I can't see rush-mailing one piece of paper when a consular officer might not even look at it.

You should do whatever makes you comfortable. I know that I would not hesitate to rush mail one piece of paper to my fiancee even if I only thought there was a 1% chance of it being used.
DITTO
No one knows what the COs will look at and what they use to make a decision on whether there is a bonafide relationship or it's a scam.
More ammo the better!

I guess I'll FedEx her a new letter of intent. There shouldn't be any cause for the CO to think she's a scammer, though. Her intentions have always been very clear, and J did not expect to even be engaged to an American, much less with plans to even travel to visit America nearly two years ago when we first started talking. We're not what seems the typical Fil-Am couple. We're only 3 years apart in age, and we met with the intention of being only friends (no personals site or anything like that), then we discovered over time that it could be what it has turned out to be, and I know that we're happier than we've ever been.

When in doubt! Submit!

I didn't have a doubt. J has just suggested that I was supposed to send a renewed letter. If I had known or even felt I needed to do that before I sent the package to her, I certainly would have done so. I did send J some new letters in the packets I mailed to her; perhaps in lieu of no "renewed letter of intent," she could use the letters I wrote to her where I said I still looked forward to us getting married to one another soon. I feel like I'd just be pandering to a consulate officer who might not even care to read such a letter. I can't see rush-mailing one piece of paper when a consular officer might not even look at it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent question
Hello all,

This is the D part of dj1206. I've got a quick question for you all. I submitted a lot of documents to J (my better half) early this month and she just received them in the Philippines yesterday. My question revolves around whether or not I need to submit or should have submitted a new letter of intent for her K1 interview with the stack of documents or if I should have just sent the one I originally sent the one I sent with the original I-129F submission to USCIS. I did the latter, but J is suggesting I should have done the former plus the latter. I know they like to see "continuing relationship" proof, and I feel we covered that, at least up until the May timeframe, with an extra trip to the Philippines plus pictures and such (and wedding bands receipt, but is another letter of intent with a date closer to the present needed for her interview? Thanks for your prompt attention. Best-

D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes Mexican Passport Photo Count As 2X2 Photo?
Let her send you correct passport photos. It would save you a lot of time and money in the long run than having RFE.

Honestly, the door is sooo wrong! better to have pic taken at the studio who knows how to take visa/passport photos. I'm sure you wouldn't want your petition returned just because of your picture.

Hi Vann, no problem with that as long as she has taken her CFO before she travels to US with the sticker on her visa of course. I also would be travelling next year. God bless to both of you =)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdvice on my fiance's travel into America
I saw the news last night. There were 2 young ladies (sisters) who had a hard time at POE Detroit and were grilled and accused that they'll be working eventhough they have tourist visas. The officers meticulously went thru their luggages to see if they have any resumes or records about getting a job in the US. They also grilled them separately. They were so scared bec the officers scared them that they will be put in jail so they let them sign a paper to be deported back to the Phils. They had no choice but to sign it. They also said there were lots of Filipinos who were asked to go to the room. This is all I can remember. I don't wanna scare you though.

Dont get worried. K1 visa already is considered like an immigrant visa. So I don't think they'll do that. They gave hard time to those filipinos who have tourist visas coz many of those who go to america as tourist, dont go home anymore tongue.gif

laughing.gif who cares? How is this any different than people who use matchmakers or belong to the website where they can meet a millionaire?? laughing.gif

All that matters if the relationship is real no matter what it's based on. Why is it ok for a rich old coot to marry a young woman who clearly only married him for his money but god forbid someone wants to marry person in a country they want to live. If they are good to each other who cares. Even if they don't last they have the right to have a failed marriage like the rest of the people in the country.

Well, I care. I did not meet my wife through a matchmaker site or at an immigration party. And we're both Russians. And because at our wedding in Russia we had her family, my family that's still in Russia and my parents/sisters who flew in from the US.
So when I hear the "This girl/guy was paid $$$ to marry someone so they can come to this country" I say "Why should my case be stalled by all these people?"

What does that have to do with the immigration parties the OP is talking about? What does that have to do with the idea of people looking for a western spouse because they want to live in the US? Fraud happens in all aspects of life and the honest folk have to suffer for it, getting a visa is no different. However, to say which motivations are appropriate and which ones aren't is bs because people get married for all kinds of reasons.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresbooking the flight
i think it's best to buy your tickets only after your interview, just so that you know it's approved or not or having it delayed under some circumstances. however it is, if you really think that you're gonna pass the interview (which i'm sure you will)... then you can get your ticket straightaway!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPassport question.
also everything seems to be easier if, if you are changing your name, you keep your maiden name as your middle name. I didn't really want to but I did for immigration purposes - it keeps everything really transparent and easy - so if you have a driver's license in your full married name but still have a passport in your maiden name they can see easily on your driver's license that it's your maiden and not a mistake. if that made sense!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHoping for a visit
Hey! Still in a euphoric fog for having my man with me for the next few months...

He was doing a land crossing near Detroit from Canada (he just finished school there)-
his main problem was that he had forgotten to surrender his 194w when he visited for a few days in February, so he had to get them to take it and reissue him a new one - it was VERY touch and go there for a while! It didn't take the whole 3 hours he just had to wait for the next bus to come take him to the airport in Detroit... he had to use his supplemental documents to get them to believe that he had intentions to leave...

i'm SOOOOOOOOOO happy!!!!!!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHoping for a visit
Well we are trying for the improbable - a visit - my hubby has been in school in Canada for a year, and has visited sucessfully once since we started our proceeds, but now he's trying for a two month before he goes back to Ireland to wait out the process...he's got lots of paperwork with him and is prepared to be utterly transparent - so it's all up to the border guard! wish us luck everyone! i'm a wreck today waiting to hear... we'll post the whole story for better or for worse soon as he's either here...or still there.

actually he is no longer in Canada, he is visiting me in the US for a couple of months and then removing to Ireland to wait the rest of the process, as he is graduated from the program he was in canada for. So i'll call NVC tomorrow and see about it - thanks for the input, EdgarVirginia and trailmix. hopefully this won't slow us down too much!

I was just paying the fees and trying to get to the next step in this process, when i noticed that our case number starts with "MTL" - that didn't give me pause before because my husband's initials are ML so i figured maybe that's how they did the number. But then when I went to the DOS website and printed out the receipt and the instructions for NVC processing, the pull down menu says that "MTL" means "Montreal" -
is this a problem? Since his embassy is Dublin, shouldn't it be DBL??? He has been living in Canada but for less than a year, and all the documents we have sent are clearly stating he is Irish citizen.

Any insights, guys?

Thanks,

Rhiannon

Yes, if his case number starts with MTL they are assuming he wishes to be interviewed in Montreal. If he has legal status in Canada and he can prove that he is able to stay there for 6 months or more (say he has a student or work visa or is a permanent resident) he will have to submit that proof with the DS-230 - they don't ask for it when they send you the DS-230 - but they will send you an RFE if you don't include that proof.

That said, is he perhaps just visiting and will be returning to Ireland for his interview. If that is the case a call to NVC should be able to straighten this out.

Anyone else who filed at the same time received their NOA2. It has been 107 days what gives? How do I know if it has been touched? Does calling help? My lawyer said they stop receiving calls because of the backlog, this is very sad.

We have the same 1NOA date. In one fashion or another I have been involved with K-1 / marriage based type visas since 2000,let me give you the best advise on visas. There is no logic, it is not first in first out you are dealing with a government. Although we have the same 1 NOA date , one of us may be approved weeks or months before the other. The old INS now USCIS has always been behind, over worked, under paid, over stressed or what ever the excuse of the day is. One service center sometimes processes the same petition months faster than other. You can live in one state and your buddy in another and he gets his approval 2 months before you. I know it's hard to do but try to forget it, when it happens it happens and there's not much you can do. If all goes well we should get our 2NOA in November-December.

Yes, your wife is the person you are sponsoring in "a"
you are the person in "b". If you were sponsoring someone else then your wife would be counted in "c". i read it in one of the guides before i did m papers.

So I would do it this way?

a) 01
B.) 01
c) 01

then at the bottom where it says to add them up, just put 02?

thank you

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAOS part 5 number 21 question
I know I read this a while ago but can't find it now.........

I am going through an IR-1 through manila.

On the AOS for NVC, part 5 number 21 asks for your household size.

It says:

persons you are sponsoring in this affidavit:
a) enter number in line 10
b.) yourself
c) if you are currently married, enter "1" for your wife
d)......
e)......
f).......
g)......
It says not to use anyone twice, but my wife is included in both "A" and "C"

How do you fill this section out?

Thanks in advance

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Process
Hi guys,

I have couples question, hope you guys can answer for me

I paid the fee AOS, and IV fee,
- *Do i have to wait for send in the Affidavit of support paper work? I-864 forms

I read about all the I864 and I86A - but they are little confusing for me. English is not my first language.
- This years my income doesn't meet the requirement to support my wife. So i have to ask my parents to help as a join sponscer.
- I fill out I-864 for myself, my dad fill his I-864....his total income includes my mom ....SO she has to complete a I-864A with my dad.
That is what i understand from the immigrantvisas.state.gov . They have join taxes paper work, so
*Do they have to include the marriage cert. with the form I864A? and other question
*Do I have to fill out a I86A with my dad?

Thank you very much
