PhilippinesFAMILY TO ATTEND US WEDDING
Just an update, in case someone's family are also planning to apply for visa to attend their wedding. My family got approved with a multiple/10 visa. My dad works for a big oil company in the Philippines and my mom and sister have their own businesses while my younger sister is a student. They weren't asked at all for bank statements/financial proofs. The consul was more concerned w/ their ties to Philippines that would compel them to come back and they also checked my name in the fiance visa database.

PhilippinesWhat did you do with all your stuff ?
I brought 5 BIG luggages with me ,1 carry-on and a handbag. My fiance and I travelled together via Cathay Pacific. He only brought few things which he placed in my luggages so we only got charged with 1 luggage which was $160.00. It was quite pricey but I it was cheaper than having to send thru a mail service. Why don't you try calling your airline and ask the cost for excess baggage so you can compare the cost if you wanna send it thru mail.

PhilippinesHOTEL near CFO (for seminar and stamping) and near NAIA
In between Airport and CFO, you could try Trader's Hotel, in Roxas Blvd. Just go to the airport very early coz the traffic is REALLY bad.

PhilippinesWife's family demanding money
I'm so sorry to hear about this but you are not obliged to help the entire family. It would be difficult if you keep on givng them money because you're teaching them to rely solely on you. How about giving some business so the family can also work?

PhilippinesBringing a Laptop
My fiance and I travelled to USA together. He didn't have any problems at all with the laptop. In HK and NY POE, he was just asked to remove the laptop from its bag for the xray, that's all.

PhilippinesParents' tourist visa interview experience...
Hello, my family (parents and 2 sisters) got approved too! My parents are in their early 50's and still busy w/ their own careers. They were never asked for any financial proof but dad was asked more about my dad's employment at an international oil company. My sister was asked a lot too about her business. They were also asked about my fiance and I like how we met, if they already met him, etc. With my younger sis, she was only asked if she's a student, and she said yes. They also checked my name under the K1 visa database. That was all. They were all granted multiple/10.

PhilippinesGet a ticket
QUOTE (wizardfitz @ Jul 12 2008, 08:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I called several on line places, cheapoair, etc. and i was told that according to th PI government the ticket must be issues in the Philippines. Can anyone tell me how they purchased the ticket for their fiancée?

I bit the bullet and paid more than I should have for our tickets...I traveled there to spend more time with her and her family, and we flew back here together; I booked the flights here in USA. That said, another option is to ask her to inquire at local ticketing offices and get a good solid peso amount for the ticket. Trust me, it will be a few hundred dollars less than if you purchase the ticket online or at a ticketing office here in America. Anyway, have her get a peso amount, and have her inform you how much it is. Do the conversion, allowing for variances in the exchange rates, plus maybe an extra hundred or so for her to spend on herself ($100 goes a long way there, as I'm sure you know), and then send it to her via Western Union. Yes, you'll pay a decent fee to send her the money, but you'd still save on the airfare. Oh, and PAL might give her the best rates; however, you probably won't get a JFK POE if you want to get a temporary 90-day EAD stamp...we did Cathay Pacific, which is more expensive, but wasn't out of our budget at the time. Hope this helps.

PhilippinesIm MIssing Rice!!!!!
Try the thai jasmine rice that you can find at almost every grocery store and you don't have to buy rice cooker yet. You can use pot to cook your rice on the gas range/stove. I think my grandma used to do that before and I also did camping in PI when my classmate used pot to cook our rice. You can also try rice-a-roni, easy to cook with some added flavor too!

It would be better not to convert all the time coz you won't enjoy your new clothes anymore! I was also advised by other people that once I get there to stop converting too much coz I might not eat or buy anymore lol. But converting doesn't hurt as long as not done too much because it will remind us to be practical.
Anyway, enjoy your clothes! :energetic:

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
KC_MP,

1)You don't need to bring xray film at interview. 2) Are you referring to DS156K? if you are, I'm also gonna use that the expired form because it is what I got from the official embassy website. As for the other forms, I was able to get unexpiredones online. 3) I also raised the same question about this. I answered, "With work authorization, employer unknown." I followed the VJ form samples. I'm getting nervous because Im not yet prepared with the papers here for the interview hehehe. God bless you!

PhilippinesRains in CDO
I was worried about my family too! My sister told me they are ok. The water behind thehouse was already waist-deep and thank God for a cemented wall separating our house from that vacant land! If the wall wasn't there, water would surely come in. At the neighbor's which is just a house away, the water went inside their house and was knee deep. Also my family had to help rescue our family friends who live near the bridge in Opol. Thank God the car can wade through the flood or else they will be stuck in there! Let's continue to pray for the victims, residents and the weather of cdo.

PhilippinesAge difference between Filipinas and americans (Poll)
I'll throw ours in... 1155 days difference. Or 3 years and 2 months. Between the two of us, we've now about waited almost exactly 50 years combined to be married to each other, or 18266.76 days. Do the math to find out our ages. I'm older.

1 teaspoon vitamin C powder (available at any chemist)
1 teaspoon of cider vinegar
4oz.of hot water

Method
Wash hair with shampoo,rinse well.
Mix all the detoxic ingredients and rinse it through your hair, before applying an organic protein rich conditioner.

Try it girls...very healthy sa buhok:) good.gif

How often do you do detoxify your hair? I'm curious! I wana know what the subsitute for vitamin c powder is, pwede bang i-crush na lang ang vitamin c na tablet? hehehehehe

PhilippinesFlight ticket name
I am trying to book a flight for my wife to the Philippines in September. Her passport still has her maiden name and we probably will not have an opportunity to get it changed before she travels. That said, should I put her maiden name in for the plane ticket or the married last name. I personally think it doesn't matter, so long as there is sufficient evidence of marriage and residence here, ie. Green Card. Please let us know so we can book this ticket as soon as possible. Thanks.

Hi guys, I am K1 Visa holder,i will be travelling this August going to NC.

1.my mama will make the wedding dress for me (floor length,semi-serpentina, full beaded bodice)
since it wont be that engrande type of dress, my first thought is just put it inside of my checked luggage, is it wise/safe to do it that way?
2.i want to wear veil, just a simple one (yong sa likod lang di naman takip yong mukha)
- di naman kaya over-dressed ako for a court wedding? unsure.gif
3.i also think of brining with me a year supply of contraceptive pills- ok lang ba yon? di nama kaya maka aberya ako sa custom/immigration? or shall i require a letter from my ob who will prescribe me of these?

Maraming salamat mga kababayan ko.
Ingat and i hope everyone is having a good day.

I checked in my wedding gown together with my flower girls' dresses. I securely wrapped my gown in a plastic bag and then when I got here, we had it dry cleaned. Anyway, where in NC will you be?

PhilippinesPhils. Vacation
Thanks!

So can I have my passport renewed in Philippines to reflect my new last name? I don't have to do that here in USA? It will be easier for me if it's in Phils. coz we dont have the time (we're in NC) to go to Washington DC and make a personal appearance and have passport renewed. We haven't reported our marriage to Phils. yet

PhilippinesPhils. Vacation
Hello! I'm here in USA and I already have my 2 yr GC. Hubby and I are going to Phils to attend my sister's wedding on October. My mom is here in USA for vacation and will be going home to Phils on Sept.20. Our plan is I will go home to Phils with my mom since I am scared to fly alone LOL and so that I can assist my sister w/ wedding preps as her matron of honor. And hubby will fly later since he can only get 2 weeks off from work and then we come back to USA together after the wedding.

Anyhoo, to make this short, how long can I stay in the Philippines considering my 2 yr GC status? Is it ok that I will be there for a month and a few days? Do I need other docs to bring with me or file some papers before I fly etc? I'm clueless. Also, my passport is the old green one with my former last name. Should I need to have my passport renewed (the brown one) or should my old green passport suffice? It doesn't expire until 2011 as stated in the passport. I want to make sure before we go ahead and buy the tickets tonight.

Thank you so much.

PhilippinesReport of Marriage in USA
I'm currently in Cagayan de Oro for a 1 month vacation. My passport still has my maiden name and we haven't reported yet our marriage (in USA) through the Phil. consulate in WA, DC. I would like to renew my passport to reflect my married name. But before i do that, I do understand I have to report our marriage first. I'm wondering where I can report our marriage here? I really don't have any idea where and how to do that here in Philippines. Is it at DFA? City Hall? Is it advisable that I report the marriage here while I'm on vacation given the time frame I only have? Or should I just do it in USA? I also think it would be cheaper here in Philippines, if it's possible. Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC Processing speed

Aloha kakou,

Do CSC processing times seem to be picking up spped, or am I a cruel victim of wishful thinking??

Bill and Joan

You must be the victim of wishful thinking. My estimated approval date went from April 24th to May 4th in the last week. Could be many factors but who knows. I'll be wishful thinking right next to you. Ken

I'm a March filer even though I mailed the petition in on 26Feb. When I submitted my petition, and got my NOA1, I updated my timeline and it gave a date of June 10 for possible adjudication. This went as low as June 09, but now it's up to June 14. This is a weighted average of all users' experiences with this center, and many folks on here guess or estimate their NOA2's in their timelines, so I imagine when reality sets in, this causes them to change their dates which then causes the expectation date to go to a later date. We haven't had a touch since the date the check first hit my bank, 3/9, so if you were to ask me, I'd say things have gotten slower at CSC. But that's just me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 on May 3rd, but no
Pardon my flip attitude at CSC, but I wonder if by any chance this had anything to do with the postage fee increase? I got NOA1 in March and the postage they paid was $0.371. The NOA2 arrived in June and the postage they paid for that was $0.373.
