K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow important and copies
It's not mandatory to make copies. But it is recommended if your petition got lost. I don't think USCIS will send you a copy of what you have submitted considering how many petitions they receive. Just keep your fingers crossed that it will proceed onto the consulate and everything is there for the interview. On the other hand, you should have all the original things like the birth certificate, evidence of meeting, etc., right? If the worse happens, you will have to re-assemble and submit another petition with all the evidence of meeting, etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhats after NOA 1 besides waiting
If you've made copies of what you have originally submitted for your I-129F, send them to your fiancee so she can become familiar with what you're petitioning. Somewhere close to the interview, you will need to give her any documentation for proof of your on-going relationship. Don't forget at that time also to include a newly signed Letter of Intent to Marry". She will need to have a new one also to go along with yours. Glad to see ya checking and reading things!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotarization

I read somewhere that the letter of intent for the petitioner should be notarized, any truth to that.
Thanks

If it's the "Letter of Intent to Marry" within 90 days for both you and your fiance(e)', the answer is that you do not need to have it notorized. Each letter of intent need to be signed with original signatures and dated. Do not submit copies of a signature on the letter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow many of you used a lawyer to help you

I started with an attorney ONLY because a friend of mine was doing an intern at this office and it would be free. He was a Fkuctard and I ended up doing it myself.

What is a "Fkuctard"? Is it new phrase all the kids are saying today?

another word I like to make up :P

I was wondering if your friend was doing an internship or doing an intern - something decidely more, uh, personal?

For some reason, Monica Lewinsky just flashed through my mind! I'll give credit where it's due...that's a good one!
I wonder if a cigar was involved "in" the intern(ship)? ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow many of you used a lawyer to help you

Im just curious as to how many of you used a lawyer. I didnt and now im wondering if I should have. I sent off the paperwork in Feb. and recieved the letter stating they received our petition. Now, we are just waiting for the next step. Im just worried that they could send it back if we didnt do it right. Also, what is NOA1 or NOA2. Ive seen that posted a few times and was curious. As you can see, im new here.

Thanks

Most of here didn't use lawyers. There were no legal situations or complications for myself or fiancee that would have prompted me to utilize the services of an immigration attorney. I was fortunate enough to find this site and forum before starting the paperwork. I had most of it prepared before I visited my fiancee in February. After I returned home, it went out the next day after I had more evidence to support my petition.
Best thing to suggest is reading over the GUIDES and Visa FAQ to see what the next step is you're going to take. Welcome to VJ!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations

The "Letter of Intent to Marry" and the "description of how you met" on I-129F, both need to be written in English only.

altimixdj,

Close, You are correct that the I-129f must be prepared in English. However, if the "statement of intent" from the fiance(e) is attached as a supplemental attachment page to the I-129f it can be in the native language but it MUST be accompanied by an English translation.

This I didn't know. I've never heard of the supplemental attachment page being in another language. Thanks for letting me know! ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations

So basically for any other file like " how you met your fiancee ", " letter of intent " and so forth it needs to be translated into english if its in another language`, ok so i got that done, but the problem is that since my fiancee is in the dominican republic, he cant sign no translations, but the originals are signed and dated, so with the translations, i just told the lasy and she told me that since is not sined because he lives over there and he really wont know well what he is signing to go ahead send it like that, with the translator notorization. so thats whta i am going to do . is it ok?

The "Letter of Intent to Marry" and the "description of how you met" on I-129F, both need to be written in English only.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI 129f and G325A Details

I am new here and I just started the K1 Process. I am a USC and my fiancee and I have just completed these forms and are almost ready to submit.

I would like to know how important the detail of completing this information is. It is very difficult to recall exact dates of when I moved into my last residence. I can remember when I moved to my current residence. It was 6 years ago when I moved into my last residence but the detail of which month escapes me. Also two of my fiancee's 5 jobs in the past 5 years were for short periods of time (one for 2 weeks, one for one day). She doesn't recall the exact dates.

Do you suggest that she just leave those 2 jobs off the forms? Also if my prior address goes past five years is it acceptable to just put 5 years from now or just guess the approximate date? I have exhausted all of my resources to find this info.

Any input with these types of experiences would be greatly appreciated.

You have a while yet. The G-325 doesn't need to be filed until after the NOA2. As far as the dates of employment all I can say is; make sure the last five years are all accounted for. As far as the two week job and the one day job, well, again just make sure all time is covered; one day jobs, personally I wouldn't put down on the form. Sorrry to be so vague. Remember, I don't really think anyone goes back to check employment history of the SO, but I could be wrong. Maybe other people here will know more. Also, again the G-325 doesn't need to be filed with the petition. I hope I was some help.

reach449

Sorry to interject here. But if you're referring to form G-325A, it must be submitted with the I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance(e). They do need to be completed by both the petitioner and beneficiary. Please refer to the GUIDE section on filing for a K-1 Visa. http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1guide

hi, with ur background as a former adjudicator i hope u can tell me an honest answer.my fiance refused to have a co sponsor. his on ssi earning 15,000$ annually which is below the 125% of the poverty guidelines for 2007.he has a part time job as an independent contractor that earns 7000$ annually.to some both of his annual income it is around 22,000$ which just pass the poverty guidelines. he doesnt have an income tax since 2005 .will this be a basis to deny me of a fiancee visa cos he doesnt have income tax return. he got a 1099 form for his part time, do u think they will honor this? pls help . ill have my interview by the 27th of april.

Wow! You started 2 threads with this same question and posted the same question in the thread started by Huskerkiev. Once isn't enough?
Huskerkiev probably isn't going to answer you. I knew when he started his thread about being a former ajudicator, he was going to get overwhelmed with too many people asking him questions and would not be able to keep up with the demand. It's obvious that he hasn't been posting anything for quite a while now and you will more than likely not receive a response from him for your question.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrison Record

I am wanting to marry a Brazilian girl who sadly has been working in the illicit trade there but has more than proven to me her devotion and committment to find a better life for herself. Let me just say that I havent' sent her a dime, nor will I except to fund this process and of course her travel to the US. The question I have regards my own indescretions from 20 years ago, I have 2 felony convictions for drug posession, will that hinder my chances of marrying someone from a foreign country? I served prison time in 1988 and completed all programs mandated by the judge. In fact, I went onto become a counselor for many years and today have 19 years clean. Suffice it to say that I went on to build a good life for myself and have been on the same job for 8 years earning in excess of 100K. Not your typical ex-con story by any means, I worked very hard to get where I am and don't want to mislead through this process just to be rejected at the end. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. How does the INS view the US citizen with a criminal record that is 20 years old? Thanks

This should not prevent you from getting a visa for your fiancee. However you may be faced with extra hurdles. In general with these cases, most people here would recommed that you consult an immigration attorney. You will have to disclose it and you may have to file a wavier. A good attorney will be able to give you a better advice than most people here.

As far as your fiancee, there are certain trades that can cause her to be banned from entering the US. Has she traveled to the US before?

Has she got a criminal record from the "illicit trade" she's been working? If she has, that may be a problem for you both depending on what it was. Please excuse me. I don't want to know what she does or did. I, personally, don't care what a person does with their life.

Friend, I am sorry to hear that..I have known my boyfriend for 9 years..but starting from last September we had a lot of fights regarding the k1 process. We have been better since this year. But tonight just found out our application was denied even before we have any chances of getting NOA2. Life is not perfect .. I understand the twisting feelings..

I hope you be strong and move on. Best wishes!

I just noticed that you were also asking about using an immigration 5 days ago before this post too. I wonder if she is scared of commitment. It is none of my business and do not feel as though you need to explain yourself and your situation. I will agree everything happens for a reason. Whether it be good or bad. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. It may seem dark now to you. Keep in mind, that which doesn't destroy you, will only make you stronger. Hang in there bud! ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis is Goodbye.....

Well it's all finally over, Myrna and I are officially no more.

The person I met and fell in love with was not the real Myrna, what turned out to be the real person was a deceitful, unfaithful woman who is and has been on a self desctructive path virtually her whole adult life (her words, not mine).

Now comes the hard part of mending my broken heart and rebuilding my life.

I would like to thank everyone on this site for their help in the past and their kind words of support during all the uncertainty over the past few weeks

Best wishes to all those on the journey, one which I will no longer be taking.

Good luck and God Bless

Andrew

Sorry to hear the news. You're obviously a good man who believes in his heart. You certainly deserve much better than what you had been dealt. Never give up hope. It's easy to say now. But soon a truly wonderful person will come into your life and all will be better than ever expected! I know I say this on behalf of many people on here, "We hope to see you back soon!". Best of luck to you and remember this, "That which doesn't destroy you, will only make you stronger".

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAre we too poor to be in love?
I understand your situation. The old saying is, "Love doesn't cost a thing"? I'll be honest and tell you when going through this process, yes it does cost from the very start of K-1. I don't know if you looked at the cost of all the fees involved. But supposedly these fees are going to be almost doubled during this year. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life. But if your life isn't situated at this time, or somewhat stable, I think it's going to be extremely difficult for you trying to go through the visa process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDenials

Russia is alot cheaper then Germany my friend. My girl pays about 150 bucks for a nice 1 bedroom apartment. Food is pretty cheap as well as everything else. I would prefer her to come to me but I am not going to worry anymore. If for some reason they say no I will sell all my stuff, buy a beater of a car and leave it at my moms. Come back for a month if i need money. Once I learn Russian I wont have to do it but it is a nice fall back for some quick $$$.

No country, no service center, no embassy, no consul (with a god-like complex) will stop me from being with my Irina!!!!!!!! I will be with my Russian Queen May 31 to Aug 31!! Hopefully I will be there for the interview!! It will be close!! Might skip to Ukraine to get a 1 month visa if necessary!!!

I wonder if i can get a job at the CSC and approve my own K-1??? They would probably fire me because I am too quick and efficient.

Don't worry about getting a visa to head to Ukraine. If you're from the US or any "regime-free" country, you can stay there up to 90 days without a visa! Ukraine's biggest treasure are the outrageous numbers of beautiful women there! Not that you may look, of course! I certainly do! I do a great impression of Linda Blair in "The Exorcist" with my head spinning around! ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImportant question regarding our wedding date before visa approval

They joined yesterday. No one told them BEFORE they planned their wedding not to plan it. After they shared their information - that things were set up and this is the problem they are facing- THEN everyone said "well yeah see that's why we all say wait before you plan." That's swell, but they didn't know that before they started.

So now any comments are a bunch of blah blah blah because they don't help and they can't change history.

Let's see...a lot of letters? Small groups of letters combined, appropriately spaced? Is this what they call words? Let me guess, it needs to be read from left to right? I can read!

People keep telling me that I shouldn't have set a date until I had my visa and blah blah.

It's too bad that everyone that took the time out to help you and you referred to their assistance as just a bunch of "blah blah"?
You may have found someone who has gone through the experience related to your situation. But what happens in one situation, doesn't mean it's going to go the same way for you as well.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImportant question regarding our wedding date before visa approval
It's always been pointed out in this forum to never set wedding dates until the visa is in hand. Obviously, I think you are seeing why. If you have filed for a K-1 visa and your fiance' comes to visit and you go ahead with your wedding plans, you may have to file an adjustment to your visa. A K-1 visa is intended for the foreign fiance to come to the USA and get married.
There will be more detailed comments coming from others on here. Sit back and read them as they appear. This should help you make an informed decision on what you may or may not need to do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalling USCIS as the beneficiary?

That is unusual. On 05/22, I was prompted at the USCIS website to change my password. Did this happen to you also? After I changed the password and logged into my account, I noticed I received the first touch after the NOA1 back in March. 1st touch on 05/22 and a 2nd touch on 05/23. But there's no update via e-mail. I'm guessing the same thing must've happened to me as some of you on this thread. We must've been approved also. But I don't have any confirmation of this yet.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 for Forever waiting....

Please ,I need advise from someone who could enlighten me and my fiancee regarding our K-1 petition problem..I had been interviewed after my medical exam (first) by U.S. embassy last january 2007,then another by FPU on the last week of february..I was totally surprised why I was subjected to such scrutiny..in the end I was told that someone made a complain about me about having a child or fathering a child from someone..I explained everything about the acussation and the truthfullness of the child, because I am not really aware of such child and the woman's questionable character ( so sorry if I cannot elaborate further the detail on her character)...Something that has made both of us suffer till this date ..Until today we haven't received anything or a clear path as to where this relationship will lead us.( they will just say for further review).I am just so glad that she continously wait patiently and find solution to end all this ..I am soliciting any advise to help us ease or formulate something of good solution to our problem...

Note...We are on our late 40's,,spending more time in waiting is something that we cannot afford Posted Image

You should include ALL the details. Not that most of us are nosey bastards. But it will give those of us willing to offer help, a better picture to actually offer help in your situation. ;)

Any suggestions?

Your petition was approved in 11 days? Wow!!!!! That's fast! Is your SO in Cuba or Switzerland? Your timeline says Switzerland but under your avatar it says Cuba. Just curious. Congrats!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee filling out G-325A

Our lawyer filled out and signed the iogtaphical form for my fiancee'. Her letter of intent was emailed to her. She print it, signed it, and faxed it back. The lawyer used this in our application and said it would be fine. I hope she is right. B)

Charles

On Form G325A, all 4 pages need to have original signatures on them. Also, be very careful because all 4 pages look identical. But they're not. You will see the difference at the bottom left of each corner for each page. They're designated to go to different places. So print each page of form G-325A.
