IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal documents (e.i., marriage certificate and birth certificate) are required by NVC, right?

Some members on the board are making contradicting statements about original documents and NVC. Am I right to assume that NVC requires original documents, and once, the DS-230 is approved, the documents would be sent to Ho Chi Minh. My wife has only one marriage certificate; I hold the other one here. I am just concern because the application package requires that she bring her original documents but that would be impossible if she send them to NVC with the DS-230 package.

Certified or Originals. Yes they should* be mailed to the local consulate office...if not lost by the nvc folkx

$404.00 is what needs to be paid. even if you paid $400.00 and was accepted you'd be required at pay the $4.00 difference the day of the interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGetting married to soon?

he cant come to UK now as hes on parole till another year or two ????

you might face more problems than you think depending on what he is on parole for?

just my opinion

sara

Think Twice.. you wanna be strapped down for a year or two and cant really move because some's on parole..?

We have been together 1 and half years, ive met him 5/6 times and spent 7 months in the US in total during that time living with him. We have a lease and bank account.

Is this enough time in the eyes of a CO? or is does this seem too soon to get married?

I know people do it much shorter. The reason we want to get married now is because we dont have that MUCH money and i cant afford to keep comming out here on trips and staying while not working. Im in the US now and have to go back to school for 8 months- so the C1 is the cheaper option if we get married now and i apply in the UK- it makes sence finacially and time frame wise. He wants me out here ASAP- this is faster than doing the C1 next june and comming home. The K1 is double the cost, and i dont want to spend that much money. We Plan to have a LARGE wedding in the UK with my family in a year or two (as its impo to have with my family- they cant come to the US my mum cant fly), he cant come to UK now as hes on parole till another year or two.

I know hes the one, but i cant help thinking its too soon, and wont bve special as i only have two weeks to arrange the wedding before i leave (1st of October).
And i think people wont take our marriage seriously, because they dont understand our situation, with immigration and having a lack of money.

Any one been in a simular situation, how did you mannage it?

Thanks Sara

Naah Not too Soon... there seems to be evidence that there is a relationship, the lease.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMoving after POE and before receiving GC

Hi,

I may be moving within a week or two of POE. Will the GC be forwarded to my new address with all my other mail, provided I fill out the correct postal forwarding card? Thanks.

YOU can move where ever you want to... no restrictions.. About the green card... that's important. You can Notify the Postal Sevice that you have moved via their "change of address form" but sometimes they seem to mess up. The person running the main on their "normal" route maybe off from work that day and the finn-in driver might deliver the mail.

Typically they will put a "yellow" sticker to forward your mail when it gets to the LOCAL post office. You might want to file the form AR-11 ACOA and call uscis so they can submit some kinda notification to the facility that does that card production so the NEW mailing address will be in their system. At the point of Entry you can update them with the new address .. if you know the address.

IF the place you will stay after you enter the usa is a close friend/family house and you trust em.. then you can keep the address the same and the card me mailed to you. The same way how people would travel here and leave in a week or 2 and the GC be mailed to them. They typically have the Temp. Evidence Stamp in the Passpost so they'll have no problem to travel for a while.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC BOAT. Two questions

Hi! I have to questions. Hope you can help me:

1. Can I mail the IV package and the AOS package together in one packet? or have to make to deliveries?

2. I am currently in Santo Domingo, I'll have my interview here in my country, do we have to translate my civil documents? Cause I found this info in NVC website:

Translation Requirements

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. This website is been so helpful for us!

1. Yes you can mail both documents in one packet.. JUST be certain to Seperate them with paper clips and the barcode/cover sheet on top.

2. YOu can translate it.. should not be a big deal. I go to Santo Domingo all the time and have have contact with that office. They conduct interviews in Spanish and in English. IF the doc. is in the official language then no need to go spend more money..!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmarrying family members for green card

Ok...you said he went to the Caribbean right?...well...if its Jamaica,Haiti or the Dominican Repbulic, the U.S. consulates there take a more deeper look than other countries due to the high fraud, PLUS the waiting list is ages for an interview for one of those reasons of fraud. Sad but true.

I understand he is trying to help her out, BUT to do it that way is not the right way. He should wait until he becomes a U.S. citizen, and then petition for her, even though it might take longer, but hey, at least the both of them wont have to be looking over their shoulder everyday for the rest of their lives.

to clarify the wait time for an interview in jamaica is 1-2 months, relatively quick.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAm I Giving Her Hard time
I understand the sense of being patient but as far as I am concerned, we are all busy. If I have to loose sleep, or get up earlier than I need to, or whatever I have to do to get my fiance to me as soon as I possibly can, that is what I am going to do. He is my number one priority. I know that she is overwhelmed, but who isn't? This process is complicated, emotional, stressful...and let's face it...no one wants to be apart from their loved one...one more day than they have to..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA2 (Approved) Whats next?
'AllanPoe' date='Oct 13 2009, 09:58 AM' post='3397312']
Hello,

I am wondering whats next, i am quit4e unsure of what is going to happen after NOA2.

Does the NVC send paperwork to be completed to my wife in Colombia or to me?

I have heard about some tax forms that I will need to complete, anyone know which forms they are and where I get them?

What is packet 3 and what does it consist of?

Thank you and have a great day.

The NVC will prepare your file and then sent it to the consulate that will deal with your case. If you go to forums section towards the bottom there are forums broken up by region. There should be some information in that section that could tell you what to expect next and what you can be doing now to get prepared. I would give you more information if I could but the information that I have is about London...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs a Tax Return the same as the 1040????
The 1040 form is exactly what it looks like or close to depending on the way that they are filed. Most people use the tax transcripts because the embassy prefers it. It shows that your taxes were filed and received by the IRS...hope this helps

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresvisa forms type and write
You are not required to type the forms. You can handwrite on them. We have had to on some because there is not a lot of space to write in certain boxes. You should be fine. I would just handwrite any box that is not big enough...

Well I did not sleep much last night. The kids did not want to go to bed and the oldest even got up without a hassle one hour early today. LOL I have some errands and last minute things. I will go later this am and have lots to do yet.

Will post an update later. He is somewhere over the ocean and headed to Altanta, GA now. I pray his POE is easy since I have only found like three experiences and a few have said to try and change it. Too late now.

Mary

HEE you must be unable to concentrate at this point!!! :D

I think he will be fine at Atlanta. I think Atlanta sucks as an airport (hard to get around) but that doesn't mean the immigration will be difficult. He'll be fine.

Jess, thanks for the updates. I think the right thing for them to do is to allow Georges to travel with you and then apply for the humanitarian parole as was suggested. Here's hoping our government steps up and actually does the right thing. Fingers crossed!

Middle East and North AfricaConfused About Visa Types...Help Please
From what you describe, you will need a spousal visa.

A K1 (fiance visa) is for those who want to marry in the US, and also, you must meet in person in the last two years. So if you decide you do indeed want to marry in the US, then meet in person first, and send in the petition.

American woman made American men into submissives so they can do the same with men from other countries.

If I were an american woman I would be more careful with your foreign husbands around american women. American women are much more likely to try to get your husbands to sleep with them than woman from their native country. American woman want to do everything men do and that includes sleeping around.

FWIW, apparently she was treated by an unscrupulous plastic surgeon out in LA - hence her face looking so messed up. I think many of the women who were patients of that dr ended up suing him.

That is so bizarre. I'm sure you'll be able to get to the bottom of it once the lawyer(s) get involved. Like someone said earlier, I would have figured your hubby would have had more trouble when he entered on his visa -- not his 65/70 year old parents!!!

ETA I hope you've told your in-laws that all of us here on the forum are appalled by the behavior of those officers. They do NOT represent the American people and our attitudes.

Though I don't blame them for not wanting to return to America anytime soon (which is truly sad).

Middle East and North AfricaMy Husband's Father was Deported Yesterday
I'm just now seeing this thread, allousa. What a terrible, sad story!

I am confused though - is it actually CUSTOMS agents who boarded the plane and etc. or was it immigration agents? I always thought customs got involved second - only after the person had cleared immigration - at the point where his parent's would have been recovering their bags. I really don't understand how or why customs agents would be involved the moment the plane landed. Unless maybe they suspected them of smuggling or possessing something illegal. That's the part of the story that I really can't get my head around (not that I can comprehend their behavior in most of it).
