Again, that is Igor's list I was quoting. Nothing to do with me personally. Nip it in the bud please.
Oh I'm just picking on you man... just don't want to awake youknowwho hahaha

rolleyes.gif <--- imagine that, but without the smiling. That reiterates the fact that the fun's pretty much been taken out of this thread for me, so I won't be posting much here any more, other than to let you know when I get my NOA2... but I will still be reading it to see how people are doing that I want to stay in touch with. speaking of which:

I didn't get any sleep last night, but it was fine. Lamine's entire family called me every half hour between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m--each person formally inviting me to his sister's wedding. No matter how many times Lamine explains the time difference to them, when they get excited about something, they have to call me first thing in the morning--their time. I love it, though smile.gif

THAT is freaken adorable attaya... haha biggrin.gif

Hope you all are well. Neil--good luck sending off all the papers and setting up the interview!

Lisa-have you heard if your case is at NVC yet?

Not yet, but I have gotten my affidavit of support done. I had to actually make a form for Bank of the West, because they have not heard of immigration here, evidently. smile.gif I may check tomorrow. We got a touch the day after approval, and we assume that was our petition leaving the building.

Lamine's family is sweet. smile.gif

God, I never realized how frustrating it was to see people who filed an entire month before you receive approvals before you....In the same breath I can't complain because there are people who have been waiting months and months longer than me....In a little bit, I'm going to go out in "celebration" of my seven month anniversary---seven months since I've seen Lamine. Ugh. Don't care about work tomorrow. Lately, I've been waking up in the middle of the night in a panic and calling out Lamine's name, and for a moment--I think he's still there sleeping next to me. I hate the feeling of realizing that he's half a world away.

Having another "break down" day, in case you didn't notice, but I promise to snap out of it soon biggrin.gif

Neil, excuse us, but how's the wedding planning going?

I still can't decide on a dress (I don't think I'm going to have an "it's the one" moment with a dress), but I've nailed down the menu, the cake, and I'm working out other details that will keep my mind occupied.

Come on approvals!

Don't have the energy to spell check tonight---sorry!

Your day is coming. I hope it's very soon!

I had a few nights like that, waking up and wondering where Ian was, and then remembering... sad.gif

Hope today is better! smile.gif

Woo Hoo!

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On July 20, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Great news! I am very happy 4 U Lisa!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! You're next. This actually DOES happen! The good news is that the email notification seems to be working like it should now. I remember when people were getting their snail mail NOA2's as their first indication their cases were approved. Now, it seems to be the ever-so-much-quicker email.

I hope they keep pushing along this week! I want to see more! smile.gif luv.gif

My notice came from "CRIS" via email. Then, I checked the website, and it was updated. The email came at 9:30 last night.

I know how you feel. I had my window open all day and just hit F5 every now and then to see if it was updated. smile.gif Totally non-productive! I'm glad to see approvals start to roll in. I really think we're in the queue now just waiting for that last scan.

Hello Everybody,

I foudn this posted tonight in a different forum and thought I'd pass it along. Apparently in 2007 a former USCIS employee applied for a K-1 and joined VJ. He then took the time to answer all kind of questions for the VJ community. I thought it was a good read.

It does adress country specific red flags and he says that while there is additional checks that are required for certain countries it doesn't dramatically affect wait times. So that is my bad, call me an ignorant Canadian if you must. blush.gif My apologies.

Anyways I thought I would pass it along it answers a lot of questions on why applications are approved out of order (although it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me), and why you would see several touches without RFE's or NOA2's.

Lisa-I really think you're going to get your approval soon! Maybe tomorrow.....smile.gif

If you have bluetooth on the cell phone and a laptop with bluetooth, you can zap a picture file from the phone to the computer.

It's kind of a pain, though, so if the phone had an online photo album service (I know alltel does), you could send the dress photo to that, log onto the photo service, then download the photo to your PC.

Welcome! I received a touch on Friday, as well. I think you're right... they are working on our petitions (yay!)

Steph - Too funny... there really IS no pattern, is there? We were going with, "They're working on all the countries starting with a "k" sound..." until we saw the Bangladesh approval. I think it's just random in the stack they've picked up.

It's all happening! smile.gif

Well if CSC gets into the pattern that they had before, we should see some April approvals very soon. They were (before the stall) going in a pattern that seemed to be when they hit about 40-50% of the previous month (March in this case) that they would start some April ones. I'm hoping thats the case and that we see some more approvals soon!

Congrats on your NOA2!

As for the rest of the stuff, I think regardless of what month you are in, providing a helping hand and a listening ear is a great thing. I know we don't mind at all having people from other months posting on our thread for questions or congrats. We have a couple people who sent their package in March, but the NOA1 was delayed to April, so thats why I follow this thread. I'm just as excited for you guys to get your stuff as for the people who filed with me, and in the months before me (I'm active in the January and Feb boards as well and one of the Feb girls actually has a few of us March files on her tracking list biggrin.gif). I also love hearing of your plans for your weddings, and I like seeing your posts about your girls usa, including the interesting ones about the attire you will be wearing for the traditional ceremony. I truely hope that your money comes through so that you do have a chance to visit them, it must be very hard for you to be away from them for so long. I know the almost 6 months are killing me, I can't imagine going as long as you have.

Ian has a theory that USCIS does things in batches. I'm betting that the May approvals we're seeing without expedites mean us earlier filers are on the way. smile.gif We're thinking we should know something in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the trend information, Steph. It's not something I'd noticed. smile.gif

What is everyone up to this weekend? I got to talk to my future MIL on the webcam today. I've met her in person a few times, and it was good to see her again. She met my daughter, as well, and my daughter is excited about having a British grandma and visiting England. She can't wait! Also, she asked to see my dress, which I was excited to do, after having made Ian leave the room.

Good days... straight ahead, people.

I've been posting in this thread since I started this journey and in case you didn't notice this thread is called is April 2009 "filers" and as you can see in my signature I filed April 20th. I'm not gloating, I had noticed that another person received a touch today and I wanted to share the good news that people are getting approved today after a really slow week.

Oh, I think the months are for when you get the NOA1. No problem, just saw the other thread and that you were a May NOA1er. Why do you think you were approved before any April of May NOA1er?

In all honesty it probablly doesn't hurt that I'm Canadian not that I think its fair, I want everyone to get there NOA2's pronto. But I also think based on last Friday there was a huge influx of approvals that maybe for whatever reason they've made it through the H1/2 (whatever work visa it was that was slowing down the K1's) and are now trying to get back on top of things. I expect a huge turn around rather quickly.

Hmmm... My opinion is that it doesn't matter that you're Canadian... There are plenty of Canadians around here who filed earlier.

Allie - What have you noticed on the USCIS website as being updated on the 15th of the month?

It means that they put the receipt dates that they are working on at the moment, so they are now working on anything before May 31, 2009, as it was last month, April 30th, 2009, so the Ca srvc center is on target with their cases received.

I'm sorry... are you looking at the processing times, where it says 5 months, or something else? Just curious to know what you're watching. smile.gif

Ok i'm a whiner. I can understand totally as we all can relate to the feeling of wanting our fiance's around to be a normal couple and such. The waiting is difficult however, cause you really are not sure on the whole process. If we knew when we'd be together, we can make a goal but we cant even make plans cause we just dont know, we speculate, thats it. And that bugs the ####### out of me! Oh well...at least the uscis website is updated and so maybe they're working on our cases now...who knows...

I think that's why we have the monthly progress threads--so we can incessantly whine together smile.gif

Also-I'm posting this article here because it pissed me off. I do want to say, though, that this attitude is not by any means popular in this college town. Don't want Idaho getting too bad of a rap.

http://www.uiargonau...t/view/8211/49/

I don't really expect all of you to read it, but it's basically a girl complaining about what she perceives to be the demise of the English language due to foreigners (specifically Spanish speaking people). It's people like this that make me extremely protective over Lamine. He speaks six languages, but I worry that the one he doesn't speak-English-will be what people use against him.

Anywho. Let's talk about cheery things now-like wedding cakes!!! biggrin.gif

oops...can't remember how to insert pictures...paste isn't working....

I read in the news the other day that soon they feel there will be a mad rush to learn Chinese, because it's the most widely spoken language in the world.

The language issue is something that could be debated for ages. All I can say is that I'm assuming people moving to a predominantly English speaking country might benefit from at least knowing enough English to phone 911 in the event of an emergency. I can see other benefits, as well. Communication is a good thing. If I moved to France, I would try to learn enough French to get me by in an emergency, before I moved.

I have a friend from Kenya who lives in the US. I've heard him speak Swahili. The language is beautiful, but I'm guessing the 911 operator would be entirely clueless if he called and only spoke Swahili. I'm guessing a taxi driver or the drive-thru person at McDonald's would be clueless, as well.

Do you have a baker picked out for your cake?

I am feeling really down the past two days, and I have to vent....this process is cruel! It is bad enough to be away from the one you love...but then I have to suffer more by watching happy couples walking around my apartment complex each evening, holding hands ets.....and I feel so alone. It feels like my life and my love is "on hold". I tend to be a worrier by nature and the time spent waiting just allows my mind to wander onto what all can go wrong. And then to read about some peoples dreams shattered here on VJ by being denied...it scares me to death. How are all of you dealing with this?

I can't imagine being denied without some sort of very legitimate reason. My understanding is that it takes a lot.. .some prior conviction, no evidence of some sort.

I think just focusing on the fact that it's mostly over can help most days. I try to block some things out (like the things you mentioned), which also helps. Then of course, there are the breakdown days, which everyone seems to go through.

You'll look back on all of this months down the road and you won't be able to believe all the stress is over with, I bet ya. Our day is coming!

I like how the timelines keep moving forward. All the more time for me to clean out my closet, to make room for Ian's things.

I'm using reverse psychology on the timelines. smile.gif

I'm not sure it'll work, but it's worth a try.

Yes, well I spend a bit on the phone bill too...i sent texts to England you see.....but whatever...FINALLY Nigel was reading some of the London consulate reviews on their interview processes so he has the idea what he's in for....so he was looking around this site, he's not quite as proficient as I am on here but he looked at a few timelines and so forth, so I think he's slowly getting the whole idea...lol. Well tomorrow is the big day for the USCIS site update, see how they're going....i'm playin hooky from work so I am home on the webcam with Nigel here and there throughout the day...(love that) and have tomorrow off, so maybe we'll have the cam on for 2 days...oh ####### thats awesome...lol, did we ever think in a million years that we'd be doing this? Noooooooo...right now the cam and the phone is my best friend....just to keep in touch with family and fiances!!!

I spend $0 on phone calls each month, except for the expense of my Alltell pay-as-you-go plan. Ian pays for Skype Out, has chosen a local number that I can call, and uses his "3" (a cell company in England) Skype-enabled cell phone to call me.

He pays for cell phone service, yes, but he did before. He just changed to "3" for the Skype capability.

He can call me with no LD charges involved from his cell or computer. I can do the same. It's really nice.

I'm not sure I'm wearing a veil... Our ceremony is going to be on the beach so it might not work out well to have a veil, and feels too formal for what we had in mind.

C'mon. this is your show that you do only once with the groom. I get the feeling that without a veil of some sort then the bride looks a little naked or informal for such an important event. It isn't a casual event, it is the everlasting union between two people, give us some pomp and circumstance! JMO smile.gif

lol yeah, I see what you're saying, but the veil doesn't really hold a lot of significance for me in terms of tradition or 'meaning', and I certainly don't think that the absence of a veil will take away anything from our day. If I went to our wedding in full ball gown with train and veil it would look REALLY odd, and just not really represent 'me'. Not having a veil won't have anything to do with the union between my fiance and myself. smile.gif

Also, as attaya mentioned with the hair... well, I'm probably not going to want to have anything covering mine either... and might end up with some wind on the beach so the veil blowing around would get annoying laughing.gif srsly...

Attaya... snowy mountain weddings would be very beautiful too!! We have to make sure we all keep in contact enough after this process to see each others wedding photos! laughing.gif

The dresses you guys posted are really really pretty, and I love the idea of the flowers. I don't think I will be doing a veil either, flowers and a tiara though. Unless the place I get my dress can convince my otherwise lol. I already picked out what I want my hair to look like!

So much planning to do, but for us we can't do the big wedding until next year for a few reasons, so it gives me a lot of time to plan once I am down there thankfully.

I love that hairstyle, btw. It's quite pretty!

ashenflowers, I hope these next three weeks and three days fly by for you rose.gif You'll be with your fiance soooo soon! smile.gif

I had many things I wanted to type out just now, but I'm getting read to pass out at 9:10 pm. Oh yeah. Is it sad that I have nothing to look forward to between 4 pm and 5 am?

Hope you all are having a good night.

Out of curiousity, where do ya'll live? (and I'm from Idaho and we really do use ya'll biggrin.gif )

We live in Nebraska. smile.gif

Good morning, everyone!

Hmmmm. We may have already talked about this, but have you all prepared the documents for Packet 3 yet? If so, what have you done? I've got the I-134 done, and am just starting on some of the other paperwork.

We haven't started on that yet. We have all the info for it, though, and Ian's sending off for his police certificate tomorrow.

How's Lamine's mom? Better?

Muchas Gracias!! We plan on marrying in Las Vegas, but 6 mos to 1 yr. later in Colombia with the family present.

That's us, too. We want to do a 1-year vow renewal ceremony in the UK so Ian's family can be there.

Thanks for posting the actual picture of the dress usagroom. I was multitasking too much to take the time to actually get it.. hahah It looks awesome when it's even larger on the screen!

I'm with you! I'm going for the flower approach myself. I found this on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/...ing_id=27600516 or this would be pretty, too: http://www.etsy.com/...ing_id=24744902.

A wedding on the beach would be nice. smile.gif A friend of mine did that around sunset. It made for some beautiful photos.

i found this one

It might be my favourite so far...

Ash - That's a very pretty dress. I was hanging out on Nordstrom a lot, too. smile.gif

Attaya - I hope she is much better today. How awful. How is Lamine?

Neil - Was it one of those thick penicillin shots? My daughter got one in her leg, and it was awful! At least the shots are over with. I hope you know how to box.

Neil, Hope all goes well with the medical!

I hate to keep being a debby downer, but could you all keep Lamine's mother in your prayers and thoughts? She has become extremely sick over the last few days (after sleeping a few nights in the house before it was fixed) and I'm not sure she's going to make it through the day.

I hope she is ok. How awful. sad.gif Keep us posted.
