For what it's worth, I do feel a good amount of guilt about the fact that if we have a child, he/she probably will not know its UK family very well - mainly because his mom is elderly and not prone to travel here much, AND his sister owns a pub and thinks it is the most important thing in the world. SIGH.

Even though we would be happy to travel there, thus far in our marriage, we've only been able to scrape up enough $$ for my hubby to go back (and/or have his mom pay for a ticket) - so I don't see us being able to buy 3 tickets over all the time either. Nor would I really want to travel on a trans-Atlantic journey with a baby or toddler more than once or twice...! laughing.gif

So I feel ya. I think these are just one of the downsides of relationships like ours - not that we would trade the relationship for anything...it just is probably the biggest downside to the whole thing. I think your family will find a way to be involved - can almost guarantee it! smile.gif But my in-laws - not so much. sad.gif

ROFLMAO I would definitely have trouble not laughing at that guy. Does he call his mommy after he gets off the phone with his wife? I really would think that this guy is in desperate need of some good old fashioned pranks. Maybe sign him up for numerous email newsletters, particularly the bizarre ones :whistle: Some of those email lists take months and months of communication to get off of. :innocent:


I know, right?? I'm a grown woman - I don't need to call my husband to tell him I made it to work! In fact if I did call him first thing like that, he'd think something was wrong! What a namby pamby!!

I've had my tape dispenser glued to my desk before -I should consider something similar. LOL Though there is a freaking security camera right above his desk so I'd be busted for sure. Actually I don't even know where that camera feeds into or who monitors it - but still. Too bad its not a smell cam or they could get the effects of his farts the same as me. :lol:

It's only acceptable behavior if you accept it. I've had co-workers who do stuff like that and unless they are a supervisor, I've always said something. Sometimes, it's just more fun get your revenge in a passive aggressive manner :devil:


I dunno, I guess I feel awkward going up to the guy and saying 'would you mind farting somewhere else?' :lol: And it doesn't exactly seem 'talk to his supervisor' worthy. I guess I will have to find a passive aggressive solution as you suggested. I don't think he heard either my disgusted laugh (and my 'Ok....?!') or my gagging cough (on alternating incidents).

My cube neighbor whistles to himself randomly while he works and also has no qualms about farting openly. He either thinks I am deaf or want to hear/smell his quacks.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if one of his quacks stunk so bad that the pregnant lady (me) had to barf and did it on him? :lol:

Seriously, in 'cubicle land', is it really acceptable social behavior just to fart at will? I'm just wondering.

There's not much more of an overview to be had from green card to citizenship. You get the conditional GC (if you were married less than 2 years when it was issued), remove conditions, and then you can apply for citizenship as soon as you're eligible.

They haven't taken the payment as yet. Thank you nigel I'm aware of the complete processing of the naturalization process. Completed all the forms for my brother in july 2009 and set up his biometrics and went along to the interview after which I used his information to petition our parents. I still have his case number in the online portal. Its just odd that the cases would reflect NBC when the web site doesn't say.

I was able to view my case status the same day (yesterday) I was notified... Made sure I checked it. Memphis TN office seems to be processing basses in May 2010 guess I'm looking at being approved after September... Oh well.

lot of local field offices where you can do a walk-in for Fingerprints in mid-wk (wed only)

Don;t know what day of course, but now I hope it's after July 4th...I was thinking of going to viist my parents on the long weekend. Beggars can't be choosers though, I'll take whatever they give me.

Hi ... Had my oath today (May 18th) in San Diego. Somebody please update my info. The process was taking longer than I expected. We were asked to be there by 8am but the ceremony did not start until 10. It finished around 11am. There were about 500 people. Good news for SD applicants is the passport regional agency is just a couple of blocks down from the ceremony hall. I submitted the passport application right after the ceremony and will pick it up tomorrow. Very convenient.
