Make your list and check it twice...

Then check it two more times. Do not forget your x-ray or medical documents and then have to call and whine and beg your significant other to fed ex them to you!

(Yes DH has yet to live this down)

CanadaUSC visiting Canada
definitely bring proof of ties! paystubs, lease, utility bills etc. Since at the time I lived not too far from the CDN border and used to visit my inlaws and DH quite a bit, they LOVED to sweat me at the border. There were times I was treated horribly. I even got turned back once and got my NEXUS card pulled by them. Needless to say, they had my azz flagged. I wasn't taking anyones job or going on welfare up there for G-d sake! :ranting:

I prayed for DH to get a job in the US (be transferred). I was so happy when he was and the last time I entered (he was already in California and I was heading up there to pack up his stuff for the movers), I got sweated. Pretty much treated like a common criminal. :ranting:
SOMEONE needed to sign off on the movers and clean his place. It was an afterthought that saved me. I drove to Cali with him and we signed the lease the night before I was to fly up to Vancouver to pack up his stuff. I tossed the newly signed copy of the lease into my purse and my camera with pix of the new house. I had DH's offer letter. I got pulled at Vancouver airport. Thank G-d I had the lease and the house photos and the return airline ticket and the agent was cool. She even complimented the house we got. I flew out of there on 8/22 and so wanted to get a chance to tell some of them to F themselves! :P

So yeah make sure you have major evidence of ties

CanadaUpcoming Vancouver interview
ditto! DH did the same thing for his Montreal interview...best off luck

C. purchased an inexpensive canvas expandable folder that zips and has handles. He has all the information in that, and that's what he's planning to take in. It's slightly smaller than a briefcase.

  Those expandable folders are the only way to go. The one I got even had white tab stickers that I could lable each folder inside!

CanadaHow much did you bring with you?
After DH got his Green Card, his company assigned him to a project in California  Luckily they paid to move us. We drove down with a car full of stuff. I flew back to Vancouver to pack his stuff and had the movers load the stuff (he had to start his job 2 days after he left Canada). One car was shipped down too. I then packed 2 suitcases and 2 cats and flew to California to join him

Canadahas anyone had luck with upack?
My friend Kim swears by U-pack. they used them to move from Coquitlam, BC to San Jose, CA

Dave's company is having professional movers for us. Cause if not, hell i would use UPack

CanadaCulture shock for Canadians in the US
My sentiments exactly!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the differences between Canada and the U.S. are no greater than the differences between a large American or Canadian city and small-town or rural areas in the U.S. and Canada. Not that there aren't differences, just that I could duplicate them by moving from Connecticut to Wyoming or from Vancouver to Grand Cache.

That includes the obesity problem. The racism problem. And even whether you hand someone a credit card or swipe it yourself. Or touch someone innocently. Or whether someone's going to get bent out of shape over generalizations. It really depends on the area.

CanadaPolice check in Vancouver Area
Yup my DH went to the Surrey detachment paid his $35 and got it in less than 15 minutes

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I searched and couldn't find anything, so I'm just wondering for people around Vancouver where did you get your police check and how long did it take? What should I ask for when I go in? I have no previous convictions so I understand that I don't need to do fingerprints.

Thanks.

I went into the RCMP detachment in Langley and asked for a canada wide name check ... I think it cost me $35.00 and I had it in my hands in about 10-15mins ... I believe you need to go to the local police station that serves your area ...

Russia, Ukraine and Belarusevidence for I-751 and traveling 4 months from now

I am a newbie and i just registered a few minutes ago with visa journey. I sent out my I-751 this afternoon 8/24/09. My green card will expire on October 24. As I was surfing the net I then realize that I totally forgot to check out this site. I've been scanning and reading some postings regarding the said application. Now I'm worried because I did not send enough evidence as what other members did. I only did what they ask in the Instructions. This is the only evidence my husband and I prepared:
1. Birth Certificate of our 13 month old son
2. Joint federal and state tax return of 2008
3. Joint checking accounts and joint time deposits or cd's
4. My hubby's life insurance with my name as the primary benificiary
5. Two letters from our friends.
We have a house and it's under my hubby's name coz he bought the house before we got married. My husband tried to call the lender and they said they can't put my name on it.
I am so paranoid now and worried with the outcome of application. I just hope we will not encounter any problems.
Plus i just realized last night that we are going out of the country to visit the Philippines on January 12, 2009 till February 7, 2009. I hope I'll be able to leave and come back to the country with no problems even if my green card has expired.
I really am so worried now that I don't know what to do.

I would also include your marriage certificate, joint credit card/statements, one more year of tax returns (2007), health insurance, dental, maybe a few pictures of you (w/ the baby) traveling together, some joint utility bills. Don't forget the check and sign the application wink.gif

Good luck with the I751

Mike.

We have no joint credit card coz my hubby doesn't want to have one, hehehe!!!! He doesn't like to owe anyone. Our house mortgage is an exemption. We have no joint utility bills either. Our comcast bill is under my name for credit score purposes. If ever I receive an RFE ( i hope not).. I'm going to send our Health Insurance, USAA Car Insurance, We have no dental ID... Idk why? hehehe!!!! My dentist secretary don't ask for it. I remember they only asked for our Primary Health Insurance name which is Kaiser... And I think she called the insurance and ask info about our dental insurance.... I can ask my hubby if our dental insurance can give us an ID.
I just received today our NOA notice of receipt. Idk if this is the letter that I can use when I go back home for a vacation in a few months.

Thanks Mike

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFiled I-751 late, now what?
I remember the time when I was interviewed. He said that If we file too early they will accept the money and it is non refundable and that we should file it within 90 days before your GC expires.... the fee is a lot and it hurts knowing what happened... ouch! the gov't got a free money.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAugust 2009 I-751 filers
Finally, I received my 10 year GC in the mail today. I have it on hand. I can now go to DMV to update my state ID and will have no problems leaving the country on January 2010.

That's quick.... only 1 1/2 month from the time I sent out my papers to USCIS.

Congrats to those who are approved! kicking.gif wow 5-10 business days after bio. What's the secret? Bright Yellow/Neon/Hallucianting jacket folder???? huh.gif

There was no secret. Honestly, I only used a plain light brown envelope for mailing. I did not placed my papers in a folder either I just used a paper clip to clip them together coz it was that thin... only less than 30 pages total. I was even expecting that I am going to receive an RFE letter. I was so worried coz I only check VJ right after I send my papers and saw all the VJ members send a lot of stuff like: pictures, 2/3 years of statements, bills that has both names and etc. This are the only requirements i sent out:
1. Birth Certificate of our 14 month old son
2. Joint federal and state tax return of 2008
3. Joint checking accounts and joint time deposits or cd's (latest statement)
4. My hubby's life insurance with my name as the primary benificiary
5. Two letters from our friends
I don't know how the USCIS do there job. We just don't know.

I already received my NOA2 today 10/08/09 in the mail.

Thank you very much.... I am so relieved when I open and read the email. I really thought I'm going to be receiving an RFE coz I only sent out this documents:

I was so worried after reading all the documents that other filers sent out. Now I can relax and wait for my permanent card.
Good luck to other filers..... You will have yours soon....
