( Which was my guess ) and evidence of meeting in person within the past 2 years ... which I assume they are looking for the stamps in my passport. So that is great as I already have a extra copy made and ready here from when Jenelyn needed a copy for her CFO certificate .... I am thankful it is a easy quick fix and I hope the rest of our Journey goes quick and smooth now.

Thanks to all those who have left me a comment here or in private messages.... the support is amazing and we thank you all for that!

Great news! Well dont forget a picture or so!

I actually gave them 50 pictures of her and I and her family with the petition .. I am wondering if they got lost or separated from our petition or something ... I guess I am off to Walgreens now to print off some of those pics again to send in ... the bad thing is I forgot to put the setting on the camera when I was there to show the date correct .. but the RFE says they will accept non dated pictures so that is good. I think the entry/exit stamps from the Philippines is what they are really wanting.

Good! You've got something you can quickly turn around. smile.gif Did you send itineraries/boarding pass copies? That'll put a date on things, too.

You're sending things back extra speedy/tracked, right? smile.gif

Hey Ian and Lisa ,

Yup I added the boarding passes, hotel receipt, interneries again ... I included those with the original petition but I am wondering if part of my packet got lost or separated from my petition. Because in the RFE it also lists a section about pictures together .. but I think it refers to showing proof you met in person the past 2 years.

Anyway, I included boarding passes again, hotel receipt, intenery, and this time I also included a bank statement showing the ATM withdrawls I made there as well as the credit card statement paying the hotel stay. I also printed off another 10 pictures of her and I.

They also sent back 2 of the 4 G-325 papers I sent ... silly me forgot to sign 2 of them ... how the hell did I sign 2 and not the other 2 ... I must of really got side tracked or something that day I was working on the G-325 headbonk.gif

I will be making my way to fed ex this morning and over nighting the RFE ... with luck we will have a approval by the end of this next week or early the following week.

I sure hope you guys make it out of AP soon Ian and Lisa ... we will say a prayer for you guys!!

Thank you for that. smile.gif It sounds like they are saying you and your SO met in another country, other than her country of residence. Is that the case?

I guess I am off to Walgreens now to print off some of those pics again to send in ... the bad thing is I forgot to put the setting on the camera when I was there to show the date correct .. but the RFE says they will accept non dated pictures so that is good. I think the entry/exit stamps from the Philippines is what they are really wanting.

Good! You've got something you can quickly turn around. smile.gif Did you send itineraries/boarding pass copies? That'll put a date on things, too.

You're sending things back extra speedy/tracked, right? smile.gif

I got an e-mail this morning confirming my medical so woohoo for that, checked the mail however and did not receive packet 3 or my interview letter, so I'm praying I get them both next weeks so I won't have any trouble at the consulate and medical about not having those papers.

Yay! I missed this earlier! smile.gif You've got your medical!

Hey Attaya ... nothing in the mail today other than junk mail ... hopefully tomorrow ... today was the very earliest I expected it ... what is odd is I got a touch the day after I got the email stating the RFE and our petition was put on "suspense" until either we reply to the RFE or the time allowed has passed to respond ... my guess is the touch the day after is either it was the RFE was actually mailed on August 12th instead of the 11th ( which prompted the new touch on the 12th) or the 12th they entered something putting our petition into suspense ... all this waiting and waiting is driving me nuts ... I sure hope after this RFE things smooth out for us. A person can only take so much, especially being so far from the person you truely love so much.

Have a great weekend you all ... I'll post any update tomorrow after the mail comes in ... ** crosses his fingers **

What a bizarre and annoying week.

AP for me, still.

Good luck with your next steps, everyone. I'm watching and hoping for good news next week for all of you. smile.gif

Speaking of updates, NVC received our case yesterday! hurrah!!! I have my new case #, which I believe I can use for booking my medical, and they said I can just email them to change my address!!! kicking.gif

The NVC can change your address over the phone. They did that with Ian's address. It takes them 2 weeks to get to their email.

I was talking with them on the phone when they told me to do it via email. ?

When I initially called the NVC, the call was for the purpose of finding out if Ian's address change that I put through to USCIS was made. After asking what the address should be, and I read it to them, they said, "No, it hasn't." I said, "Well, how do I go about changing the address?" And she said, "I can do that for you over the phone". I read it off, she input the change.

Before that, I had sent an email asking the same question. It was July 23rd. I got a response back via email 2 weeks later saying, "yes, the address change was done".

I suppose it can be done either way. I would guess NVC and the embassies all use the same database.

ashenflowers, that's great news about NVC! Congrats!

SomedaySomehow, any news on RFE? Hope everyting is going well.

Not as of yet ... the email said they mailed it on August 11, 2009. I don't expect it any earlier than tomorrow ... I am not sure how long they usually take to get to the door step ... I assume they send mail out on a daily basis so hopefully tomorrow.

I just hope it is something easy, something she doesn't have to send to me would be nice ... takes at least a week and a 50 dollar bill to fed ex something here from the Philippines.

Grats to all those having a nice fast smooth process ... at the rate our petition is moving the May and June filers will be together before Jenelyn and I sad.gif

Maybe something she can scan in and email to you. They shouldn't need original copies of anything unless it's her biometric forms or perhaps her letter of intent. I think they could do things a bit differently, like put on the online note what the problem is. Just like petitions should get to NVC in a scanned state, then sent electronically to the embassy. Things would be much speedier.

My update: AP. still. crying.gif crying.gif

Lisa, how do you check whats been sent out by the NVC?

"Once you know the date NVC sent off the file, track it at DHL's website: http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef For the reference code, enter EXP 10 AUG 2009A (adjust using dates around the date NVC told you), with a shipping range of that day to a few days later (Aug 4 - Aug 10 worked for the example above). Look for shipments to your beneficiary's embassy."

You'll see the 2 that went out on August 10. Normally, there are 50 or more going out. sad.gif

It's hard to keep up with you guys. All of you ar so way ahead of me...lol. But, I am sure the feeling is great to be speeding through this journey.

Wait until a couple months from now when you notice the (for the sake of this example) October thread and you feel so bad for all the people in there who still have so long to go. You start wishing that they has applied when you did so they could be getting their approvals now. I often wonder if the people who applied in January look at the April filers thread and think that.

Sometimes I look in the January thread and think how lucky they are that they are either in the US now and/or married already. Does that count? smile.gif

I do think about people who filed later and think about the wait they've got ahead of them.

I didn't even think of that, I do recall having looked jealously at the february filers thread when they were getting approved like crazy at like the 30 day mark. And then it just stopped right after we submitted our petition. Glad things are moving again! I looked through the first couple pages of this thread the other night and it was kind of like watching people go from freshman to seniors, I lol'd.

I do recall as a January filer looking at the February filers and being jealous that they got approved in 30 days some of them! When mine was like 60 something, I remember thinking...why didn't I just file in February! lol! Alot of the January filers are already married, but some are still waiting on visas, or just waiting in their home country to move and get married. One January filer is getting married the same weekend I am! Hehe probably why I am hanging around all the other month threads and lurking in the AOS threads to find out what I have in store and processing in the next 2 months after I marry.

Good plan! I've heard from a few people that gathering the AOS info/filling out the forms is some work. I haven't really explored that much yet.

Oooo... The wedding is coming! smile.gif Any idea when you're flying/driving in?

I'm not sure DHL did much Tuesday. Only 2 packets went out of the NVC. Maybe it was a DHL holiday (or an NVC one)

Hummus is good!

Sigh ... I can't imagine what they are going to ask for ... only thing I can think of is I didn't include a photo copy of my passport ... but included all airline tickets/ boarding passes / iterneries / hotel receipts etc ... and a original birth certificate ... I was all excited yesterday for the approval finally and yet we get this just to add more waiting waiting time ... pisses me right off this process ..

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

That is bizarre. My impression is that they should not need your full passport if you've sent your birth certificate. The full passport is only for identification.

It'll be interesting to hear what they could possibly need.
