K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDid I doom (by accident) my I-129F application?
I've heard Vermont is good. Of course, I am possibly moving to North Carolina before all is said and done, which means a change of address and going to another center. I'm nervous about that for sure.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDid I doom (by accident) my I-129F application?
Hi everyone. I had thought I prepared everything perfectly. My gal (I will call her Anh) is in Vietnam and we have met twice in Europe so far. We are deeply in love and want to be together.

So I sent the I-129F form in on Friday, despite my being so sick I could barely walk. And it looks like my being sick screwed me up, because I got home and found the PICTURES I had printed out were on my desk!

Pictures are proof of the relationship and now I have none in the packet. There were copies of emails, airline stubs, etc.

How much trouble is this going to cause? Will they just ask for pictures later?

I'm terribly afraid I have just caused Anh and myself many more months of waiting. :(

Saigon, my Timeline is filled out. I just sent the I-129F app in last week.

I have so much confusion about WHEN to have my parents fill out the I-134 form and what to include it with. Can someone give me a definitive answer to that? I have not found it yet and yes I have read the faw's. Maybe I am missing it. :(

Unfortunately, when dealing with HCMC, you are dealing with people who are notorious for having chips on their shoulder and for denying visas to people they know deserve them. It's a bad situation over there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCannot file a tax return this year - How to explain to HCMC interviewer?
OK, this is going to be a problem. I'm a writer and last year made no money (officially) as I was working on a project that will not be finished until this Summer and therefore cannot file a tax return because I have no taxes to file for.

But my fiance is in Vietnam and that means she will be dealing with the psychopaths in Ho Chi Minh City, who always demand 3 years tax returns.

Because of my strange situation I will need a co-sponsor and my parents, who understand my whacky line of work, are glad to do it for me. But from what I read here I will still need to supply tax returns because I am not a student.

Is that wrong?

What to do? I really do not know. Frankly, I am losing sleep over it and so many other worries. HCMC denies more visas than they approve, some for no reason and some here have been waiting for YEARS with no end in sight!

P.S. By the time she has her interview I may in fact have a big giant fat paycheck in my account for 18 months work. Would proof of that help matters? Or be irrelevant with a co-sponsor?

P.S.S. Please forgive my poor spelling. Like many dwriters I am terribly dyslexic and cannot spell to save my own life.

Amazingly enough, I just got an email from the VSC saying my case was approved! And they only received my I-129F forms on 2/21! How is this possible?! It seems insane that it could move so quickly.

Guess I will just have to be happy about it. :)

You cannot have treatment if it is not active. It may never become active at all. But it is there, in your system, and you will always test positive for it. Once you have TB you always will have TB.

I am going to have her get tested for it now. She has been delaying, as she is afraid of doctors, but enough is enough. I need to put my foot down on this.

As far as your birth certificate goes, you should get a certified copy of your own birth certificate (I'm curious as to how you got a passport, or provided proof of your citizenship for the I-129F, without one).

I got a passport years ago, long before I needed one, in hopes of one day needing it. :)

OK, everyone calm down here. Relax. Take a breather.

There is good information here and I thank you all. I'm still confused on a lot of things. How am I to convince my parents to provide my fiance with their ORIGINAL birth certificates, which for all we know can be taken by the HCMC Consulate and never returned or lost?!

What the hell do they need the originals for?

MY original is LONG AGO LOST! I have none. Just a copy. So now what? Will they accept a new one (I can go to the town hall and get one).

I'm ready to have a heart attack. :(

Try following the assembly instructions in the guides from VJ. Easier.

I have no idea what that means. Like I said in my first post, I have read through the guides I could find and found nothing to help me here. If you can provide an actual direct link then I can look and see if it is something I missed, But right now I have no clue who or what VJ, Easier is?????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan someone help me with this I-134 confusion
Question about Page 1, #7. It states: "That I am employed as or engaged in the busines of_______ with ____ at __________."

I assume this question is for me or the co-sponsor, and the "business of" would be my occupation and the "with" the place of the occupation?

Page 2, #11 asks when the co-sponsors intend to contribute. My parents want to know if they should put "Room and board for three years"? Anything else?

Last question for now: The directions say a co-sponsor that is married should file jointly and sign jointly. ??? So, does my father also fill this thing out seperately?

Honestly, there is a complete lack of proper instructions! How the heck do we know what to do?

OK, I simply am confused to the ninth degree and do not know the ansewer, so, help those in the know.

I have downloaded the I-134 pdf and printed it out for my parents, who will co-sponsor the visa for my fiance in Vietnam.

But there is also this I-864 that I read is needed, or is it? I read in some places that it is not.

Can someone please tell me EXACTLY when I need for my parents without referring me to any guides or FAQs because I have read and re-read them all and they are not clear. I can find no distinct guide for co-sponsoring.

Thanks :help:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChat Logs/Emails for Interview

Hello all,

My husband and I have submitted all documents to NVC and we are now beginning to prepare for the interview. I have gathered all chats and emails and they total about 3000 pages. I was wondering what would be the appropriate amount to print out and take to the interview. I am assuming they are not going to read our 3000 pages, but I do not want to go to the interview unprepared either. I would really like to avoid having to print out all of this and drag it to the interview. Any suggestions?

i started printing those too...then at 60th page i said-no way i am printing this...and i didn't.if they asked about that,we'd show them sms's because we do not write to each other-we talk over the microphone..and just dates when i signed on don't really mean anything.so we took a risk to take only photos, some postcards, and some bills...and yes, before someone asked, they got explanation why we didn't bother with printing 5 last months of 18 hours talking daily...imagine how many pages would that be :)))) Some embassies don't even ask for photos...but then some ask for all kinds of things. If you think it is absolutely neccessary to take those,I THINK IT WILL BE MORE THEN ENOGUH...IN 5 MIN INTERVIEW,WHO'D READ 3000 PAGES :)
GOOD LUCK

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa look :)

You can actually do a google search for "K1 visa" or "K3 visa" - the more popular visas - and come up with some images. They are approximately what the visa will look like when you get it in your passport.

You might want to read through the subforums in the US Visa Holder and Permanent Resident section on VJ or the Moving Here and Your Life in America subforum . It should help get some idea of what people do once they enter America and the rest of the process.

he already got visa,so i know how it look like,hahahahaha...yap,i went to google and it looks like that...i've never got anything like that,so i don't know how visas look like :))) As i said last nite, mine was issued over 20 yrs ago so things changed since then.In fact I only had a stamp and GC on hand then.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa look :)

visa in passport, passport in hand?

later, when coming through the POE, a CBP officer will make a stamp in the passport, validating to VISA stamp to be used as a temp I-551 document, for up to 1 year. (this is a form of temporary green card, or I-551 document).

Once he comes across the US border, his 'arrival' will trigger the card production, the actual green card will be sent to the listed USC's address. If you've moved , or are uncertain that USCIS has the right address on YOU, hey ! hey can update the address at the POE with a CBP officer.

Good Luck !

YES,VISA IN PASSPORT,PASSPORT ON HAND,TICKET PRINTED :)))
i JUST ask because it looked different of what I expected to see(I was asking yesterday about what after he comes to US as far as GC and SSn goes, but visa look made me confused) some kind of stamp too or something not this whole GC looking visa with picture and everything, nice and shiny, taking up the whole entire page in passport, hahahaha so that confused me of should I wait for GC or this is the one for first yr.And letter too, since is like the one they describe here as WELCOME letter...Adress is fine...no need to be changed. He can ask at POE if someone will tell him,hahahaha...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa look :)
Today, our case started in mid december of 2009, is OFFICIALLY OVER! My husband picked up his visa and we bought plane ticket :)
Now,as far as visa look goes-I guess everyone is getting same thing these days-I've never seen it like this before; it's actually looks like GC ,size of a passport page,in color,it is stamped but looks like laminated card and kinda like it's glued to the passport page(but is not).It has pic on it,a lots of numbers(just like GC) and it says VISA in left upper corner...in the letter that he received with it,says only about SSN and nothing about welcome letter and GC,but letter I am talking about is like welcome letter thanking him for interest to live in US and so on...The only thing it says regarding this 'thing' in passport(visa) that he needs to renew it for primary in 1 yr(because we are married less than 2 yrs now) So...did anyone received something like that(I mean visa like that) and do I still wait for GC or this is it-now I am little confused. He wanted to ask a guy on the window but guy said,he cannot answer any questions and everything says in the letter...which is as I said-only about SSN and when and how to obtain one if one is not received. I am used to 'stamps' in passport, that are visas actually so this whole GC looking thing is something I see for the first time...Anyone? :)

Hi,

Did anybody had the same issue where names on
marriage certificate and i-130 where different? I got
married using my old name, I had legal name change a while ago and
I submitted paper from court as a proof of legal name change with
my i-130.

Thanks a lot!!

yes,myself! :)
In all my documents I am my maiden name, only my marriage cert is married name and that doesn't matter at all.In fact it tells you right there before you print I130 that you should send everything as it is(meaning name under which you go,unless you changed it on your documents) I still didn't changed anything and our case was fine to the end! it happened just last month so,this is fresh experience with different names!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS230 question 39 help

The DS-230 is all about the non-US spouse. So in this case the "Petitioner" would be your wife. That is how I filled in my DS-230 and had no problem.

I was a petitioner for my hubby. On ds230 it was mostly about him and yes he needed to sign first page, and leave the second blank to be sign by him in embassy-but it didn't say petitioner, because he is not that..he is applicant.Applicant need to sign, not a petitioner(me)
And then when I didn't know something,I called nvc..I called all the time and I always got nice answer...I wanted to make sure that everything goes perfectly fine so none of the forms will be returned so I called :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTravel insurance

pretty sure you don't need anything to travel.
travel's insurance is just for people to be safe in case they do get into an accident they don't land in a hospital bed and a $50,000 bill.

That's what I thought too,but see some countries require you to take it even just to pass their country...
