How about if everyone stops speculating and just make an announcement when the consulate actually opens? Speculation leads to ppl getting their hopes up which in turn leads to disappointment. Just a thought.

I think the consulate will open when my bff's aunt's husband's boss talks to his cousin's friend who works at the juice stand 4 blocks down.

Well I heard from a 3rd cousin of Hicham's who heard from a taxi driver who heard from his sister who heard from the same guy at the juice stand that the Consulate is still closed.

Oh that is so funny, better keep your day job.

Could your selective irritation be any more transparent?

Hi y'all. Thought I'd post here. I listened to some rai music when I used to live in Paris, and then I just found my old 1, 2, 3, Soleil soundtrack and am enjoying it a lot.

Does anyone here listen to that stuff? Have some recommendations for someone who wants to hear more?

Thanks all.

You can't compare a relationship with an age gap to any other kind of nontraditional (whatever that means) relationship, gay or otherwise. Distaste for that kind of May-December relationship has nothing to do with agism or any other prejudice against a group. Distaste for gay relationships DOES have to do with prejudice toward a group.

In many cases it's just fine. IMO, a lot of times it's gross. Like when men are looking for a subservient younger woman. :vomit:
Alex+RFemaleBrazil2006-10-31 18:34:00
Middle East and North Africaabnormal and gross

'Gross' is a strong word, but I think most people who answered were thinking of themselves and who they would be dating.

You know what? I think it IS gross when much older men date 18-year-old Filipinas. The power thing, etc. just seem to suggest the guy can't handle a woman who is his equal. Blechhhhh. VJ is full of these relationships, and they turn my stomach as a general rule.

I don't see this as gross with the older woman scenario, which is what you frequently have in ME/NA.
Alex+RFemaleBrazil2006-10-31 17:36:00
Middle East and North Africaabnormal and gross

The cases aren't parallel.

That is, there are reasons that one might give for finding relationships with large age gaps problematic that aren't derived from an irrational dislike of older people:

1) a worry about the difference in collected life experience
2) a worry about the plausibility of either partner finding the other attractive, all things considered (i.e., is the younger partner mature enough, can they possibly share the same interests, is the older woman/man being used.)
3) worries about the power dynamics in a relationship (i.e., 55 year old rich American male, 18-year-old impoverished foreigner.)
4) worries about what happens when one partner becomes elderly while the other is just entering middle age.

5) worries that it's abnormal and gross

(especially in the context of #3)

I believe they are both correct and used in French. Unless you want a direct translation of the English, in which case you need "les bons temps."
Either way, it's Cajun French, something I doubt EITHER of you speaks.

Middle East and North Africaso what did you wear....

I don't think toothpaste is allowed. :(

I have a 8 hour layover at Heathrow and read on a different forum that near terminal 4 you can walk to the Hilton and for $10 pounds you can use the gym facilities including the showers, sauna, etc. I think I'll do that to freshen up before the flight to Cairo.

I never even thought of changing in the plane. How the heck do you do that in those tiny lil bathrooms on the plane?

Toothpaste is allowed! Don't worry! :)

You can pack one ziploc (the second-smallest size) with liquids of less than 3 oz each. Don't forget mascara is a liquid, so put it in there. Except contact solution, which can be 4.

I suggest you do.

This link had pictures and when it was a woman in full body, they erased her facial features, according to Islamic laws about representational art. The explanation the site had only went as to far as saying it was wrong because it's wrong.

Why? (Curiosity)

Middle East and North AfricaWhat if you donnot like your SO's country...

hello I rather like Algerie and my in-laws but have heard several complaints from others on another baord I am on about not lking their SO's country and in-laws...
My thoughts:
Well if you did not like the country, why get a SO from there ....and about the in-laws... they married the man/women...and also the family...deal with it... patient people are generally rewared for their patience.

Hi, I'm not ME/NA, but I don't really understand this (the bolded part). If I were in love with Brazil, not my boyfriend, then I would just move to Brazil. But I'm in love with the GUY. What do the two things have to do with one another? Just because a place produces something or someone we love does not mean we have to love that place.

My best friend is from North Dakota. Does that mean I have to like NoDak?

this was in october when i was there. yeah, noticed that about the water bottles. maybe cause coke is expensive - like bob's hamburgers

And it is interesting how their water bottles are always almost empty...

Amazing people...

And it took me a while to get the "coke" pun... I think i am losing it...

I don't think it has anything to do with size. Many medical studies have shown that its not uncommon for a womans hymen to break before she loses her virginity. There are people that still check the sheet, but this practice is not as common as it once used to be. Bleeding can also happen afterwords in the form of spotting, everyone is different.

not unusual, no. i've seen reports on the same thing - it can be due to a girl being extremely athletic, the hymen being broken during strenuous physical activities (gymnastics, etc).

There are a lot of factors that might cause that...

Well then check your facts because the size of a man's ####### is not why a woman doesn't bleed the first time.

To put it simple: It's not their fault (as in guilt-wise) that they don't bleed, but it is their fault (as in her-body-not-wanting-to-bleed-wise) that they don't bleed.

I will now just forget the last phrase of her post and let the thread go on...

And also, what if a woman has never had any kind of sexual relations, yet when she goes to bed for the first time with her husband, she doesn't bleed? Not all women bleed when they lose their virginity. I guess to be blunt and honest, some guys aren't big enough to make it happen.

Woa. That is chauvinistic, not based on any facts and it comes from a woman...

I am honestly amazed.
