I approve of the three-headed guy from Holy Grail, though it would have been 200% better with three actual heads (of course, that probably would have been quite difficult to pull off). tongue.gif

CanadaI134 question
If you get a bank statement (preferably signed by officers of the bank), you should be fine. That's pretty much what we had: I-134, W-2s, bank statements, and the 1040. (IMHO the 1040 is just secondary evidence anyway; it only repeats what the W-2s say, and the W-2s are actually coming from the employer, so they're more solid proof.)

We didn't need a co-sponsor as we were above the limit.

CanadaI134 question
It should be; the job letter and W2s are the primary evidence they're looking for, though paystubs can help.

The instructions give examples of good evidence; a bank account statement with all deposits over the last year would be good.

CanadaDear Montreal Consulate
We (or at least, ScooterMac, my fiancee, while I was paying the MRV fee) were told that the director was "furious" that people were so mean on here, but they also seemed to know that VJers are incredibly organized for the most part. Our paperwork already had the "approved" highlighted when they told me to look it over and sign it, so I figured that was a good sign. wink.gif

So yeah, they are quite familiar with VisaJourney in Montreal; they actually gave lgg a message by her username through one of the November 6 interviewers. tongue.gif

CanadaDear Montreal Consulate
Dear Montreal,

In light of the fact that I now know that you and most of your consular officials are reading VisaJourney, I figured I should make this thread. Please accept my sincerest apologies if I have ever said anything that may have been construed as a derogatory comment, including but not limited to, "wow, they're really freaking slow", "what the hell is going on in Montreal?", and/or "I wonder if they'll be done with our applications before the next ice age."

As a token of our appreciation for your work, our papers, photos and forms have been meticulously arranged for easy access at our interview on Monday.

No hard feelings,
Spoom

CanadaWhere is...
I'm in a hotel in Mississauga, working for one of my (better-paying) clients for the week. Trying to get as much work in before I head to the states and am in uncertain employment terms for a few months. smile.gif

This whole thing would be better if ScooterMac were here; they even gave me a king bed that's way too big for just me tongue.gif

Speaking of which, anyone have some suggestions for things to do out here?

CanadaImporting a Vehicle: Is the compliance letter always necessary?
Hrmm. I'm likely crossing at the Peace Bridge (Fort Erie to Buffalo) and I'd imagine that, given that it's one of the biggest ports between our two countries, they'd know what they're doing for car imports. Must check if I have those stickers...

CanadaImporting a Vehicle: Is the compliance letter always necessary?
We took the car to our local garage a few months back, a 2003 Impala, and they said that it had stickers on it that certified that it complied with California safety standards as well as Canadian.

Assuming this were true, would I need to have the compliance letter from GM still, or would I be able to import it without the letter?

Also, if I do need to get the letter, we're still working on transferring the ownership of the vehicle from my dad to myself. Would the compliance letter still be valid if my dad got it right now and transferred ownership to me next week? (I'm out of town until Saturday.)

CanadaGood Luck KnJ, Missa and cdn_gewels!!
Mine still hasn't shown up on Canada Post's website. sad.gif

Oh well, they said hopefully they'd get them out this week... I'd just as soon assume that it's a lag in Canada Post's website than Montreal not having mailed Monday's visas yet.

Approved! biggrin.gif

The lady said we were one of the most organized she'd seen.

Whole process was about an hour start to finish, excluding the time we waited from 6 AM (which was totally unnecessary as the next couple only got there at like 7:30). We felt a bit sorry for them as they said they were using a lawyer for their K-1 and were all organized and such, but he / she had apparently failed to mention that they needed to get their police certificates. ohmy.gif

We didn't see Liz25 there, but she might have arrived later. Good luck to her if she has the interview today smile.gif

CanadaAdvice on getting Montreal to let us pick up our visa?
I think you'd have to have a pretty good reason to get them to let you pick it up, and at the very least, you'd have to have a better reason than convenience.

Welcome to the forums. We'd like to encourage you to put that information in your sig if you feel like sharing, and actually talk to us when posting.

Contrary to public opinion, VisaJourney is not a diabolical machine that you throw timelines at and it spits out visas.

CanadaEntering USA on CR-1 Question.
QUOTE (SapphireDreams @ Nov 17 2009, 04:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Plus, you have to get married in the US on a K1, so if you are set on getting married in Canada, you'll have to do the CR1.

Or do the K-3 (though the CR-1 is usually better anyway).

For us it was a moot point as we were getting married in the United States and had quite a bit of planning to do anyway, so the K-1 was a natural choice. We also wanted to be together as quickly as possible smile.gif

CanadaPacket-3 help !!!
The Packet 3 checklist (or at least the one I got back in August) from Montreal specifies that you should send in both the confirmation page and the full five-page DS-160 printout. Make sure to fill it out with Internet Explorer because when I tried to use Firefox, it corrupted the printing of the full copy and I had to do the entire thing over again. (Quite a hassle for a Linux user as I had to reboot into Windows to get it to print correctly. People should really be coding sites for cross-browser compatibility nowadays, especially an entity as large as the Department of State.)

Montreal ultimately wants both, whether in your Packet 3 response or at the interview, so you might as well send the full printout in the Packet 3 response so you don't have to worry about it later.

Canadaenvelope size
Eh, you were kind of asking for it in a roundabout way (specifying the cost and relative size rather than saying "Regional XpressPost Prepaid Pack Mailer, 394x314mm"). The postal clerk at the Pharmaprix in Montreal where I got mine didn't understand me at first, but then I showed her the note I had written down with the dimensions and she was able to find it easily.

I do agree that the question about where you were shipping it was valid.
