She can send the pay stubs and bank statements as further proof of support for the I 134, but they are not necessary (if you already have the bank and employers letter).

I've never read where the letter of intent needs to be notorized.

Post offices here don't do notorizations. Most banks have a notary on staff so have her go to her bank and ask.

London uses the I 134 but as mentioned, they will instruct you later.

The I 864 is not needed until AOS phase.

Well sure, I agree that you have to at least have the conversation about 'what if'. Hopefully one doesn't go into it THAT unprepared.

Chas has told me that he'd sign 'whatever' I ask him to sign (I don't have a lot either, but my house) but I said nope. I figure if I don't trust him - and our relationship - any more than that, I shouldn't get married in the first place.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSalary Evidence Needed?
Yes, UKers have been able to self sponsor but I believe they must have a certain amount available to them (can't remember what amount tho  ).

If that is not feasible, the USC must provide an employer letter, a bank letter (or the last 3 years tax returns if self employed), and the I 134. If these are not sufficient, then a cosponsor is accepted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help With Question
Not just that, but it IS a very stressful time when you're going through a divorce. Things that you'd normally never miss will escape your attention, esp. when you think you've paid a professional to help you cover your a$$.

If you've not gone through one, Peter, than you may not understand what we're saying. If you have, and everything went off without a single hitch, then you're very very fortunate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help With Question
Ditto. I realized that my decree did not state that I was taking back my maiden name. Luckily I noticed it 2 days after it had been filed, so I rang up the lawyer and they fixed it for free and resubmitted it to the court.

Of course, the fact that I TOLD THEM THAT FROM DAY ONE obviously hadn't made a damn bit of difference. I wouldn't use that lawyer again if my life depended on it.

So ditto what Aymerlu said about paying them to do a job and they can't even do it right.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEmplyment Authorization?

"""You will be eligible for a Social Security Card when you arrive, but noone is allowed to hire you until you get and EAD. You can't get an EAD until after you get married and file for AOS. You can submit the EAD application at the same time as AOS or after. You can expect the EAD to take 2 - 3 months after you file."""

umm, no...
one can get a stamp at POE in passport that allows one to work....which my husband received in cinncinati when he came in on a K1. EAD then arrived 3 months later in the mail

Cincinnati gives the temp EAD stamp?

Did your fiance keep a copy of his initial package (all the papers sent in with the now approved I 129)? I plan to because I'm paranoid  .

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSad Update
I'm a little  I have to say. ONE member could never make me stop posting but I'm sure that's how it looked. I think, overall, I'm just 'message boarded out' (if that makes sense). Its been coming on for a while, and I guess this was just the catalyst.

Regardless, I appreciate the Ewok's response and all the PMs I've received (as well as messages here). I remain a bit board weary, and probably won't post as much, but the great people here make it difficult to depart entirely.

Thanks again, and once again a MAJOR 'I'm sorry' to the OP for the derailment. Lets all move on, yeah?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSad Update
 Well you leave VJ for a day and look what happens!

Pax, welshie, etc. its people like you who make VJ worthwhile. As for the other part of the population, I had no idea that me not having filed yet for the visa would tick you off so badly. Why is it that someone on a MESSAGE BOARD offends you so much (to the point where you must go out of your way to be rude), I'll never know. But, its not the first time I've heard it and I'm sure it won't be the last.

Message boards, for the most part, are a joke. I've learned this many times on other boards, but was holding out hope that VJ was different. Well, I'm not afraid to say when I'm wrong. I appreciate those of you who I consider friends and look forward to conversing with you offline in the future. Your friendship, kindness and wisdom have been second to none.

In the meantime, I will use VJ for exactly the reasons I found it to begin with - research and information. I sure hope that doesn't offend anyone. /sarcasm/

Beyond that, its just not worth it to me anymore.

Edited to say - sorry again to the OP. I hate that your thread turned into this, but I still wish you the best.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTrouble in the relationship
I'm sorry to read this. (F)

Personally, I would not proceed in marrying someone if I was this unsure about the relationship. I think that would do nothing but complicate your situation.

If it were me, I would have to seriously consider withdrawing the K1 petition for now and resubmitting again when and if you're sure about the relationship. Better that than putting the added pressure on yourselves to MAKE it work just because of immigration. Relationships are hard enough!

Long distance relationships aren't for everyone. Don't beat yourselves up if it isn't going to work for you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello all!
Personally, I would not make ANY firm wedding plans unless and until that visa is in your hands. Wait times depend on SO many factors (which service center you'll be going through, wait times at London in the event of backup, etc), I would hate to see you spend $$ on deposits that you couldn't get back if your wedding day didn't come to pass as you'd planned. Then again, I am the overly cautious sort. :)

I'll let others comment on the usage (or overusage, as the case may be) of the VWP, but from what I understand, it should be used as intended - for a holiday - not for you to essentially live in the US.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Being Born in US

With my I-129F can I use a passport that says I was born in the US or must it be my American Birth certificate?

If you read the instructions on the I-129f, it says what forms of proof of citizenship are acceptable.

Also what does birth certificate number mean? I called vital records and they said there is no number it is just the city I was born in.

I believe that certificate number refers to the naturalization certificate number, only needed if that is how you derived your US citizenship.
