K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 on May 3rd, but no
Pardon my flip attitude at CSC, but I wonder if by any chance this had anything to do with the postage fee increase? I got NOA1 in March and the postage they paid was $0.371. The NOA2 arrived in June and the postage they paid for that was $0.373.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsquite upsetting

Thanks, Annette! Glad to hear you finally got it! :)

I got our NOA1 in the mail BEFORE the check was cashed, so I had no way of checking for the case #. Since you've waited a number of weeks now, nearly a full month or so, it probably wouldn't hurt to call CSC for a status. Their customer service telephone number is 800-375-5283. If your package was not organized well, it may have been difficult for them to locate your check. Things settle during shipping, so if your check wasn't paperclipped to your form well, it could have fallen anywhere in the package. I double-paperclipped my check to my I-129F form and then Acco-fastened the whole submission packet with the check purposely under the binder clip so it wouldn't get jogged during shipment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI'm so happy!!! USE Appointment Letter & Packet 4!!

Congratulations!!!

I hope my fiancee doesn't have to "run downstairs" at her condo building...she'd be going down 15 flights and I'd hate for her to fall that far!!! I bet she could do it in less than a minute if she knew it was her Packet 4. Ours just left the NVC for Manila on Tuesday, so we have a little bit longer to wait still for Packet 4! Haha. Best of luck to you, and congratz.

PhilippinesBIT WORRIED.

I took the NC CNA exam back in April, and I didn't have any problems with it. I didn't go to a full class either, I took an express course that just went over the practical skills and general information.

Depending on where you take it and how strict/mad at the world your examiner is also factors in as it's up to them if they think you met the standard.

Always remember to introduce yourself at the beginning of each skill: "Hi my name's StVF101 and I'll be your CNA today. Today we'll be doing [Insert skill here] is that all right with you? Okay, first let me give you some privacy (close the curtains) I see your bed is locked and low and I'm going to wash my hands and I'll be right back."

And at the end don't forget to ask: "Is there anything else I can do for you today? No, okay. Here's your call bell (place it within their reach) your bed is locked and low, let me open this up for you (reopen curtain) and I'm going to go wash my hands."

If you have any questions about how it goes then feel free to ask me.

Take care.

Hi, thanks for your info here, really appreciated. I will call on monday if I don't receive an appointment letter 'til tomorrow. By the way, I live in Lenoir city. I have no idea how far your city from where I live but good to know that you are from NC too. Take care and God bless.

Hello to all vj families. I'm a bit worried now of my CNA state board application for my appointment (state board exam) coz it's been 8 business days already since I mailed it thru ordinary mail and until this day, no reply from NACES, Austin, Texas. Does anybody knew here, how long does it take to get a reply from NACES? And how 'bout the test questions and skills, are they easy or hard? Need some info here, please share specially those who done their CNA state board. Thanks in advance and God bless.

And please give me some tips for my interview on August 11th at the nursing home. What are the common questions during the interview? What should I ask after the interview? Thanks in advance and God bless us all

Philippinesdo these 2 phrases mean the same thing?
I posted this in another section but didn't get a response, thought it might get a better response here.......

Hello,

My wife is in the Philippines and we have a passport problem.
She went home on a VD and while there had to get her passport switched from her ex-husbands name to mine.
She had the court certified copies of the annulment papers and of our marriage license.

The DFA said she needed to have a " PETITION FOR RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN JUDGMENT "

My question is:

Is that the same as having the papers " AUTHENTICATED" at the Philippine embassy in America?
I was told once "authenticated" in America, I can send them to her and she can take them to the DFA or NSO.

thanks,

PhilippinesBest Phone Cards to Call Philippines?
I used calling cards for quite a while and I really didn't find a single one that was dependable. you either got shorted on minutes or got a terrible connections.

I switched last month to owtel.com. After you sign up, they give you a 1-800 number to call, after you connect there, just dial the number you want and talk as long as you want. At the end of each month, they send you a bill, it's only 16 cents a minute, no hidden fees and the connection has been great so far.

Keep this in mind too.......
Your scales and the scales at the airport may be different.
If you don't want to pay the overweight fee, better keep the weight well under the limit.

I had one bag the airport said was over, I placed it on the scale in the next window and it showed it was fine.

I've read the info on the link how ever I must be stupid or something. I need to make ABSOLUTLEY sure that when I file the K1 Visa, the Boys are included & will also be accepted as I do not want to file & bring them here seprately. I will not separate the boys from their mother for any reason. I want to make sure that when she comes, so do the boys.

So if anyone has a step by step / line by line, that will ensure that I do everything right, the first time.

Philippinescountry music
Country music in the United States originated in the southern part of the United States and was influenced by the music of many countries.

It became popular in the 1940s, started in the 1920s, but has roots that go way back. Country music did originate in the south, but it started as a type of music which took instruments and styles from many of the countries of the early settlers.

For example, the fiddle is important in country music, and was brought by Scottish and Irish settlers. Strings are also important, and they came from German dulcimers, Spanish guitars, Italian mandolins, and West African banjos. Early 20th century Appalachian string bands had the fiddle, guitar, and banjo. Let’s not forget that in and around Texas, settlers interacted with Mexicans and Native Americans, who added their style to the forming country music, as well as contributing to the unique culture of Texas.

Country music came from many sources

  • It came from the hillbilly music of the 1920s. Barn dance music was catching on, and the first country song recorded was “Sallie Gooden” by Eck Robertson released by Victor records in 1922. Soon, Columbia Records began releasing hillbilly music.
  • The first female country singers to be recorded were Samantha Bumgarner and Eva Davis.
  • The steel guitar was incorporated in some early country music after Jimmie Tarlton met the Hawaiian guitarist Frank Ferera. Now you can add Hawaii as places that contributed something to country music.
  • Many artists included blues, gospel, jazz, and cowboy songs into their music. Notable country musicians of the 1920s include: Fiddlin’ John Carson, Vernon Dalhart, Cliff Carlisle, Riley Puckett, Don Richardson, Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family.
The 1930s and 1940s saw the Great Depression, which meant that fewer records were sold and people relied more on radio for entertainment. In 1925, the “Grand Ole Opry” began airing and was heard in most of the country. Early stars were:

  • Roy Acuff
  • Uncle Dave Macon
  • George Jones
  • Loretta Lynn
  • Porter Wagoner
This was the beginning of the Golden Age of country music. During this time, cowboy music was popularized in movie performances by Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, the Sons of the Pioneers, and Patsy Montana.

Bob Wills mixed country and jazz into what became Western Swing. In 1935, he added drums to the Texas Playboys and soon most country bands had added drums. This was influenced by rockabilly that became popular in the 1950s.

Hillbilly boogie started in 1939 which started the trend from country and blues into rockabilly. Notable artists of this genre were Johnny Barfield, Delmore Brothers, Arthur Smith, and Tennessee Ernie Ford.

Other genres include:

  • Bluegrass, with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs
  • Gospel music, with Red Foley
  • Honky tonk, which was associated with barrooms
Some famous honky tonk artists were Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, Al Dexter, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, and Ted Daffan.

Here are some links that may also help you to explain this tyoe of music:

Awesome feed back all I kniow that this will come in handy. Thanks

Here is another set of questions / concerns:

We know that definately, we would like to marry. I know that I would like to be able to Adopt her two boys after we get them here, mainly to give these boys a true sence of belonging to a real family. So, what would be helpful to me is the Actual, step by step (forms & applications) in which to file, at what time to file them in the order in which they need to be filed, etc. We would Love to be able to bring both boys with her when she's approved to come to the US on a K1 (we are thinking that this would be the best and fastest way) but we could be wrong, so we are once again, turning to the experts :P

Please feel free to go into as much debths on this matter as you wish as we feel that there can never be any too much of information.

Thanks

PhilippinesExpence Issues B4 Traveling
Ok all, I am planning on Going to Manila in September (actually Cavite City) to visit my SO and her 2 boys, for the first time. I will be staying at the Island cove Resort while I am there and I guess what I'm needed to know now is about how much can I expect to pay for food while I am there. I will be there for 5 days, and I am planning on paying for the 4 of us, 3 meals a day. Well acutually, 2 meals a day as the breakfest is included with the Hotel stay.

I've tried looking up the average costs for meals there but the only thing I really found was prices for the local Mcdonalds, and lord know, I sure as heck don't wish to be eating all of our meals there, LOL So, maybe someone here who has been there recently can try & give me a break down of the various costs. I do know that the resort has several establishments on site, but i am hoping to be able to get out & do a little exploration in the local area as well.

OH!! YEAH!! Does anyone know if there is a place close by to Cavite City where one can either Scuba Dive or snorkel (My favorite hobby, LOL) I have yet to find out if there are any close by public beaches there.

Thanks

To Mogambi, & sunandmoon, thank you both for your input and your taking the time to point things out to me. Yes, sometimes I can over think things (Natural worry wort ) and I hate having to find out that I did something that I shouldn't have in the first place. I guess I can say is, what I am hoping to do is, try & have most of the paperwork already pre-filled put prior to going over there. Once I am there work with her to get her & the childrens portions filled out correctly so that, as it comes time to file each piece of documents, I will already have it and not have to wait on Mr. Snail - mail to post it to me. I don't know what it costs to send a legal sized letter to her (hacen't done that yet) but I know that it costs right at $75 bucks to send one of those "If it fits, it ships" boxes from the US Post office (their upto 20lb boxes that weighed just under 5lbs) OMG!!

I will begin trying to get everything filled out once I get back home this weekend (I'm out on the road in the big truck now)

Yes Mogambi, I have been reading every detail of everything you sent & yes, it is slowly singing in. Might just be a case of too much information overload, LOL I will give it a few days to try & sink in and hopefully by the time I get home, it will all be clear to me.

sunandmoon, You stated "simply list the children in section B, question 13. that's it. trust me, I've done it" as well as "not difficult at all. if the children are coming at the same time as their mom, very easy. been there, done it. with the initial filing of the I-129f, all that needed is the children be listed, period.
at the interview stage, each child will need a separate visa application and medical. the DS Forms are the same, except the
DS-156k is not needed. since they are under 16, an NBI Clearance is not needed. don't worry, it will be a piece of cake
"

the part of each child will need a seprate visa application, does the mother get that & fill that out over there in Manila? And does each child recieve a DS form or does a DS form have to be filled out & submitted for each child. I'm assuming we are talking about the regular DS-156 form, right?

Thanks

PhilippinesLooking For a Tutorial

Not quite

Wrong form, you would file the I-129F to begin the K1 process.

My explanations in bold:

Other required documentation you will need to submit with the petition is proof that you have met in person at least once during the last two years (i.e. evidence of your trip in September) and a signed letter of intent from you and her that states you will marry each other within 90 days of her arrival in the US on a K1 visa.

Ok Lets see if i got this straight; The I-129F I fill out & submit. The left side is my info, the right side her info, Part B her Children's info. With this I am to submit along with this form, a copy of a Letter of intent (from the both of us) copies of the Airplane ticket, Hotel reciepts, (Copies of Phone calls, Chat & email messeges, etc?)recent photos of her, me & the kids together, virtually anything and everything that will give proof to our communication / relationship

Along with the I-129f I also submit at the same time, the G-325a which is to contain "My Bio Information"???? or hers, not sure. I am thinking that it is for her information? Do i fill out one for each of the kids?

Along with the I-129f, I also submit a I-134a, ON WHICH Everyones info is listed showing my affidavit of support for all 3 of them.

(I'm trying to follow & fill out each of the forms in the order in which was stated by http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide . However, the info and paperwork for the kids still remain a mystery to me, but I am still searching. ;) Thank you all for tollerating me as I know that I do have a very long way to go, however, I can not stand to be late or behind in anything I do. Again, Thanks

Great Info All, I will definately try & dig deeper. Just wasn't sure as to where to look after all of my digging. What Info can you shed on me for trying to bring her sons with her. How diffiult will it be? What extra forms / application & fees will there be, what other hoops & obstical will we run into.

Also can someone explain to me in layman terms as to just what this CFO thing is? I looked through it & from what I could gather, I take it as though I will have to be there with her to go through some kind of seminar or something in order for her to get some kind of CFO stamp or something. Is that right? If so, is this sommething that she & I can do when I go there in September? I mean, hey try & get as much done as soon as possible, right?

Thanks everyone You all have been a big help;)

PhilippinesLooking For a Tutorial
Hi Everyone,

Even though I have yet to go over to meet my SO in person for the very first time, i will be in September and sooooo Looking forward to it. We've been chatting online & on the phone for quite some time now and there is absolutely no doubt in our minds that Yes, we want to be maried to each other. As i sated in another post, she does have two children,Boys, ages 8 & 12. Both of which she has full custody of.

I've spent the past several weeks trying ti dig and browse the heaps & heaps of information on here in regards to the actual process but to my dismay have been unable to sort it all out. So, I was wondering, if it hasn't been done already, would it be possible for someone to create a full complete tutorial, step by step oin the who what where & when & how on this process?

I do know the following as i believe that this "MAY" be the right way to go about this:

File the I129 for doing a K-1 visa. That much I know. what i do not know is anything about the other forms that some say i will need to do: ie.
I-485
G-325a
I-134
I-751
I-864
I-693
I-131
I-765

OMG!! It seems soo over bearing with so many forms and applications. I could understand if she & the boys were comming from China (as my Ex did) but this is the Philippines. Cavite City to be exact.

So if anyone would be soooo kind as to put these processes in order, explain as to what information needs to go where etc that would be a great help to me.

As for documentaion of proof for her, the Boys & I, I've already assembeld aproximatelyy 2500 double sided pages containing of Emails, Daily Chats, Phone records, western Union reciepts sent to her for use for the Boys (special events for sports, going to the movies, internet and phone bills, etc) It's about 6 large boxes from which the reams of paper has come from, LOL. (I'd love to see the examiner's faces when these are placed upon their desks) There is no question as to weather or not I can support them here. I am fortunate enough to make enough so that she will not have to work if she doesn't wish to once she's here, even though she says that she wants to get back into the medical field once she's here.

Looking at all of the other forms, it justs baffels me, as some of them ask for various information on each of the kids, not enough room to type in the actual address of the SO, Some folks say that i will have to file and apply for each child seprately, others say I can do all three at the same time (in which I would rather do if possible in hopes to not only save time, but money as well)

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Do Dependents not receive biometric appointments? Wife and kids each received a NOA1 but only the wife has received a biometrics appointment letter.

My daughter is 13 and she did not get a seperate biometrics appointment letter, nor was she named on my letter. I called and asked and they reassured me that kids under 14 are not obliged to have their biometrics taken again although you still have to pay for it at the time of submitting the I-751. At my biometrics appointment I even checked with the officer there and he confirmed that it was not required. i hope this helps.

I was concerned that my daughter wasn't mentioned on the letter but after the officer in Charlotte took a look into it I was reassured that she didn't need to attend even though she will be 14 in two months. Now, whats the chances it could be approved before October 14th? I'm desperately trying to avoid renewing my NC drivers license just for 1 year!! :D

Got my biometrics appointment today for 9/8/11. It just has my name on it not my daughter (who will be 14 in November)...does that mean only I am required to attend?

Can someone update me on the list please? thanks! I'll also be trying to do an early biometrics on 9/7 as i'll be in Charlotte that day anyway.
