Middle East and North AfricaInterview on a possible holiday

ah - sorry - i was a bit braindead last night.

regardless of 'what is posted' online

trust me - the Embassy IV unit WILL NOT SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW for a date that the Embassy is closed.

My apologies for my confusion, though.

Hello Darnell hope you been ok.

There is a memmber Mamamimi----Chile, Nov 3 @ 1:30 ... her interview was orginally set for Nov. 1 but that is a holiday in Chile. This was the first appointment set by the NVC. The post is in the November 2010 Interview thread page 25.

Here's Her Story

If it was scheduled on one of the local holidays .. the embassy will be closed.. so then I'd email the embassy with all the information and inform them of this.. and they would do the fix for nvc

Well the primary reasons why lawyers are used is for a faster process... Their familiarity with the law etc. Honestly a lawyer isn't necessasy UNLESS you will have a complicated case...!

Middle East and North AfricaFor any new "Egypt" peeps

Not all women/men in the Philippines bail out in their marriage once they are here in US. I all countries do it also. It is a sad situation but there some successful one also............

Who says it doesnt happen in the Philippines..? Do you read the post that our members leave on here..? 8 of 10 are related to the Philippines.

"Relationship fraud is a persistent problem in the Philippines. Relationships developed via correspondence, particularly those begun on the Internet, are particularly susceptible to manipulation."

the above "quote" isn't made up.. it's from the Department of State feel free to review the link below.
http://travel.state....is/cis_999.html

It might happen in many countries BUT they focus on the problematic areas.. that engage in business marriages. so eg. if you have 50 in Canada, 100 in Jamaica or 500 in Egypt & the Philippines then Egypt & Philippines will be their focus.. and so they make a public announcemnt on their website to watch out for these things.

Middle East and North Africathe current situation in Egypt

Hi everyone,

I read about evacuating US citizen and their immediate families,,,,my question is,,, my dad is a legal permanent resident,, and he is here in Egypt with me now
but both of us are scared and he wants to go back to the US and he can't leave me behind here alone( both my mom and sister are in the US now). I don't have a visa to the US. So will I be able to go with him even if he is not a US citizen yet??

Well that's good they are evacuating US Citizens and their families. I don't have an answer for you but I will reference your post a hot topic so you can get some quick answers.
here is the other post - http://www.visajourn...ding-petitions/

All the best.

Hi just to let you know as it stands I emailed our embassy and Egypts, in evacuations by US which ended on Feb. 5, if you were living there with your husband and he had a passport he could fly to country of choice US flew you out to but if he/she is still in immigration process he would have to stay in the country you were flown to prior to flight to US, (greece, turkey, etc.)and proceed getting his visa from there. They would not fly him to US with you from there otherwise.

Do you know this applies to Permanent Residents and their families etc...?

Your fellow country man would like this information on this thread - http://www.visajourn...84#entry4464684

i'm curious to know the status/outcome.

If you are already married I would def give a call. I can remember hearing that when they were evacuating USC they were also evacuating their spouses even if they did not have a GC. From what I heard this was for couples who were together at the time evacuations began. Def. call and find out.

where were they evacuated to..? Was there an approved application at the consulate level..?

Middle East and North AfricaPENDING PETITIONS

Good evenings all,

So now I am wondering if our petitions will be delayed, looked at with more detail and with injustice eyes, now that the US doesnt know what is to come from the Egyptian government.

Is there any way we can make our petitions expetited on human rights and our spouses safety? Any laws as US citizens for the protection of our family members.

Im soo worried. I just came back from Egypt, yesterday morning. Things are looking bad and getting worse.

It's unfortunate -

Well.. Why would they need to expedite..? To me this isnt an emergency if 1/2 of the country is involved in the "unrest."
The US is trying to get out of there.. worrying about someone's petition is the least of their concern.. I'm all for it if it's a natural disaster BUT the Travel Alert expires on February 28, 2011 so it's not long term.

With all honesty, I think it seems like the US is trying to get all their staff out ASAP. Hopefully they will ship Egyptian applications to somewhere nearby for processing.

Middle East and North Africaemergency help!!!

well my story is very sad, after 4 years since we started talking, about 3 years of marriage and our 2 years old son,my wife decided to leave me . she canceled the file and asked me for divorce, but I want my son very much she doesnt want to send him to me.

She does not want to send him.. where are you heading to..?

If I dont want to divorce,is she able to get the divorce?

Why would you want to stop someone who might not want to be with you..? That wont help the relationship.

I want help about what to do to have my son with me or to be with my son?

Seek legal Advice on custody battles.... what is your legal status..?

Who is the petitioner here.. ?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130, Petition for Alien Relative

About 3 months ago, I've received a request from NVC to pay all fees; I did so, including the expensive $400 each fees.We sent in all our paper work, affadavit of support, etc. Im in New York, how long will it take for them to receive it,considering i have sent it over a month ago? Now recently, I have seen the visa bulletin and seen that the category for Alien Relatives got pushed back to January 2000. Will this have an effect on my case? And considering that the National Visa Center has taken down the website to pay the fees, will my case still have a chance to be processed this year?

Welcome to VisaJourney

What is your case category? Who petitioned for who...? This is important to know so your question regarding processing expectations can be answered

#######...I sent the OPTIN Electronic filing email with my wife DS-3032 pdf file from my email. Instead I should have her sent it to the NVC people.

Dumb mistake...what to do now, call the NVC or wait about 6-7 days to see if they actually process my EP step.

:help:

Well just wait and see if they will accept / reject it. You can Always send it again from her email.. if at the time they are processing it then they will advise that the Agent of Choice was appointed.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa expiring but not ready to move!

Think about this: if you were planning to travel to the US to attend a wedding, but were not ready to move, you would have to activate the visa even though you were not moving at that time. Generally, once you have activated the visa you should complete your move within 6 months.

Should complete the move within 6 months from the date the visa was activated..? The visa is valid 6 months from the date it was issued. The immigrant can travel to the USA and then depart to completing what ever business he has to deal with.

You dont have to move. Just stay where you are and you can start the process over.... Or you can do what my mother and father is doing right now. Come to the USA to activate your status and then go back to the UK. You can return within a year and not require an reentry permit.

Though I know it is an OR clause, I sent:
1) Copy of naturalization AND
2) Copy of all pages U.S passport

My impression always is no harm sending more details than few. If USCIS doesn't need other, keep in their file or trash one :star:

Loto

Yes that'd be cool too. I can say I did fill out the I-864A for my brother's wife AOS ad I did use her birth cert. & bio of blue book.

when Assembling the I-130 Package i have to make copy of ALL pages of my US Citizen's passport?
Thats like 28 pages, am i right?

No that's not necessary. All you neeed to do to Show proof of US Citizenship is Send a Photocopy of :
1. Copy The Biographic Page of the US Passport ( The page with your photo)
2. Copy of the natralization Certificate OR
3. Copy of Birth Certificate (long/short form)
RICARDO4EVA2MaleJamaica2010-09-03 09:03:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThis has to be a FIRST
INS is No longer USCIS is in action now name has changed for years. The period who adjudicated your case seemed to not have paid attention to what he/she was doing and that your petition was not submitted with the initial evidence. Passport photos of the applicant/spouse has long been requested and was in effect in August 2010. The copy of the divorce certificate should have been included when the petition was being submitted.
It's certainly not a first because there are instances where cases will make it to the NVC and they will send it back to USCIS for review. It's fixable it seems and all that you need to do is respond to their request for evidence.

best for your case.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMoving?

Hey guys,
So i have a question regarding moving...When i did my AOS i did my father as a co-sponsor since we lived together i had to prove same residence etc...well last moment i found a apartment i can afford, and im moving out on tuesday. Will this cause any problems? Hubbys interview is on the 3rd i put down my parents address as the place he will be residing, so what should he say if they ask him where he will live? I'm confused :/ worried and probably overthinking this so any advice will be appreciated

Thanks guys

For the co-sponsorship the same residence is not a requirement but is for the I-864A/household member. Well you are moving and you are the principal sponsor and the spouse so if you are to tell them of the residence i would use the new address. Of course he has 10 days to notify them of the move.
From my point and since the interview would be 2 days prior to your move and if he is not moving with you then provide the answer as is. It will not case not problems. Hope someone will provide a better answer for you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOverseas Beneficiary is Moving after filing I-130

Awesome, thanks Ricardo4eva2 and Raj1975. I will inform the NVC/Consulate at that level and time.

Also, will it be necessary for my wife to change her name and address also in her passport?

She can change the name in her passport of she chooses to... Might make travelling easier than to question her identity..... However not a requirement. She can book her ticket in her madien name.

Address in passport I would not change.. People move all the time 2, 3 times a year no one has the finance/time to keeep changing passport worst if payment is required. Someone from her country can touch on this country-specific question.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOverseas Beneficiary is Moving after filing I-130

Hi, all. This site has helped a lot in finding good and solid information from everyones experiences. I filed the I-130 on Feb 22, 2011. I have not received the NOA1 yet but did just find out that USCIS has cashed my check today. I will be filing for the K3 visa as soon as I receive the NOA2. My questions are regarding my Indian foreign spouse.

In a nut shell you don't have to update USCIS with the new address. You will have the opportunity to get that submitted at the NVC / Consulate Level so communicated documents can reach the applicant..

I am IR-1 here in USA now and almost 1 year..I just like to ask if when is the best time to get my parents here in USA and what process? I like to ask if my husband can petition my parents or me(become a us citizen first) in able to petition my parents..

No your husband cannot petition for your parents
You can only petition for parents when you become a US Citizen - so you have to wait about 2 more years until you become eligible.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresg325a (mandatory to provide father details)

My wife who is USC filing I-130 for me, for G325a(bio information) form USCIS asking my wife's father and mother's information. due to some personal reasons his father does not want her to mentioned her detail in the form.... is it mandatory to provide father details or it can be left as N/A ?

What personal reasons..? if the father is in the USA he has nothing to worry about. Moving on - you can put N/A but that's technically NOT correct because she has a father worst of the name appears on her birth certificate. Don't try hiding anything from USCIS. Even if she has never had any contact with the father the fact that it is listed the information can be provided.. if she has no info on his whereabouts then address etc would be UNKNOWN.

All the best

Yes he can sponsor you while in Canada. He can choose the DCF if he meets eligibility and is offered or choose the normal route by submitting the I-130 to USCIS. He can reside in Canada upon until the day you will enter the USA.

what about a mortgage or a water bill?

There are not necessary. The The IDs doesnt have to show the same address etc. As as you fill OUT the form with the same address then that is what is it. You need me information? Fee free to call the NVC. Heck the address on my brother's tax return were not the same as mine who was "the" household member. A copy of the DL is not required and the passport or green card does not show the address therefore it is done by the address on the forms.

scared of what..? It is likely just something the computer sent - delayed. Your file may not have been opened for them to say a document is missing however you may wish to call and ask if anything is missing from your file.
