K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview question

There is no way I have enough time to get the original I-134 now - it's on the way to me, it has been for weeks. That package never arrived. There's no time to do another one now, either. I leave for Rio tomorrow morning, my interview is on Tuesday morning, and even overnight mail takes 3 days to arrive here. :(

Oh man how can I NOT freak out about this? What happens if they don't accept the copies? Will they reschedule? :(

Don't go into the interview looking worried or stressed. At this point there is nothing you can do about any missing or incorrect documents. Just go in confident and relaxed...if they happen to need further documents, they will ask for it. Try to relax...take a long walk and think positive thoughts...thoughts that you are approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWonderful News to Start a Wonderful New Year!!!
Hello everyone… smile.gif
I’m very happy to share our good news. After long months of waiting and after all the frustrations we experienced during the process, we received the good news at last. It is such a wonderful news to start our New Year. smile.gif Thank you Lord!!!

I’m scheduled for the Medical Exam on February 1, 2008 and the Interview Appointment on February 8, 2008. biggrin.gif I have the entire month of January to compile the necessary documents and be ready for my interview.

And yah, we are happy about it… I am very happy about it but at the same time nervous and scared too. sad.gif It’s so… gosh, this is really it. Aside from the preparation for the medical and the interview, I also need to prepare for the “BIG TRIP” in joining my fiancé by February. Moving my things back to my parents place, shipping some of it to my fiancé, start composing my resignation letter at work (one of the biggest step sad.gif ), saying goodbye to family and friends (one of the hardest part), and changing address for bills and payables (gosh, by the time I’ll resign from work, can no longer afford to pay the bills the following months, heheheh). tongue.gif

Seriously, this is one of the things that I have been waiting for. Next to this are my K1 visa and then the big day, our Wedding Day. And now that it’s starting to unfold, I’m feeling so scared and so nervous. I’m quite confident that things will work out right. It’s just the mix feelings of being happy, excited, scared, and nervous is not easy to “entertain” at the same time. And so I guess, speaking it out will help. smile.gif

At 32, my life will have that 360 degree change! Isn’t that exciting!!! biggrin.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan we get married here in the Philippines after I can have my K1 Visa?
Good day every one!

I need your sound advice please...:-( My fiance and I are applying for K1 visa and we are still waiting for our petition to be approved. Our question is, can we get married here in the Philippines after my K1 visa is issued and before i'll fly to the US to join my fiance? We both want to have a wedding ceremony here in the Philippines in the presence of my family but we don't know if that is "legally advisable" to have a wedding ceremony after my K1 visa is issued.

Our plan is to get married here first if that is legally allowed (after K1 is issued) or have the Philippine wedding later after we'll get married in the US. Coz I think if we'll get married now, we need to change our petition from K1 to K3, right? And I heard K3 would take time.

Any body out there having a sound advice?
We would really appreciate it.
Thank you very much.

Hello Everyone,

Here I go again needing some advise and urgent assistance. The situation is this... my fiance have already finalized the plan of visiting me. He got his ticket already and departure date would be on October 20th, that's 7 days from now. He'll arrive in Manila on the 21st (Sunday) from the US. I have also booked his ticket from Manila-Cebu-Manila and my round trip ticket as well coz I'm going to meet him in Manila. Everything is ready, the plan is final... tickets are booked and paid as well as the hotel reservation.

Now the problem is, as I composed this email, my fiance is looking for his passport which is somehow gotten lost and he can't find it in the house. He's looking for it all over the place BUT his passport is nowhere to be found... huhuhu... Everything is ready... BUT NO PASSPORT.

So I'm really asking for your help guys... please, please... Let us know where and how we can get him a new passport before the trip which is just 7 days away... PLEASE. I have searched on line and I found an expedite service of a third party like American Passport Express and Passport Express. Are they legit? Anybody out there knows how my fiance can obtain a new passport before his trip.

We wanted to see each other so much and not to forget that his plane ticket is nonrefundable as well as our round trip tickets which I have just booked. :-(

We need miracle...
I was so excited about the trip days ago...
But I feel like crying out loud just now...:-(

Good Lord help....:-(

Oh Lord..he can't get his new passport if he lost it because they are so strict in PI..they have to process his Passport for 15 working days..that is how the DFA in Philippines does when a person lost his/her passport..

Where did he have it last? Has he ever used it?

The last time he used it was during his last visit in the Philippines last May. And then he photocopied it when we filed the petition last June. And that's 5 months ago...:-(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs getting pregnant while waiting for K1 visa advisable?
Hello Everyone,

Happy weekend to all! I've been wanting to post this question days after my fiance confirmed his plan of visiting me again. We haven't seen each other in five looooooonnnnngggggg months and really excited to be together again. Well, now I guess I have to just be direct with my question... blush.gif

If I get pregnant (with my fiance of course) while waiting for the approval of our I-129F petition, will that situation harm us in a way? I mean, if ever I'll found out that I am pregnant before the schedule of my medical exam, will that situation disqualify me to have my K1 visa approved? Is that acceptable at all? Will it accelerate the approval of the visa or the opposite?

Me and my fiance are very open to the idea of having a baby?
But I'm curious if getting to "that" situation now can harm our process.

Everybody's sound idea will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWE ARE APPROVED TODAY!
Congrats! I am happy to know that at least the process is moving. This would inspire us too, those who are close in line... By the way, my fiance tried to call that number too but he didn't get to talk to someone, it was always just an automated voice giving directions.

And oh, i need to ask this question. I mean this has been our concern for the past weeks. My fiance and I want to know if you heard something from USCIS before you have the approval notice. I mean any form of communication at all like mail from the post, a request for something, or an email asking for just anything. Coz we're getting paranoid that USCIS ask something from us but didn't get to receive it. What we want to know is that after NOA1, and if there's no RFE's at all, is NOA2 the next thing you heard from USCIS?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForgot Password & Answer to Question on File at USCIS
I totally forgot my password and also the answer to the question on file which is used by USCIS in case a user forgets his/her password. I want to monitor and check our status online but can't do that now coz I cannot login. My fiance have forgotten his password also. Is it ok to create a new account using a new "user name" and a new email address? I tried creating one and it says I cannot proceed coz the email address already exist, and that duplicate account will be deleted. If I'll use another email adress, is it just ok? I'm afraid they'll notice another username monitoring the same Receipt Number. I'm being ####### coz I don't want to cause problem to our case.

Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion About Affidavit of Support
Good day everyone!

I have some questions about Affidavit of Support, please. My fiancé and I is on the process of preparing the Affidavit of Support (I-134). We had our petition approved just two weeks ago.:-)

Well here’s the scenario. My fiancé was self-employed for many years until January this year. Then last February 2007, he was hired for a full time job and earning 35K a year. We know that he’s earning more than the required 125% of the poverty level for a family of three. Now our concern is that for the past 3 years, 2 out of that 3, his income was not able to reach the required 125% of the poverty line. We’re afraid that this would cause a problem to my K1 application at the embassy.

Do we have a ground to be worried? Do we need a co-sponsor? Or his being a full time employee now and earning more than the 125% of the poverty level is sufficient enough? We want to be prepared just in case the embassy will be very ####### about his income for the past years and question his capability to support me though his income now has met the requirements.

Your insights will be gladly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeneficiary Gets Pregnant During I-129F Process
I have also asked the question about pregnancy issue weeks before my fiance visited me last month. I got some replies saying that it will not matter at all if the beneficiary will get pregnant while K1 petition is in process. But I would suggest that you have to ask at the Embassy if they'll need something from you like a letter stating that the baby is yours. And I think, you will then need to prove your capability of supporting a family of three now instead of just you and your fiance. I am not an expert to it so I would say, ask the embassy in Manila.

As to the travel condition for pregnant women here in the Philippines. What I have heard from my friends who got pregnant is that they were asked by airlines and/or shipping lines to present a doctor's certificate stating that they are fit to travel. The certificate should be issued by her OB. And the airline company will also ask the passenger to sign an affidavit that in case something will happen to the pregnant passenger during the duration of the trip, the company is not liable and should not be held liable for any unforeseen incident or anything bad that will happen to the pregnant passenger on the duration of the trip.

Good luck to you and your fiancee.
And cheer up coz you got yourself a blessing. :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOh yeah Part B of the I129-F
If it's for question #14, it should be the fiance's address in the US. And if it's for question #15, it should be the address abroad, in your case, in Tunisia.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresother names used
If the name she's using now is the family name of her biological parents and is also the same to the name reflected in her birth certificate then there's no problem at all. And that's the name on her passport anyway, so that's good. What she needs for the process are her birth certificate and passport, so she's in good shape.

Actually, we are on the same boat, though mine was just the misspelling of my name. Since elementary until college, i used the incorrect spelling of my name. I only shifted to the correct spelling during my last semester in college coz it was required for graduating students. What i mean is that my name should match to the exact entry in my birth certificate. Shifting to the correct spelling only during my last semester in college means that my school records from elementary to high school bears the incorrect spelling. Though it was just "incorrect spelling", the law still considered that as "other" name. But I didn't have any trouble at all coz after requesting the change of name, the university worked on the correction of my old school records. I was informed that they had sent request to my old schools to make the correction. I guess they have a certain process for that.

What's really important is that the name she's using now matches to her birth certificate issued from NSO. Actually, her previous name can be considered as a "ghost name" coz there's no documentation to that and as far as NSO is concern, that person does not exist. I believe the term "other name" is only for those people who have two or more "legal" names.

But if you want to be sure about it, you can consult a lawyer.
Have a nice day and good luck.

Hello Everyone,

Good day! :-) We are happy to hear some of the good news being shared from fellow VJ members. We also observed that there are some June filers who already have the appointment date for medical and the interview. We have this positive feeling that ours will be soon also.

We just have one quick question, please. :-) Those who had tried calling NVC and were able to talk to one of the NVC staff, what is the best time you can recommend to call NVC? We don't know yet if our case is already received by NVC from CSC.

We would really appreciate your input.

Thanks & regards,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Not So Good News From NVC
It has been 4 weeks and 1 day since the approval of our case from California Service Center. Just this week, my fiance and I decided to make inquiry at NVC if our case is already received. We both tried to make the call, you know, thinking we can increase our chances of getting through the line and speak to an operator. I didn't get lucky and my 17 minutes (tried 7x) - total long distance call was wasted, but well, I don't mind.

Anyway, the GOOD news is that my fiance was able to talk to an operator (he tried 4x), but the SAD news is that he didn't get information about our case because NVC didn't received the case yet though it's been more than 4 weeks already since our approcal. The lady at NVC said to give it another week. As in it's frustrating, and yes, no choice at all but to keep on waiting. My fiance is just glad that the lady was very nice. We're hoping we can have a good news by next week.

And oh, those who want to call, the time my fiance called NVC was around 10-10:30AM EST...
Good luck to those who are intending to call...
Wish you can have a good news and obtain your case number.

Just wanted to share...:-(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhats the latest gossip on NOA 2 csc to nvc
Ok, I feel really restless knowing that it’s more than 5weeks from our NOA2 date. And feeling more and more frustrated after calling NVC and still our case is not yet received. After “drowning” myself in frustration, I tried to check the timelines for the past months. I only check the time it took NVC to receive petitions from USCIS, particularly at CSC. I checked on the months of August, September, and October. I only noted the case which has the most number of days to get to NVC. So far, those who are approved in October (like us) and still waiting for petition to be received at NVC, are not part of the October data below.

Attached File  comparison.JPG   23.15KB   6 downloads

So far, for the month of September, I found an entry which took 49 days to get to NVC. And there were cases in August which took 83 and 64 days to reach NVC. As in yeah, really a long wait.

Well now, I'm quite hopeful that ours is getting there already.... it's just taking a few twist and turns.
And yes, I'm just trying to find some reasons to quit torturing ourselves from this long wait. :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhats the latest gossip on NOA 2 csc to nvc
For ours... it's really, really, really so frustrating especially every time I'll check the Immigration Timelines and noticed that those who got their petition approved after our NOA2 already are making progress towards the interview.

I just made a call to NVC 5 minutes ago and was able to talk to an operator and I was informed that they haven't received our case yet from CSC. As in what the ****...:-( It's been 5weeks and 4days already. Our NOA2 was October 29 and gosh, where's our case now? We waited months for NOA2, now do we need to wait another months for NVC to receive it? It's so freakin drivin us nuts...:-( Sorry, I just can't help it...:-(

I was asked by the NVC representative when we had our NOA2. I told her the date and that it has been more than 5weeks already. Then she said that they'll make action only after 90 days... As in WHAT????

I'm really wondering how come that those petitions accepted after October 29 are already forwarded and received at NVC. Where is ours? Jumped out of the box? :-(
Sha and ScottNot TellingPhilippines2007-12-04 22:50:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about the NVC...
I guess it's best to call NVC after 3 or 4weeks. As to our case, we started calling NVC after 4weeks and until now they haven't received our approved petition yet. We were approved last October 29. It's been 39 days already. I think you still have few weeks to wait coz you had your NOA2 Nov. 28... For your case nothing to worry for now.

My fiance made a 4-pages photo album, each of the pages contains 4 pictures. He put details in every picture and also the date when it was taken. Actually, he selcted pictures during his visits and made a short description of when/where it was taken. He used a not-so-thick photopaper in printing. It actually save us space and it was not that bulky. We didn't encounter any problem at USCIS about it. They have approved our petition already.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 approved 5 weeks ago at CSC, still NVC has no info. what to do ?
I called NVC and I was informed that they got our case and it was already sent to the Embassy yesterday (December 12). That's more than 6 weeks after NOA2. :-(

But well, we're grateful that our process in on the move again.
The delay was frustrating but we're still glad it was not lost. :-)

Oh wow Jesse G, that's good news...:-)
Congrats...:-)

I just logon at Visa Journey, i miss this after not being able to visit yesterday...:-) Yah, i'm feeling guilty coz at work I would try to "sneak" to this site.

By the way, just an update. My fiance called USCIS (CSC) yesterday and he was able to talk to one of the customer rep. He was told that our petition was already sent to NVC first week of December, so that's last week. I'm wondering how many days would it take to reach NVC. Anybody here knows about it?

Wow, that's good news!!! :-)
If Sam's case is already received, then we can expect that ours is getting there also...
But, yes, Jesse G, I'm expecting your case will get there ahead of ours...
You were approved October 25...:-)
But well, they might be in the same box, hopefully...:-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI Need Help Please
I really need some help in here, please. :-( I'm trying to book a one way flight from Cebu (or Manila) to US using online booking engines. I was able to find some "really" good deals but my problems are these:
1. If I'll use my credit card, they would only allow cards issued in the US or Canada. :-(
2. If I'll use my fiance's credit card, there is a "requirement" that the passenger's name should match the name in the credit card.

As in goodness, why are they making it hard on us? :-( I found one booking engine which accepts credit cards issued from other countries aside from the US and Canada, BUT I cannot find Philippines in the country drop-down, so I still can't book the flight. It's so frustrating! Goodness!!!

Anyone in here has some suggestions on what to do? Or anybody knows a site which would allow bookings for credit cards issued from other countries aside from the US or Canada?

I have Visa and Mastercard, and I prefer buying online coz it is much cheaper compared to travel agencies here in our area. I just need a booking engine which would accept my credit card.

I would really appreciate some help guys.
Thank you very much!

PhilippinesFed ex fees
It depends on how much is the declared amount of the package. Also, it depends on who is the (fedex crew) holding the package. Some charge fees and some don't.
