Yes I did send it to that address, there is no way Boston was written on that and yes I am reading that it was delivered to Boston.

fedex or USPS or who?

good thing you got a tracking number i would be on the horn right now with the shipping company to get it delivered to the right place..

Just an update, our IV supporting documents were delivered today and signed for by Mun M. I was just concerned that the destination service area and the delivery made was in Boston. I am not very good with geography but I swear I did not put Boston in the address.

Can someone enlighten me on this one please?

Thank you.

What address did you send to????  delivery made in Boston??  are you reading the tracking information correctly, maybe it just "passed thru " Boston?

SOME days I just can not concentrate on t=other things because my mind is FULL of worry and concern for this situation- and as much as I try to calm down and accept the things that are out of my control--  it is a great challenge.

Can someone please help or advice me, I asked this question before but it was left unanswered. :(

I just called NVC and asked them if applying for financial aid for college would affect my husband's visa process the lady on the phone said "Oh I don't know." I know NVC reviews the affidavit of support I-864 and so does the consulate overseas. Who should I call now, either NVC again and talk to someone else or consulate overseas. I asked this same question on this lawyer website they all said it was ok if I met the requirements of the I-864, which our income is a little above the poverty line. I asked fafsa (financial aid) they also said they don't know, its not a problem with them. I need a approval from the visa agency. I already sent the aos package and it didn't mention any financial aid for college. Would they (NVC or US consulate overseas) happen to know if I applied? Like look up some US government database. I really need to make sure about everything because I'm tired of waiting for this loooong process.

I think they are two completely different qualifications and one does not effect the other-- if you have enough income to qualify for an affidavit of support then you qualify and if your income is low enough to qualify for financial aid for your tuition then you qualify- I dont think that because you accepted financial aid it would effect your affidavit of support- it is based solely on your income.  not your debt, or your obligations other than dependents ie.

Just hang up the call and they said they have not reviewed my civics package (scanned on May 06) and allow them 30 business day

And the check list is because the system sent automatically. I always received the email from NVC around 1-2Pm (PST).

Hope I got the correct answer. I will call back tomorrow.

My IV docs scanned the same day as yours- and I got the same answer today too-

Any ideas/similar experiences??

Is form 4868 enough as proof of extension for the year 2013 Tax returns?

I believe so, depending on your individual case it may vary but I would also attach documentation where you have paid your taxes when you filed your extension, maybe even evidence of delivery or a tracking #, and also documentation of your current income.  on your AOS, if you filed an extension for 13 then 13-14 would be current income and last three years would be 12,11,10, or at least thats what I believe to be the way that would go.

There's a section about tax information in Saylin's NVC Process Wiki that states "Up until April 14th (tax deadline), you can still use 2012 as the most recent year." We sent our AOS package a week after this date so should have been using 2013 as the most recent year not 2012.

I've now spoken to NVC about my checklist and they told me the part asking for the civil documents could be false as they are showing my IV package as still being under review. It just seems confusing, as in Saylin's Wiki it states if they ask for the entire package its a false checklist but if they ask for something specific like the Police Certificate its real. Well they did ask for the Police Certificate, and my Birth Certificate, and copy of my passport. But not the photographs or Marriage Certificate. So does this count as most of the package or specific items?

I don't think that statement is entirely accurate, but when I know instead of thinking I will follow up.

for example, some people file an extension- and taxes are paid but not filed until a later date, so 2013 would be current income (with documentation of course)

again, I am a student in this process but will follow up.

Well its Memorial Day weekend, it was the Easter Holiday that delayed me being able to pay my fees, now its another holiday that postpones progress.  I like most people in this forum are just tired of waiting.  It is stressful.

TODAY I choose to be grateful, thankful for what I have.  This will help me get through these final days, weeks or even months (hope not)--

I am grateful for being where I am, I am grateful for having the people in my life that I have.  I am grateful to be so much closer to closure than I was when I was forced to make the difficult decision to return to the USA - at that time I had no basis for completing an AOS, I didn't have anyone that I would even consider asking to be my co- sponsor, I had to come out of my semi-retirement and get a real job again.  The Mortgage meltdown, melted down my financial independence.  I had to change gears, LITTLE did I know about immigration laws, NEVER did I think it would be years, I thought it would be months at most.

again, I am in such a better place now, this is all behind me I know we are not YEARS away from being a family again, so I am grateful.

I suggest in these difficult times when we are in a holiday weekend and everything comes to a screeching halt, instead of being angry and upset (that's easy to do)- count your blessings, we are all one day closer to being past this difficult time.

thanks for letting me rant --

Was unfortunate enough to receive a checklist today. But I'm slightly confused as it seems to be a combination of a 'real' checklist and a 'false' one. Has anyone else received one like this?

It asks specifically for us to submit 2013 tax info as we had submitted 2012 info as the most recent year. Looks like we missed the cut off point by a week! Oh well, hopefully we can get this sent off to them quickly and the delay wont be too long.

The confusing part is the checklist also asks for me to submit a copy of my passport, my birth certificate, and police certificate all which I have already sent as part of my IV package. They already have these documents!

So whereas the tax part of the checklist is real and obviously needs action on my part, the civil documents they're asking me to submit falls into the 'false' checklist category we are all familiar with. I'm aware of the difference between the real and false checklists but I've not heard of anyone receiving one that seems to be both at the same time!

Has anyone seen this before? Any advice?

What do you mean missed the cutoff by a week?  I dont understand what you are quoting there.  Tax season?  who told you that?

Hey guys - I got 2 checklist today through email but they look exactly the same.  Sent about 10 mins apart from each other and it asks:

______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________

The National Visa Center received your DS-260 form. We are waiting for the traveling applicant?s supporting civil documents to be submitted to the NVC. Your online Immigrant Visa Application will be reviewed upon receipt of your supporting documentation.

To view which documents the applicant must submit to the NVC, please go to our website immigrantvisas.state.gov.

Is this a false or real checklist?  Because I've called NVC and they've confirmed that they have received both packages.  What should I do?

Thanks!

Looks like a false checklist, not asking for anything specific. in general waiting on revue of civil documents-

Yes, on the page where you enter all of the info to search for a flight using miles, just select one way instead of round trip at the top where it says "what type of trip do you want to take?".

I'm sure you could just show them your other one way ticket that you purchase with money. Let them know that you had to purchase it separately.

Done that many times into CR.  I used to not know exactly when I was going to leave or how- or even from where when I went to Central America.  I used to buy a FULL PRICE one way return ticket that I could cancel.  they do want to see your return flight- I would show them that ticket and then promptly cancel it--  until I knew how I would be leaving--  point is you can use two one way tickets.

Here is a thought...  The package I sent in with my I-130 to USCIS, that package was sent to the NVC correct?

and then the NVC sends your packet to the EMBASSY for interview.

Do you get ALL your documents back INCLUDING what you sent in to the USCIS?

Does Anyone in this forum know from past experience how that goes?

This is painfully slow,  I been calling every day now HOPING for some advancement.....

On May 6th - they signed for my IV docs, been waiting for them to get reviewed.

My AOS for my secondary case (daughter) was missing the supporting documents (dOP!) - I knew to attach to AOS , but who would have thunk that I needed two copies of my pay stubs, two copies of my employment letter, two copies of my tax return from last year, two copies of the transcript, two copies of everything (120 pages in all)-- well I didn't- but I sent them out the same day I got the checklist- keep in mind the AOS was approved for my primary case.. (wife)--

they signed for that on 5/19th and it was scanned in today-- 5/22nd...  just waiting and waiting...  I think it was easier when I knew I was MONTHS away--

appreciate the whining pole for the moment..

no luck today... looks like a long holiday weekend for me- good thing I am working every day..

I waited for my Cover sheets- and I also got a checklist on my AOS- although my AOS passed for the primary case--  my second case did not have copies of the supporting documents because I didnt make TWO COPIES of everything...  I am still waiting on my IV docs to be reviewed also---

Now all I picture is agents running to the bins and grabbing a handful of envelopes and running back to their desks, dropping marriage certificates and police records along the way...  Not cool lol

I actually think the NVC does a pretty good job, -- we all enter into their "track" after waiting an enormous amount of time with apparently no progress while we wait for the USCIS to approve our petition.  We kind of have a bad taste in our mouth as we walk in...

But once the NVC center gets it- things move pretty quickly, I know there is always room for improvement and I have seen some posts that "feel" like personal attacks - not this one by the way- I did a little searching on line and I found out that the NVC has some pretty strict work schedules, I cut and past a few of the "disgruntled" employees and keep in mind that these are disgruntled employees and the happy and successful employees usually do not verbalize  their feelings.  (like restaurant reviews)--

I found this interesting-- - and I cant wait for this to be behind me...  I hope someone figures out how to fix this situation -- our TRIP through the visa process is a short time in comparison to people who work in it for year after year..

You get treated like your still in junior high school, if not worse.
It doesn't matter if you do your job effectively and efficiently.
Management wants to nitpick and only talks to you when they want to
gripe about something that correlates to treatment you received in
school. Some times you have to just laugh it off and joke with others
to keep your sanity. Everybody seems too when it is break. Management
and team leaders aren't held to the same standards- womanizing,
settling sexual harassment suits while others get fired due to
downsizing or barely missing quota, clowning around, etc... Yet go and
talk to someone on company time for 15 seconds when your surpassing
quota and quality expectations, leave for the bathroom too long....
and off to the principal's office you go!
The benefits and compensation have even diminished. Layoffs abound.
Quality of work only matters when the work dries up at the same annual
segments of the year. Then your on the hook. The hypocrisy is just
amazing. The government is to blame due to the overspending in recent
years why the company is so cheap. But the company is more to blame
for some of the aforementioned things that plague the NVC's work
environment. It is funny to hear the management spout on about doing
this and that to retain the contract, when in reality all the
employees always talk earnestly about wanting the contract to go
bye-bye, as the management would be the first to go

If you wondered where the people from Walmart work - they work at the
National Visa Center in Portsmouth NH. The 'NVC' is a one story
warehouse with a few offices around the inner circle of the building.
The outer perimeter is where the downtrodden staff and low level
supervisors nest. Most of this dank warehouse houses a factory filled
with dirty crates of endless applications from all over the world from
desperate people who want to come to America. There are a few 'suits'
in here but the rest of this dismal hellhole is filled with people
with vacant stares who are just putting in their time and can't wait
to punch out. The manager of the case processing unit looks like an
old bar slinger from way back. Her office was a filthy mess and she
calls staff in there on a regular basis to criticize and demean them.
I can't believe the government knows what is actually going on here.
Visitors from out in the world do come here on occasion, but they are
kept away from the grim reality of this place, and are holed up in the
board room watching propaganda videos where the 'suits' make speeches
about what a fabulous place this is to work. I had heard the nightmare
stories but had to learn it for myself. The NVC is a soul destroyer.

I worked there for 3 years and it was the most depressing time of my
life. I was an awesome worker there but yet lousy workers always got
promotions and not the ones working hard. The managers treat you like
garbage and if they can save a dollar by firing someone who has worked
there 15 years or 1 year they will, I have seen this happen plenty of
times. I urge people not to work at this place as it really can make
your life miserable

I would like to say thank you to the people who have helped me along the way, not only the people I have met here at VJ, but also anyone and everyone who has moved my case along---  I do not know if I will ever understand the 7 month WAIT at the USCIS, and WHY -- my wife can not come visit me here in the USA while we process her application--  but as I said, my limited exposure to this system even as personal as it is- is small in comparison and I am sure there are reasons for things that we do not understand or are to emotionally involved to comprehend.

THAT SAID---

PLEASE get me out of here!!!!  lol

frank

I called last night and received the same statement. I tracked our package and it showed that it was delivered on the 12th but they did not scan it in until the 15th. So in your case, you would count two weeks after the 14th because that was when it was entered into their system :)

Whats the two week count?  my IV documetns were received according to them on May 6th --  spoke to them today and they say still not reviewed--  that is the LAST thing for me to accomplish --  they tell me "up to" 30 days- where are you quoting two weeks from- I know it probably will not be 30 days abd two weeks sounds great to me...

Merci!  Long journey almost done, we started the process in July last year and it looks like an early July interview from what I can guess, so nearly a year in total. The immigration lawyer had told us initially 8 months!

I was told 6 to 7 months by an attorney- they also told me $7,000.00

Normal case without special circumstances --- just glad I found the information provided on this website-- As sure as I am sitting here I know that if the lawyer was doing this FOR ME- he wouldn't care a tenth as much and would end up taking MORE time than what I did it in myself- for a small fraction of the costs.

he wanted ALL $7,ooo up front- in the bank-- no wonder.  It only motivated me to do this myself--  NOW I feel I could give classes on it.....  and I look forward to being in the position to help someone some day with their case.

Sorry, I do not know the answer for this as we are doing Electronic Processing. You may want to read Saylin's 1st posting in this thread.

Not to sound facetious,  Your answer to my question is that you don't know?

For the record, I have read ALL the advice, from the official websites of the State Department, Saylins advice here, and more--  a dozen times or more.

The specific question I am asking is NOT about logistics, time frames, or even requirements and AFTER actual reading that very helpful and insightful information the ATTENTION TO question that I am asking not been addressed in any of the "how to" posts.

Again my question is if anyone knows the difference between CMR and DR.  that's all.

You may want to re-send corrected barcode sheet again and do not wait for checklist as it may delay the process.

I have a question on cover sheets;  specifically the ATTENTION TO-

the AOS had attention to CMR AOS

the IV package had attention CMR

on the checklist I had the cover page said attention DR

what is CMR and what is DR

any knowledge of that--

obviously the attention to determines the track it runs on and HOPING that checklists dont just get put back of the line. already waited once..

Hello NVC May filers.  I just got NoA2 yesterday after 22 days! (Filing from overseas)  So, I am going to be filing NVC stuff this month.  I have already begun gathering most of the documents and filling out as much of the forms that I can.  This thread is pretty long so I don?t know if I will have time to read the whole thing (or at least not right away) but I will try to keep up to date on what is going on.  I may also have some questions later on so thanks in advance for any help that any of you can provide.

Also, I know there is some kind of spreadsheet that has been made keeping track of people?s cases.  You have my permission to add my information to it if you would like.

Good luck everyone with your filing!

Saylin requires that you contact her via the link- (see first postby her)- click on the link and put the info and she will add you- also update progress the same way-

welcome aboard-

Here is a lesson for all that follow- NOW I feel like I should have known- but I didn't.

soo I got a checklist.

My case is TWO cases actually- one for my wife and one for my stepdaughter --  as you may already know...

AS we all know only ONE FEE for AOS, but you must file TWO seperate AOS one for each case- and I knew that too...

What I didn't know and SHOULD have known was that you can NOT just attach ONE copy of your evidence of income, you must make two copies of the evidence and attach one copy to each AOS, even though you send them in togethor and they all fall under one fee-

in my case my AOS for my wife was reviewed and accepted, but my daughters AOS got a checklist, becasue the evidence was not there..

its TOTALLY LOGICAL.. and NOW I FEEL stupid,  in my case the evidence of income was about 60 or 70 pages long- and I naively only included ONE copy.

live and learn- minor setback--  very emotional roller coaster.  NOW i believe I am a JULY interview I was holding out for June until today.

I just had a funny thought...  Having lived in Honduras and built a home there, and processed my own residency while I lived there, got married there, had a child there, had some surgery there, traveled through out Honduras and surrounding countries - etc etc- I know that GETTING THINGS DONE in Honduras sometimes is a gamble.....

I am thinking about the actual interview day now- the Embassy is run by the US State department, so I should not have to "factor in" the Honduran factor....

made me chuckle to myself......  I am hoping sooooooo much to RETURN within a few days of the interview WITH my family---  God willing.

but for the passport picture, my husband sent them over email, so i don't have them as a physical copy

My wife had more recent pictures taken too and emailed them to me- I took the electronic file and went to a local service and had passport photos made- I also used an online service for passport photos in the past-- it was a little less expensive- but I am pretty sure you MUST have actual passport photos- - I do not believe they will accept it printed out onto plain paper in word or a *pdf file.  or at least I would not take the chance on that being an issue--  are you state side?  any drugstore photo store can give you passport photos from an electronic file just put it on a flash drive-

I've been thinking this as I followed this thread lately, too. There's so much negativity here recently and much of it comes from obsessive phone calls with long wait times and less-than-charming operators. I don't personally understand why multiple calls per day is a good use of time, simply because knowing a status for example 6 hours sooner than you might've won't make any difference to your case processing. Obviously it's a personal decision, but I feel bad for everyone involved -- both on our end and NVC's. This isn't pleasant for anyone.

I know NVC is staffed by call center personnel who are paid to provide customer service, but they aren't government employees. I can't imagine they have rock star salaries and they probably get treated like garbage all day. Hasn't anyone on this thread worked in customer service? Even if the job tasks are easy, it's challenging dealing with people all day. It's exhausting and frustrating. They're humans and imperfect just like the rest of us. They're also not responsible for the case processing decisions (i.e., reviews and checklists) driving everyone insane. I've spoken to all the operators who have been named here and have never had a bad experience, so to see them essentially being bullied in absentia is a little unsettling. I kind of wish I'd had a bad experience at some point just so I could know where all the negative comments have come from. They're paid to do their jobs to certain expectations, yes, but I personally feel a responsibility to be a good customer to the people serving me. I've never felt someone being nasty to me was justification for being unpleasant in return, though I'm keenly aware that others will feel differently. Perhaps if folks made fewer superfluous phone calls, the operators would be less overwhelmed, their quality of life would improve, they would be happier while serving their customers, and hold times would go down.

I know VJ is an awesome place to vent and commiserate. I'm really thankful for that, and that's why I hesitated to volunteer my own unpopular opinion above. I just wanted to maybe add some perspective, because I feel things have become a bit more hostile than usual. I really wish all the best for everyone waiting here. I know the hell we've all gone through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I hope all of you get the news you're waiting for soon.

well said.  thank you

when was your package scanned?. Your timeline says it was delivered the 5th.  Was is scanned on the 8th?

I believe it is a false checklist for my AOS which was scanned on 4/24th--  It is asking for ALL civil documents which were scanned on the 6th.

I completely agree. I have been miserable the past couple of weeks and this past weekend I made a vow to just take a step back and allow things to just happen. I called Monday because I wanted to make sure my IV package had been accepted (I was terrified that it wouldn't be) and then unexpectedly called yesterday because I received a Greek Checklist (seriously?). Now I will just wait until Friday to call them again.

Meanwhile, I will work on getting the house ready for my man and I will work on being happy and normal again.

I third that agreement, tired of the angst, calling twice a week seems excessive to me, BUT I dont want to waste any days so I am following that pattern, and preparing our home for my family, every day when I see something I know my wife will like, I think wont it be great to come back here with my family....  then back to the waiting game.

the end is near!!! keep the faith!!!

The cover page was available the moment we paid the fee... we didn't have to wait.

We did send our documents as soon as we paid even though our fees hadn't yet cleared the bank or showed up as paid on the CEAC site.

HORRRRRAAAAAAAYYYYYYY

ok, I am sure it was my error but I could not print until after it was showing paid- but I am or was most likely at fault for that.. thanks fd

You know, you could write letters, old fashioned letters to each other, make a little detail about the day....after this is over you'll have a lovely collection of love letters, and you can save them and read them over and over.

Real paper is something you can hold in your hands, and smell, and feel. It's a beautiful thing, a letter....  :)
