CanadaI-693 question for AOS
I have called 8 civil surgeons in my area and ALL of them refuse to give me a partial except one who wants to charge me 200$! You've got to be kidding me!!!!!!!! There is no way I am paying that much.

Minnew, you said Part 1, 2 and 5. Part 1 and 5 I understand but Part 2 is like 4 pages long....would it just be the vaccination page sheet of Part 2?

CanadaI-693 question for AOS
Hi guys. I'm going to be filling out all my AOS paperwork this weekend and am getting confused with the I-693. My medical was done in Montreal in august so its definitely still good so I wouldn't need the physical or blood work redone. So do I just need the civil surgeon here in Florida to do the vaccination supplemental (i-693a)?

If I do need the actual I-693 done by the civil surgeon, what parts do I need?

Thanks everyone!

I have an original French Canadian recipe from my grandmother, my aunt wrote it down for us. I have it in a word document, not sure how to attach that here, but I'd be happy to share with whoever would like to have it!!

PM me for a copy! smile.gif

You can cut and paste from the word document into this reply post.

Hi Carla,

Here is the recipe if you are interested. My dad used to use equal parts, ground beef, ground pork and ground veal, he said it gave it a "smoother" taste, blink.gif

Enjoy!

Quantity : 3 Tortières of 9 inches

2lbs of ground pork, very lean
1lb of ground beef, very lean
1 medium onion
1 stalk of celery with leaves
¼ green pepper
1 large clove of garlic
Salt to taste
½ tsp pepper
¼ to ½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ to ½ tsp ground cloves
Parsley to taste
Other seasonings to taste if you choose :
Savory, sage, thyme ¼ to ½ tsp each
½ cup boiling water ( to add if neccesary)

Pastry, either your favorite or store bought

Cook the meat, in a large pot with the vegetables. Salt, pepper and the other seasonings to taste.
Stir constantly during the first part of cooking, add water gradually if necessary.
After cooking is finished (aprox 30 minutes, cool and remove any fat. Verify seasoning and adjust to taste.
Place the mixture in a prepared pie plate and proceed as you would make a pie..
Bake on the rack in the lowest position at 450F for 10
Reduce eat to 350F for 10 to 20 minutes.
If the pastry is not golden enough on top, raise the rack to finish the baking..
Total baking time in the oven: 20 to 30 minutes

PASTRY RECIPE (Quantity = 2 tourtières)

4 cups of all purpose flour
1 to 1 1/3 cups of lard and butter room temperature (half /half)
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
1 cup cold liquid, 3/4 cup water and ¼ cup milk

Blend flour, baking powder and salt..
Cut in the lard and butter into the flour with the help of a pastry cutter or 2 knives, until the consistency of the mixture resembles small peas..
Make a well in the middle of the dry igredients, add the liquid and mix together gently with two knives. Work the pastry as little as possible to avoid toughening the pastrydough.
As soon as the pastry has the the proper consistency , leave the dough to rest 15 minutes, even 1 hour if you have the time, before using it. Roll dough and prepare pie plates as neccessary.

I will post a picture later.

Thank you to my Secret Santa.... I won't be able to use them this year, but I will definitely use them next year. We love Christmas Tree ornaments!!!! Our tree was 13 feet this year, and my husband is hoping for a bigger tree next year.

Rayma

P.S. Who sent it? I'm curious!

Wow on the tree size, that's impressive! Good to know that you finally received them, have to love Canada Post!!! (NOT)Raymaga, it was me! blush.gif I thought you would figure it out by process of elimination, felt like mine was the last to get to its destination!

Glad to know that you liked them, they are actually place card holders, but I thought the same too, that they could have been used as ornaments..almost kept them for myself!

Sorry that you didn't get them in time for this year, but you'll have new baubles for next year now.

Enjoy! star_smile.gif

no worries on the allergy front good.gif . I just have to figure out a way to keep the kids from eating my wonderful stash of chocolates...sooo much to choose from. I was spoiled!!!

Never seen these ones, but can't wait to find out how great they taste!! My trainer may shoot me, but what the heck!

I also have to find a camera to take pictures, so bear with me and I promise to get them posted soon! I am somewhat technically challenged!

Thanks again, this was great fun!!

You figured me out!

=)

Sorry I forgot to put the note in the box, hopefully you got the one from Santa that trailmix forwarded for me!

I love the little chocolate factory, they make wonderful treats - plus they make the downtown square smell tasty year round.

LOL!! No worries! The address gave you away! As I suspect it does us all..
That was a very nice note, now I need to go to that town and visit, one of my favorite books growing up was Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, fires up the imagination, I tell you!

My kids keep asking, can we have some? and I keep saying NO!
Trying to be a good mom, whistling.gif It has nothing to do with the fact that I love chocolate! Nooo, not at all....

Merry Christmas!!

CanadaReasons for Optimism
My opinion for what it's worth, is that they need to acheive deliverables just like any other corporate company and have been working very hard this year to acheive the 5 month processing at USCIV, so it stands to reason that they are doing the same at the consular level. These things will always take time, no matter what.

I am hoping that when I am finished with NVC (estimated to be Dec) **fingers crossed** I can get a March interview!! So I have a vested interest in everyone before going through really quickly!! Here's hoping you all get your Christmas wish!!

Its a mix of both, he has the house, most of the furniture and all the electronics, but it's a guy's house, so no decor!!! He knows I am going to change things, particularly what's left from his ex-wife...

It's a 50/50 thing since we are both hard headed and want our own way, so we learn to compromise...as for the electronics, I could care less, so he can have that one all to himself, that and the garage, I want the kitchen!

I think it works out perfectly, IMO

Averages do tend to fluctuate, which is why the USCIS says that it could take up to five months to process. It's all but impossible to know exactly how backlogged they are at any given time. Judging by recent data, it should be very soon for you. Just be patient, and prepare yourself for a few more waits even after you get your NOA2. I'm not saying that to be cruel...just being realistic. The embassy step is currently the one taking the longest. NVC will take about five or six weeks.

Good luck!

Thanks...oh I know there will be many more periods of longer waiting. I appreciate your input Wyatt's Torch. I guess I am just wishing for signs that ours will be lucky. I hate living this life of suspended animation....hoping for Christmas miracles I suppose. I can't believe how stupid this whole thing is. Why can't their be easier routes for legit families to be together? Sorry for griping...I was just looking at other people's happy timelines and wondering why not me....

Many people look like their Noa2 comes about a month after the NOA1....We are like a month and a half. California service center....for I-130. I am so frustrated. I can't seem to figure out an estimate of how long this is going to take. NOA1 was received in early November. Anyone in the same boat as me??? I am so impatient.

CanadaCredit options for us Canadians
Thanks for all your input everyone. I guess I will give the AMEX people a call. I hope they can help me. Next time I visit I will go see our bank and check if I can start with the secured credit card option. I guess I can't worry too much. I am so happy to be able to get everyone else's opinions. Some of these matters are so silly and complicated...when they really don't have to be.

CanadaCredit options for us Canadians
Here is a question not related to visas, well only to the credit card kind. I am thinking ahead to when I finally am able to move to the US to be with my husband. Of course we have a US joint account for which I have a VISA debit card. However, I am under the impression that my credit rating will mean nothing when I am in the US.

I want to start getting a credit history in the US, so I will be able to get a car loan or mortgage when I get there. I don't want to use my husbands credit rating (eeek) and I have a solid credit history here in Canada. Does anyone know if there is any smart way to deal with this issue. Any insights?? SO appreciated if you do.
Angie'nMarkFemaleCanada2010-01-19 20:00:00
CanadaDon't believe my lawyer
Either of these is a totally viable option. A friend of min did the option your lawyer suggested. She went down to "visit" and got married and stayed. If your husband can afford to support you while your lawyer adjusts the paperwork, it could be around 6 months. I did second option, I went down for a visit, and then got married at a courthouse. I have since returned home to Canada...the wait outside the US for us is now about a year. I can still work, so that is good for me. As a Canadian you can go visit your husband you just need to bring lots of documents with you to prove that you will return to the country. I did this at Christmas and it went just fine.

What you choose depends on your finances, and how long you can wait to be together permanently.

GOOD LUCK!

I don't think if you sleep with a stripper or prostitute gets you on the SO registry.... yes you'll get arrested but being on the SO registry means one of you was a victim, unwilling to participate in the sex act. Sleeping with a prostitute, both parties are willing and able

Yes, like Sly Wolf says, there are ways to get on the registry without having an unwilling participant. There are a few posts over in OT where the members know people who are on it for relieving themselves in the parking lot after a night at the club.

I really think that part of the law should be changed. It gives people a false sense of the "true sex offenders" in their areas, but more importantly individuals are getting labelled in a very bad way which is not right at all. I assume this happens less in Canada since I beleive the age of consent is 14.
