IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOKAY VERMONT FILERS, WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING
I'm feeling pretty demoralized. I was thinking about blocking this site and the USCIS site from my daily rounds just so I can stop feeling so irritated and sad about the process AND my government.

This doesn't hurt my relationship with my husband as much as it hurts my "relationship" with my country.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS updated Processing Dates :( Not good news
This just bites.

I was just wondering what we could find out by submitting a request under the Freedom of Information act but it seems like we can only get copies of our own records...

OTOH, this might help GOGO figure out what is really going on. Or not.

Look at the bottom of the uscis page for the link to the FOI page.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAre there any 2007 filers still awaiting NOA2
QUOTE (RickieAndEva @ Jun 13 2008, 03:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I wonder if they pick and choose which case to work on. For example the easy looking ones and set aside the difficult looking ones. And those hard ones keep getting pushed back.

Im convinced they do pick and choose but I think it's by random rather than design. Afterall I dont see how all these petitions waiting from 2007 could all be difficult cases, the percentage is just too high.

In our case for instance we presented tonnes of evidence all sectioned off neatly and labelled. In terms of background checks neither of us have criminal records and we both have very respectable jobs and incomes. So Im not sure if they could ever argue our case was 'tricky' from the criteria as I understand it. Im sure this is true for lots of other people waiting too.

I reckon they probably just pick the cases about to fall out of the 20ft piles surrounding them....

Thank you so much everyone for your replies. biggrin.gif

I feel glad that we're not alone, but sad for all of us that the system seems to be letting us down. I keep reading about 2008 filers already in the NVC process. Of course I dont begrudge those who are approved and wish them all the best, I just wish USCIS would deal with cases in a more logical order!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAre there any 2007 filers still awaiting NOA2
Hi all

We're just 3 days away from 6 months since we filed our I-130. I was wondered how many other 2007 filers out there still havent got NOA2?

Have any of you written to your Congressman for assistance? Are you calling USCIS regularly? We called USCIS for the first time this week and was essentially told to go away, as ive read here many time before, and told to expect to wait at least another 4 months unsure.gif

We are looking to know we are not the only 2007 filers out there still waiting crying.gif and if you have any tips at all on how we can improve our chances of approval (I know there probably aren't any, but its worth asking we hope)

Thanks
Lou

I'd much prefer to see soldiers have the access to medical care that is top notch than to see visa processing be a bone thrown at them. This effects so few while mental health care and medical care affect so many...

Sarah, if you want to get into personal insults, take it off-line.

I know a lot about love, about emotion, and about life. I'm a grownup. And thing one about being a grownup is personal responsibility.

It seems to me a word "selfish" comes in to play. Each soldiers personal responsibility is to sometimes give their life so you wouldnt have to. Thats personal responsibility and dedication. And please dont give me this "they chose to do it" Not everyone grows up with same opportunities, some have to go to army to make their life worth something, they take that risk and for that should at least be respected. Think "you see an old lady on the bus standing, would you offer your seat to her"? There is no law stating you have to, but there are higher things in life than laws.

But we do not have a draft. So your argument is nice but irrelevent.

And what does the twin towers and who started the war have anything to do with anything?

These are deflections and smoke screens.

Further, you darn well do make choices in love. Because you love someone does not mean that you marry them. Abusive situations come to mind. But there are many, many others.

We live with the choices we've made. You've made yours and I've made mine. But we've most certainly made them.

We do, thats the most inconsiderate ####### I've even heard. Are you going to tell me that a firefighter that may one day save your childs life shouldnt get special treatment just because he volunteered to do so?

Are you saying that spouses of soldiers should get special treatment? I'm failing to grasp the nature of the gripe.

All I know is this : My husband is at work now and after work he'll return to his very comfortable home and have a full meal and nobody will shoot near him or in any way threaten the lives of his family. I very much want him to be with me but I'm not going to begrudge someone who is getting out of a hellish situation that perhaps, just perhaps, the US government feels somewhat responsible for creating.

Also consider that many have the option of leaving the US to be with our spouses if this process does not meet with our satisfaction. (I don't right now because of a blemish in my background, but in time I will.)

I hate this process. I hate what Vermont is up to. But on this issue, I give them a pass.

You want to know if I think spouse of soldiers should get special treatment ? .... Personally and I know a lot would agree with me .... YES!

Our lives are very different to civillian lifestyles .... you're lucky in the fact you always know that your Husband will be in his comfortable home with a full meal and nobody will shoot near him .... whereas we can be separated from our Husbands without a moments notice sometimes and not even know where they are or whether we'll ever see them alive again.
There's a few on this website in that exact situation ..... yet they have had to wait weeks and some of them months to see if their expedites will be processed.

There is a reason why Military Spouses have their own day .... and the President thanks us (supposedly) ...... we have a difficult lifestyle, which doesn't end when this visa process is over .... Army and Marines now deploy for 15 months!!!!
That's 15 months of not knowing if your Husband will come back dead in a bag .... alive or possibly with no arms or legs .... I doubt you have those conversations with your Husband at night on the webcam .... the conversations where you have to discuss what could happen in the future.

No, you probably talk about the fact it's a shame you can't live under the same roof .... whereas a lot of military spouses are discussing how we'll cope if when the next time we see our Husbands we have to feed them and wipe their backsides.

None of us choose the person we fall in love with .... and unlike you, we don't have the option of simply moving countries .... our Husbands belong to the US Government and we have no choice but to go through this silly process in a hope we can support them face to face instead of occassional calls on a SAT-Phone.

I am all for treating soldiers special, they deserve it. I'd rather give up my place in que to soldier than someone else....

It would seem like countries using ENGLISH as primary language would be the easiest, but its not the case either. For example in russia our spellings to translate to english is pain in the butt. That might make my case "difficult" compared to say someone from England, or other English speaking country.

So many questions, ABSOLUTELY NO ANSWERS.

Ilya R. VSC everynight before leaving plays Blind Mans Bluff, one officer is blind folded, lights turn off, turns him around and whatever box they trip over, that is the box for next days processing.
Sounds as logical as VSC is sending out approvals. Oh geez, a Oxy Moron, "VSC" and "logical "said in same sentence.

The CIA does not consider all of the people of Iraq terrorists and the US government does recognize the hardship so many are suffering. Just because we're not getting our visas granted doesn't mean that there aren't darn good reasons to grant humanitarian visas.

I didnt say that they consider everyone terrorists. But USA invaded IRAQ because of known link to al qaeda. Therefore it would make sense to check their citizens more because of higher possibility of citizens being involved with al qaeda? Am I missing something or what?

Its a bunch of BS. CR1 and K-3 are conditional. There is no guarantee a GC will be issued, but they are worried a would-be immigrant would dissappear. When Tourist, Worker, and Student Visa holders overstay all the time.

Unfortunately, you're suggestion is more like a joke.

For CR-1 and IR-1 applications filed in US, the NVC determines which Embassy/Consulate will process the case.

For DCF filing, the US citizen petitioner needs to be resident in the country where the petition is filed.

A joke you say?
