Canadaany stories toronto ,ontario?

and the last one,sorry...i get off the plane in toronto ontario...where do i go first?or what are the steps to follow?pick up luggage, customs and immigration and then check in with the conection flight out of canada to go to US and then wait? or am i getting it wrong?I will be totally lost at that airport...sights...

I went a few months ago, and I believe the order was: get off the plane, pick up luggage, go through customs, drop off luggage once you're through, then go to your gate. I don't remember at what time I had to go through security, I think it was after customs once I dropped off my luggage.

Also, there are a lot of signs in the Toronto airport telling you where to go. I got lost a few times though but there was always someone around to help me, don't be afraid to ask for help!

@Krikit, that's what I thought before I went to my flight, but I was told in Ottawa that I had to pick up my luggage in Toronto and take it myself to my connecting flight's conveyor belt thingy. It's annoying, especially if you have more than one suitcase.

Good luck :)

When are you travelling, just out of curiosity?

CanadaPacket 3 - Big mistake on my part

Did you complete and send in Part II of the DS-230 even thought it only asks for Part 1? And did you complete the DS160 online? I've been reading, some say yes do it, others say its not necessary. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey :)

I only completed Part 1 of DS-230, but I sent in Part 2 as well, just incomplete. I did complete DS-160 online, and I printed out the confirmation page that it gave me, I also clicked the option to have the confirmation page sent to my e-mail just in case I lost the physical copy of it, since I don't think you can retrieve it afterwards. If it's on the Packet 3 list, make sure you do it, I did everything that was on the list. I just looked over the list on the website and nothing has changed since I did it in the beginning of July.

Good luck :) PM me if you have any other questions.

CanadaPacket 3 - Big mistake on my part
It was ok! I got an e-mail saying I'm ready to make an appointment! I going in on the 23!! I can't believe it's so early I'm so overwhelmed now! My medical is this Tuesday too!

Quick question, do I need a full birth certificate for my interview?!?!

Thanks for the replies, I really hope this is the case. I contacted them by te email you provided pocheros. DS-230 part two is supposed to be signed at the interview, so is DS-156K. I'm really praying hard that they let me sign the rest at the interview as well!

CanadaPacket 3 - Big mistake on my part
In all the hassle and rush, I sent off packet three without signing DS-230 part one, or DS-156. I only realized this after returning home and looking over my photocopied packet. My heart nearly stopped. I can't sleep as I'm too stressed out that this will delay my process majorly. It took me a month to get my packet 3 instructions, I'm worried it'll take just as long to get any other mail from them.

I tried e-mailing contactus_en_ca@usvisa-info.com from http://usvisa-info.c...country_welcome, however I only got this automated response:

This is an automatic response acknowledging receipt of your request. We will process your request within 3 business days.
If you have already sent information to us please DO NOT SUBMIT additional requests on the same matter. If necessary we will contact you to clarify any information needed. Sending multiple e-mails with the same request only slows response time.

Who can I contact by phone preferably? What should I expect to happen now?
Pretty dissapointed in myself for letting the stress get the best of me :(

Take the originals to the Interview. I had copies as well for my interview but they didn't take them, they only took the originals, and then returned them to me soon after.

CanadaWhat do you miss most about Canada
I miss quite a few things..

Tim Hortons! I used to always go there with my mother and sister and get their Ice Caps. I miss that :(
The cleanliness, and the organization.
The Drivers, I swear people here drive crazy!
The bigger city I lived in.
Free health care
Feeling safe. I don't really feel safe anywhere here, but that's mainly because I'm in Ohio which isn't the best of places. The news is scary here.

I miss Canadians and Canada in general. I miss seeing the Canadian flag waving around. I miss having Thanksgiving in October, I miss the Canadian way of speaking!

If you couldn't tell, I'm a bit homesick! It isn't bad here, but I'm still adjusting. Alot of my complains about here are area specific since we don't live in the best of cities.

CanadaCanada Immigration & K1 Guide for Montreal
Thank you so much for this guide, I just read through it and I have a few questions.

1) This entire time, before I read the guide, I was under the impression that after they received my packet 3, they would schedule a medical and interview for me. I guess this is not true, I have to definitely schedule them on my own?

2) Can I schedule my medical now? Or do I wait under they receive my packet 3?

3) At my Medical, does the doctor send anything to the consulate? Is there anything I should ask/do?

4) I know I need a police record check for my interview. I went to the police station here in Ottawa, and got one the same day. It's just a form I filled out and the office filled out the last part, stamped it and printed a reciept on it. It's titled Ottawa Records Check and it says "This is to confirm that no criminal convictions nor outstanding charges have been found in the Canadian National Repository of Criminal Records as a result of a search based on the above name and date of birth. The search has not been confirmed by fingerprints." Is this all I need? I was expecting to have to way to get a records check in the mail, but instead I just got this paper when I went in. I'm a bit worried that it's not good enough.

5) My Package 3 was send out to me on June 15, I haven't received it yet. It's ok for me to send in Package 3 regardless of whether I got it in the mail right? (I just want to make sure, I know others have done this)

6) I don't get the whole registering for DHL thing, what is this for and how do I do it?

Sorry for all my questions, I get answers to questions only to have 100 more pop up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Status: Accomplished :)
I'm writing this in disbelief, because it felt like forever waiting for this. I used to log onto VJ and read through all the successful stories and tear up thinking of the day I would be able to share mine. It has been a difficult journey for Steve and I, even before the K-1 process. From him being denied entry to Canada due to an $11 magazine he forgot to pay for when he was 18 (that resulted in a misdemeanor), to my father trying to keep us apart by denying Steve's first request for my hand in marriage. It has been a bumpy ride, I can't recall how many times I lost full nights of sleep, and how many times Steve had to comfort me over Skype while I cried. I have done things I never imagined I could do; from standing up to my father whom I have always felt weak near, to driving countless hours to see Steve when I had never even driven out of my city alone. There is not a single thing I would change. Our relationship has been put to the test several times, and I'm proud to say we made it through. I am so proud of Steve for not giving up when my father denied him; his efforts were recognized and respected in the end by my Father, who now adores him. He recognized that in order for our future to be as bright as it could be, I would need the support and love of my family.

My trip in general was not bad, I have written a POE review on my timeline for anyone who is interested. Saying goodbye to my family was difficult, and it breaks my heart every time my mother tells me she misses me already. To see her get teary eyed on web cam is difficult to deal with. Those last hugs goodbye are precious, I want to emphasize to those of you still waiting to cherish the time you have with your family before you move. It's hard to do this among all the stress and the longing to be with your fiance(e)'s, but just try. Don't lose sight of the support you have from the people around you during your process.

Being with my fiance finally is a wonderful feeling. It is amazing just to be able to eat dinner with him, to go to bed next to him and wake up with him, to kiss him goodbye before work and welcome him home with open arms when he returns. These simple things are so significant for most of us who go through this journey.

Although the K-1 process was lengthy, I am happy it was smooth thanks to all the help we received through Vj, we literally could not have done it without you guys. I must say, the Visa process made me learn even more about myself then I already knew. I never realized how stressed, paranoid, eager and impatient I could be! I know there are more papers to be done, but at this point I just want to breathe and soak in this feeling of accomplishment. To those of you still waiting for that finish line, don't give up. It is a long stressful journey, but don't lose sight of why you signed up for it in the first place. In the end, we all just want to be with the ones we love. I hope from now I can help those who are still in the process of attainting a K-1 visa, as much as I was helped.

See some of you in AOS!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich is the best option for us?
Thanks for the replies, we were both eager for answers.

The reason why we are considering getting married in the US, is because it is still possible that his Criminal Rehabilitation forms could be declined. So at least I would be living in the US legally if he were unable to enter Canada still. We were also considering it because if the Criminal Rehabilitation forms were to be accepted, we wouldn't have to go through the trouble of getting married in Canada since we would already be married, but we're not even sure if it works that way really. We would be moving to Canada as an already married couple. Also, if he does get accepted to enter Canada, we probably won't be moving RIGHT away, we would be looking for jobs.. and preparing which could take a while. So we could be in the US for even two years.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's nice to speak with people who have been through some of the same things.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich is the best option for us?
I have a few questions. I?ll start by explaining my situation.

I am currently engaged to a man from the US, I am from Canada. We met online two years ago and have met in real life several times. He tried to enter Canada to visit my family and I, however he got declined at the border due to petty theft charge on his record from almost 7 years ago. We filed for his Criminal Rehabilitation forms; however we discovered that it could possibly take another 12-18 months to receive the outcome. We do not want to wait this long to marry and be together, so we decided that I would move to the US to be with him, and marry while we wait for him to be allowed to enter Canada. That way, we?d already be married when moving back to Canada.

Since we could be waiting a long time for the rehabilitation papers, I would like to marry him legally in the US and get a green card. What is the easiest way to do this? Is it possible for me to move down there with him while working on our marriage papers? Our ultimate goal, is to be able to be married and living together as soon as possible, and for me to be able to work in the US as well.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplying for K-1 lots of questions! Please help
I plan on vising to America in a few weeks to be with my fiance. When I get there he is going to apply for the K-1 visa for me, and I will travel back to Canada for my interview when necessary (or before the 6 month period in which I am allowed to stay). I am only going as a long visit right now, not for permanent residency, however once I get the visa I will be moving permanently. Well, my mother is going to drive with me to the US as it would be cheaper for her to drop me off and drive back home, and we are not too far away. Would this be a problem at the border? Also, when my interview comes around, and I travel back to Canada, how long does it usually take for the visa to get accepted? Will it be a problem for me to cross the border to the US with my fiance visa once I get it, since I previously spent a few months in the US visiting? Also, once I get the visa, I can plan to move permanently with no problem right?

I am a little stressed, I don't want to risk being barred from entering the US. We have been in a long distance relationship for almost two years and are really fed up (he was unable to travel to Canada due to a pety theft charge on his record, so we have been waiting for his rehabilitation papers which are taking way too long!) We really want to get our life started.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few questions about the K1 - please help!
My fiance applied for a k-1 for me that was received by the Department of Homeland Security on December 12, 2011. We received a Notice of Action (I-797C) on December 14, 2011. It basically said to check if his information is correct, and if not then to notify them if there are any changes. Since there were no changes, we just left it at that and didn't do any notifying since there were no further instructions.

We haven't heard back from them as of yet, and my stay in the US ends at the end of April, in which case I must return back to Canada due to the 6 month limit. I am starting to stress out a bit since I am leaving soon, and am wondering what I can do to prepare for any requests they may have. I know i'll need a police records check, should I get that ahead of time? Can I apply for one while I'm here in the States? What else can we do to be prepared? Any letters that need to be written? Also, is it possible for me to extend my stay here? Or does that require an important reason, and will that affect my k-1 in anyway?

Does it usually take this long to get the first approval? I called today to check the status again, and it's still in process. Is it normal for this process to take this long?

Thank you in advance for any help. This whole process is such a dragged out wait, and soon I will have to leave and we'll be doing the wait alone and far apart.. very eager to start our life together officially so we no longer have to part ways not knowing when we'll see each other again.. :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received, a few questions please
Thank you all so much for the helpful replies, I should have thought of using the Canadian forums, sorry about that. Since I am already here, however, I have a question about one of the forms I need to fill out: https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

It wants me to state how long I will be staying in the US, I would obviously answer that I plan on living there permanently right? Or am I only allowed to state for 3 months since that's technically how long my visa is for, and how long I have to get married?

I tend to read too much into things so forgive me strange questions ahead of time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received, a few questions please
I did start there, some of my questions aren't answered. For example, is it ok if we don't have EVERYTHING from our k1 petition, as in the whole copy (we have some of the papers). Is it ok if his letter of employment doesn't state his salary? And are all these papers/proof of his employment, for me to take to the interview, or for the forms I am about to get?
Steve & RemaFemaleCanada2012-05-29 21:45:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received, a few questions please
We received our NOA2 about 4 weeks ago after about a 5 1/2 month wait, saying we were approved. Today my fiance received a letter stated that the NVC has received our approval and that I (the beneficiary) should be expecting a package in the mail soon. It stated that the petition will be forwarded within a week to visa-issuing post where my interview will take place. Can someone let me know what I should be expecting in this package? I am from Canada, and it's being forwarded to Montreal.

Also, here http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide it shows what my fiance should do once we get our NOA2. Some of the things we do not have (i.e a full copy of our petition, I know we should have but we never made an extra copy). We have some of the PDF forms filled out but that's about it. Also, does he have to send me bank statements and pay stubs? My fiance has a letter from his employee stating that he is employed full time, but it doesn't state how much he gets paid since it is hourly and not a salary yet, will that still be ok? Is he supposed to send that letter to me as well? He's not rich or anything, and we don't have much saved, is this going to be a problem? He can support me on his salary (I lived with him for 6 months) but is that enough for them?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. I know there's a lot of into online but I get really easily overwhelmed and I find it easier to understand things coming straight from people with experience.

Sorry for any typos, I get REALLY anxious about this.

For my interview, I'm going to take screen shots from Gmail of some Google Talk conversations, and e-mails (Google Talk actually shows how many lines each is, for example we have a conversation that's over 3k lines). So instead of showing everything we wrote, it'll just show one message, then the number of messages included in the conversation, and the date/time. If there's anything too personal I was planning on using a black marker to cover it up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPackage 3-Montreal Embassy

OK thank you for the response. Regarding income...the last two years I did not make that, but December of last year I got a really good job and am going to make way more than that. Is this going to be an issue if I submit my tax transcripts, employment offer letter showing my annual salary and also a few recent pay stubs?

That's fine, when I did my interview in July, my fiance's Tax Returns and W2's showed that he was making below the 125% requirement as well. However, like you, he found a higher paying job last October so he currently makes above the 125%. He took a letter of employment and a few months worth of pay stubs to prove what he is getting paid NOW and that was accepted. The job offer letter and pay stubs should be fine for you, if it's possible you could ask for a more recent letter of employment stating your salary, position, and hours of work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPackage 3-Montreal Embassy
Hey :)

1. From the looks of it, I think you (the USC) are in fact residing in the States as a Citizen right? I asked the same question once and got this answer "You do not have to prove your petitioner's status unless they are only a permanent resident of the US and not a citizen. Evidence of domicile is only required if the USC (US citizen) does not currently reside in the US. For example it's common that many americans live with their canadian spouses in canada; in this case evidence of domicile is required."

2. The Petitioners income needs to be 125% of the poverty line for a household of 2 (assuming you have no other dependents) which is $18,913. Even though the K-1 visa states the petitioner needs to make 100% of the poverty line; In most cases they look to see that you make 125% (AOS requirement) since they know that K-1 visa applicants will soon have to file for AOS once they marry and will need to meet the AOS income requirements. http://travel.state....pes_2994.html#8

Good luck!
