Just finished my medical in Montreal, didn't take too long. My results may be ready on Friday, or if not I'll have to go Tuesday morning before my interview to get them (Monday being a holiday here) let's hope I don't have syphilis (haha)! Everything else was fine!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - June 2012

Hi everyone, I have been away for awhile, but I finally sent in the papers and now have a received a checklist :-( :crying:

Now I am hoping for some of your help!

It says that I am missing the following:

[x] It appears that there is no proof of current employment (a recently dated job letter or pay stub), or
self-employment status (a recently dated letter on business letterhead or a business license).
[x] The listed income tax documents/IRS statements for the years marked below are missing/incomplete
(if you have lost any of the requested tax information, contact your local IRS office to obtain a copy)
(Only Federal returns (not state or local) are acceptable unless the sponsor's income was earned in Puerto
Rico.)
• W-2 forms are missing/incomplete for the year(s):
[x] 2011 [ ] 2010 [ ] 2009 [ ] 2008.

I KNOW I did not send proof of current employment, but that's because I didn't think I needed to (I'm not even remotely close to making the minimum income so it doesn't matter how much my income is). So...was I still supposed to send it?

Secondly, I did not send my W2 form because I do not have W2 forms. I have an independent job in the US that I do via internet, so in that sense I am self-employed. I also work for a company here in Chile, but for that I don't get W2s...only the 2555 form, for Foreign Income Exemption. I had sent in all my Schedules and the 2555 form to show my tax info for 2011. So what do I do?

Lastly, the instructions say: The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete documents. In order to make corrections you will need to download a new form at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. You will need to complete and submit a new form with the changes noted below. Please provide all requested documents.

Does this mean I need to redo my entire I-864? I called the NVC and the lady (very mean lady) told me that I don't need to redo the form, but I am confused because of the above instructions.

Thanks so much!

My husband and I got a similar checklist, we didn't think we needed to send proof of current income for the same reasons - he didn't make enough and we had a joint sponsor. We sent a letter from one of his clients as well as a paystub from our joint sponsor (they didn't request it but just incase) and a letter explaining why we couldn't provide them with one other thing they had asked for. We did not send in a new I864 and all was accepted no problem.

Woohoo! I successfully changed my appointment date for next Tuesday, now I don't have to panic about getting my visa back in time to use the rediculously cheap ticket I bought last week. Apparently the trick is to wait a week or two until your file is at the consulate, when I tried last week I totally got the run around.

Thanks guys. Funny thing is the Anjou location is closer to me on the plateau (using public transit) by about 20 min and although the dorval location practically borders the airport it takes the same amount of time (again, with transit) to get from either location to the airport. So I'm booking a flight for Friday afternoon, that gives 4 business days, until I'm forced to rebook my flight and lose the savings, and call my cousin and tell her we won't make her wedding. Fingers crossed it won't come to that.

Question for Saylin or other Montreal CR1ers; where exactly do I pick upy visa from DHL/loomis? Does it have to be dorval? Is there anywhere downtown? Will it take longer if I can and do choose a depot downtown? I'm looking at cheap one way flights to San Diego for the Friday after my Monday interview, I know it's risky but even with the $150 fee to change dates it's still cheaper than buying a ticket the day before flying, and I want to know how much trouble picking up my visa will be I'm on bike or STM.

Spent the past two days trying to see if Montreal had any earlier dates available (I know it's not too long to wait but I'm right here and practically pass the consulate daily on my way to work) finally after six calls I found out the earliest date is 49 days out, so I'm sticking with the 9th. Hopefully I'll get my passport back quick or my plans to take my hubby to a cousin's wedding in July won't pan out, oh well it could be way worse.

That seems odd to me. You didn't complete the DS-260 that much before I did. I just completed and submitted it a week and a half ago and I had to list secondary and post-secondary schools I've attended. Did you log back in and review the forms? The education section was right after work history and started with this:

Have you attended any educational institutions at a secondary level or above? YES
Number of Educational Institutions Attended:

It required giving the number of schools/colleges/universities you've attended and wouldn't save the data until you had entered the information on all schools (in my case, 6). It was a pain in the butt. EXACT dates you attended, addresses, degree/diploma you earned, etc.

So weird, the question never came up, I reviewed it again today. Maybe because my occupation is under other? I have no idea.
I'm not going to call them and stall things, I already have case complete an and am hoping to get my interview date assigned this week. I will bring all of the info to the interview with me:
Secondary and post secondary institutions including dates, complete addresses and degrees ect achieved. Do you think I also need to bring my original degrees etc to the interview?

So, just curious, on my DS-260 it asked about my employment but not my education. Is this normal? I see people posting about entering their education history but I never had the opportunity, should I take my bachelor to the interview just in case, whenever one is finally assigned.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130/G-325a petitioner is self employed?
First, let me say thanks to everyone for the wealth of information on here, we are so glad to have found this site.

My husband and I are filling out our g-325a forms, he is the USC, he has been self employed for more than five years, he doesn't have an "official" registered business name, he's basically a freelance mechanic, for the past five years employment section should he write 'self employed' or write his own name and address?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Visa Interview at Montreal!!!
Hello there,

I am currently in a relationship with an American (I am Canadian) and we are engaged. We filled for the K1 Visa and all went good, until I got my appointment date! I'm happy, but also anxious and nervous because I don't know if our whole thing will go smoothly. My appointment date is in two days!!! April 24 2008.

Who has been through this? Was the interview tough? Intimidating? Uneasy? How are the people? Did you succeed in getting your visa?

The only thing I'm worried about is our financial situation. We're young you see, I am turning 20 and he is 21. He currently unemployed and his mother is supporting us (Affidavit of Support). She owns a restaurant and they earn a decent amount of money, but I think they are classified as a poor family in the States (they really don't look poor at all).
Will this financial situation really ruin my interview?
I will say that he will find a job in fall when he goes to University and I will also get a job (his mother will provide me a job 100% if I needed, if not I would work somewhere else).

What happens if I got turned down for the visa? What are the options?

Thanks for the help as I'm feeling really excited and uneasy =)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsEstimate for NOA2

Guys! This is normal seasonal cycle. I see this every year. If you file in February/March - wait is the shortest - about 2-3 months to NOA2. If you file July-August-September - wait is the longest - 5-6 months, which is normal, and it is EVERY YEAR. The reason is that most people apply for I129F in July/August/September for one or another reason (maybe, falling in love in Spring or something). USCIS cannot hire more people just to process July/August/September, so be patient. NOAS2 will be coming soon!

We sent our I-129F this morning. It will be there tomorrow by 10:30AM! I hope you're right! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember fillers
Hi everybody, It's a big pleasure to have your support and your help, but now I'm really down, the VSC received my application on november 26th, then I've never received nothing, no news about my case only the NOA1. Everyday I follow the processing time on USCIS.gov, I see that they process cases received for 6 months on March 16th and then now we are April 14th still no news. If everybody can tell what I can do, I'd be glad... crying.gif crying.gif

I understand that and I'll wait for six months but I want to have all the informations to write them right after six months, because I'm sure my case will take over six months. The USCIS says they proceed the cases in order they've be recieved, I see a lot of people who send their application after mine but been approved. Honestly I'm very happy for those people but I feel a little prejudice against my case and my own person, and then I don't see why there is a difference between my case and the others that have been aproved.
I know that I'm not so kind, but I try to express my frustrations, it's very hard to wait (I don't know how long it will take) and ignore what happens, please don't feel concerned about my comments help me!!! coz I really need you.

I everyone, first of all I want to thank all members of VJ for help, support and congrats to everyone who has approved. I don't know how to explain my problem but now I'm really scared about my case. I sent the application on October 14th 2008, I received the NOA1 on november 26th until now I've never heard about my case. Everytime i call the USCIS they read the same thing that they send to me in the NOA1, I wonder if there is a problem with my case, could I write the USCIS or could I wait for some time again and how long I can wait before write or call. If Anybody can help me, I'd be very pleased.
