K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 1 NOA1 and still waiting

Thanks for the replies. I believe I'll just bypass the gentleman congressman and go to my senator. I'll provide some of the nformation you've suggested from here but as much as I appreciate it, I don't want to take anyones personal information and their case numbers. I should not have to provide that to get assistance in this. I don't see how they expect that when they wanted a signed privacy act form from me to get my information.

Guess they just have too much going on there so I'll kick it up to the next notch. Tracy!!! You're the best!

I believe they meant by more cases needed that they could inquiere to the UScis center that those who are waiting for long time have to call the congressman, they make a package with which they have more power to request answers...Not those of you guys who already have been approved...(NOA2)...One consumer like you can not do their job...the only thing possible is that petitioners call one by one to make a group...Good luck, we are in the same boat with a few others with the Cr-1...!!

I sincerely doubt they would make inquiries 'in bulk'. As Jim pointed out, they have to get privacy releases from each person to do the inquiries. It'd be a logistical nightmare for the congressman's staffer to get all of those in and compiled, then send one request with 20 cases. Let alone how the CSC would then sort through that.

What does it hurt Jim to call his senator anyway? If they do an inquiry and nothing comes of it - fine. But at least Jim will feel as if he has physically done all he can do to see his case adjudicated.

Speak to a 'live person' who can physically look at your folder? Surely you jest. The phone number we have access to is the standard customer service number - they can see on their screen what we see on our screen (via the USCIS website). Customer service people are not adjudicators the last time I looked. I sincerely doubt they'd even have the security access to waltz into the adjudicator's cubicles and start looking around for folders. And for that matter, I suspect Jim has already called the oh so helpful customer service number. To imply he hasn't is a bit insulting.

Sorry to put my suggestion here, obviously some would reply just to flame me over it.

Good luck in your journey Jim

I flamed you?

I am a close personal friend of my congressman (I actually had dinner with him, 2 other congressman, and a senator last weekend) and he assures me that he can do a congressional inquiry, but unless the timeline which is posted at the USCIS has been exceeded, the results would be fruitless.

As far as your date goes, I would talk to a live person at CSC about your case, someone that can physically look at your folder. Considering the touches in January (which are consistent with NOA-2 noticices received by people that filed around the same time you did) I believe that there is something awry, perhaps the adjudicator entered your case number incorrectly or something, (does an RFE show up on the website as such?) but you definately need to have someone physically touch the folder if you haven't received an RFE or something. (does the service center ever investigate information if they feel it is fraudulent or questionable, thus setting you behind schedule?)

If none of this works, I would certainly suggest, as others have, that you contact your Senator (by phone first) then fax him (actually his staff member) a copy of the privacy release, and a brief description of your situation.

Ok I'll bite, Timsdaisy. What federal register section? What'd I miss?

You probably posted it when I was taking my much needed VJ sabbatical.

It's this one: http://www.visajourn...mp;#entry791399

But I'll warn you: just skip all the discussion that comes after that got wayyyy off-track. In the .pdf you'll find if you follow the directions, there's some data about processing times for various USCIS forms, including the I-129F. They peg it at 2.9months. I think that may or may not be handy to pass along to congressional staffers who normally can put people off by saying "see the USCIS website, it says date x." Maybe it won't - but at least it gives you some kind of informed postition to say, sure, I understand that the processing times are the OUTER LIMITS of what is considered normal, but the average is actually much, much less time than what they report, so if you could please look into the matter further, I'd really appreciate it.

Maybe it'll help. Maybe it won't. But information is seldom a bad thing.

NICE find. I read most of that PDF when it came out - but obviously I somehow missed that 2.90 months thing for I 129fs. Its on page 7, Jim.

I just emailed ya, Jimbo. I'm f'ing FURIOUS for you - so I can only imagine how you must feel.

This is utter shite anyway, not to mention getting the shaft by someone whose salary you essentially pay.

If this was from anyone else, I'd have to argue.

Still too happy for your good news, T!

Hey, all I did was ditto you and lent my support again (which you've always had). TimsDaisy's find will be helpful to have in hand when you call your senator tomorrow. I want to hear what they say (before you whip out the PDF and after).

And if they (senator) agree to do an inquiry for you, I'd call that ####### back at the congressman's office and say you'll no longer be requiring their condescending attitude, and you'll remember all of this next election -as will all your friends and neighbors who hear your story and how UNhelpful your congressman was when you needed him. Thank you and buh-bye! *CLICK*

This part of the process is VERY slow, unfortunately, and there's nothing you can do about it.

It took me 128 days to get out of the service center. The averages shown on this site are just that - averages for people who post here (which is actually just a small percentage of the people going through CSC, not only for fiance visas, but for all sorts of visas - and naturalizations, too).

It is very frustrating to wait - trust me, I know. But it does generally pick up speed once you make it to the consulate, so take heart.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDec/Jan/Feb filers CSC

The times on the official government websites show the slowest moving applications out there - it's a safeguard manner of reporting times to decrease the number of complaints from applicants.

The real processing times are *around* 2.9 months. That's usually around 90 days, give or take. Some take wayyyy longer (TracyTN) some take wayyyy less time (practically all VSC filers).

Timsdaisy - always makes me the benchmark for 'slow' - I love it! But poor Jim&Gemz is STILL waiting, as is jlcross (both November filers).

But yes, you can expect around a 90 day wait for CSC - but that's a rough guesstimate. Click on the 'processing times' link above to see how it looks today - it varies from day to day.

One Vermont Feb filer just wrote they got their approval. 33 days from start to approval. This is just disheartening.

Guys - trust me when I say - don't do this to yourselves. Looking at VSC approvals is NOT healthy for your state of mind, esp. if you've just had your NOA1 a few weeks ago. You will kill yourselves with stress and frustration if you so much as go in those threads - just don't do it.

VSC is an anomoly, and people who go through there generally have no concept of what CSCers go through, nor do they really care as they fly through and we sit and rot. Personally, I wish we had a subforum for each service center so we didn't even have to see those threads, but that idea was sort of shot down (see site discussions forum), mostly as un-doable.

For your mental health - really - just don't look at the threads nor open VSCers timelines. Turn off signatures so you don't have to see their dates there, either. I wish I had.

I think I see your point now. And it's exactly what I've been wondering for a while - why not have VSC work on some of CSC's backlog?

Or, have NSC and VSC people be processed at VSC, and TSC and CSC people be processed at CSC?

Seems like a more equitable distribution of the work to me (than VSC alone and CSC handling TSC/NSC and CSC).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 07 NOA 1ers - CSC Centre
There is a rhyme nor reason to it. If you look at the instructions on the I 129f, you are told where to send your petition based upon the state you live in.

If your state falls under the jurisdiction of TSC or NSC, those petitions will then be forwarded to CSC. People who live in states under VSC's jurisdiction will be processed there, as is the same for people in CSC's jurisdiction.

Surely you sent in your petition by the same rules, yes?

Lack of touches was stressing me out, too. I had one, 7 days after my NOA1. Then nothing until the day of NOA2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsLots of touches but no NOA's
I don't know - I didn't sign up online until after I'd received my NOA1. I only got one touch after that - 5 days after my check was cashed (then no touches until NOA2). Has the check not cleared yet?

But I do know that once they receive your package, they have to scan it in whenever it is moved for tracking purposes. It could be that you're just being moved from the mail room, to where they process the check, to the shelf where the petition will be until it is pulled by an adjudicator.

Search for Huskerkiev's posts. He's a former adjudicator at NSC - good insights into the process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNO TOUCHES AT ALL.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just wandering....So how often do we get touches? Is it normal for someone not to get any touches at all? I haven't had a touch since 03/12/07, which I think was the same day CSC received my application. I notice some people get touches quite often. So what does everyone think? At least I know they have my petition, but maybe they have just not done anything with it yet???? I am not really worried, just curious is all.

Thanks people.

reach449

There are often a coupe of touches inthe beginning and then again right before approval. I know a lackof touches makes you think they have lost your file behind the filing cabinet! BUT don't worry. You can get an approval without seeing any touches. Sometimes it just comes in the mail!

really? what about this, I was touched wed and thurs, but no noa2 yet. Think its possible they wouldn't update the online part, and I could get the NOA2 in the mail before I ever see it online?

Yes, that is very possible. It happened to a few Nov filers if I recall.

I got one touch a week after my NOA1, then didn't get a single touch for the rest of the 128 days I was at CSC - until the date of my NOA2.

In fact, the lack of a touch until NOA2 may be a GOOD thing. Likely then no RFE!

Also we know that the system isn't perfect either. There are people who got their NOA2 but never had an update on the site at all.

Same here: mailed on March 20 and still nothing. But at least the check has cleared, hurray!

Actually my fiance was able to drop by TSC office while on a trip there and he was able to speak with the manager/director or whoever that was. According to that director guy, now is a very busy time for Texas immigration authorities since the seasonal across-the-border workers started pouring in, and their processing slows down everything else.

Well if you are waiting for your petition to be approved by Texas then you are in for a very long wait.... Texas does not do I-129F's anymore as they are all transfered to California....

There are several folks who have waited longer (myself, jlcross and Jim&Gemz - both of whom are still waiting).

I'm not sure what (if anything) your representative can do at this stage.

This is why the VJ processing timelines wind so many people up. They make you believe that you're way behind, when in CSC terms, you are not.

Duh... I never noticed that before. Mahalo!!! Any idea how that is ascertained?? Random number generator??

Your guess is as good as mine!

Its not difficult. The timelines we all fill in make up the data that are on the graphs in the 'processing times' link (above) by service center. Its calculating it based on that, essentially. As the times move up or down on the graphs, so will the date in your timeline. That's why its nice when folks complete their timelines. Of course, VJ is only a very small sample of overall filers but it at least gives you a ballpark.

I love these tshirt ideas! My caffeine deprived brain can only come up with 'I survived the CSC'.
