Yep. Like Feather, I just appreciate seeing the October ones filling up (slowly but surely...!). :)

So it is an interesting comparison, but the immediate gratification of getting there quickly is one thing. What happens after that is where things seem to fall apart.

Yes perhaps, but what we go thru to bring the UK partner here is not exactly quick. Many hoops, lots of waiting & $$ to spend.

True. I didn't mean to make it appear otherwise. But still quicker than coming here (but you can't fall off the floor

I feel like the system for these visas is a bit ridiculous as far as time is concerned. I was researching what it would take if my fiance and I wanted to do it the other way and live in the UK. The process is much easier and A LOT faster. Granted, there are probably way more people who are wanting to come to the US, and probably a higher fraud level as well. So while I hate the wait, I also think it's there for a reason, and I'm glad it exists.

I hear this same thing all the time. The levels at which the UK are admitting immigrants is staggering. I'm not sure how the current infrastructure is going to be able to maintain that for much longer. From what I've read, the cracks are already showing.

Kit Kat is so right - the waiting is part of it.

My fiance and I had a lot of hurdles to jump before we could even get to this phase. While we were jumping, I was incredibly frustrated that things weren't going fast enough.

Now that I'm here, petition awaiting in CSC, I honestly am not having that same sense of 'hurry up!' that I did while we were hurdle jumping. I truly think that is serving me well now; I am just grateful to be where I am - where ever that might be. :)

Agent?

The only way for you to get a copy of the packet that they'll mail your fiance is for him to photocopy it and send it to you. Unless the DR consulate is totally different from all other consulates. They will not mail it to two addresses.

No one here can tell you what a CO officer will do for sure. It is at their discretion whether or not to admit you, and they can ask you any questions they see fit. That said, you're well within your rights to visit here. Having other visas before that *shouldn't* have any bearing on your visit this time.

The only thing you can do is bring documentation to show ties to Italy, and hope for the best. Perhaps you could schedule your flights to go through Shannon, Ireland as that is a US port of entry (as far as immigration is concerned - not customs - I believe Dublin is also the same way, but research it for sure). That way, if you do get turned away, you wouldn't have as far to travel back home.

The affidavit of support is required at the interview phase. Each consulate requires different supporting documentation, but those instructions are usually in packet 3 ( which is mailed to your fiancee from the consulate).

Or, you may be able to find out by clicking on 'embassy info' at the top of the page, or by asking in the region specific part ("Regional Discussions") of this website.

There's a section of this site specifically about the various service centers. Breeze by and do some reading, or look at the processing timelines and immigration timelines at the top of the page.

Sorry, but no.

There are very few things that speed up this process, and a planned wedding sure isn't one of them.

I have seen people get RFE's for not including the entire thing. So, I plan to send all of it, including the 'who gets what' part. They may not care, but if they do and they don't have it, I don't want to waste two or three weeks on an RFE.

That link mentions EMPLOYERS and the I 129. The one we send as K1 applicants is the I 129 F.

I guess it is misleading for us here to always call it the I 129.

Send your application to TSC regardless. They will forward it to CSC if necessary.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGF is worried about coming here alone

Thanks for all your insite. Believe me if i could go there would in a heartbeat. but took 2 weeks the 2nd week i started the new job. The flight I would get her would be one that lands in japan then from there stright to detroit but never leaving the plane just adding fuel and food. She is very worried they will not understand her not speaking good english. Her english is good and we never have a problem understanding each other. Hope this will go smooth and she will come here.

If she doesn't have to change planes on the layover, then that should help a whole lot. What airline is she flying? Most of them are pretty good about helping first time flyers, and lots of them are bilingual anyway. She really doesn't even have to speak much once she is on the plane, and the folks at her departure point will surely speak the same language. Then she is off the plane in Detroit where you'll be waiting.

Tell her, too, that once she lands in Detroit, follow people who are on her flight if she is unsure of where to go.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOriginals for K-1 Interview
You'll need originals of any divorce decrees (if applicable), as well as an original I 134 (affidavit of support) and its supporting evidence.

Also, dunno what consulate you'll go through (your profile says country is US???), but London has been known to ask for original marriage certificates of any past marriages (along with the divorce decree).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslast question before sending off
Send originals of the I-129F and G-325a's. Photocopies of boarding passes/flight tickets is acceptable, as is copies of your birth certificate and any divorce decrees (if applicable). If you send the originals of those documents, you will likely never get them back.

The 'guides' section (above) pretty much walks you through all of this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of having met in the last two years and ongoing
The 'two years' referred to at this stage is proof that you have MET in the last two years, not two years worth of proof of a relationship.

I would think that an 80 page petition is going to make it awfully slow to get approved. That's a lot of paperwork for an adjudicator to go through.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F
Jen, I believe only the petitioner's birth certificate is needed at this stage. If yours is requested, it would be at the interview. Same with the marriage certificate (at least that's how London is).

WOW that's pretty neat! Maybe luis&laura will be our first report on San Juan as POE!! :)

I don't think San Juan can be considered a POE, as its a US territory.

Only thing I can say is don't use Atlanta as your POE. Its the entrance to hell.

You are talking about the actual marriage certificate?? My solicitor took mine too when we got a divorce - I didnt think they needed it as I have the decree absolute to show that the marriage was over, isnt that all they need? I dont know if my solicitors firm will have all my records from when we got sdivorced and I dont know how quickly they will be able to find it? Is it really asked for at the london embassy at tiem of interview. I mean do they state that in the letter?

Lina (UKC)

Can you not order a copy of the certificate? My fiance got married in the Seychelles, and we are able to write and get a copy of it. I would think if you got married in the UK, you'd be able to order one online (much faster than the post).

I have asked this same question a dozen times. The answer I've gotten most often (from UKers) is that its not needed for the petition but its best to have it in the interview.

We'll see if some of our more recent interviewees can come in here and shed more light on this.

hey everyone, thanks for yoru input, yes the meeting in canada would be an option and my girlfriend is coming to see me in the UK, that would be the reason why i wouldn`t be going over for another 6 months. its just very hard because she has a very busy schedule. i don`t own a house in the UK either so i can`t take a mortgage or antyhing like that, any ideas on what i could take?

Letter from an employer (saying when you are expected back at work)? Bank statement showing you still have an active account with money in it? Return ticket?

I'm sure others have been in this position before, as the I 129 asks if you have filed a petition for another alien fiance/e before.

No one can tell you what your chances of approval are. You'll just have to roll the dice and go with it, whether you marry her now or not.
