K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 while living in chile
Congrats on your engagement!
You will have 6 months after the interview. If you want to leave in May...you should start now anyway.

I am not going to answer your main question because someone else who knows more will have to do that. But I can say that my guess is that the most important thing is that you have a U.S. domicile. Then it is considered ok.

Have you considered marrying in Chile, and applying that way? I believe it COULD actually work better for you.
Ok now I will step aside and let the more knowledgeable folk answer. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHepatitis Ineligible?

These are the "communicable diseases of public health significance" thatmay trigger a denial:

* severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
* tuberculosis (TB)
* leprosy
* human immunodeficiency virus (HIV/AIDS)
* syphilis (infectious state)
* chancroid (STD, similar to syphilis and herpes)
* gonorrhea
* granuloma inguinale (STD, donovanosis)
* lymphogranuloma (STD, chlamydia)

http://www.uscis.gov...xam.htm#whatare

Chancroid, gonorrhea and chlamydia are on there? So if you show up at your medical with one of those, you're SOL, try again? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that all solved with a dose of antibiotics? Weird...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOhio Senator response from CSC

My aide called today, CSC sent her an email at 2:11PM yesterday(Thursday).

They informed her that cases were assigned to officers yesterday to begin adjudication. :thumbs: I hope we see some movement soon!

They also said they are processing by RFE rec'd dates, which is not great for early filers. I checked the VSC NOA2/RFE dates to see if that held true & it doesn't seem to. But we all know CSC & VSC are run differently anyhow.

Time will tell.

Uh, they are processing by RFE received dates? That's not fair! Although I guess the word "fair" really doesn't apply to this process in any way shape or form.

With any luck by the time they get to my batch of petitions (the ones filed with the new I-129F) they'll do em in alphabetical order.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBackground Checks
thanks!! It just occurred to me that this could be a problem. Glad to see it's probably not!

Thanks for the good luck--8 weeks of rebadging/security checking the entire staff of MSP Airport...should be fun, hehehe

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBackground Checks
I am going to work on a project in airport security for the next eight weeks. Because of that job, I was fingerprinted last week and my name is being put through FBI name checks.

Will this cause a name hit? Will I get stuck in background checks? Or could this actually help...

Anyone who has had any experience like this, please let me know!

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHang in there everyone we will all make it!!!!!
Thanks OP, I needed the pick-up. Sometimes it's easy to keep going and other days (like today) it just feels like this will never end... and I've only been apart from my guy for 3 months and some change... it's going to be 5 1/2 before I see him again... But we'll all keep going because, like many have said, we have to!

It's nice to come to VJ because people actually get how much this sucks. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk1 return address

Hi,

I am currently living in Chile, and will be sending in the K1 appication. My plan is to send it to my parents first, because I need some documents that they have there (in the US). Is it a problem if the forms are sent from a different address than I am currently living at? Should I even list my Chile address in the forms, being that it is not permanent (1 year more or less)?

Thanks,

Josh

I listed my address in Brazil, but only because I was back when I filed and I was paranoid that my answer to question 18 story would have seemed fishy otherwise. As you're there you might as well skip it. I don't know really.

As to the other question, presumably your parents are going to take the forms to the post office for you, so you'll be sending it from the actual post office. You should definitely do this so your package can be tracked. The address they will send your NOAs, RFEs (let's hope not) etc. will be the address you list as your current one.

Also you'll have to send a K1 petition from within the U.S.; you can't send it from Chile. That's what my congressman's immigration liason told me anyway.

Hope that's all accurate...

Asked a couple questions myself.

1. Same as all of you, why can't the CSC do anything efficiently

2. Why doesn't the I-129F Package come with a tube of KY

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresgather both affidavits of support at once?
I'm using a co-sponsor. When I ask him for the I-134, can I also ask him to do the I-864? I want to be as little of a bother as possible.

I'm just concerned that AOS will probably be about 2-3 months after the interview... how recent does the I-864 have to have been filled out?

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Address
But you already asked this! Are you in Chile legally or not? Are you working legally or not? This could make a difference in terms of the G325A, someone told me. Is that why you guys won't get married there, etc.? What's going on. If you're there, why are you trying to do the K1?

As for the I-129F address, just list your residence in the US.

THIS is why I waited til I was home to file.

Yes let me point out that nobody who has filed post-IMBRA RFE (with the new form) has been approved.

Refiling would be quite silly.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWho's actually processing my K-1 Petition?
and expect your NOA1 from California.

Where did you read they were processing petitions from July 10? hee hee. Due to the IMBRA law screw-up (see IMBRA forum), there is no rhyme or reason you can 100% rely on as to who they process first, but you are in for a long wait. Do not expect less than a month. Their published "now processing" date is in early March.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMY QUESTIONS REGARDING I-129
aselano: I put my parents' house, since I'm in the same exact situation as you and staying there too (hehehe staying, I can't even bring myself to write "living" as I got back here a few months ago and will freak out if I'm here much longer). I think it was Yodrak or someone else knowledgeable who told you to put TBD, since that is technically the most truthful answer.

I still don't get why.

Why not attach an explanation? I attached an explanation about Rey's lack of middle name after the G325As, just to be clear.
Alex+RFemaleBrazil2006-08-04 21:15:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMY QUESTIONS REGARDING I-129
I'm going to say, put your current residence because it can raise questions if your fiance's intended address is different than yours.
My understanding is that the address you give in the INTERVIEW is the one that will then become your US address until you officially change it.

Feel free to correct me.
