I've been checking into things for hubby. It seems as though you can't do much without it. Ie: bank acct, drivers license, ect. You can't do anything here without ID and you can't get an ID without the GC. Thanks again for thinking of us! He'll be here in less than 2 weeks!!! So happy!!!!!! I'm sorry for taking so long to answer. We ticked the box that said "Would you like a Social Security Card" on one of the forms (the Affidavit of Support form, maybe...gosh, you'd think I'd remember) and that took care of it, but if you didn't remember or check that box, all you have to do is go down to the Social Security Administration office in your city or area, and wait in line, and the person behind the desk will want to see his passport and CR-1 visa. Then they'll take care of it and he'll get the SS card sent to your home address in a couple of weeks.   Now we're working on the drivers' license. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - April 2014	my 260 fees showed PAID at 6 am today- so I submitted BOTH wife and daughter by 830 am- today 4/29!!!   i have the IV package just sitting here waiting on that darn police report (original) - i have a copy-   YESTERDAY some friends flew up from Honduras and are overniting to me - I am expecting the original tomorrow in my mailbox!!   then just waiting for CASE COmplete - or the dreaded checklist- didnt even want to say it...  positive VIBES!!   this step is sooooooo much better than the USCIS- sit and wait game.. wait for months and months. with no news..  this is weekly activity now!!  feel like I am accomplishing somethig FINALLY!! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - April 2014	I call that $165 the Immigrant Extortion Fee :-D   and when you LEAVE Honduras (specifically) you pay another EXIT TAX - of $60 or $70 dollars-- no fee to enter just a fee to leave!! lol--   you think with all these applications and all these fees they could afford to hire people necessary to handle the workload- but I am sure $$ gets siphoned off for other govnmt programs..   All said and done after a while the FEES are of no meaning or consequence so frustrated with everything else just happy to PAY and move on..   Will even PAY FULL PRICE for airline ticket becasue we cant PLAN AHEAD..   yikes!! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - April 2014	Wait until you pay the AOS fee. The cover page with the barcode is generated when you pay. I would also wait until the money is debited from your account or you see it pending from your account so you know there are no errors with the payment.   I have paid my AOS fees and sent of my AOS with the cover page- been waiting for the IV application fees to be available- and it actually said NOT AVAILABLE - but today it changed to PAY with a YIELD sign and when I click on PAY it does not offer me a SELECT box--   I am sure this is normal- maybe it will be available tomorrow?  MY timing is working out pretty well- after I got my case number I had my wife get a NEW police report-- I know I need to send the original police report in with the IV package (along with everything else)--  well she got the police report and it is THIS MONDAY that we found a friend traveling to the USA and they will bring it to me this MONDAY- --  sounds like perfect timing--  I am sure that everyone here prepares as much as I did- when my AOS cover sheet was available I had my package already to go- and within 24 hours it was at the NVC--   I am so tired of waiting-- I also called back my congressman to do another inquiry and see if I cant get expedited through the NVC-  when I had to leave my family and get e REAL JOB again- our daughter was just 5 months old - although we see each other almost every day on SKYPE- it is NOT normal -- my daughter is now 2 years and  10 months old--    We did make some mistakes - in the beginning but I would not have qualified as a sponsor-- right away--  I am not sure if we could have gotten this done faster-- it has been a very long road - and I am so ready to END THIS--  I WILL be going to the interview to make sure that there is no hangups- - now I am just venting--  and this little yield sign on the pay portal is the object of my OBSESSION with getting this complete. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - April 2014	Just now - I was checking the payment portal to see if the YIELD sign had gone away.  I only check it about 6 or 8 times a day..  it was still there.  MY QUESTION IS THIS.  I have TWO applications one for my wife and one for my step-daughter and I just read on the payment portal and I quote;   " If you cannot pay fees online you must follow alternate payment instructions. Please note that the case cannot be processed further until the principal applicant's immigrant visa application processing fee has been paid. The fees for other applicants may be paid later but must be paid before they can receive a visa."   When they say fees for the OTHER applicants may be paid later- but must be paid before they can recieve a visa--  This is news to me, I thought I had to pay both and I probbaly still will - but I just wanted to know if anyone had any experrience in this area- when is LATER?  and does that prolong the process even further?  or would it simply be at the interview you can pay the additional fee for our daughter?  she is a minor child--  our other daughter already has her USA passport and DUAL citizenship so that is not even a concern..  I am HOPING and PRAYING that our interview will be in JUNE and this NIGHTMARE will be over.   I want to say that I want to do whatever it is that makes this process faster - not slower- I was under the impression that we had no choice on when to pay our daughters fee- --  and it is not an issue actually - just a question. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - April 2014	I will be very interested in the "cut-off" for 2013 tax data on the I-864.  NVC received my AOS packet on April 10, but didn't scan it in until April 15.  I'm pretty sure I'll have to come up with my 2013 return/transcript, but don't know whether I'll get a checklist for it, or whether my spouse will have to hand-carry a copy to her interview.   I filed a paper copy of my 2013 return, and the IRS won't even tell you where it is in process until 4 weeks AFTER you mailed it in.  I tried to check on it today using "Where's My Refund", but when I chose the "paper" option, the screen told me I had to wait.   *IF* I have to mail a copy of my tax return (transcripts for paper files are estimated to take 8 weeks to come online), do I really have to write our case number on each page?  My tax return is complicated - it's 80 pages long, and I have about 40 pages of 1099 data.  The return is too big to staple together, so my only choice is to put a binder clip on the pages.  Of course, my return has my name and Social Security Number on each page.  Do you think I can get away with putting the case number on the 1040 pages, and then staple the 1099s together and put the case number on the first page of that?   Also - will the NVC just ask for my tax return, or will I have to fill out a brand new I-864  with 2011, 2012 and 2013 data and sign it?     GREAT questions-- I am sending my AOS in this week also- I used my 2012, 2011, 2010 for three previous years and filed 2013 as my CURRENT income- I have not filed yet- I have filed for an extension- I included the last 6 months paycheck stubs and a job letter.  I am hoping and praying that I do not have to file for 2013 for them to approve it- for several reasons--  which is another subject--  I think if you sent a copy of your tax return they will automatically request a transcript- therefore I just filed an extension at  this point--  withheld my w2 form --  I am not sure if anyone knows the absolute answer because I think it will depend on who is looking at it.. How?   I left Honduras --- for financial reasons, not because I wanted to.  I dont have anyone who I would even consider to be a sponsor--  when I left I thought it would be just months before we would see each other- I thought WHILE I reestablished myself financially she could come visit--   I did not know the laws--  after I got established - I applied--   its not three years it is 2 years 5 months and 28 days.   we applied for two visitation visas and was TURNED DOWN--   count YOUR blessings...   Also when I left-- our farm was in a part of Honduras that did NOT have internet-- for the first 6 months I could only call her cell phone at 40 cents a minute...  we were fortunate enough to get internet access and able to speak on SKYPE as we have every day since-- I have spoken to my wife and daughters every day on the phone sometimes for a few hours / with VIDEO - if the connection is strong enough--   We did this on our own--  My parents are both deceased- I have no brothers and sisters -- I was invested in Mortgages...  ?@!?!! --  like I said count your blessings- How long have you been apart?--  I missed my daughters first and second birthday--  she will be three on July 11th - and SHE COULD COME anytime without her mother and sister-- ?? thats the laws...  like I said something has to change-- but as soon as I am through this- like everyine in the past- I will want to forget it and will forget about it.  I am NOT an activist.  just following THEIR procedures..-- I had many long conversations with the consular officer after they denied my wifes visitation in 2012 and that is when I learned the reality of the situation-   Thank GOD my wife is as strong as I am- you have no idea how difficult this has been on all of us--  been through robberies, stalkers, disgruntled employees, lawsuits, car accidents, family illness, and we remain a family. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	Probably best to wait for your daughter's case complete and use that as your case complete date for your line.   You do it the way you want to--  THANK YOU for all that you do, do....   My only wish is that SOMEONE avoids the same mistake as I did-- in the future because I made the mistake...   MAYBE, it would best represent the situation when you do have two cases to have two lines-- because in actuality my spouse case NEVER got a checklist and was completed from 4/11 to 5/29 - 48 days-- but my other case got a checklist and will take longer--    its really splitting hairs- I JUST WANT TO MOVE ON--- can you tell??   again thanks for all your help you and NLR and anyone and everyone who contributes positive input here--  I KNEW NOTHING about immigration laws two or three years into my marriage-- after children...  I wasted a few months trying to get my wife to the USA on a tourist visa-- not understanding the ins and outs---  We were NOT trying to cut corners or MIS- represent anything she would have honored the limitations of that VISA-- but they said ABSOLUTELY NOT-- and I think that is a problem in the system-- I believe to the bottom of my heart that if you have a pending I130 application that you should be allowed to visit with your spouse- and ANY VISA abuse should NEGATIVELY effect your application-- it seems almost CRUEL that I am seperated from my wife and daughters now 900+ days.. working through this---- that said-- I am looking forward and hopefully 45 days away from being DONE with this--forever.....   Cant say enough for those who stay here and help and answer questions- I am not sure I will be that committed--once I am out the other side- we shall see---  its a DAMN SHAME some attorney wanted to charge me $7000 to do this--  only happy I did not fall for that...   THE BEST ADVICE I ever got was right here at this website... IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	Does it really takes 4 to 5 weeks for NVC to receive case from Nebraska?   it takes about a week for them to get it--- and then about 4 weeks to assign a case number--   your question is a little general--RECEIVE - or give a case # is a two step process- and that two step process takes 4- to 5 weeks --   after you get case number assigned the current average to get through the NVC process is 50 some odd days--   and then about another 30 days to get an interview scheduled -- so FROM today if they sent your case to the NVC you are looking at an interview "around"--- 17 weeks from now..  maybe faster maybe slower.. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	GOOD NEWS - BAD NEWS-- just frustrating-   I have two cases-- Wife / Step/daughter.   When I sent in my AOS, I knew enough to send in two separate AOS(s)--  I sent them in the same envelope under the ONE Cover page after paying the AOS fee--   WHAT I DIDNT DO- was attache TWO COPIES of my income documents- so this is what happened my WIFES AOS was approved without a checklist and sent on-- they seperated my step / daughters AOS from the package and didnt attache any supporting documents so they had NO EVIDENCE-- I IMMEDIATELY sent in a second copy and it was scanned on May 22nd--   WELL TODAY I called like every other day-- and I was told CASE ONE - COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ALL DONE EVERYTHING -- BUT they are HOLDING THE case for my step / daughters case to catch up now--   so case one complete-- but still stuck..  how about that!!! After they scan is there will be any online update saying scann package?   It takes a few days-- maybe as long as a week.  When you call and they say that we received mail on XX/XX that is the day it was scanned- and from that date they tell you it could be UP TO 30 business days from then BUT it is running about 25-30 calender days from what I have seen and heard.--  they dont use the term scanned-- they just say "I see we received mail on.." IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	Yes, they absolutely keep a log. I talked to Jean again today. She told me a supervisor review was placed on May 1st. I told her it was her that placed the request.  She said I dont' remember that.. then looke dback and said " oh yea, that WAS me" and laughed.   They know how much you call. I guess they think by telling us the 30 day ####### will stop the calls or make them less frequent...  HA HA  not a chance...  Our calls give them job security.  HA  HA   I know the calls don't speed anything up or slow it down HOWEVER, if something happens with my case , I want to know ASAP.      I will not wait for an email. and btw, I never received an email with a case number and invoice number. I got my numbers by calling.   I only received an email when my invoices were ready to pay and for the checklist.  And then 3 reminders for the checklist. and a reply to an email I sent on May 1st.  The incorrect one and the correct one.   I wouldn't trust them to send out emails for every step.  Unless you have all the time in the world, I would suggest calling every single day.   That's what we paid the fees for.... I'm not sure how the prices compare to other websites because I haven't don't much research for hotels.   here's the link, in case people want to look through it: https://www.google.com/hotels/     SPIRIT air and Southwest Air are much better prices for my destinations and they are not on Google, you got to go direct but NOBODY comes close to Spirits price to Honduras, especially if you join the 9$ fare club which pays for itself on the first flight...  Airfare in general has jumped quite a bit in the last two years...  sadly. Let's go    you believe they keep a record of your calls into them?  or just Supervisory reviews?  I have always gotten the impression they had no idea when the last time I called was---   I have never gotten the feeling that anything was personal.  just reading what they see on the screen, I also think that calling does NOT speed anything up- I have had my congressman make several inquiries over the course of this process and dont feel it helped or hurt at all--   it is what it is- and will be done when its done, sometimes I want to resist the urge of calling and just wait for the email-- but I just cant help myself from calling in and asking, I usually just ask, "whats next"? IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	I was digging around yesterday and found that the government made an award to the contractor that staffs NVC, Serco, for additional services this spring. Whether that means they're increasing staff, paying for OT, or something else entirely, I don't know... but they're throwing more money at the people who are taking our calls.   Edit: in case anyone wants to see, that award info is here. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	After send to NVC AOS and IV packet,how often do I need to call NVC to check if any checklist?   That is up to you but I wouldnt call at all for the first 2 to 3 weeks maybe twice the third week and then maybe every other day going into the fourth week and then every day - until you get information--  they are running 3 plus weeks so the first few weeks would just be for your own satisfaction.  again this advice varies much on different opinions.. Is it ok to sign at the bottom of the letter as Petitioner and provide my contact info. Or do I have to provide my husband's contact info, who's the beneficiary.
