IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - September 2014

I got a couple of checklists on the Affadavit of Support form too, and I read it and re-read it before filling it out. If the NVC is getting so many forms submitted with the wrong information, obviously the directions on the form need a bit of re-tooling.

You'd think they'd make the form easier to understand to save time.

So we just payed the AOS fee ,and i just got the Receipt ... they used my middle name as my first name ! should that be a problem ? also for the AOS pack is there a cover letter sample out there, or is not needed?
Thanks !

I have read some comments that people have submitted the AOS before they had confirmation of payment so they could not have sent in a cover sheet-- I waited until I could print my cover sheet and sent it in.  there is a cover sheet available to be printed with a barcode after the payment is cleared.  If I was to do it again I would do it the same way and attaché the barcoded cover page--

but you may get other opinions stating that the faster you send it in the better. with or without the cover page

You could request a transcript one of three ways, by mail, by phone, or on the www.

I ordered a transcript by phone and had it in my hands in about 2 weeks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

I called yesterday and like most others in my similar position were told- received mail on this date, takes 30 days.... blah blah blah.

I am extremely happy for those who recently got case complete- I stare and analyze and stare some more at the spread sheet trying to plan and figure out WHEN.

recently I observed several cases completed well BELOW the average of 54 days, but in the past dew days some OVER the average...

I hope and pray that I have done everything in my power and said the right prayers to get a rapid completion, I have asked my congressman to make an inquiry four times now throughout the whole process, twice in the last few weeks.  not sure if ANYTHING or ANYONE will get this process to move faster I just hope to be in or below the average time frame.  I hindsight it is the USCIS 7 month process that is the most ridiculous the NVC seems to be pretty consistent and  their work can be understood, respected, and planned for.  I can come up with a few reasons WHY I THINK the USCIS waits so long and some of them might be even true.  either way I feel blessed to be as far along as I am, and so close to a resolution to my family situation.  MY ONLY REGRET is not understanding immigration law in the beginning, I could have planned better and made our time apart shorter.  Having this forum available has helped tremendously with understanding and as a source for answers to the difficult and sometimes very personal questions.

after all we are ALL in the same boat, I hate it when I feel or see others feel that this person was lucky, or I am unlucky, I am happy for all of us who ultimately make it through, and I respect the work of the people at the NVC even if they are having a bad day and it shows.  I never let it bother me, I just want to move on with our lives.

Hi

I have four cases, I paid online  the AOS processing fee for the first case. However, I couldn't pay the fee for the other cases , I found a message says that the fee is under process. does this mean that I have to pay only  once ???????

ONE AOS fee- but seperate AOS for each case.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

We did file the DS-261 ourselves. Honestly, rapidvisa is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. They charged us hundreds of dollars, and the ONLY thing they've done thus far is provide us with a form filling utility on their website, where we answer questions and it fills in the form. Even then, we've had to double and triple check, then fill in parts ourselves because it put answers in the wrong places. They also didn't send the I-130 on our behalf. We sent it ourselves. (Seriously, useless service...)

As far as the DS-261, my husband filled it out, and indicated myself as the person/agent to receive communication from the NVC. There's been no mention to the NVC of rapidvisa, since we've basically done 99% of the work without assistance from them.

If I had to do it all again, I'd have saved the $400 and not bothered with rapidvisa. We've found more help between all the lovely folks here and the travel.state.gov immigration walkthrough.

In regards to the original topic, looking backto our timeline, our AOS and IV invoices were sent 2 days apart, rather than at the same time. But the AOS bill wasn't paid yet when the IV bill was sent, which I thought it had to be. Meh... I don't know. Maybe I'm just mixed up. I just wish this was over. I've been so stressed out with all of it. :(

Rapid Visa or any attorney who charges HUGE fees for these types of services should be ashamed of themselves...  in my humble opinion- it is definitely buyer beware- but such an emotional decision-- I actually gave an attorney a deposit - while I contemplated HOW to proceed in the "early" days...  it was quickly clear to me that it was a waste of money and the several thousand additional dollars that were to be paid to them - was simply a BAD IDEA.  Amazingly - I got my $250 deposit back- that they insisted they have just to "Talk" to me about my case- after 30 minutes of talking to them I knew I didn't need another cook, or chief, if you know what I mean...

That said, I am sure the more difficult cases need an advisor, or a specialist.....  but a straightforward application-- advice should be available and IS available here at VJ.

cheers

Very similar stories--  people tell my wife that I MUST have another wife, and even that I am in jail !! fortunately my wife understands or better yet trusts what I tell her and thanks to SKYPE we get to talk every day at a reasonable rate-- although internet connections there are sometimes out for days at a time- Skype offers better rates for international calls..

this will SOON be over, my wife and I lived as a family for almost three years before I was forced to seek work (again)  -- I had NO EXPERIENCE with immigration law and thought it would be a matter of months before we were able to be together again.  here we are now 2 years and 5 months later -- hoping and praying this to be over anyday now--  the second I get our interview date I am booking my flight to go be with my family- and hoping they will be able to return with me that same week.  (worse case scenario we wait another week or two which feels like nothing now)--  I hear you, understand your situation exactly - as do so many others here- keep the faith and believe that this too shall pass.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

Good morning VJ family!!!!!!!!

I know most of us (if not all of us) hate the weekends right now! It feels that teh weekend is a waste of time. I've never been so happy so Monday come as fast as possible.

I so hate the weekends that I volunteered to work Saturdays until my wife gets here. I just want to stay busy and get myself to think about other things than calling NVC or watching other people's progress to compare with my timeline.

My wife is getting tired of all this, I don't blame her. She does not understand the process. Her entourage (family and friends) are killing her with stupid questions and comments. Couple of weeks ago, one of her cousins joined her husband in France with a visa (residency card), everybody became immigration experts and started talking to her about how if I really wanted her we I could've got this done bla bla bla, be careful, he is just playing you bla bla bla, may be he is married in the USA and just wants you here when he visits bla bla bla, all kind of nasty stuff.

Anyway, I try my best to talk to her and she understands what's going on and she trusts me, but from time to time she cracks down, I don't blame her at all. I even told that if I was on her shoes, I would thing the same thing.

Anyway, we got married on July 1st 2013 and our priority date is July 17 2013, 2 days after I got back to the USA.

I know lots of us are going through similar situations. Personally, I believe one thing: this process will make our relationship stronger, even if sometimes it gets hard due to unforseen circumstances.

Good luck to all.

Give it couple of days, hopefully by Monday you should be able to pay the fees.

Good luck!!!!

I broke down, and called the NVC.  45 minutes on hold.  But it was worth it.

CASE COMPLETE!!

She said it was complete on the 6th, but the file didn't show a date.  So she would get a supervisor to correct it.

I called yesterday and what he told was- we got mail on April 24th and May 6th -- that was my AOS and IV package--

I asked what now- said to just wait- 20 - 30 days--

so what your telling me - is that when they acknowledge mail - complete case soon to follow?  I have not gotten ANY correspondence from them at all-

This time has been the quickest moving but still the most difficult- like the last mile in a marathon..

I am a little ahead of myself, I am still stuck in the NVC process BUT- planning next steps-

My question is regarding MEDICAL.

My petition and application for Immigrant VISA is for my wife and stepdaughter, and I know what I need to do for them.  My wife and I also have a child (girl)- who we have obtained a USA Passport for last year- after we went through the report of birth abroad to a US Citizen process- that was EASY compared to the I-130 process..

Here is my question- WHEN we depart for the USA as a family- will my daughter who holds a USA Passport have to produce medical information as well?

The day we all travel to USA is like a dream for me at the moment and I want to make sure there are NO HICKUPS...

thanks

I just called uscis and spoke to one of the operators just to tell me that CSC ( thats where my case was transferred to) is working on february 2013..wth?? I've seen people with my same PD (7/1/2013), this soo frustrating sad.png

They just say that to keep you from calling and calling- there is NO way to guess when or why or how, each case is looked at and or investigated on its own merit.  keep the faith.  this too shall pass.  I had my congressman inquire and they told them something similar- I do not believe it - but there is NOTHING you can do to rush it-- its like watching paint dry.  We are all there with ya!!  I am HOPING and PRAYING to be reunited with my wife and daughters in the next three months- three months in the BIG picture is nothing compared to what we been thru.

I am an August filer--  I check almost every single day.. with the same result.

FD&MDVLMaleHonduras2014-01-16 16:29:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHad the interview and were asked to submit pay stubs

My children and my husband went to the Embassy for our interview last Monday. The questions were: how long we've been married, where did we get married, our jobs, how long we lived abroad. The CO didn't ask for more evidence nor did she look at our papers. It appeared to us that they had reviewed our documents prior to our interview. My husband was asked if he has a co-sponsor and he told the CO that no, he doesn't have and explained that he's making double of what was stated in his income tax. He's only been working for a year with his current company, that's why it appeared that he doesn't meet the required income for all of us. He explained this to the CO. So the CO told him that it's okay not to have a co-sponsor and that she will give us the visa but my husband must submit the last three months pay stubs. She just wants proof of his current income. She told us to go and wait for our names to be called again from the other window. She didn't give us any paper.

In the next window, the lady told us that as per the CO, we need to submit the pay stubs and that's when they can issue the visa. She told us that she's sending an email to my husband for the instructions and send the pay stubs using 2Go courier service.

After that, we were asked to give the white papers we filled out to the next window. The white paper is for where to deliver our passports.

We already submitted the pay stubs the next day and including the printed email for their reference.

We are still waiting the response from them.

Has anybody here experienced the same thing? Would it take very long before we hear from them? My husband already left for the US and can't wait because of work.

Thank you and God Bless everyone.

Thats a terrible story--  So Sorry to hear that-  I do know that it is the FINAL decision of the Consular officer to approve the paperwork- I am interested in what the AOS said to begin with?  did you submit proof of current income to the NVC?

Looking for OPINIONS here- should I book a flight to return and gamble $800 to save $2400?--

It clearly says "DONT BOOK ANY FLIGHTS" --  but the alternative is pretty ugly (expensive) - I MUST get back to work on a specific day --I got 7 days after the interview to get back to USA.

OPINE away..

FD&MDVLMaleHonduras2014-06-26 09:47:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly 2014 Interviews

First of all -- I think this is a country specific question and depending on the country things go differently- but i am pretty sure regardless of the country - you will be paying the $165 fee at the embassy when they approve the application, I have read and understand that you come back the next day to pick up your passports with the visa attached to a page, along with a package that is NOT TO BE OPENED UNTIL POE-- but this may be country specific, when I read that I was reading HONDURAS specific reviews --

but a couple of things are common, leave passport for them to attach visa to, also they put together a SEALED package NOT TO BE OPENED - and you pay your fee at that time at the Embassy...  HOW they get it back to you may be in the mail in some countries -  not sure about France.  but you can read up on reviews that other people have written about the interview--  here

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/

Got the interview letter by email this morning and my case is already in transit... wow ! Things have never gone this fast (we would know, we've been waiting for a year and 1 month...)

Anyway, I just want to know what happens after the interview. It is my understanding that my husband, the beneficiary, will receive his passport (visa in it) by mail within 7 business days after the interview. Then what? He has to pay another fee online, $165, to get his Green Card? He does this online on the CEAC website?? And only then can he come to the US?
