PhilippinesNovember NOA2 approvals for USEM interviewers
Though ours was approved October 29... We're thinking it goes with the group of NOA2 for November coz it still have a status of "touch" last November 1... And we haven't received the NVC letter yet... We're hoping for an interview by January...:-) Keeping our fingers crossed...

PhilippinesSuggestions on how to make LAMBING long distance!
Send her flowers with matching love notes... You can order flowers on the internet and have it delivered to her house or at work... It would really be effective if you'll have it delivered at work coz her friends and officemates can witness it... It's one of the women's weaknesses... It worked for me... biggrin.gif

And when the woman is having "tampo", try not to dig up for more about the argument at hand. Let her have a little break from the argument but keep on being sweet to her.

Oh well, the things above worked for me... I guess others have their own opinion too...:-)

PhilippinesTO ALL CEBUANO!
Heheheh... djturbo is funny...:-)

Well, marie_9, if you love beaches, I'd say Bantayan Island is the best place to see. I had visited the island and really enjoyed coral watching. I've seen the most beautiful coral in the area... more beautiful than the one you'll find in Camiguin (had visited there too). There is also Malapascua island which is the "little Boracay" here in Cebu province. And if you don't want to travel long hours from the city proper (most beautiful beaches are 3-4 hours from Cebu City), you can stay in Plantation Bay (Mactan), very expensive though, but also a beautiful place to spend a vacation. There are many resorts in Mactan island but their shoreline is not that beautiful, and very expensive.

As to places to visit in the city, there is Magellan's cross, Basilica de Sto. Nino, and the Taoist Temple. wink.gif Don't know much of the rest coz I really prefer island hopping. smile.gif

PhilippinesTO ALL CEBUANO!
Yeah, Pit Senyor! Cebu is really full pack with tourists and people from other provinces. You know, this year's celebration is the biggest one coz there are 30 contingents. Actually, I'm just watching it on TV coz I'm a "little" afraid to make "ki-at" outside coz I'll have my early medical next week. I don't want to be sick. We have the unusual weather again.... rain shower and sunshine. But still I enjoy the preseantation on TV and I'll watch fireworks tonight at Ayala. :-)

Viva Senyor! Sinulog i-syagit ug kusog, PIT SENYOR, PIT SENYOR!!! :-)

Oh, I had inquired with a travel agency also here in Cebu. The price quotation that they gave me is $915 (Cebu to JFK). :-( And that's for Feb. 23 or March 1 trip.

Hi Deezee, may I know the name of the agency that you have contacted, please. I inquired at Golden JC in Ayala.
Thanks.

PhilippinesAFFIDAVIT OF DISCREFANCY
I agree with Jom, she doesn't have to get any affidavit or permission from any body or the father of the child even if the father's name is indicated in the BC. They are not married so there's no "legal" battle in the that. She has the sole custody of her child. BUT I would suggest that she'll consult with DSWD or a lawyer to be sure.

I'm not so sure if it was for the X-Ray result. I just noticed it when the guy got my X-Ray result there was this folder on top of it with my name and the words "Class C" written on top of my name. Then he took the rest of my files from the nurse and combined it together.

I'm just curious about what it means that's why I asked.

I stayed at Cherry Blossoms hotel last week during my medical. It was roughly 30 minutes from the airport (the domestic airport). But it could depend on the traffic. There was a bumper-to-bumper traffic when I headed to the airport from the hotel that time.

Yes, you can have your passport stamp in Manila as long as you'll have the certificate with you. The certificate will be issued right after the seminar. Just bring it when you'll fly to Manila.

Hello Frank-lyn… I’m also from Cebu with interview date on Feb.8. I’m done with my CFO seminar already. I had it at St. Mary’s, infront of Boy’s High (Mango Avenue). I prefer to have the seminar early so I’ll just go directly to CFO office to have the stamp. If you live within Cebu City, you can have the seminar early. There’s no hassle at St. Mary’s. They’ll give you the certificate after the seminar and you’ll bring it at CFO office for the stamp once you’ll have your visa. The CFO office is near DFA (also near Sto. Niño church).

Sha and ScottNot TellingPhilippines2008-01-29 09:47:00
PhilippinesDS FORMS
For the DS 156 forms, I filled them up online and printed the finished forms. I used a good quality bond paper. For the DS 157 form, I just payed the visa fee this morning and then the bank teller asked me if I have a filled up DS 157 form with me. I said yes and I handed to her. She then validated the back of my already-filled up DS 157.

I think if you have the filled up DS 157 form with you they will use it and would only give you the blank and machine validated DS 157 if you don't have the already-filled up form.

With my DS 157 form, I filled it up on line coz I have to attach an extra sheet for my answers to quesitons #12 and #17. The space on the box is not enough for my answers. I attached an extra sheet and named it "Attachment A".

I booked at Bayview 3 weeks ago for my Interview this coming Friday. I choose it coz it's just a walking distance from the Embassy. I didn't have a hard time with the booking. I booked using Hoteltravel.com and it was just easy. I got it for $56 per night. In some sites it is even higher than that. I find Hoteltravel.com to be very convenient. PhilippinesMy Interview Expereince - Thank You Lord
At last I now have the time to post my interview experience. It feels like I’ve been away from Cebu for months. A lot of things had happened and it seems like the past days were just a dream. For someone like me who loves the “way of living” in Cebu, my days in Manila was a riot. Though I had the chance of living in Manila for a year, my experience last week was exhausting but of course it was very rewarding.

I stayed at Bayview Park Hotel. As to proximity, it’s the perfect place to stay coz it’s just across the Embassy. But I have to say that I don’t like the service of the hotel. Their staffs are not “that friendly” at all and they are not efficient also. As to the quality of their system, it needs a lot of improvement. They are not organized and you have to wait for a long time during check-in. I waited for 30 minutes before I got my key card. I was already starving. My plane arrived around 12 noon at NAIA and I was able to have my lunch around 2pm. My knees were already shaking. A piece of advice, if you’re from the Visayas or Mindanao, it would be best to fly to Manila two days before your interview appointment so you’ll have enough time to settle at the place where you would stay and an ample time to relax mentally and physically. About me, my flight was Thursday and my interview appointment was Friday. I flew early from Cebu but I was tired and exhausted when I arrived in Manila. I guess the exhaustion was also due to having to report at work the day before my flight. It would also be best if you’ll file an early leave of absence from work before your trip to Manila, maybe a day before your flight.

Well, on the day of the interview, I woke up at 3AM and even requested for a wake-up call to be sure I will not miss my appointment just in case my alarm will not work. I only had Graham crackers and water for breakfast. The hotel will not allow food delivery so I have to settle for crackers. ? I was “ready to go” around 4:30AM. I checked my papers again after having my “breakfast”. My room was just right across the Embassy and I kept on looking down over my window to check the activity outside. I was on the ninth floor and it was hard for me to see the activity at the entrance of the Embassy. What I can see from above was just the lights on the trees. I end up going down around 5:15AM and yeah, it was already crowded outside and those with 6:30AM appointment were already allowed to get in. Not inside the Embassy but to line up on the benches near the entrance. Before 6AM, the guards had started admitting those with 6:30 appointment. Bags were checked and make sure you don’t have any electronic gadgets with you. There was this lady ahead of me and she was bringing a bottle of body spray. The guard actually asked her to spray it on her body. Well, not the entire bottle of course. They were just making sure that it was a body spray. There was also a lady who was bringing bottled water and the guard asked her to drink a portion of it.

After being checked at the entrance, we were allowed to get inside and asked to occupy the rows of chairs near the CR. This area is also facing the windows were the Filipino pre-screeners are stationed. The guard in that area called us by rows to submit all DS forms on the window located beside the CR and situated on the left side of the rows of chairs. Be sure that your Visa Photos are glued on the DS form. You can also leave the bags containing the rest of the documents and just bring the DS forms when you’ll approach that window. In this window, you’ll be given your queuing number and you can return to your seat after that. Please be on watch coz the numbers are called in random. There are three sets of numbers, these are 70**, 60**, and 50**. The 70** are those for K-applicants. And they will flashed these numbers on the queuing board in random, so keep a close watch.

I noticed that those windows queuing for the pre-screening are up to Window 27. Windows 28, 29, 30, 31, and 44 are for the interview with the consul. Windows 33 and 34 are for the finger scanning and Windows 37 and 38 are for the final instructions, this will include the issuing of the pink slip, instruction for Delbros, and instructions for additional documents that they might ask.

Ok, back to the process. I waited until 9:30AM before my number was flashed on the queuing board. I was assigned on Window 18. The Filipino pre-screener was very nice and she didn’t give me a difficult time at all. Before she started to ask me questions, she instructed me for finger scanning. In some cases, the finger scanning and the interview with the pre-screener are done separately. With mine, I had the finger scanning before the pre-screener proceeded with the pre-interview. Here are the questions she asked:
1. What’s your name?
2. Who is your petitioner?
3. Where did you meet your petitioner? When and how?
4. How many times did he visit?
5. When was the last time you saw him?
6. Is he divorce? When was it finalized?
7. Does he have kids? Is it with his ex or with other woman?
8. Have you ever been married before?
9. Do you have children?

Then she asked for my fiancé’s Affidavit of Support, Employer’s Letter, and his 2006 income tax, and our pictures. She checked the income tax return and then gave it back to me. She said that I can give it to the consul if ever I’ll be asked for it. I offered to give her my fiancé’s Pay Stubs but she said, “It’s ok, just have it ready and hand it to the consul if you’ll be ask for it.” Then she instructed me to go back to my seat and wait for my turn to be interviewed with the consul.

I waited for 25 minutes before my number was flashed on the queuing board again. I was assigned on Window 30. I waited for approximately 3 minutes before I went inside the room. There was a chair outside the door and you’ll be instructed to wait until the one being interviewed inside will get out. The consul was very nice. I think he’s on his 50’s. He said, “Good morning Ma’am, have a seat.” I replied “good morning”. He was checking on my papers. Actually I noticed that it was the documents we sent to USCIS. And he asked me to raise my right hand and took oath. After that he said, “I need to verify your finger prints first.” He instructed me put my left thumb finger on top of that “Reader/Scanner” instrument (I don’t know its exact name). ? He said, “Hmm, it does not match, ok use your left middle finger.” I did that but then it doesn’t match. He then gave me a tissue and asked me to wipe the surface of the “reader/scanner”. After that he said, “Ok, use your left index finger this time”. I did as instructed and he said, “Ok, verified”. I sit down again and waited for him to start. The questions he asked me are the following:
1. What’s your name?
2. Who is your petitioner?
3. How many times did he visit?
4. When was the last time you saw him?
5. Is he divorce? When was it finalized?
6. Does he have kids?
7. Have you ever been married before?
8. Do you have children?

And then he browsed our papers again, signed some of the pages. He also read the Employment Letter of my fiancé. Checked the Affidavit of Support and filed it on top of our folder. He checked our pictures and he made some notes and he said, “Ok Ma’am, that’s all I want to ask, thank you. You can wait outside for your name to be called for further instruction.” I didn’t have the guts to ask if I am approved. I just assumed that everything is ok base on his facial expression. And he kept on saying “Ok, ok, ok” as he scanned our papers. The interview only lasted for 5 minutes. The questioning was only for 2 minutes. Another two minutes was consumed during the verification of my finger prints and 1 minute for the time he spent on checking our documents. I was relaxed all the time during that 5-minute period and there was no problem at all. I believed the expression on the consul’s face helped me relax. He was very welcoming and polite. It was like talking to an Uncle whom I haven’t seen for a long time.

After that I went back to my seat to wait for my name to be called at Window 37 or 38. And this was the part where I experienced some stress. Around 10:30AM, I was called to approach Window 38. I lined up coz they were calling names by batch to approach that window. When it was my turn, the guy at Window 38 asked me if I have made the payment for Document Verification. I said yes and showed the photocopy and the original copy of the receipt from the bank. He stapled the photocopy on my docs. Then he browsed through my papers and noticed something. He said, “Hmm, ba’t andito to, may kulang.” My heart skipped a beat after hearing that… Then he said, “Ok, wait for awhile coz I need to ask the consul something. I waited and then after 3 minutes he came back and instructed me to go back to my seat and wait for my name to be called again. I was really feeling a little nervous that time, wondering what could be wrong. That was 10:30AM and the clock strikes 12, still I didn’t hear my name being called. We heard instructions over the speaker that we may take our lunch and be back at 1pm. We’ll just have to use our queuing number at the entrance and so the guard would let us in.

I had my lunch at Chowking along with two Bisaya I meet inside. One of my companions was also waiting for her name to be called at Window 37 or 38. And oh, before we left the embassy, we approached the lady facilitator at the Immigrant Visa section and told her about our concern. She instructed us to approach her once we get back inside the Embassy so she can relay it to the staff stationed at Window 38. After lunch, we approached the lady and she asked for our names and queuing numbers. Around 1:10PM, my name was called again. The guy at Window 38 asked me if he already gave me any instruction and I said “No”. He then asked what window did I have my interview. I said “Window 30”. He said, “Ok, go back to your seat and wait for your name to be called”. As in golly, my tummy was in a riot. The rows of chairs near the CR, which was fully occupied that morning was starting to be emptied out. There were only three of us waiting on that section. I kept on glancing to the lady facilitator with that worried look on my face. She gave me a smile and said, “Don’t worry Ma’am, you’ll be called and everything will be ok.” I asked her if there’s a possibility that I’ll be asked to return the next working day (which would then be Monday coz my appointment was Friday). She said “No” and that I’ll be done before 5PM. Well, for me who was doing the “waiting”, it was a torture coz I don’t know if there was something wrong with my docs.

Well, I waited until 2:30PM before my name was called again and it was from Window 37. The guy at this window was very nice. He gave me the pink slip which was attached to my letter of appointment and he instructed me to pay Delbros for the visa delivery fee. He advised not to make travel plans yet coz they’ll be waiting for the result of the Document Verification. Actually, I heard them say that to all applicants. I asked the guy if they still need any document from me. He said “No” and returned the pictures I gave to the pre-screener. And then I made a follow up question if everything is ok. He answered, “No, just pay Delbros and then you can go home.” I paid Delbros and exited the Embassy around 2:45PM. I was so relieved! As in gosh, the waiting was really a torture, but thank God everything was ok! good.gif

Wow, that's good news, I'm happy for you! I'm also from Cebu and interviewed last Feb. 8... You were interviewed Feb 7, so, most probably (I hope so), my Visa will be on its way soon also.

By the way, what reference number did you use in texting Delbros? The Case number or the Tracking Number? I noticed that the Tracking Number is just the Case Number + two digit. Mine is like this: MNL2007844***01.

And oh, I'm going to include you in the update for the Visa Tracking...:-)

PhilippinesI Need Help Please
I really need some help in here, please. :-( I'm trying to book a one way flight from Cebu (or Manila) to US using online booking engines. I was able to find some "really" good deals but my problems are these:
1. If I'll use my credit card, they would only allow cards issued in the US or Canada. :-(
2. If I'll use my fiance's credit card, there is a "requirement" that the passenger's name should match the name in the credit card.

As in goodness, why are they making it hard on us? :-( I found one booking engine which accepts credit cards issued from other countries aside from the US and Canada, BUT I cannot find Philippines in the country drop-down, so I still can't book the flight. It's so frustrating! Goodness!!!

Anyone in here has some suggestions on what to do? Or anybody knows a site which would allow bookings for credit cards issued from other countries aside from the US or Canada?

I have Visa and Mastercard, and I prefer buying online coz it is much cheaper compared to travel agencies here in our area. I just need a booking engine which would accept my credit card.

I would really appreciate some help guys.
Thank you very much!

PhilippinesIn Shock
Oh gosh, that's very sad! I have read a post just late last year, I guess the 3rd quarter of last year. The fiancee admitted on taking drugs and she was denied. BUT don't jump to that conclusion, let's pray and hope she'll still be considered for a visa approval.

I'm just wondering... I had my medical last week and the doctor didn't ask me about that question. Is that something they would ask randomly? Oh well, I have never ever done drugs in my whole life. The first question she asked me is about my fiance's name and my course in college. Then after that she then asked my medical history like when was the last time I was in the hospital, any major or minor operation, if i'm taking any medicines or multi-vitamins, if I have scars, and then she asked me to disrob and yeah, she checked everything.

PhilippinesWill there be a “significant” impact if I would arrive during the day or night time on my POE?
I’m able to find a good deal from a Travel Agency here in Cebu. I considered it a good deal coz it’s the cheapest fare I have encountered, so far. It’s a choice between Korean Airlines and Cathay Pacific. I have booked for these flights but I haven’t purchased the ticket yet. I’m still trying to finalize my decision.

With Korean Airlines, its $705 including taxes with route: CEB-Seoul-JFK. ETA: 10:50 AM
And then with Cathay Pacific, its $738 including taxes with route: CEB-HongKong-JFK. ETA: 9:25 PM

The cheapest I found online is $800+ including taxes but the site will not allow me to book the flight coz my credit card is issued in the Philippines. So I consider purchasing the ticket with a local travel agent.

My concern for now is choosing for the best “time frame” for my arrival. Will there be a “significant” impact if I would arrive during the day or night time at my POE? I mean, when it comes to difficulties with Immigration, is it likely to encounter problems with Immigration Officers assigned on a night shift? Or it’s no big deal at all whether it would be during the day or night time?

I would really appreciate some inputs for those who have an idea.
Your opinion is very much welcome.
Thank you!

From what I have read in this site, yes you need to pay P650 to Delbros. It is even suggested that payment should be made 2 weeks before the interview.

By the way, I need suggestions please. I paid P650 for Delbros today. Had deposited that amount at Metrobank this morning. I tried to send text messages to Delbros but haven't received any confirmation yet. Had sent more than a dozen text messages already. I use all capital letters and I even tried sending it in two format based on the example in the pdf file from USEM. Anybody have an idea at all? I mean I already followed the procedure, but no reply from their end.
How long should I wait to receive a confirmation from them? And anybody knows about the contact number of Delbros? Please....

I just received my Visa today! Yeheyyyyyyy...:-) I was keeping in touch with Nicks. She got hers first and less than two hours after her Visa was delivered at their home, mine was delivered here at work.:-) I can buy my ticket by Monday, yeheeyyyyyyyy...:-) And yeah, not to forget the CFO stamp. I had my CFO seminar already so the stamp won't take that long to get.

About Document Verification by Delbros, I tried to contact them after my interview and double check the payment I made with Metro Bank. Ms. Allen confirmed it that they have forwarded the document verification request to NSO and then NSO will be the one to forward the verification result to the Embassy. And yes, it would be helpful if you can double check the "document verification" at Delbros days before the interview... just to be sure that they have processed it already.

Hi guys, here's another update and this time I'm happy that it's "My Good News". wink.gif I called USEM this afternoon, around 3PM and was able to talk to Sofia. She told me that my Visa was issued last February 12 and she advised that I'll just wait for the delivery. I then called Delbros and they confirmed it. My Visa was released yesterday, February 13 and it's still in Manila but it will be shipped to Cebu within this week. I'll probably receive it early next week.

I'm sooooooooo glad! kicking.gif

I was able to talk to Nicks&Brian (I'm hoping I got her correct username...:-) ), and she told me about the call she made to USEM this morning. I'm hoping mine will also be released today. I tried to call but nobody's picking up the 5184 extension. I'll just try to call again later...:-)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone...:-)

I want to try texting Delbros also but having a second thought. It's still 3 working days from my interview. I guess i just don't want to hear something like it's not release yet. (Keeping my fingers crossed). :-)

By the way, it would also help us (especially those who are still waiting) if those who already received their Visa will update their timeline. Guys, update your timeline please. :-) Tnx.
