Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done. Just wait, the most hardest part! We are also in ap for 14 months now, so I can perfectly understand what you feel.

I was asked to submit ds 160 with my medical for k1 visa not ds 260. Is that sound right?

Still in AP as soon as the ap concludes they will review the case, for a possible issuance for your visa.

Yes I know of cases where they have run background checks on the petitioner. My case is an example. The embassy asked my husband during one of his interviews if my ex-husband lived with me because his name was on the title/deed of my house. How would the embassy know this unless they had done a background check on me? I know of another case where the visa was denied because of information the embassy found on the petitioner. I am not free to discuss the details because it was told to me and I have to respect the persons privacy.

I can't really comment on your other question because it depends on the individual case. If a person has lived outside of Pakistan for a few years it could add time to their AP. It all depends on what Country they lived in. Say the person lived in Iran for a few years where US relations are very poor that person could sphuend more time in AP.

In our case I thought after being in ap for 15 months they had done enough background checks, but for our surprise we had a visit from homeland security, I was at work that day so they questioned him. I knew that some how they would contact me, and yes they did they called me at work. I had to meet an fbi agent and someone from homeland security. There were only 2 question s asked about our relationship, the rest was mainly about my ex. They also asked me who does the house where we live in belong to, they already knew it was on my ex and my name wanted to see what was my response.

The bottom line is the AP process is kept a secret by the embassy's. Islamabad's AP could be considered the longest in the world. I feel sorry for anybody trying to get a visa from that embassy. My husband is here after almost 5 years of dealing with them. They made a mistake and denied our visa saying we were not legally married in Pakistan. Their mistake cost time and money to hire a lawyer to research our marriage and file an appeal. After we won our appeal with USCIS our case was sent back to the embassy where we spent almost 2 years before they issued his visa. I think they were angry they had to issue the visa because the visa was only good for 1 month not the normal 6 months. They did not ask my husband if he could arrive in 1 month they just issued the visa. Thank God his father was able to come up with the money for the plane ticket.

This morning my fiance received a visit from 2 people from Homeland Security, they were asking him questions. When will we get married, where was I etc. This was a total surprise for me, I thought they only visited when the beneficiary was still on AP, but I guess many procedures are being changed now a days. Have someone had this experience once the benefiary was in the US getting visits from Homeland Security?

Yes, it happens more than you think, also during AOS filing, to see if the couple is committing fraud for a GC and pretend to be together.

Well, it's good to know. I was just surprised b/c I have never heard of this before, I believe as long all truth is said all is fine.

I have never heard of the beneficiary getting visits from Homeland Security once in the USA but so many things are changing. There have been many couples that didn't marry and the beneficiary stayed in the States when he/she should have gone back to his/her home country.

I have not heard of this either, and yes that does make sence.

My fiance had his interview almost 8 months ago.

I know waiting is not fun at all, but am sure when the embassy is ready they will contact him if him needs a new set of fingerprints, and I believe this is a new thing they are doing now.

Firstly, CONGRADS ON THE ISSUE! Secondly, my fiance already did his fingerprints during his interview. Will he have to do it again?

Thanks! Well, Nawaz had to do his again in Feb after being in Ap for 13 months. How long has he been on Ap?

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I'm not sure what date they consider but even with the I-130 petition, my NOA-1 date is March 06, 2012. That also makes it more than two years. Given the choice between dealing with embassy or the Immigration Department in USA, I will take my chances with the department here. Embassy will have to yank the passport out of my (or my husbands) hands if they want to take touch it again. Hell no I'm going back to that route again. I will call NVC later and if that doesn't work out, I just suck it up and count my blessings.

I AGREE!! I would do the same thing who wants to go through all that again.
