US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHas anyone here refused to get vaccinated
You are the beneficiary applying for a visa to come to the US. You are not a US citizen so you can't use the law to refuse vaccincations. if you want to come here on a K-1, get married and file for an adjustment of status you are going to have to meet the vaccination requirements for the paperwork or you won't get approved...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 - temporary employment advice
Very rarely if ever will an employer put in a letter that your position is permanant. Really in this day and age, no one's is. I don;t think there are many people that can GUARANTEE that they are going to have a job 5 years from now. I got a back up co-sponsor just in case. I am not sure if I am going to need them or not. If your fiance goes to the interview and the CO determines that you are not qualified but everything else is in order, they will just ask that you get a co-sponsor and approve pending the review of that information. If you are worried about it, just get one and then you won't have to.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about extension letter
I totally understand...I am the same way. You may already know this but make sure that the medical is booked soon...There is a post in the UK forums that talks about the changes that just happened on November 2nd. Good Luck with everything!!! We are both close to finally seeing an end point...yeah!!!! I so hope to hear something this week about an interview date. At this point, that is all we are waiting for...they have everything else done. Fingers crossed but I am not going to hold by breath...but I am always hopeful

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about extension letter
If you are sending the DS forms in by the end of the week, then they will receive them long before the expiration date so if they don't process them in a timely manner, they will automatically extend it, I would think. You can write a letter but I am not sure that it is necessary. From the timelines that I see, as long as you have everything in, and they process everything and you should get an interview date before the expiration date. It has taken about 3 weeks for everything to be put into the system for us and now all that we are waiting on is an interview date.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 PART II SWORN STATEMENT
If you read under the guides in reference to social security number for K-1's that question on the DS form does not apply. That applys to CR-1's, not K-1's. To get a SSN you will have to fill out the application and apply with the social security office once you are in the states so marking that makes no difference anyway.

The DS forms are not needed until your petition is approved and you are preparing for your interview to be scheduled. Yes, you will both need US size passport photos for the I-129F petition.

The forms that are to be signed in front of the consulate are to be signed and dated on the day of the interview. It may be different at your embassy but that is what we did for London.

DOS will tell you when the package has been opened and received, when it has been logged into the system and also will be able to tell you when an interview date has been scheduled. Our packet 3 was received by the Embassy on 10/16 according to the tracking number but not entered into the system until 11/4. Each embassy is different and some are more busy than others.

London is more concerned about the I-134 than any other information that you provide at the interview. If your fiance's mother is willing to be a co-sponsor, then I would use her information. Make sure that along with the support documentation with the I-134 that she provides a birth certificate or passport

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Questions
I would go ahead and get a co-sponsor in place that can provide proof of current employment. They would fill out the same form and provide the same documents that you would. The one thing you don't want to happen is him get to the interview and approve pending the I-134 and then you all have to wait even longer for them to receive the information to approve the visa. It is better to be safe than sorry.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Readiness...
Too slow to edit my own post, but see if the guide from this site about CR1s helps:

Link to guide

But from that guide, it says "A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad."

I don't believe CR1s are different in the sense that you should receive packet 3 from the consulate, which includes a checklist that you mail back to them (once you have completed the items on the checklist).

Anyone please correct me if I am wrong about this for CR1s.

This IMBRA stuff is wrought with misinformation. Seems you get different answers based on who you ask. I had thought the same thing about the 3/7 date. Maybe Dublin is being *overly* compliant and sending everything that they have back?

Sheesh.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionReally Basic I-134 Question
Every consulate has different requirements for the affidavit of support. Usually they tell you what they need when they send you package 3 - which from your timeline, you have not received yet.

If you want to get a head start, I'd go to the 'embassy info' link at the top of this page and start there (or ask in the 'Regional Discussions' part of this site). If you don't find what you need, wait for package 3. If it is still unclear at that point, email the consulate and ask.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSome questions on the visa issued my fiance
I'm sorry that I can't answer the part about the name, and I'm probably not too much help in general (sorry), but when I read your post, it jumped out at me that the expiration on the visa refers to the PETITION. I have heard that lots of people have their interviews past the valid date of the petition (NOA2) and that the consulates extend it if the parties still provide letters of intent. I think this happens frequently in London. Could that be what its referring to?

Why it would mention that on the visa itself, I dunno, but I guess it is possible.

Edited to say JINX to JamesMiranda.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionnotarized mess

I have never seen the need for a notary to write a letter, so I dont understand your post. Notaries look at your identification, and stamp and sign in the preprinted space provided as to their commision, etc. after you sign the document in their presence.

What letter???

My bank has a notary, so she notarized my form and gave me my bank statement.

but you said a letter.....what letter???...cover letter for your bank statements??
These are not required to be notarized.

Some consulates (including London) require you to bring a 'bank letter' in support of your I 134. The letter is supposed to include the date your account(s) were opened, average balance and current balance (or something like that). I hadn't read where that needed to be notorized, but if the OP was getting another form notorized and the bank letter, perhaps the notary thought she had to notarize both?

Personally I think my bank will be a pain in the ####### about it, so I've been saving all my bank statements for the past year - which some consulates will take in place of the bank letter (London will, but some may not).
TracyTNFemaleUnited Kingdom2006-07-24 08:01:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 or Bank Statement?
I do believe this varies from consulate to consulate. London, for example, wants only a bank letter and employer letter (if not self employed) along with the I 134.
TracyTNFemaleUnited Kingdom2006-07-24 07:42:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussioni129-f
That is not entirely correct, shalz. Whether or not you need W2s and tax returns depends on the consulate, and (particularly in London's case) whether or not you are self employed.

London requires tax returns only if you are self employed; otherwise, an employer letter and bank letter are required with the I 134 form itself.

Check the 'embassy info' link at the top of this page. It tells you what packets 3 and 4 both contain for the UK.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-129F - Embassy information

Most major banks can give you a money order in foriegn currencies. You probably will have to have an account there though.

My fiancee tried getting Money order in Australian dollars and was told they could do it but had to have an account there.

Did she need to have an account at the bank in the U.S. or she needed to have a bank account in Australia? I'm a bit confused. :D

1.) Have her go to her local bank - the one where she does her banking.

2.) Ask for a money order in Canadian dollars for the amount needed.

If you've just sent them back packet 3, I would wait at LEAST a few weeks before emailing them about an interview. I'm not sure what their 'standard' wait time for that is now, but it used to be 8-12 weeks (although it usually never took that long).
