On the 4th floor the have translation bureau called "Teodonica". They are good, fast and affordable. You can pick up your translation and legalization from the same place the same day usually. I'm angry I only did 2...I don't have an extra one now if I need it. God forbid. PS: Don't get your police certificate now. It's only valid for 3 months and by the time you'll have the approval it might expire. When you translated your birth certificate did they give you the translation on a big A4 paper? I was wondering is this going to be my only birth certificate i'll have in USA? Just an A4 sheet? Or they're going to issue another american-type birth certificate? I am absolutely outraged at the way she was talked at while being notified, via phone, of her passport being delivered back to her today. Likewise, I am appalled that the Embassy would even hire individuals who are lacking basic social graces and polite communication skills. I am sure that the Embassy does not need to be reminded that the individuals working for it are the face of the United States government. As an American citizen I am appalled that anyone would criticize an individual over the phone on not picking up on the first ring and continue on to taunt them about not receiving their VISA in the mail in a timely manner because of it. Furthermore, to speak and behave in such a manner with a matter as delicate as a K-1 VISA is simply unacceptable. If the individual is so unhappy with his job then perhaps he should be reminded how wonderful it is to be unemployed in Kyiv. Furthermore, I would expect that this type of behavior is an outlier and is not representative of all local employees at the Embassy. Given the gravity of this situation it would seem that disciplinary measures need to be taken against the individual, as I doubt that this was the first time an act of this nature has taken place. I will assume that the Embassy would have taken this course of action without my suggestion. A written apology will be sufficient to right this wrong. Pending no response an official complaint will be filed with my Congressional representative and my Senator. Concerned, Yuriy I can see something really objectionable happen to make you write these words, but let us know if there will be any reaction from their side. Since the Consulate where the interview takes place will need to keep your passport to put the visa inside, you can plan on sticking around. You'll want to find out the visa delivery options for the country in question. Since you won't likely have a mailing address in country, I expect they can arrange for you to pick it up. For your visa interview, you'll also need to sumbit an Affidavit of Support, I-134 from your fiance that must be notarized by notary public in the US (I think all countries' applicants do it with no exception.)
