IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow many are there in the limbo for NOA2 waiting???
Because they are in the minority, I have to think something special caused them to be looked at. They are such a small minority in fact, that I'd lay money that they came to someone's attention for a reason and not just because it was their time.

Don't forget that some countries get preferential treatment meaning they are expedited w/o having to apply for it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow many are there in the limbo for NOA2 waiting???
The one officer I talked to on the phone was audibly shaken (not stirred). She was defensive before I said two words. All she wanted to do was get me off the phone as though just talking to me risked her life. I couldn't tell whether she hated her job because they made her ineffective by refusing to let her speak freely or because she's constantly abused by callers because she cannot speak freely. But she was not a happy camper.

Dr. Nick, they don't seem to be processing anything except K-1s. A few K3s are going through and the only IR/CRs are expedites.

It is difficult to judge if the staff are frustrated because they themselves provide so much conflicting information. Do they beat officers for being honest on the phone? I mean, what's the deal with the constant "baffle 'em with bullshit" answers?

I think the only CR1/IR1s that Vermont has processed have been expedites in the recent past.

Not doing it by the book means always being afraid of being caught, not being able to work legally, and if you are caught, being deported and banned.

By comparison, a third nation option sounds much better.

Can we pool our resources and buy an island for immigration refugees?

I'd over-plan. Get an appraisal on the house and then have statements from the Irish bank before and after the transfer and the US bank after to show that the $$ was transfered.

They're definitely not going by received date in Vermont. Is there any evidence to suggest received date in CA apart from what they told you? Because what they say is pretty much worth the air that it is written on.

You aren't actually outside of the processing times. They claim to be on July right now so you're well within, just like me. It is even worse since they're not honoring the date they received our applications but are going on the NOA1 dates.

edit : You're California -- still not outside of the dates. They claim November. The NOA1 is Feb.

We're both pooched by the delay from the alleged flood of July.

Our advice is to file for a K-1. You'll be in the US living with your soon-to-be spouse in no time. If you file a CR-1 you'll be waiting and waiting and waiting...

... and waiting...

.... and waiting ...

... wishing... hoping ... griping ... complaining ... IN CANADA because you won't be in the US.

What's the current wait between marriage and filing for working papers? I bet it still beats the K-3 or CR1. It is a matter of what they can afford. But I bet right now they're supporting two households and if he moved, it'd be down to one. So long as he's not the sole support, if she's working they're golden.

I just looked -- average EAD is 73 days.

Still a much better deal.

Noooo, don't do the CR1. Seriously. If you do it will take forever. Do the K-1. You'll be married and in the US before we're done our CR1 and we filed in October of '07. Vermont is a black hole for K-3s and CR1s. They go in and never come out (unless your spouse is active US military in which case you can get an expedite.)

Look at the trends and the timelines. You'll see that the K-1 is the best route right now. And file soon. ASAP.

I think without explaining the way that USCIS processes petitions, stating dates and such is not going to be very moving to anyone. (The year should be supplied with July 30th.) Unless you explain that it is supposed to be a FIFO system, that work visas are being processed before family visas, and that the system is essentially at a standstill for family-based visas AND that it is impossible to gain accurate information from USCIS because they deliberately mislead and are rude or don't understand their own procedures, nobody will understand much of anything except that you are upset.

I'm sure Mags is very proud of the way PlatyPius represent her on VisaJourney. He makes her look really good as a moderator. It must make the other mods wonder if it is worth having her as a moderator if all it does is pump up her husband, making him feel as though he can say anything, however sick.

I don't show my country as Canada. I'm a US citizen. My husband is Canadian. And of course that has nothing to do with you.

You are the one with the issues one of which is a pretty poor choice of phrases when you are communicating on a forum that is frequented by people from all over the world.

Considering the comments about herders and their various animals typically directed at those in the middle east, I think the comment about the goat was indeed racist.

Further, if there were another source of data independently gathered about immigration, I'd use it. The ombudsman has complained that USCIS is not forthcoming with information or data. They define and redefine information to suit them. They've refused to come up with information in a variety of inquiries.

Hanging around the system has made some of you very callous. You can sit on your mountain tops and shake your head at the poor newbies who are just experiencing the disappointment of this system, but it hardly makes you better. Your lack of empathy is pretty clear and that reflects on you personally. The delivery of your alleged "wisdom" is that of people who are full of themselves. And if this is where you derive your feeling of power or self-worth, I feel sorry for you.

The date should be a lot earlier if the date represents "at least one" of a petition of a certain date... it should probably be 5 or 10 years older.

Another nonsense BS answer from an out of control system with no accountability.

And of course if you are serving the community your opinion counts more than others... like the goat comment.

Do you really think that the same people who process and adjudicate are the people who answer congressional questions? Hardly.

I work in a massive company. Managers answer nonsense. The worker bees continue to work. It is even worse when you think about who is cleared to answer other agency queries. They're even higher up on the chain.

The threat that questioning authority (or the perception of authority) will slow down the system is nothing more than a threat. That those in power can indeed make it come true only demonstrates an abuse of power. But surely you wouldn't suggest that we stop questioning a ###### up system because of that threat.

And the goat comment was way out of line. In fact, it seemed racist.

Your opinion has been noted and summarily dismissed. But thank you for sharing it with us!

(as though your arbitrary and subjective choice of 1 year to make complaints valid carries any more weight than someone who has decided that 7 or 8 or 9 months to get through USCIS was sufficient.)

QUOTE (PlatyPius @ Jun 18 2008, 10:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is so very amusing....
Just a year or so ago it was Vermont that was much, much faster than California. People started posts about how "unfair" it was for people at CSC, etc etc blah blah. Now Vermont is slow apparently, and people are doing the same thing.

It happens. Deal with it.

I'm so glad that you are amused about a natural reaction to a system that is without accountability, and that is deliberately hidden from public view. Past that, just a year ago many of the people upset with the process were not even in the system so the past has no bearing on today. You don't deal with the past. You deal with what is. Maybe you've hung around here too long if you have forgotten to have some empathy for people who are powerless to do anything that will positively effect an outcome with their own government.

So, if you don't like how people are dealing with it, bummer for you.

Look at employment related dates -- all within 3-ish months.

But California's the same way, so why can they process family apps and Vermont can't? IMO, no reason. They're choosing not to.

I'm feeling pretty demoralized. I was thinking about blocking this site and the USCIS site from my daily rounds just so I can stop feeling so irritated and sad about the process AND my government.

This doesn't hurt my relationship with my husband as much as it hurts my "relationship" with my country.
