Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow to present the ROC package?
Its was a little simpler when I did the package for my wife. There wasn't too much stuff in it. So I used an alligator clip (no holes punched), I used sticky tabs, and I had a cover letter.

Sorta like Flamenco...Fast, clear, seperated...

The inability to explain what the problem was is my biggest issue.  If we're not meeting expectations, fine, we'll deal with that.  But please be able to explain where the problem lies.  All I was looking for was some clarification.  You should be able to give specific information as to why an issue has risen.

Oh, and you should also not smirk and say "Have a nice day!" to me as I'm leaving.  Clearly, I'm not having a good day, you tool.

Sounds like a "Rant" issue here. I hate it when someone can't specify what the objection is. At least if you have that, you can work on overcoming it.

that last sentence is funny :)

Hi everyone, plz I just received dis on my case status and I'm scared what it means..has anyone ever seen this before

On January 25, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we certified our approval of this case and sent it to the appropriate appellate body for review. They will notify you directly when they make a final decision. If you move while this case is pending, follow the instructions provided in the notice and use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Urgent responce needed

Appellate usually means review, or review a judgement...

looking at the context of this letter, I can break it down into 2 parts. First, your application was approved. And second, it is sent to another section for review of this approval. That's the way I read it.

Good luck.

Hello Everyone,

I must say that after everything that I have read about the visa/immigration process, that I am getting very
very discouraged! I-130 to Embassy interview average time 309 days!!! I really dont want to be away from my
new wife for 309 days. When I first started researching the whole visa process, I thought it was only going to take
6 months, boy was I wrong. So, if I wanted to live in the philippines and work there for awhile, while this process
unfolds, what would I have to do? I know my wife can petition me a visa, and I believe it is a much quicker process.
But what about working there? Anybody have an ideas? About me, I have a BA in Business Management, and over
400 hours of training as a massage therapist. I have worked in the retail and the food industry. Any advice would be
greatly appreciated.

Im not Pinay, and im not an American woman, but I would say that it is beyond silly to generalise that one set as submissive slave and the other bitter and lonely. If i have much sense, i should just stay away from this thread (but it makes such fun crazy read honestly: and how telling it is to read the way some American men putting down American women, and if my hubby has such a character i wouldnt have married him anyways) but what the h3ll, why not jump in on the fun ehh?

QUOTE (Mykuls Merry Ann @ Jan 19 2009, 11:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well do you believe that some filipina women themselves also can be wanting the same independence like American women? I often see a lot of American men think that filipina women dont possess these traits, and I wonder have has anyone lately seen the feminist movement in the Philippines and even on college campuses?

Any educated filipina these days who is educated has likely been bombarded with very similar male-hatred ideas. Maybe not as much as some American woman. But I can say there is a fair dose of it.

My only point here is that those traits you see today in American women, I have no evidence that filipina women are any different.

In fact I find today that American female independence may be another attraction for some filipina women to want to come to this country.

Ya think?

My best friends and ex-colleagues are Pinays, a few even came all the way to my wedding, and these women are no pushovers. They are smart, independent, politically savvy, feminist women. Some of them are awesome mothers with great husbands, some of them are single. Only one married to an American man, and another to an Aussie. If/when they marry, they tend to marry late in the 20s or 30s, rather than when they are giggly 20 year olds. The men they marry (or have relationship with) are compatible with them in terms of values as well as world view.

Reading many threads here, i tend to agree that some American men do indeed think the way Mykuls/Michael said above. Anyways, kudos to these men to find exactly the women suitable for their own temperament and expectation in such a huge archipelago. LOL. I would think also that it helps that the women (or their family) are mostly staunch Catholics, so there's no such thing as divorce and annulment are costly. This definitely forces (or deeply ingrained) in the couples to work harder at the relationship. It takes a lot like abandonment and the likes for them to seek annulment. Either the women comes from very well off families, or the new American fiance pay for it. wink.gif

I would take issue with the misconception re feminism equates to male hating, but never mind that. In the end, most men and women anywhere in the world want companionship and love. For some it takes longer, farther and less conventional ways. That doesnt diminish the fact that we have faith and hope in love and in life. And that in itself is a very attractive character that has no nationality.

The question becomes, why we can't have a discussion among ourselves, without hurting the feelings of those that really have nothing to contribute to the discussion? Do the other regional areas attract the same bomb throwers? It is a public forum, yes, but why not keep it "regional"?

I would have to say that due to the snobby French speakers in Canada, don't ever fly air Canada. Because only half of their pilots speak English. And the French speaking pilots cannot communicate with the English speaking copilot, and the American air traffic controllers....And even if the French pilots do speak English, they're too snobby to communicate with anyone...that about covers it.

PhilippinesSurvey about wedding bands
Hey big bear. I took a look at your profile. Let me begin by saying that you look great as a couple. And you look to be a refined gentleman of vast travel and experience. (Based purely on looks).

Now you should know that a wedding band is a symbol of great significance to a woman, much more so than to a man.

My wife didn't have a lot of money to buy me a wedding band. And so I gave her the money to buy it for me. And I wear it for her, so she knows that she has a husband whom is devoted to her. I wear it for me, hoping it will mean that the both of us will cherish our marriage and be married only once in our lives.

As far as my wife is concerned, I bought her a very nice wedding band. She cherishes it so much that she is too greedy to wear it all the time. She'll wear it when there's a special occasion, pairing it with her engagement ring. And she wears it well.

So I guess my take on it is; for different reasons, a wedding band may or may not be worn for a number of reasons.

Let me tell you about the situation I know. Of course my husband knows a few egyptians in our area. One in particular I wish I had a hide out for! His wife won't let him go anywhere by himself. I'm shocked he can even go to the bathroom alone! This is also the same woman that will go out for 5-8 hours at any hour of the day or night and when she's asked where she was her reply is "none of your business!" She claims never to have money, however she does have a well paying job. She steals money from her husband and won't even get him the daily necessities a person needs. My husband as well as others have gave this poor man money so he can just get what he needs. He wants out and wants out bad, but he doesn't want people to yell "greencard" like his wife already claims he's doing. I could go on and on about the stories! What's the poor guy to do? I've debated on having him stay with us, but I don't want the whack job knowing where he's at. Suggestion?

Oh my God! This is hysterical! Listen, I know of many, many, many women who live under these very same circumstances. It's their EGYPTIAN husbands who do this to them. In fact, it's pretty much standard procedure here, in Egypt.

They either aren't allowed to leave the house or, if they are allowed, they have to be accompanied by someone who their husband approves of.

Their husbands come and go as they please and there is NEVER any asking where he's been.

If she's ALLOWED to work, she will 1.) hand her money over to him, 2.) he will take her pay, or 3.) she HAS to help support the household.

My own EGYPTIAN husband tried to keep me in the house, telling me I wasn't allowed to leave the flat and, under no circumstances was I allowed to talk to "anybody" (I still remember his face when he said the word "anybody"). That edict stood until I realized he wasn't joking and he meant it. I took my freedom back instead of joining the "locked up" club.

No, I bet there's much more to this story. You asked for advice and here's mine: Let them lie in their own mess.

This is how I prevent my wife from leaving the house........
I tie her up with velvety ropes and put one of the gag-balls in her mouth......
