CanadaStaying in Montreal to get VISA

Eck... those places are more troublesome to get to. : / , especially if you are taking public transportations.

CanadaMontreal Approval today. September Filers please ask away

The guy from the interview said to me 8 days.  But I have seen that many people in the previous weeks had gotten theirs on the day after their interview :)

I'm hoping to do the POE on the 20th, if I get the visa on time for that.

Hi there!

I was the C4 girl ^.^  Glad to see you were approved! We were too :D

I agree, this website and guide saved us months of waiting. It's a great tool.

Have you received your waybill number yet?

CanadaLast minute freak out.

Alright, so my interview is tomorrow.

I am very nervous, and keep worrying that the documents I'm bringing are incomplete, or wrong and what not ><.

It feel like my whole future is in the hands of the person who's going to interview me, and on those papers.

So, it seems that more and more consulates are asking now to fill for DS-260 instead of DS-230. And that it's supposed to be a change that's effective for all of them since the beginning of september, but they just haven't updated their page?  ... Well, for Montreal it still lists DS-230 OR DS-260, but it has not been updated in a few months.
So I figured... well I might as well just fill it too, today, just in case. But now I worry that if I do, it will update my case file and that they'll cancel my appointment, or it will cause problem at the interview. Gaaah!! I don't know what to do D: I really hate feelign like that crying.gif

CanadaPassed my interview. How long for the passport to come?

Just got my waybill number ^.^

Not ready for pickup yet, and it still lists the old pickup location that's closed down as my pick up location, so I'm not too sure what to make of that. But, at least it's shipped now :D woohoo

Sure thing :)

We might have seen each other. What number did you have?

My loomis branch is at Lachine (montreal). I don't have my waybill number yet, but on friday, on the CEAC website, my status went from AP to Issued. Yay! :D So I'm expecting the waybill email maybe on monday or tuesday.

I think you'll get a waybill number added in there, once it's shipped.

CanadaThe Vent Part Quatre

I'm really annoyed at USPS right now XD

Honey mailed the I-134 and letter of intent last monday and paid extra to have it delivered within 3 to 5 days..... It's not here yet.ranting33va.gif  OMG. It would have been faster to just mail it through regular mail and less expensive. And then we realised he forgot to sign the supplement sheet he had to add to the I-134... So we'll need to pay for the extra extra fast delivery if we want a hope for it to be here on time for my interview in a week.

CanadaAfter Package 3 is sent ? What should i do next ?

At the interview?

Since when have we known each other. When did we first meet in person. How many times do we see each other. What's his job, and mine. Where are we planning on getting married, does he have a big family, and will my family be coming to the wedding.

I was expecting questions to be a bit scarier than that, but really it wasn't :) And the person interviewing me was friendly enough.

Oh and... is that police certificate an original?  --My police certificate had a stamp, but was not.... uh... not sure if that's the correct english word. Embossed? , so they thought it was a photocopy. It gave me a bit of a scare that they would refuse it and I would need to go get one with embossing, but it all turned out well, in the end.

--- and about that email you got. Hmmm... that's weird. Well, I would just follow their instructions and email them back your current address. And give them a few more days before deciding what to do.

FayearaFemaleCanada2013-09-13 16:58:00
CanadaAfter Package 3 is sent ? What should i do next ?

The interview went well :) it was really easy.

We sent the forms, and the checklist, we didn't include birth certificates or anything like that with the packet 3.

FayearaFemaleCanada2013-09-13 10:36:00
CanadaAfter Package 3 is sent ? What should i do next ?

Yeah, it took some time after they had receive the packet 3 to actually log it in their system for us. smile.png And once they did we got an email.

Actually , as you can see in my signature, it took 10 days for them to log it in.  Don't worry too much yet, it's probably just sitting in a pile of unread mail, they'll get to it.

Canada2 weeks since Visa approved, still no visa! Anyone else a similar experience?

Well, technically everyone's status changes to AP while they issue the visa. But yes, usually it takes a few days to a week.

Some people get put into AP for months, usually when there's further investigating to be done. Do you, or your parents came from a high fraud country before being in canada? Or do you have a job in or studied biology or chemistry? Usually it seems people who answer yes to one of those questions have higher chances to get put in AP for weeks or months.

FayearaFemaleCanada2013-10-10 15:07:00
CanadaHow did you prepare?

Wow, you really  made a move! According to Fire and Ice, Quebec is THE MOST liberal part of Canada, and Alabama is THE MOST conservative part of the U.S.

I don't have a hard time believing it XD

I know I'll be trying my best not to talk too much about politics with people because I'm pretty liberal myself and that could turn into pretty bad arguments.

Did you know that selling sex toys is criminalised in Alabama? And our grocerie store won't sell us beer on sundays before noon (used to be the whole sunday). We can't order alcohol from out of state and have it delivered here either.

FayearaFemaleCanada2013-10-17 09:25:00
CanadaHow did you prepare?

I moved from Quebec to Alabama.

I didn't really do much to prepare, I came to visit for a few months before, so I knew a little bit how things would be like, but I still discover new things everyday :D. I think I'm still so new to this place that the differences amuses me more than annoy me for now. It's really a lot more conservative around here. And the accent some people have O_O!! Oh my. I don't know if I'll ever be able to understand them on the first try. XD

The food is sooo different too. And cheap food products in Quebec are expensive here, and some expensive food stuff is cheap here. The choices of meats and fruits and veggies is.... very sad though T_T and I think that will be one of the things I miss the most ; the variety.

But it's a nice place, people are really friendly and welcoming so far. I think the key is going with the flow and embracing the differences and not to expect that everything will just be the same, because it probably won't.

CanadaMairjuana Use

I had my medical done last august in Montreal. They did take blood, but it was to test for STDs and other contagious diseases.

On the medical forms, they ask you if you were ever addicted to or abused any substance in the past. They don't ask if you had ever tried or occasionnally used. Though I guess it's something the doctor himself could ask you, but he never did with me.

As everyone else says, don't lie, but don't bring it up if it's not asked for.

CanadaCrossing Maine boarder by car

We crossed by car into Vermont. Very easy and simple. We got there in the morning, maybe at ... 6:30? and we had to wait until the day crew came in at 7:00. Guess they didn't want to have to stay on the job any longer than they had to :P.

They filled the form, took fingerprints, asked very few questions. I had a list of everything I was carrying with me, but they didn't even wanted to see it. We were out probably by 7:40 or so.

CanadaK-1 Visa Interview Alone. What Should we expect? Tips?

I did my K-1 interview on my own too, and the other people there with me were also on their own for the majority. I was really scared, had barely slept the night before, but really, like everyone is saying, it's really not that stressful.
The part where they check if you have all your documents was actually scarier than the actual interview.
tips?

- make sure you have all your documents.

- don't lie

- relax :) (easier said than done ;) )

We live somewhere super humid, and everything molds super fast. Well... I remember back in Quebec, if I left sliced bread out for a week, it would get moldy. Here, you can leave the sliced bread out for months and it doesn't mold. And it's not even a joke, kinda creeps me out.

Oh how I will miss ending a drunken night out with a good ol greasy poutine :( And Montreal style bagels... their bagels are just not the same!

Did you know that St-Viateur Bagels delivers to the states? You just need to order at least 4 dozen.

Now that I'm pregnant, I'm like... What do you mean, I can't send my husband for a poutine run at 3am? I miss it so very dearly. And unfortunately, I can't even make one at home since they don't even have curd cheese here in southern Alabama D:!

I'm seriously considering learning to make my own cheese...

My parents are coming next month.

I'm asking for maple syrup, passion flakies, habitant pea soup, ketchup chips and maybe bear paws. I wish they could bring curd cheese too, but the drive would be too long for it, and I'm not sure about how customs are about cheese.

I've found Maple leaf cookies and Aero chocolate at Publix here as well as Quebec maple syrup at Rouses.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

Hmhm, I heard, and I don't know how accurate that is, but that usually a baby will only have enough 'energy' to really learn to do one thing at a time. Talk, walk or teeth. So maybe since her teeth are coming in, learning to talk is taking the back seat?

I'd still check with the pediatrician to make sure there's nothing more to it though. But I'm sure she doesn't hate you. She just doesn't realize what she's doing.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

You should be ok :) since it's transformed and sealed. but if you want to make sure , you can check on

http://www.inspectio...4/1300127627409

You'll be able to check by food (if you search baby food, for example you'll get a list with different choices like beef, veal, vegetable...) it will then ask you the provenance country and state and what will you use it for (personal use). And then you'll see if it's approved and the conditions you need to fill for it to be approved.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

Welcome to the thread. Getting to 8 weeks is a good thing. You are only 4 weeks away from when miscarriage risk decreases. I have a couple friends with PCOS that took forever to get pregnant but once they were, they both carried their babies to term.  Have hope that all will go well.

I have twin boys who are almost 6 months old. Being a first time parent is pretty intense. Add in immigration issues for my DH - we are currently waiting on his naturalization which has been in line for interview scheduling since April 8. Kind of like pregnancy - lots of waiting not knowing when the event will happen, lol.

Glad you found us!

Thanks. I remember reading this thread while waiting for my K-1 and you were still pregnant. And now the babies are almost 6 months old. Time flies so fast.

I honestly thought it would take me longer to get pregnant, if it ever happened. But it only took a few months after I stopped the pill. I was very surprised. I'm not sure I really feel ready but I don't know that I would ever had felt ready either.(There's that part of me that keeps thinking : what if I'm a bad mom! ) It's mostly the fear of the unknown I think. You can't quite know what it is like until you have your first.

Welcome to the baby thread! And congratulations on your pregnancy.  You're getting a lot further along now and that's good news.  Hang in there!  I bet the grandparents were excited.

Yes, they were! It's my parents first grand-child too :) My husband's mom is already knitting us some blankets for the kid hehehe. I know it's killing my mom not being able to tell everyone.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

Hey.

We found out a few weeks ago that I was pregnant. I'm at 8 weeks now. We haven't told anyone but the grand-parents yet since it's still so early. I have to say that I am both terrified to lose it (I have PCOS and apparently my chances to miscarry are higher) and terrified to give birth at the same time XD.
