K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinally... NOA2
You're right - there have been others who had no touch or email but then got the snail mail (heishe comes to mind) . I thought you had gotten a touch, then a week or two went by and no approval - and then you got the snail mail.

I suppose that could be the case for me, but I think me and my poor friend fwaguy are stuck in the same 'slow' box. :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUpdated processing times

If I remember correctly - before the 2/20 change, the date was July 16th.

That date cant possibly be just for service center processing - think a poster on here was right in saying TOTAL time to interview as there's a bucketfull of VJer November filers who just got their NOA2s!

I'm sorry, but it is just for service centers. Read what fwaguy said above. The service centers have no way of knowing what the Department of State's consulates processing times would be, let alone the variance in processing times at the various consulates. The UK or Canada, for example, are 10 times faster than somewhere like Vietnam.

Yes - it is major CYA to give themselves 6 months to process I 129fs. That's why people like me and fwaguy will get no joy if we happened to try and enquire about our lagging cases. All they'd tell us (after an hour on the phone trying to get to a person!) is that we're still within 'processing times', so please hang up and wait some more. :)

And fwiw, not all November filers are through. Well, everyone but fwaguy and me...!

Just saw this morning online that both VSC and CSC updated their processing times' - both centers list August 21, 2006.

In reality, comparing those two centers can best be described as the famous story of the tortoise and the hare.

Which begs the question: what kind of crack are they smoking and where can I get some of it?

PS
Sorry if someone else already posted about this (if so, I didn't see it).

Touched again today (02/23) but still no approval. Status says pending. :(
Is it possible they forgot to update the status...?

I doubt it, just be glad that your file is getting touched. When a file never gets touched it's more stressful.

Tell me about it!

Because you're supposed to send it to TSC. They will transfer it. If you had sent it to CSC yourself, they probably would have sent it back to you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresnov filers w/o noa2. last touch was?

how many recent touches have you had?

I'm glad you did the list, fwaguy. I thought it was basically you, me and Jim&Gemz who are left; turns out there are actually 16 of us left.

And yet, they've already started approving December filers.

Oh and my last touch was 11/27/06.

That's my point - I've had zero recent touches.

I'm beginning to think that mine's fallen behind the coffee pot, too! LOL

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFirst Come First Served

No, thats simply not true. All cases are processed in a first in first out date order. Petitions may lag behind because they get siphoned off for security screening, awaiting Responses to RFE's and other reasons.

Also Adjudicators only work/adjudicate one type of petition at a time. Meaning an officer adjudicating I129F's won't be adjudciating I-131's or 485's or something else at the same time. You work in a section, meaning you are assigned to a section who is processing I129F's and you stay there processing only 129F's everyday unless you are cross trained in something else, request a transfer or are tapped to work in another section for a short assignment. But CIS will never "Mix n' Match".

Sorry - my internet went down yesterday afternoon so I couldn't reply.

Would siphoning off for security checks, etc not register some kind of 'touch'?

We're told to call customer service for things, yet in the same breath, they say that they will tell us on the phone what we see online (which in many cases is nothing). I realize no system is perfect, but if the same system that scans and registers 'touches' is what scans and registers where your case is, then I'm really afraid!

Wow - are there still October filers left?

I think the 'first come first served' is a load of bollocks. I suppose it is true if you don't get the slowest adjudicator on God's green earth, but if you happen to get in the box of someone who either doesn't do family/marriage related visas, or a noob, then you're screwed.

Nada in my mailbox today.

Although I did have a brief 'psych out' moment - I got one of those stupid 'statements' from the Social Security Administration. When I popped open the mailbox and saw an 'official' looking envelope, I had a brief 'could it be?' moment - until I saw what it said.

Oh well. I hope fwaguy has better luck today!

Good idea about avoiding Atlanta! We're probably going to end up going with Chicago. Always been a breeze during VWP trips and I've not heard any grief with people entering on K1s.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTougher time the less amount of time you've known each other?
I have read an article by an attorney/former poster here that one of the contributing factors to a denial *can* be a swift courtship and matrimony.

See the article HERE.

Whether or not that applies to the OP, I don't know. But if none of the other contributing factors mentioned in the article apply to you, then its probably much ado about nothing.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSent in proof of ongoing relationship with petition?
I guess I don't see the point in overwhelming an already overwhelmed service center adjudicator with every single phone bill and email you have had during your relationship. Save that mass of paper for the interview, when you might be asked about it, instead of the petition (where you only 'have' to prove that you've met within the past two years).

If you want to send in something extra with the petition, a small sampling is sufficient (and much less tedious for the adjudicator).

True! Though I think I'm biased towards O'hare. :)

That said, JFK is about the only one that will issue a temporary EAD stamp, so I think that makes lots of folks use it (for whatever temp EAD is worth).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 or K3? - HELP!

It seems from reading, the K1 is the quicker to obtain (I was even advised by an attorney- not paid at this point) that a fee of $1,000 could be paid to expedite approval of the K1 visa.

Ah lawyers. Always good for a laugh!

There was no extra 'paperwork' to send about meeting (or not meeting) through a marriage broker. There is simply a section about it on the new I-129f form itself.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce decree
I thought what lisaf meant was that the version of the divorce papers that her fiance sent in were not certified by a court (meaning no court stamp). So the issue wasn't that it was a photocopy, but rather that it didn't have the 'official' marking on it from the court. (Unless I misinterpreted lisa's post!)

The copy I have of mine has a court stamp/seal on it, the date and the signature of the court officer who procured the copy for me. I plan to send that in with my petition - not the original, which is actually on file in the court clerk's office. The best you can get is a copy of that original from the court itself with their stamp/seal (which I paid $26 for, thank you very much!).
