US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice clearance in Ukraine. Where should obtained?

Hi everyone!. I am new here and that is awesome web site !
Do you know where to go in Ukraine to obtain (order) Police background checks ? Is it just in Local police office of the city? May be someone has an expirience of obtaining it in Odessa, Ukraine.
Thanks!

My girlfriend is from Odessa. You can try contacting her through my profile on here. Her name is Karolina. Can't miss her. She's had her's done and probably wouldn't mind helping you. ;)

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfiancee visa and co-sponsor

my fiancee lives in the philippines.we have asked her parents and got their consent to let her come here on a fiancee visa.but since i dont meet the required income i have my dad co-sponsoring her.i was told that she wont be able to come bcuz co-sponsors arent apporoved on fiancee visas.nor do they approve it at the embassy in manila.does any1 know if this is true and do we have a chance to do it and wont have to worry about being denied?any1 with the same experience know anything about it?plz help!

If you and your father meet the required income guidelines, there's no problem with her being approved for a K-1 visa on that aspect. You would probably be best served asking this question in the "Philippines Forum" of this site about the Manila embassy. http://www.visajourn...h...mp;s=&f=129 Good luck! ;)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhere to stay in Keiv
QUOTE (queball @ Aug 18 2007, 03:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone, First let me say that this forum has been a big help to Yulia and I and we really appreciate the members here who wrote back a response to my questions and giving us all their support ! Thanks again! My new question. My Fiancee would like to know if any members here had their interview in Kiev ,Ukraine. Yulia is looking for a hotel close to the embassy and office for the medical test. If anyone has any info that I can pass on to Yulia, that would be very helpful and appreciated. Again....thank you !! Jeff

My fiancee' just had her interview this week in Kiev and was approved. Yulia should like dealing with the consulate in Kiev. All the reviews have been great from what I've heard so far. Just be sure to have all paperwork very well organized. As far as the hotel, I'm sorry I can't recommend one to you. Except for the Hyatt. It's only blocks from the embassy. My fiancee' stayed at an apartment her mother's company has there in Kiev. If you do an internet search for Kiev apartments, there should be a massive amount of them there for rent. Best of luck to you! wink.gif

PhilippinesPre-nups
When divorce happens, there's no winners. Except for lawyers. Both spouses lose out. Especially, the children if they are involved. I spent $20,000 and it wasted 1.5 years of my time having to fight all the bullshit and accusations in court. But I got all 3 of my daughters. That is what was more important to me. If you feel that you must protect yourself, your children (if any are present now and future), and what you have worked hard for all your life before meeting your girlfriend, then by all means, do what you think is necessary Bill. Sure, everyone speaks of trust, mentioning a pre-nup is insulting, etc. But who knows exactly what the future will bring about for any relationship. Whether you are doubting your relationship, a person can't always allow their heart to make decisions. That is why we have a brain. We either use it or lose it.
On a personal note, doing a pre-nup for me would be pointless. My divorce completely wiped out what financial plans I had for the future for myself, my 3 daughters, as well as, personal assests. I have to start all over again. 11 years of hard work right down the toilet. My fiancee and I will be having to do this together for both of us and our children. What we earn together will have to be split together if something was to happen.
Now, if I had emassed a big fortune and assests, absolutely I would present a pre-nup. It's not mistrust. It's the future of my children that I would be thinking about.
Even if you did mention the pre-nup and she agreed to it without being insulted, that would tell me your fiancee actually cares for the relationship. All I can do is wish you the best as you try to find the right proceedure to approach it. ;)

PhilippinesSending Money Home
Take the next couple of months off from sending anything. Tell them or your fiancee that you just don't have any money to send at this time. See what the reaction is. If there's no friction about it, from either your fiancee or her family, then you can continue on without sending anything any further. That should tell you that they're fine without your financial help. If there's ANY friction about it, from either your fiancee or her family, that will tell you if you've being viewed as a sugar-daddy or not.

Man, you've got to be the Henny Youngman of this site with your one-liner posts! I see you pop in and out of almost every thread on here and I don't see any advice. And you're a platinum member of VJ since joining last month? Posting one-liners just to receive "platinum" status?

Hey, what happened to the HUGE pink words you usually post?

Unfortunately, we have members who have a problem with me giving others congratulatory messages and good luck messages to people. I feel very sorry for them. They seem to lack souls, and respect.

I always have my sunglasses on hand whenever I enter any thread. Guess I won't need them now

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWHY VERMONT CENTRE IS FASTER THAN OTHERS?

Don't want to be mean, but may be someone can help me: why Vermont Centre is faster then others?

- Different people
- Different management
- less states to serve
- or something else?

I can't find answer anywhere here. :(

Thank you ;)

I'm thinking regional demographics. It seems there's more immigrants arriving through the southern states than from the northern states. Why CSC has to take all that on, who knows?! To all of us going through CSC, it doesn't make any sense why it takes up 3-4 months for an approval and only 3-4 weeks for approval from VSC. It's obvious something is wrong and the process is seriously unbalanced.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFinally a Touch!!!

I almost fell out of my chair at work today. After receiving my NOA1 on 2-6-07 and 106 days later a sign of life from USCIS. Please let this be the NOA2. I would love for this stage to be over before the holiday weekend!

Good luck to everyone!

Jim

The same thing happened to me yesterday also! I went to the USCIS website and I was wondering why in the hell I was being prompted to change my password! I changed the password and logged in. I didn't notice anything different until a couple of hours later. It was touched! It was good because I happen to be talking to my fiancee' at the time I discovered the touch. Congrats to both of us! May the rest of it pass even more quickly! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsRefreshing TOUCH
Who knows?! I was prompted to change my password. I did that. Logged in. No change. 2 hours later, I got my first touch on May 22 & then on May 23. But I'm guessing we were approved for our NOA2. Their site isn't working worth beans right now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS website is not updating my case!

I setup an account on the USCIS website and signed up for the email updates. The website shows our petition as having been "touched" on 5/2, 5/15 and 5/16, but no email notice of the "touches" were sent out.

HOWEVER, on 5/19 USCIS generated an RFE, which they mailed on 5/23. For some reason the RFE didn't appear on the USCIS website, nor was an email notification sent out.

We responded to the RFE, and USCIS received our response on 5/29. Once again, our response was not recorded on the USCIS website, nor was an email notification sent out.

5/16 is still the "Last Updated" date for our petition.

I phoned USCIS and all they could do was read the information off of the website to me (big help!)

*QUESTION: Has anyone else had the experience of the USCIS website not updating their case staus properly? If so, were you able to fix it somehow?

I am having the same problems as you! I want to know what is the best way to contact CSC directly? I cannot make it passed USCIS to get there. USCIS's information is useless because it is not updated. If anyone can spare some hints to get to CSC to talk to them directly, I am sure I would not be the only one who appreciates this! Thank you in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNO web-update, email, smail but NOA2 approved

I sent my app in feb 26th overnight. They got it the next day. Got NOA1 mar2. Touched twice week of may 21-23 then nothing.

No email
No web update (still says "pending")
No snail mail
No way to call (got standard we are working on 6 months ago BS )

I called NVC on the outside chance it went ahead. I could not get through. I tried 4 days in a row.
I finally got through and the n ice lady said "Oh yes thats been here and gone, its on its way to the embassy".

Holy Cow! NOA2

YippeeKaiyay...

What do I do now?? Can some one point me in the right direction?

I'm hoping my case has gone the same route as yours. Our timelines are very simliar. I think I'll call NVC tomorrow. How did you go about asking the information to them?
JoeMamaMaleUkraine2007-06-05 21:00:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC and NVC

Well, I got my NOA2 hardy copy and my mom PDF it to me. NVC says it is still not in their system. Hopefully I will get a letter saying they sent it to the embassy soon. Who knows!! I do feel better now that I am fianally done with the USCIS.

 CONGRATULATIONS, Billsafari!!! I kinda suspected you had been approved. ;)

Listen to The Godmother! ;) You and I were approved on the same day. I didn't find out about being approved until today when Nag helped me and I contacted NVC. They said approved May 22 and June 6, it just left for Kiev. I never received any notices. I was pissed also because when I did contact CSC around May 29, the girl told me there was a decision on May 22. But refused to tell me what in the hell the decision was! NVC said they received my case on June 4 and out it went on the 6th. Congrats to ya!
JoeMamaMaleUkraine2007-06-06 16:20:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStill Noa2less
March 2nd was when our case was issued a NOA1. May 22nd, we were approved. But no notice by e-mail, mail, nothing. They wouldn't even tell me over the phone when I called on May 29th. If you have your USCIS Receipt # from your NOA1, you can contact NVC at 1 603 334 0700. Press 1 then 5. Keep trying if you do not get through after the first few tries. Odds are is that your case has been approved without any touches, etc. If it was approved, NVC will have it or it's been forwarded to the consulate of the benefiary's country. Best of luck to you and hope this info helps you! ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNot received your NOA2 yet?

I can't believe this stuff about signing for an NOA2. When ours arrived is was just in an USCIS envelope. No special signing, no other requirements, etc.

I just made sure I printed the notice off the computer. It was as least my assurance that something had been done.

Joe, if your case is in the embassy in Kyiv, I'd say you don't have much to worry about. Just in case print out the one from the USCIS web site for safe keeping. They accept copies for so many darn things that you probably won't ever need the original.

Printing a copy would be nice. The only thing is that I haven't received an e-mail about it and the USCIS website says that the case was only updated on 05/23/2007. It says nothing about an approval. I'm gonna keep trying to get through the best I can. I don't want to pay $200 for something they're saying they've done.
JoeMamaMaleUkraine2007-06-22 18:33:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNot received your NOA2 yet?

I find this sooo hard to accept. I also never received the NOA2 and spoke with USCIS today who insisted my only option is to pay $200. If they are sending us documents worth $200, don't you think they should send them with a way to track them. I didn't lose my NOA2 as they are suggesting.

Is this happening to a lot of people lately? Is there anything else we can do?

The lady I spoke to on the telephone from USCIS said that I should've signed for it when it was delivered to my home. She was throwing out so many excuses to point all the fault at me! I am at my home each day whenever the mail is delivered. There has been nothing to sign for. I just sent an inquiry over to my Congressional Representitive. I'm hoping that something will derive from this angle and not pay the $200. It's ridiculous that this is happening to all of us!

You can find out who your Representitive is by going to: http://www.house.gov/writerep/

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNot received your NOA2 yet?
I haven't received my NOA2 like a lot of you on here who have not received it yet. I contacted USCIS today. They said it was sent 30 days ago. My #######! I haven't moved anywhere and I received the NOA1 within a week of submitting my I-129F. They even tried to convince me that my case hasn't been approved yet as a reason for not receiving my NOA2. They couldn't dispute the fact that my case is already at the Ukraine U.S. embassy and my fiancee' has her interview 08/14/2007.
With as many people here stating that they haven't received their NOA2 either, it's gotta be a damn conspiracy! To obtain a copy of the NOA2, they want you to pay $200.00 and submit the I-824 to obtain the copy. Come July 31, 2007, that amount will be increased drastically. Just a word of warning! Whatever their scheme is to obtain more money, get it done before the July 31st date. You'll need to fill out and send in I-824. Cover all the angles! Send with "Delivery Confirmation" and use a personal check which is your proof they received your I-824 and cashed your check! :ranting:

Yes, now I remember that someone said happy bday to me! I replied that post but not sure if you ever saw it. Now that you are moving onto the next step, can we start picking on you again?

Welcome to the world of visas. Anything can happen at any time. It will all happen when it happens. Patience is absolutely a virtue in this process. It doesn't do any good upsetting yourselves like this. I was in your same situation watching all the VSC'rs passing us CSC'rs by with lightning speed. Getting NOA2 approvals in less than 3 weeks time. It was crazy! All us CSC'rs could do is sit back, relax, and give congrats to those who were getting approved through VSC. As you see, it doesn't matter which service center anyone is going through, no one is "privileged".
Maybe while you're waiting, start reading up on what's gonna need to be done after your fiance(e)' gets here ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAnxious!!

What we are doing to mitigate that problem is to start the wedding planning process by picking our favorite venues, djs, photographers, caterers, etc.

Once we get the K-1 Visa on her passport, I will be making frantic calls to finalize everything based on whatever is available at that time.

That's smart. I think picking a date is crazy if you havent been interviewed yet. Like buying a nonrefundable plane ticket and missing the bus to the airport. Hmm...

It's the roll the dice and see what you get. I started working on wedding plans for October 20th. My fiancee' was approved for her visa only 2 days ago. I'll be with her next Friday. I rolled the dice with the advanced purchases of our plane tickets and setting the wedding date before she was interviewed. What gave me the confidence was knowing that I covered every conceivable possibility of the paperwork she needed. I didn't realize how much documentation I had given her to take the interview, until she showed me through the webcam. I almost felt like sending a mule over to help her carry all of it

I just called CSC and they told me I was approved on May 22!!! Good Luck to everyone else! And if you got touched but haven't gotten an approval, please call. I would have never known otherwise because my status never changed!

Were you checking your status on the USCIS website and you were prompted to change your password, then saw you were touched? I've tried calling with no luck and their website doesn't show any changes. The only thing I've seen is that my paperwork was touched on May 22 and May 23. That was the first sign of life since receiving my NOA1 approval back on March 2nd. I'm curious to know if this has been happening to other March filers.

its so exciting that March filers are getting NOA2's! My fiance would love an October wedding, so getting an NOA2 at the beginning on June as opposed to the end could make a big difference for us. Plus its my birthday next week and an NOA2 would be a fantastic present!

I know what you mean! It's my birthday today, and I've had two touches yesterday and the day before. All I really want for my birthday is an NOA2!!! We are also aiming for an October wedding.

It's my birthday tomorrow also. I had the same situation as you. Touched on 05/22 & 05/23. It was much needed to see those touches to know there is life at CSC! :D

It is funny...all the Yahoo Chat sessions between my fiancee and I are all in Russian. I am not going to translate those sessions into English. I am not completely fluent in Russian yet and I use the assistance of a computer translator for our chats. I am going to submit some of the chat session logs. We talk every day for hours and hours. I've logged and saved each session. If I were to print up all of them since November, I'd be sending USCIS a novel larger than "War and Peace" and The Bible combined!!! This is only up to this date! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPossibly a stupid question...but I shall ask!
I know this may be a stupid question. But I will ask because I need to know. I am self-employed and have not filed my tax returns for 2006. I need to make sure my income is sufficient on my taxes before I send any papers to for the K-1 visa. According to 2007 Federal Poverty Guidelines for a family of 5 (this includes my fiancee' when she arrives here), the guidelines state my annual income should be $24130. Now to reach the correct amount of 125% over that amount, I would mulitply 24,130 by .25? This would give an amount of $6033.00. A 100% of 24,130 is 24310. Add the $6033 and this should give me the total amount required, $30163.00. Am I correct on this amount? If you know the correct formulation to this mathematic equation, I'd be happy to know it! :D
