Ilya .... you will be approved, and then I think we should all plan a VJ get together party sometime next summer (2009) for a weekend .... and all get drunk and talk about the good old days of being stuck in limbo for what seemed forever laughing.gif at the end of the day, this is a pretty intense time in all of our lives and we're all bonding during this trauma .... tons of booze, dancing and USCIS jokes rofl.gif

Did you call? What did they tell you when you called? Its ridiculous you have to wait so long just for one of the first steps.

Maybe you should contact your local newspaper or news channel. :-) Put the USCIS in the spot light.

Yeah I tried NYT and USA today, no luck so far!

"Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Center!"

I used to have a problem free life as well.... lol

OK this may be stupid question but........what do we do now after our noa2? do I just wait? does nvc contact my husband in his country and arrange his interview with his consolate next or does his consolate take it from here? I sent in every completed doc. I could find when I sent in the $355 fee but I read people in vj saying they recieved a form and a bill for XXXX, paid it...waited....recieved form XXXX and a bill....paid it.... So am I still going to get these other forms and bills or does the $355 cover all of it? I guess I am just worried I am forgetting to do something important now...and don't like the false sence of security..... tongue_ss.gif

You have to do some things at the NVC before you can go to the consulate. If you go to the Guides page you will find the following :

Guides if you are married
US Citizen lives in the US & Spouse lives overseas:
-----o Option 1: K3 Visa Guide, K3 Flowchart
-----o Option 2: CR-1 / IR-1 Visa and I-130 Petition Guide,
NVC Flowchart

Click on the NVC Flowchart link (its a PDF) and you will see the process at the NVC. This is also the point at which you can start Jame's Shorcut if you so choose. You can find the shortcut here: http://www.visajourn.....s's_Shortcuts

The Guide page is easy to get to, just look at the top of your screen and click on the "Guides" tab.

Unfortunately there is more money to pay. A lot more actually if you count the medical your spouse will have to have and if there is some cost for the police cert, translations of documents if necessary, and if your spouse doesn't have all of the required vaccines they will need those too.

I'm not trying to depress you, but I sure know that I would rather know about the costs ahead of time then find out at the last moment.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

Do you happen to know the costs(Approximate) of these proceedures?

Hi, please add me to your list. See my timeline below. Thanks

Hi Kiki&me,

My list is tracking December 2007 I-130 filers. It is meant to show the progress only a specific group only so that we can easily see progress of I-130 petitions filed in December. I am sorry but I feel that your timeline would throw people off if they looked at it and didn't notice your filing date. I think if you search the forums that you might find a thread that is already tracking I-130 petitions from your filing date, if not you could always start one and find others who filed the same time. That would do you far more good, as the Dec 07 timeline won't tell you anything about your progress.

Sorry again,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMore naturalizations for what ???
I just like the irony of thinking about outsourcing to India. Of course it could never happen.

I go back and forth about naturalization. There's probably something wrong with a country chock full of people who are almost citizens yet denied citizen's rights because of government delays. OTOH, there's something wrong with a country that prevents families from being together... but of course more PRs means more future citizens to be backlogged. What if my husband promises never to file for citizenship? We promise not to add to the backlog and they promise to start processing applications in FIFO order. tongue.gif

I don't think you have any recourse. Until they move that stupid date which won't be for another few weeks (plus 4th of July holiday) you won't likely be out of processing time. And at the rate they've been going, I won't even allow myself to hope we'll get out of August next time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresvisa limits on spouse visa
Congress approved the numerical limitations on visas for LPRs and for other family-based visas for non-spouses and older children (etc). They did not approve a limit on spousal or minor child visas for USCs. So that is the law.

USCIS cannot impose other limitations on USC spouse or child visas.

They may have a throughput problem. They may be mismanaged and have their own agenda. But that isn't the same thing as them imposing other non-approved limitations on visas. And I think we get into dangerous waters to suggest that they are. Reason? This is the very kind of thing that begins another round of misinformation about the USCIS process. And that can harm someone who is undertaking the journey.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting USA during immigration process
I think the issue with going back to Canada for another TN renewal makes that situation a lot different than what most US/Canadian couples go through. Most couples are visiting w/o another visa involved. Going for a TN while you're married sets off alarm bells for immigration because they think you're using one type of visa with the intention of coming to stay.
MsZFemaleCanada2008-06-22 10:19:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting USA during immigration process
My husband comes and visits all the time. Are you saying you haven't come into the US at all during this period? Wow!

Yes, you can come. Bring your ties back to Canada just in case they ask at the border, which they probably won't.

If you are not planning on staying and all you are doing is visiting, it is very legal and very doable. I'd reckon my husband has made more than 20 trips into the US since we got married. Some trips were for weekends and some were for weeks. He'll be here tomorrow night for another weekender.

So you showed that you were going bankrupt waiting for the process to complete? Are you paying the Canadian expenses too? Does she work?

What if you're not going bankrupt but are blowing wads of $$ because of two residences? How do you think that would go down with the powers that be?

Arlington, this is the IR1 forum, not the K3 forum. Further, the I-130 went in for the majority of people in the last 6 months well before their 129Fs so they are a different kettle of fish entirely.
