United KingdomScared I'm Going To Get Lost

If you live in Greater London and you're super nervous, why not do a dry run between now and your appointment? It's not really necessary as it's all very straightforward, but it may make you feel better.

Im not so nervous now. Checked the route and it's pretty simple from the tube station :D I was just getting worried I would get lost and walk in the wrong direction haha.

United KingdomScared I'm Going To Get Lost

I found you one http://www.visajourn...e.php?id=132604

If you click portals, it shows upcoming interviews ...well only six of them. So the 11th is just now making its way to the bottom of the list. I have the UK portal. It doesn't show the ones that use England, Scotland or Wales as their country, so there could be others.

Oh Yay :) A friend maybe lol I shall message them and see if they are friendly hehe thanks Nich-Nick!

I was also nervous about finding the Embassy but you really can't miss it, it's HUGE! I checked it out when I was down for my medical and I also popped into the pharmacy to check out prices, the guy told me £3 which I thought was a bargain! They seem well used to Embassy folk turning up to drop off their electronics. My appointment is at 9am but I was planning on being outside for about 7.30 since I read somewhere that's when they start letting people in.

Good Luck!

When is your interview??? Mine is the 11th feb!

United KingdomScared I'm Going To Get Lost

I arrived at the embassy about an hour before my appointment. They just start letting people in and it goes on the number you get given at reception rather than appointment time, so I would say 0715 at bond street is perfect.

What time do they actually open?? I will get there even earlier if I have too lol I'm so nervous right now and its under 2 weeks away~!!!

United KingdomScared I'm Going To Get Lost

Hey, there is nothing to worry about, it's all straight forward. You can't miss the embassy from Goulds, you can see it LOl.
Bond St is the nearest underground station. From memory, and looking at the map, out of bond street, into north Audley street, and the pharmacy is on the right hand side. Have a map, or better still google maps on your phone if you have it. See one of the chaps in Goulds who sit at the desks all down the left hand side (they really are very organised here). Once you've dumped ALL your electrical stuff, out of Goulds, turn right, walk to the end of the road (about 300 yards) cross the little pedestrian crossing and you'll be right in front of the embassy. The security point is about mid point of the building down the pavement that runs between the embassy and the park you can see on the map. Easy peasy, nothing to worry about (and that goes for the embassy process too). Good luck.

Oh Thank you :) One more thing. My Appointment is at 8:30am, if I arrive at bond street around 7:15....is this too early?

United KingdomScared I'm Going To Get Lost

Here's my map. http://www.click2map.../Embassy_London
The places are marked. Zoom it in. The green marker for the embassy is roughly where you line up, near the intersection of Upper Brook St and N. Audley. Goulds is marked with an Rx on N. Audley.

And once again you come to my rescue! Thank You :D

What do I say in the pharmacy btw..."Hi can I leave my electronics here please?"

United KingdomScared I'm Going To Get Lost
Ok so this might sound pathetic but im scared im going to get lost when I go to my interview!

I live in greater London so travelling to Bond Street isn't a problem and I've checked out google maps to plan a route but I will still need to drop my electrical stuff off at the pharmacy. Is this the goulds pharmacy down the road, next to Savills and a cafe?

Is the entrance to the embassy inside the park area??

I have quite an early app so I'm trying to plan everything!

Sorry

United KingdomDocuments needed for interview

Also note that Blondie who commented was a K1. She had different documents to present because of not doing NVC processing. Your birth certificate and police certificate are already there. K1s have to call the embassy to pay in advance and get an emailed MRV receipt. You don't do that for a spouse visa.

Woops! Good thing you spotted this! OP...dont listen to me :D It's pretty straight forward though and no need to panic :)

United KingdomDocuments needed for interview
If it helps I had my interview yesterday.

When I was called to the first window they took my birth certificate and copy, police certificate and copy, 2 US Sized passport photos, Affidavit of support(original), my fiances tax transcripts and W2s, passport and MRV receipt.

I bought with me copies of all the documents I sent in to the embassy and a few forms of evidence of our on going relationship but none of this was asked from me.

United KingdomUK Baby Passport - US Citizen Father British Mother

The hubby is a US citizen so it should not be a problem for him to stay out for 3+ years

Additionally, we leave for the UK, I should receive my naturalization certificate (fingers crossed) so it should be all fine

Thanks for all your help - I greatly appreciate it!

As your hubby is a US Citizen, its not a problem for him to stay out of the US for 3+ years but is he allowed to STAY IN the UK for that amount of time. If the proper documents/route hasn't been taken by either yourself or your company then you may find that your hubby will have to leave and go back to the US while you stay behind and work. If you receive your naturalization certificate, being a UK Born Citizen you will be fine for both countries I believe but he may not.

United KingdomLondon Embassy- Time from Medical to Interview

Keep calling State Department at least once a week to find interview date so it is not missed by a missing packet 4 letter.

good.gif call them as many people do not receive their packet 4 letter until after the scheduled interview. Mine was about a 4 weeks from my medical to my interview but I did have the Xmas holidays and a vacation to NZ booked in between. Some people get sooner interviews some about 4-6 weeks.

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Hi,

My interview is on the 12th. Today I realised that my fiancee misspelt the name of my road on the first page of the I-134. It's the tiniest of mistakes, it ends in two ts while she only put one. If there was time I think I would just get her to send me a correct one but as there isn't I'm not sure what the best way to correct it is. The page that is wrong isn't the page that needs to be signed so I'm thinking that she could fill it out correctly and then email me the pdf and I could print it out here. But then the first page will be in A4 and the second page will be American sized, so it will be obvious that I printed it and I don't know if there would be an issue if the first page was printed after and independently of the signed second page.

Any advice would be great. Thanks

Why don't you just add the second "T" in yourself? Even if the whole thing is typed whose to know who added in the extra "T" in pen?
If its just one letter I would just correct it myself. Its one letter of the alphabet on a form where the original signature is the most important thing.

Thats just my idea though.

Of that list take a photocopy of any of the documents you need back like the birth certificate, police certificate, and maybe the tax transcript if it's the original. We got the original police certificate back, but I've heard others say they didn't, even when they provided a photocopy. Not that it's ever been needed again.

No problem. Got that covered as well. I have X2 photocopy of not only everything I sent in but everything i'm taking with me just in case.
At least I know I've got everything though :D

Thank you everything especially you Nich-Nick. I would have never gotten this far without you :)

Secondly, on form DS-156: for question 14 it asks for national identification number. Is this my national insurance number that is on my payslips etc? I know the VJ example says to put 'none' but wanted to check in the UK forums specifically as their example is for an Italian.

Lastly, on form DS-156k it says that certain documents such as birth certificate, evidence of financial support etc "must be attached" - I haven't read about anyone sending these documents with the packet 3 but the way the form is worded has confused me. Am I right in thinking that the officer actually attaches the documents at the interview and you don't send them back with these forms.. ?

Hi,

I cant help with question one but I asked the same question for question 2. We dont have a National Identification number and no it is not the same as our national insurance numbers. Im sure someone else can clarify if im wrong but I didnt put anything down.

I didn't attach any forms..i think that's for the officer, if not....oops :)

OMG OMG OMG!!!! I got an interview date!!!!

As I just posted my post a minute ago I checked my email once more and I had this response from the Embassy to my email back to them this afternoon:

"Thank you for your email. The required forms in your case were received and registered on December 20th 2012. An interview has been scheduled for you on 29th January at ####. Written notification of this date and time has been sent to you."

So I guess the email option has worked for me so keep pestering them everyone.

Congratulations :D

The embassy/extortion number is a call center in Scotland and not at the actual embassy. If you want to contact the embassy, you have to email them, but they require a specific code (available via the embassy/extortion number) or else the email gets deleted.

Do you have the extortion number by any chance?? It seems myself and Lewis F are in similar situations.

If everything's logged, then you should -- on average -- receive an interview date within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks LCL.

Just wondering if anyone thinks its worth me calling the extortion line?? My medical was on the 21st Dec and I sent all forms in around the same time. DOS have confirmed that all forms and my medical has been logged but on my cover letter I stated that our planned wedding date is the 30th March 2013 and that I ideally wanted to be in the US for my fiances homecoming from Afghan. This is at the beginning of March but I still have 4 weeks notice to give at work! On top of this we have our friends wedding to attend to (in AZ) once all the boys are back. He is best man and I am suppose to be a bridesmaid!!!

I don't think I'm going to make any of it :( even my own wedding! I asked for interview dates if possible between the 17th Jan and the 5th Feb. If I don't make these dates I wont be entering the states on time :(

Looks like its back to panic mode after 3 relaxing weeks in NZ!

No signature required. Don't sign the one with the oath at the bottom either. DS-156K? (sorry, need my coffee). It is signed in front of the officer at the interview. Did you read the ones that you must send two of? And make photocopies of all just for your records and in case they should lose them?

Just checking, thought it was a bit strange. I havent signed the DS-156K either.

I will be making copies before I head downstairs to dispatch but I have:

  • Cover Letter
  • DS-2001
  • DS-230
  • DS-156 x2
  • DS-157 x2
  • DS-156K

The only thing im worried about is, I still haven't received anything from the London Embassy. I have spoken to the DoS and they have confirmed it was sent to London and that they received the electronic copy but not the hard copy. I wanted to send it all first class and the guy who works in dispatch said I should send it pretty soon with all the Christmas post etc but is today too soon :( I just want to send it all off so after my medical they can start looking over things while im on vacation! Saying that...do I even know the address to send it to lol...

Is it the 5 Upper Grosvenor Street one??

You can, it's been done, but I would check with NVC to ask the date it went to London. There have been times that files have been held up at NVC for 30 days instead of 3. NVC 603-334-0700

Then I would call DOS and ask if the case has been logged in at London. If so, mail away. If not I would wait until they confirm, or mail on your medical date since you are going away and want to get it in before your holiday. DOS 202-663-1225 press 1, then 0

I would pay after you get the interview appointment letter. Paying early doesn't speed up getting an interview. Just pay before the interview so you have the emailed receipt to present on the day.

I'm sending all the forms today but just realized I haven't signed Form DS-157 as there is no place to sign...do I just sign at the bottom "/

Yes, and depending on when it was sent, you can track it via DHL. Also, when you call the NVC, you'll need to give them your USCIS case number (EAC### or WAC###).

Well NVC received my case over a week ago now (8 days) and I'm lunch in 5 minutes so I will call the NVC and quote my EAC number and check if it has been sent to London and if it has then I will call DoS and see if it has been logged. If it has been logged then I'll send the forms, if not il send it all on the day of my medical. Thats my plan, lets hope it goes alright!
